A/N: Continuation of the one-shot of 'Off the Radar'. Got a review from Brenne, a friend of mine from the beginning of my fanfiction days. How could I not continue this one-shot since they were wondering about a part two?

This one's for you, Brenne !

Off the Radar (2)

The young halfa was laying down on his bed with a glare. He had one elbow placed behind his head, and his free hand was throwing a ball back and forth. With one solid throw, it would bounce off the opposite wall, hit the wooden floor for a brief moment, and then would land back in his hand.

His window was propped open, but he was denied access to go outside during the weekends. That, and he could only go outside for school. The nightly breeze that was coming into his room was the best that he was going to get considering the unfortunate, yet inevitable consequences of his actions.

Letting out a long sigh as the ball made contact with his hand again, he clenched it tightly. The ball was made from the same material that stress balls were composed of. After the long and agonizing talk between his mother and Vlad, he needed a stress reliever more than ever.

Being grounded definitely was horrible.

"Woof! Woof!" A dog came from outside of Danny's window. Curious, he glanced over to look down only to be met with a light shade of green. Now confused, he drifted his eyes upwards to see the face of a ten foot dog peering greedily through the window. Hiding his surprise, he sat up on his bed and opened his window up all the way.

"Woof!" The dog greeted, wagging its tail eagerly for a chance to play.

Danny rose an eyebrow as he brought up his stress ball. Immediately the dog's eyes lit up and it opened its green mouth. It was drooling and letting out a loud pant. The teen let out a small smirk and waved the ball around. The ghost dog jumped a small amount forward – a little pounce – and Danny smiled genuinely at the creature.

"Want the ball?" He asked, and the ghost dog wagged its tail and panted heavily. "Alright, go get the ball!" He yelled, throwing the ball as hard as he could. The dog turned and darted towards the street. Within seconds, it reverted to a small puppy like size.

The teen watched from his window, leaning his arms on the sill. He watched the dog escape from his sight before hearing a knocking at his door. The young halfa couldn't help but release an annoyed groan. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to throw his only stress reliever to appease the boredom of a ghost dog.

"If you're Vlad then go away!" Danny yelled, leaning back on his bed with a loud sigh.

"We need to talk, Daniel," Vlad's voice came from the other side of the door. It was muffled, but of course the teen could hear it as clear as day with his enhanced hearing. "I'm coming in."

The teen rolled his eyes in annoyance, "Oh, no, don't…" He muttered weakly, but the door opened regardless of his wants or demands. The man stood before him and he quickly looked away from him before he would shoot ecto-lasers from his eyes or something. With his ghost powers on the fritz, he didn't want to chance anything.

Yet, the teen couldn't deny that it would be hilarious to see Vlad's reaction to him having ghost powers. Probably scare the man down to the basement and grab one of his parent's inventions to destroy him with.

Danny let out a visible cringe – maybe he shouldn't think about that.

"Did anyone ever tell you that your presence is unneeded and unwanted?" Danny chirped out, crossing his arms. So far his plan to remain calm was working – he wasn't even turning intangible or shooting uncontrollable ecto-blasts.

That was a plus.

"Sarcasm again?" Vlad asked, closing the door behind him to avoid any eavesdroppers. He and the boy weren't on the best of terms and he didn't want Maddie to hear just how he spoke to the teen. "Then again, what could I ever hope to expect from an unruly and uneducated teenager such as yourself?"

Danny snapped his head over to the older halfa and let out a menacing low growl. He sat up in his bed and raised a fist. His powers were just dancing at the tips of his fingers – they were practically begging to be used. Letting out a calm exhale, he calmed his nerves expertly. If he didn't keep his emotions under check, then he would no doubt kill this man.

And although the sound of that was quite promising – he couldn't kill another person no matter how much they seemed to enjoy to piss him off.

"Did you want something?" Danny asked, leaning against his window sill with his elbows propped up behind him. He was facing Vlad with a steady glare – he hoped that the man would feel uncomfortable enough to leave. When Vlad changed his stance to leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, the teen knew that wasn't happening anytime soon. "Seriously, I have homework to do."

"Daniel…" Vlad spoke, seeking to gain the teen's undivided attention. The only thing he got in return was a roll of the teen's eyes instead.

"Er!" Danny answered, imitating a buzzer when a contestant got the wrong answer on a game show. He wanted the man to realize that he didn't like being called by his full name. "Wrong answer," he stated dryly, looking outside towards the street. He was sure that he didn't throw that ball that hard – or maybe the dog wasn't trained to play fetch?

The older man was speaking, even though the teen wasn't paying attention. Could you blame him? This man was trying to take the place of his dad, and that position was already filled. Just because his dad was in some kind of mental center didn't mean that he was replaceable.

"You will obey your mother…" Vlad muttered on, and Danny was half paying attention when he came out of his thoughts. Great, he had just missed probably the greatest long winded 'I am your step father' speeches in the past thirty minutes.

"You aren't my father, Vlad," Danny spoke out, making the older halfa look over at him with a glare on his face. "And tell you what, as long as you make those tiring speeches, I'm going to counter with this one."

The two of them glared at each other in silence before the older halfa let out a low chuckle, "Right you are on that, Daniel."

"Danny…" The teen corrected with clenched teeth.

"When you realize that your unstable father is never returning – perhaps you will seek my guidance," Vlad stated nonchalantly, now standing straight as he walked towards the sitting teen with an unusual dangerous gait. "Last I heard, Jack's physical condition wasn't doing too well."

The teen narrowed his eyes at the man now standing in front of him. "Are you…" He trailed, unable to comprehend the threat in Vlad's tone. It was as if the man was offering him an unspoken ultimatum. "Using my dad's life to get me to obey you?"

Vlad merely let out a sinister smirk, "If that's what you're interpreting, little badger," the man responded, watching intently the darkening of the teen's eyes in malice and anger. The older halfa had no doubt that the teenager wanted to throw a punch at him. Any other teenager backed into a corner would lash out – yet Danny did not.

"Wow, knew you were evil…" Danny muttered, shaking his head. "Must be that whole 'Luke I am your father, but actually just want to be your father' vibe I get from you."

Since Vlad was watching the teenager closely, he failed to see the growing green mass behind the teen until a dog's face was pushing up against the small opening of the window.

The teen was being slobbered on with oversized drool from the dog's mouth. Letting out a small smile at the moist ball that fell onto his bed, he looked up to greet the ghostly dog. Taking the ball into his left hand he raised his right to pet the dog on the face to test the waters.

When the young halfa's hand made contact with the dog, it let out a few happy pants. As if noticing the gaze of Vlad on the two of them, Danny turned to look at Vlad with a cocky grin.

"You act as if you've never seen a ghost dog before…" Danny taunted with a grin.

"Is he yours?" Vlad asked, looking at the dog for any signs of aggression. Although he might not get along with the teen, he is still under his protection. He's Maddie's son, and if anything were to happen while he was there – well, it wouldn't look good.

The teen shrugged and let the dog nuzzle him closer, "Just met, actually," he informed, looking up at the man. He noticed that the older halfa wasn't looking at him, but rather the enormous ghost dog behind him. The stress ball in his hand felt heavier by the second, and letting out a devious smirk, he decided to release some pent up aggression.

Quickly throwing the ball at the unsuspecting Vlad, the teen expected the man to get hit in the upper torso by the ball. Due to his ghost fighting, the teen's accuracy had gotten stupid good.

Instead, the man raised an uncaring hand and caught it effortlessly from instinct alone.

Danny narrowed his eyes at Vlad when the older halfa turned to look at the teen. It was as if he had caught the ball on instinct and looked down at his clenched hand to reveal the slobbery ball that was held in it.

"Daniel, that is outright disgusting!" Vlad lectured, dropping the slobbery, moist ball on the floor. He watched as it hit the ground and kicked it away, as if it were the most grotesque thing he had ever had the misfortune of touching.

The teen couldn't help but remain speechless at what had just transpired. A man that seemed to not play any type of sport, a man who looked to not be physically fit – had caught a fast ball that he didn't know was even coming at him.

When the man looked back up, the green ghost dog was nowhere to be found. He then darted his eyes to the teen who was observing him. "What?" Vlad asked, finding the silence and starting combined to be annoying.

"Nothing," Danny stated, turning to close the window. It appeared that his ghostly dog friend wouldn't be making a third appearance that night. The ghost dog seemed to dislike Vlad – honestly the teen didn't blame him.

"For the sake of your mother, let's keep this ghostly dog encounter a secret," Vlad tried to bargain with the teen. Danny secured the lock in place and leaned back on his bed with his arms crossed in defiance.

The teen shrugged, "Sure. It's not like I can do anything against you – not when my dad's life is put on the line."

Vlad let out a small smirk in triumph, "I'm glad we could reach an understanding."

He turned to leave, but was prevented by the alarming thing that Danny had said.

"But, don't think that this is permanent," the teen mused, and Vlad heard the familiar sound of the ball hitting the wall and then the floor before there was silence. Turning around, the man narrowed his eyes at the teenager. "I'm onto your secret."

"And whatever do you mean by that, Daniel?"

The teen stayed silent before he threw the stress ball against the wall before it made contact with the floor. He watched Danny do this for a few more seconds before the teen rested the ball in his hand lazily. His hand positioned to throw it again, but the teen raised his eyes to meet the older halfa challengingly.

"I think you know," Danny stated, making Vlad look at the ball in observation. It was completely dry, as if the ball wasn't encased in dog slobber a few seconds previously. To the older halfa, it seemed as if the ball had to have turned intangible for it to be completely dry.

He would need to keep Danny under close observation for the next couple of days. He was correct in his initial hypothesis with the teen. He had avoided his ghost vultures – avoided him for two weeks. That wasn't normal. Normal, powerless teens would have been caught within the first twenty-four hours.

And that ghost dog – for the teen's first meeting with it (assuming that he was telling the truth) he was at ease with the ghost. As if seeing ghosts were normal for the teen. Of course, this was Amity Park, and there had been a few outbreaks of ghosts. But normal people, they would have screamed at the sight of a ghost. In terror – in panic.

Danny was as stoic as ever.

"Goodnight, Daniel," Vlad said, turning back around and exiting the room.

Danny narrowed his eyes at the closed door.

'He's not normal', they both thought, letting their suspicions and accusations accumulate with each passing second.

END.
