How Taking Down Legacy Failed
Mickie's P.O.V
"I'm so tired" Ted complained, I glared at him. "Hey, you were the one who forced me to watch Saw, now you have to live with the consequences" Last night after Ted brought me home, he let me choose the movie of my choice to watch, knowing Ted hated horrors and gore, I chose Saw.
"Ted, you made us watch two Disney movies after, made me read you four chapters of Harry Potter, made us listen to Hannah Montana songs for an hour with the lamp turned on and you still couldn't sleep after" Ted had made us do all that because he was too afraid to sleep, never again.
"I told you movies like that freaked me out" He shuddered. "I can never get the image of him cutting his own foot off out of my head" His eyes widened. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD" He yelled, I starred at him scared.
"I worry about you" I told him patting his head.
"Why did you make me watch that movie?" Ted cried covering his hands over his face.
"You said the movie of my choice and I was feeling particularly jiggy" I replied.
"You just wanted me to scare me" He knew me so well.
"That too" I grinned. "What are you looking at? You've been on that laptop all morning" He was sitting them with headphones plugged in and he was very secretive about it.
"I'm not looking at anything" He said shifting his eyes.
"Do not tell me that you are watching porn to try and get the Saw images out of your head" I asked in disbelief.
"No, in fact I'm not doing that" He replied. I tried to walk over to see what he was doing, but he kept closing his laptop down every time I got close. I sighed.
"Fine, fine, have your little secret" I threw my hands up, I pretended to walk away and when his guard was down, I tackled him off his chair. I ruffled my hand through his hair and messed it up.
"NO! Not the hair!" He cried, he ran to the mirror whilst I grabbed the laptop, I pulled it open to reveal he was watching the Ellen talk show; I turned to him and raised a brow. Why was he so desperate to hide this? He looked from me to the laptop. He then ran out of the room screaming. "DON'T JUDGE ME"
"Now I've seen everything" I muttered to myself.
"Morning" Randy said walking into the room and kissing my cheek. I turned away coldly and got up to put my bowl away. He raised his brow as I did this. Seriously? He didn't think I would be pissed about how he stood me up last night, I thought our first date was suppose to be important, but to him, I guess not. "What's up with you?"
"What's up with me?" I scoffed at him, he looked even more confused. "You must have a poor memory as if my memory serves me correct; we had a date last night"
"You're seriously pissed off with me for that?" He asked as if I was simply stating that I was pissed because of something stupid like leaving his underwear on the floor.
"And you wouldn't be pissed off at me for just leaving you with no notice?" I retorted.
"I got Ted to tell I couldn't make it, something important came up" I laughed at him, oh because he told Ted to tell me he couldn't make it half an hour late, that makes it ok?
"What could have been so important? Did Sam call? Or is there another girlfriend you haven't told me about? Was she pregnant too?"
"If you must know my sister was in a car crash" He bit back. My shoulders relaxed a bit, oh god, I'm such an idiot.
"Randy, I'm so sorry, I didn't know" This time it was him that laughed.
"Of course not, because it's still all about Mickie, right?" Was the last thing he said before he turned and walked out the door. I gave out a frustrated growl and looked over to Ted.
"You should go after him" He told me. I knew he was right, I know I wouldn't be able to think straight if me and Randy were finding. "Wait! I change my mind! Don't leave me! I don't want to be, all by myself!" He started to sing, I grabbed my bag and ran out the door to catch up with him. He wasn't far off.
"Randy" I called out. He kept walking, but I caught up and pulled him to face me. "I'm really sorry" He didn't look at me. "How is she?" I asked him.
"She got off lucky" He shrugged. I didn't know what to say, I felt like hitting myself. "She was involved in shit with her boyfriend, she wants to escape him so she is going to come on the road with us for a bit" He told me, I nodded. "Oh wait, I forgot to gain your approval over it" He said sarcastically.
"Randy" I could hear my own voice and it was full of hurt, why is he being so spiteful? "I'm sorry, I was just upset over last night, I guess I'm just paranoid about loosing you again" He looked at me and sighed.
"Don't apologise, I'm just being a dick" He pulled me into a hug. "I didn't get much sleep last night and I've been worrying about Becky, I didn't mean to take it out on you" I nodded into his chest. "God, I really am an idiot, how was you suppose to know?" He then pulled away and put his hands on each side of my shoulders. "And I hate that you feel paranoid, I don't want you to feel like that"
"I'm just being stupid" I told him.
"Hey" I looked at him. "After everything I've put you through, I don't blame you" I half smiled at him. "Do you want to come to the hospital with me? I could really do with the company…your company" I nodded, we walked hand in hand to his car.
It was weird. None of the locker room know of anything going on between me and Randy so if anyone did see us, they must of thought it was pretty weird, we are suppose to hate each other! We got into the car, he started up the car when we heard the back door of the car open, we turned around to see Ted getting in. "I'm not staying up there on my own" I laughed at him. "Waiting for some clown face emo to come and grab me, I don't think so!" Randy gave me a confused look.
"I will tell you about it on the way" I told him, we then heard the door open again, we turned around to see Cody.
"Hey guys!" He was in a happy mood this morning. "Where you off to?"
"The hospital to see Randy's sister" I replied.
"Can I come?" He asked, I looked over for Randy's approval, he nodded.
"Have you got a car?" I asked him. He nodded. "Then follow on" I smiled at him.
"Yey! Road trip" Cody ran to his car, I looked at Ted confused.
"Why is he so happy?" I asked Ted.
"He probably got laid last night"
Thanks for clearing that up Ted! It was a ten minute journey to the hospital, I hadn't really thought about it, but I was just about to meet Randy's sister.
Becky's P.O.V
"I swear to God, if you don't, then I'll do it for you!" Randy ordered as he lay on the end of my bed and stuffed his face with the very chocolate that he had brought for me.
"I said I will, so I will. And even if I didn't," I added threateningly, "it's my life. Not yours."
Randy smirked, "I disagree. I am your big brother, so I pretty much control your life, Rebecca."
"We live in different towns!" I exclaimed, "Randall."
"Not if you take me up on my offer… are you going to?"
I bit my lip but instantly regretted it when a spasm of pain shot through it, "Ouch. Erm… I think I will. If that's okay."
Before Randy could say anything, the door burst open and a dark-haired guy and girl stood there.
"Sorry," the girl panted, "We had to sneak past the nurse. She was all like 'only family' and so Cody paid this little girl five bucks to pretend she was having a fit."
"Err. Okay." Randy rolled his eyes at them and then turned to me, "These are some… friends of mine… do you want anything?"
I smiled briefly, "Actually, do you mind getting me a drink?" I studied the girl and the guy. I felt like I knew the guy from somewhere but I was having a hard time placing the girl.
"I'll come with you," the girl suggested.
Randy grinned before getting to his feet and following the girl out of the room. The dark-haired guy hovered nervously.
"I'll be one moment," Randy insisted to me and then looked at the guy, "call me if anything happens." He closed the door behind him hurriedly.
"Bloody hell," I sighed, "You'd think I was in intensive care, not 'in for overnight observation'."
The guy grinned and took a few steps towards me, "I don't know if we've been introduced. I'm Cody Rhodes, we met-"
"-for like ten seconds at my brother's wedding." I remembered and then shook his outstretched hand, "I'm Becky Orton. Hopefully you erased the memory of me dancing the funky chicken from your mind."
"I don't think that'll ever be erased from my mind… especially when Randy joined you."
l laughed at the memory, "The things I can bully my brother into. The 'sweet, little sister card' is so fun to pull."
Cody joined in with my laughter, before asking in a low voice "Did you get on with Sam?"
I scrunched up my nose slightly, "I was never sure. Every time we met, she was always really nice to me but I always got the feeling that she was fake – and if you think that I'm just saying that because she turned out to be a psychotic killer and kidnapper, then you can ask my other brother, Nathan. We used to bitch about her."
"Well, that's the girl." Cody joined a thumb in the direction of the door, "That's the one who Sam went all psychotic over."
"That was Mickie? I've always wanted to meet her. Are they dating?" I asked eagerly.
"Well… they were supposed to have their first date last night but… erm…" Cody seemed to suddenly find his feet more interesting.
I groaned slowly, "Brilliant. The annoying little sister decided to get into a car accident and ruin the big man's date."
Cody smiled sympathetically, "They've been through a lot worse – and I hardly think it's your fault. What happened?" He then looked embarrassed, as if he had said too much, "If you don't mind me asking."
I waved a hand dismissively, "Randy was in town, so I decided to go and see him considering my boyfriend has turned into a possessive psychopath – what is it with the Orton kids – but he followed me and crashed his car into mine, although he claims it was by accident. He ends up with a couple of hours in hospital and a bloody nose. I get a body-cast of bruises and 'overnight observation.'"
"Nice. He sounds like a real charmer."
"Tell me about it! And I know karma's a bitch but I can't help getting the feeling that the wrong person got the dose of karma."
"Well you know, karma can sometimes get confused when there are two people in one small place," Cody reasoned with a smirk.
"That does make sense," I agreed with a chuckle, "I mean, he was the one who was getting all pushy about getting engaged. We've only known each other for two years."
"Maybe karma felt that you should get engaged, so punished you for denying the idea!" Cody suggested.
"Well, it had the opposite effect since I should technically be calling him my ex-boyfriend."
"Car crash and loss of girlfriend in the space of two days. I bet this has been a happy weekend for him."
"You should hear Randy. He's thrilled but that might be because he is way too over-protective of me."
"I can't imagine Randy being over-protective of anyone!"
"I don't blame you. Randy doesn't like anyone." I grinned knowingly, "Although, he might make an exception for his 'bitches'."
Cody stared at me for a moment before fighting off a grin, "If you're talking about Ted and me…"
"Hey, 'bitches' could be perceived as a term of endearment when it comes to my brother."
Cody laughed, "I can't deny that. At least he knows our name… although he did call us 'Tody and Ced' once."
I chuckled, "The sad thing is, it wouldn't surprise me."
Cody grinned and I couldn't help noticing that he had a really hot smile but quickly pushed the thought out of my mind.
"So, what do you do?"
"Photographer." I explained, "Always been obsessed with it, right from when I was a little kid. It's the only job I've ever considered."
"That sounds pretty cool. What do you specialise in?"
"I used to work for a company that took wedding photos, then a little place that took family photos and now I work for a magazine."
"Paparazzi?"
"No. No way. I take photos of the models and assist running the photo-shoot. At least, I did. I plan to get out of this town."
Cody nodded and opened his mouth to say something when the door open and my brother stood there with a drink in his hands.
The girl followed him in and I realized that they were both wearing identical lovey-dovey smiles, causing Cody and I to exchange smirks.
"I don't think we've been properly introduced," She walked over to me and held out her hand, smiling broadly, "I'm Mickie James – and you're Becky. Obviously."
"Right. It's great to finally meet you." I beamed. Ever since Nathan and I heard Randy and Sam have a small argument over her when they came to stay with us, we had both been dying to meet her.
Mickie smiled, seemingly pleased with my reaction.
The four of us chatted for a little while before a nurse came along and busted Mickie and Cody.
"Hey, can you do me a favour?" I asked, grabbing Randy's arm.
"Anything."
"Can you drive my car back the hotel?"
Randy looked confused, "Didn't it get totalled in the accident?"
"Nope. That was me. My car's practically indestructible. It's badly bumped at the front and scratched at the back but the insurance company is picking it up tomorrow but when they asked where to pick it up, I said the hotel but they're coming tomorrow morning…"
"No, sure, that's fine. I'll take it back." Randy nodded, "But I'm warning you, if something goes wrong and I die, I'm coming back to haunt you."
"Fair deal."
"I'll come with you." Mickie nodded at Randy, who threw a dopey grin. Wow. He hadn't even looked at Sam like that. She then turned to me, "I'm sure I'll see you around then."
"I guess so." I agreed and felt quite pleased, Mickie was much nicer than I expected her to be. And she didn't seem fake. I glanced at Cody, "And I'll probably see you again at some point."
"Sure." He grinned at me, "It was nice meeting you – properly, this time."
"You too."
Randy nodded at them, "I'm just going to have a word with my sister. Do you guys mind?" Randy asked, they both nodded and slipped outside.
"What's up?"
"I was just wondering what you thought!"
"About…?"
"Mickie!"
"I like her." I told him honestly, "I get good vibes from her… is she your girlfriend?"
Randy frowned, "I don't know. I think so… I mean…"
"You think so?" I sighed, "Randy, ask her out properly. Confirm it. Make it official. Otherwise you're both going to get confused."
Randy smirked slightly before helping himself to more chocolate, "Sorry about leaving you with Cody earlier," Randy mumbled through a mouthful of food.
"No problem. He was actually really nice. I like him."
Randy practically choked and then glared at me, "What?"
I tutted and rolled my eyes, "I'm sorry. I said 'I am completely in love with him and was fighting off an urge to jump on him right there and then'. God, Randy! I meant it as a compliment. Mickie is really nice too."
Randy just narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
Oh brother.
Mickie's P.O.V
I was happy when Randy returned, he came to see me straight away which made me feel giddy. I took a deep sigh as I ran my fingers down Randy's chest. "I'm sorry about last night and this morning"
"It's fine" I told him smiling.
"No it's not fine, I'm such an ass sometimes" He shook his head. "I don't deserve you, you know that"
"Don't say that" I brought him into my room and we laid on the bed.
"I was going to do this last night, but since that never happened and although this is a little less romantic then I would of liked to of hoped, but Mickie" Was he going to ask…? "Will you be my girlfriend?"
The biggest smile spread onto my face. "Do you even have to ask? Of course!" I straddled him as I hugged him. I was officially Randy Orton's girlfriend, I felt like the luckiest woman of the planet!
