How Taking Down Legacy Failed

Mickie's P.O.V

"Mickie" Ted yelled after me, I kept walking. I felt myself being hauled back. "How long are you going to keep ignoring me for?"

"Until you see sense" I replied to him, he sighed heavily and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Please, I'm really sorry what I said yesterday, I was just angry, you know I didn't mean any of it, just please talk to me"

"Ted I…"

"I'm happy Mickie, isn't that the most important thing?" Of course I wanted him to be happy, but I know it won't be long until that happiness turns into heart break.

"It won't last long; she is just going to hurt you again"

"I'm a big boy, I can look after myself" I tapped my foot impatiently. "Besides, Randy hurt you a few times before you started being ok and I'm not saying anything bad against him, just that it worked out the best for you, so maybe it will work out for the best for me"

"This isn't about me and Randy"

"It's a similar situation, I didn't stand in the way of you two being together and you shouldn't do that for me" I sighed. "Please, I don't want to loose my best friend over this"

"Well neither do I, but I can't just sit and wait for you to get hurt"

"I can't bear fighting with you, please, I really can't" I walked away, I heard him growl frustrated.

Ted's P.O.V

"Women" I groaned, I turned and went back to my hotel room; I opened the door where Melina was putting her earrings in.

"Hey babe" She leaned up to kiss me. "Something wrong?"

"Yeah" I replied scratching the back of my head. "Just come back from talking with Mickie, she isn't happy"

"Well who gives a damn about what she thinks, we're happy right?" I nodded. "Well that's all that counts"

"She is my best friend Melina and I don't want to loose her"

"Ted, she isn't always going to approve of your girlfriends, have you ever thought of the fact that she might be jealous?" I gave Melina an odd look.

"Why would she be jealous?" I asked her confused.

"Well, for awhile it was just you and her and now that I'm in the picture, she may feel like I'm trying to take you away" Melina pointed out, I thought about it for a moment, but shook my head.

"She has Randy now and I assume she would want me to be happy with someone so I can hang out with them, whilst she is having her couple time with Randy" I replied to her, she looked to the side. "She thinks your going to hurt me like last time"

"Shouldn't know all about second chances?" Melina asked me, I had to agree with her there, I at least gave Mickie a little credit that she might understand due to her similar circumstances with Randy.

"Yeah, you would think" I sighed. Melina sat on my lap, she started to kiss me, but I just couldn't get into it. It felt wrong knowing how Mickie felt about this whole thing, Melina sensed it. She stood up and started to pace.

"Are you ashamed of me?" I starred at her in shock, how could she think that?

"Of course not!"

"Then why do you even care what she thinks? If you want to be with me, be with me"

"It's not that simple" I told her.

"Yes Ted, yes it is, your making it more difficult then it has to be" She snapped, this whole thing was stressing me out, I laid back onto the bed and covered my head with my hands. "Stand up for me, when she insults me, defend me"

"Melina…I…"

"No Ted, stop letting her control your life" She starred at me angrily, before walking out of the room.

"Arghh" I grabbed my jacket and keys and headed out to go look for Mickie.

Becky's P.O.V

"You all right?"

My head snapped up so quickly that I practically gave myself whiplash, "Fine!" I squeaked.

Randy gave me a puzzled look, "Err… are you sure?"

"I'm fine! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well… I was just asking to be polite but now you're being all weird and squeaky…" Randy was staring at me as if I had two heads. Mickie stood next to him and observed me quietly.

"I just stubbed my toe!" I explained quickly.

"Right."

I smiled but out of the corner of my eye, I saw stupid Cody enter the stupid hotel bar with stupid Ashley, so I slunk down lower into my stupid chair by the bar.

"Err… Bex?" Mickie asked, sounding quite concerned.

I peered up at them – yes, I had slunk that low into my chair – and said in a high voice, "Yes?"

"Do you think I should call a doctor?" Randy whispered.

"I'm fine!" I quickly sat back up but waved my arms about to show I was fine, so successfully knocked my drink over. Thousands of shards of glass flew everywhere.

Oh well done.

Randy was staring at me and actually looked quite anxious, "I need to go but…" he looked at Mickie, "Can you make sure she doesn't do anything weirder."

"I'll try." Mickie grinned.

I averted my eyes as they kissed goodbye. Not because it grossed me out but because it reminded me of the 'unfortunate incident of yesterday'.

As soon as he left, Mickie sat down next to me and gave me a serious look.

"Err… lovely weather, we're having." I offered into the silence.

Mickie just raised her eyebrows before saying, "So, last week… you and Cody?"

"I was showing him something!" I explained but then cringed. Did that sound 'wrong'?

"What, how to kiss?"

"I wasn't the one who came onto him! It was a mutual thing… not that anything happened." Then.

"Did you want something to happen?"

"What I want is irrelevant." Which was true.

"He has a girlfriend," Mickie reminded.

"I'm unfortunately aware of that." I could sense them on the other side of the room together. God. I hated him.

"Does Randy know?"

"I don't think Cody would be alive if he did." I pointed out and Mickie smiled, in spite of herself.

"So I suppose you want me to keep what I know to myself…" Mickie was looking uncertain.

"Well, what is it that you think you know?" I asked innocently.

"That something is going on!" Mickie sounded exasperated, "Hearing anything will get Randy fired up, you know how protective he gets."

"Nothing is going on!" I exclaimed, "It was just one tiny little making out session last night…"

"There was a kiss?" Mickie practically yelled, looking flabbergasted.

I froze and cleared my throat, "Err… I thought you knew that."

"No! I know you nearly kissed but…"

"Well, now I would appreciate it if you kept THAT to yourself!"

"You're asking me to lie to Randy?"

"No. I'm asking you to keep Cody alive!"

That made Mickie laugh but she was soon solemn again, "What are you going to do?"

I thought about it for a moment before saying sadly, "There's nothing I can do."

Mickie opened her mouth to reply but at that moment, Ted came over.

"Mickie, can we talk, please?" He begged.

I turned away from them and my eyes fell on Cody and Ashley. My stomach squirmed horribly when I saw her lean towards him and kiss him.

"I have nothing to say." Mickie said in a cold voice.

I knew that I should pull my eyes away but I couldn't. When she finally pulled away, she muttered something into his ear. He laughed, nodded and then they both got to their feet.

"Just hear me out." Ted pleaded.

I quickly pulled my gaze away but couldn't resist a sneaky glance as they left the bar, which, coincidentally was the moment that Cody glanced over at me. We held eye contact for a moment before he disappeared.

When I turned back round to face Mickie, I saw Ted in her place instead, ordering something from the barman.

"Err… Mickie… that was a quick change."

Ted jerked a thumbed him and I saw Mickie follow the direction of Cody and Mickie, looking upset.

"She hates me." He said miserably and drunk half of his drink in one gulp.

"Don't be stupid. You're her best friend." I gestured to Ted to signify another drink and then pointed to myself. I needed to take my mind off things.

"She hates me," Ted insisted and turned his face me, "I guess I can understand why… I was having a secret relationship with her ex best friend… and also one of the girls that she caught her boyfriend in bed with."

I stared at him, "One of the girls?"

Ted smiled weakly before draining the rest of his drink and ordering another one. I took a sip of my own and felt the unpleasant squirm in my stomach soften slightly – even though it was just the tiniest bit. I took another sip.

"Don't ask." Ted dismissed, "But I really like Melina… is that so wrong?"

"Sometimes we like the ones who are worst for us." I told him sadly.

"Maybe I should have told her!" Ted burst, "But I know how much she hates Melina! It's not like either of us are involved with anyone else… its not like some dirty affair!"

I froze before taking a longer gulp of my drink.

"It sucks to be fighting with your best friend," I consoled.

"That's not the worst part." Ted said grimly, "Melina and I had an argument too. She thinks I'm ashamed of 'us'."

"Are you?"

"No!" Ted insisted and ordered another drink. I was surprised when I realized I had finished mine and ordered another one too. "I'm not, it's just Mickie I'm concerned about… she's had enough betrayal and I didn't want to add to it… she'd have gotten suspicious if I started defending Melina… but she found out anyway." He heaved a long sigh and consumed another drink.

"And now they're both pissed off?"

"Yeah." He punched me on the shoulder – and not softly either! – and said, "Life sucks."

"Tell me about," I scoffed and drunk my whole glass in one to make myself feel better.

"What's wrong?" Ted asked curiously, noticing how I had drunk the whole drink. He ordered another round.

"Oh. Well. I realized I liked a friend more than a friend. Then we almost kissed but got interrupted by another friend. Then I went to go and talk to him and then found out that he had a girlfriend. Then I went on a double date with the guy and his girlfriend and some other guy and the original guy got really… I don't know… angry at the other guy and then we had an argument later and then we made out and now we're both pretending it never happened," I said quickly.

Ted blinked at me for a moment before turning to the barman, "Make it a double."

Mickie's P.O.V

"Hey Codykins" I greeted Cody as I walked into the hotel room. He was putting something into a calculator and just nodded at me. "What you got there?" I asked him.

"A calculator, I want to see how much I've spent this month"

"As you do" I chuckled and sat next to him. I switched on the TV and to my surprise, Saved by the bell was on! "Oh epic" Cody looked up and put the calculator on the table, I think I got way too into it, I started going mad in lip singing the song and as I jumped up, I accidentally punched Cody in the nose.

"Awf" I put my hands over my mouth and looked at Cody, who reached for his nose and then looked at me. "Mickie what the fuck? You just tried to kill me!"

"I was bored" I grinned innocently at him.

"Oh ok" He shrugged. "So we're cool now?"

"Suppose" I signed before hugging him apologetically. We went back to watching Saved by the bell.

"Nerds" Zack and Slater said at the same time, I chuckled.

"I know too many nerds!" I laughed too myself. Cody raised his brow.

"Like who?"

"Like, Ted, my cousin and oh you" I teased, Cody gave me an offended look.

"I am not going to take this kind of abuse! I am not a nerd" He walked out of the room. Two seconds later he returned. "I forgot my calculator" and walked away.

Becky's P.O.V

"You know," Ted slurred slightly, "When we first met, I thought you were just a little girl."

"I'm only a few years younger than you." I laughed.

"I know, I know!" Ted nodded, "But I felt all groan up."

"Groan up?"

"Yeah!" Ted nodded, "So, anyway, you were blatinately… blatancy… blatantly in love with me!" Ted stabbed a finger in his chest, "I didn't really see you as an… equal." He flourished the last word.

"And now?" I grinned.

"Now," he pointed at me, "I see you as an equal!" He looked pleased, "This guy don't know what he's missing!"

"Thanks!"

"Although," he smirked, "I know that you'll always be in love with me!"

"You pish."

"Pish?"

"Wish!" I laughed uncontrollable, even though it wasn't particularly funny. I had had more than I usually did and it was starting to take an effect.

"You knowed your brother?"

"I knowed my brother."

"I am not scared of him!"

"No?"

"No! Me brave man." He sounded proud, "No big man scare me!"

I had to clutch him because I was laughing so much and he joined soon enough.

"I have funny pictures of him from childhood!" I remembered, springing up slightly.

"Me must steal for blackmail!"

"Fine! Fine! Fine!" I sang and hopped off the stool, "Ted. Come!"

Ted grinned and followed me – the barman knew who we were, so put the drinks on our tabs, in case you're wondering –, we skipped upstairs for no apparent reason.

"Let's play poker!" Ted decided as soon as we reached my room, the photos apparently forgotten.

Ted suddenly dropped to his knees and stuck his nose into the carpet.

"What are you doing?"

"In the commercials, people to do this to smell carpet! Me too." Ted's voice was muffled.

"Right." I walked over to the mini fridge but forgot about Ted and tripped over him. "Ouch."

He chuckled and rolled over to lie next to me, "So. I was lying in bed staring at the stars one night and then I thought where the fuck is my roof?"

"So old." I scolded but it reminded me of something that Cody would say and the feeling began creeping back in my stomach.

"What's that frown for? It's not that old."

"Ted." I said sadly, "He has a girlfriend."

Ted nodded and gently took my hand, the two of us still lying on the floor, "I know. My girlfriend and best friend hate me."

"Okay you win."

"Only be a little bit."

We both grinned at each other.

Mickie's P.O.V

"Oh there you are" Randy said walking into the room and kissing my cheek.

"Where else would I be?" I replied laughing at him, I put my arms around his neck and brought him down for another kiss.

"Making up with Ted" He hinted. I broke the connection I had around his neck and walked back to the mini fridge. "I take it you two still haven't made up"

"Nope" I replied simply, I didn't want to talk about it, it was like I couldn't avoid the subject.

"I thought you were going to fix it" I just shrugged in reply. Randy came over to me, stood behind me and put his arms around me and rested his head on my back. "Don't you think you are being just a little hard on him?"

"He lied to me, its not so hard to forgive" I replied, leaning my head back to rest of his shoulders.

"For a good reason, look how you've reacted" Randy pointed out, but not nastily, I sighed.

"I just have a bad feeling"

"Your heart is in the right place, you don't want him getting hurt, but it will be his mistake which he will learn from" Since when did Randy become so wise.

"He didn't learn from last time" I retorted and turned around to face him, he placed his hands on my hip.

"If you don't let him do this, he will always be wondering what if and you don't want him to secretly resent you for it" Randy told me.

"You think he would hate me?" I asked him, that was the last thing I wanted.

"I don't know babe, it's possible" He stroked my hair as I rested against his chest. "You can't protect him forever, there are going to be loads more girls that will hurt him, it will only make it better when he finally finds the right girl" I looked at Randy and grinned and poked his chest. "You tell everyone about how sensitive I am and I will RKO you" He teased.

"Pssh, I could take you on" I replied smugly, he gave me a challenging look.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah"

"Well then I guess" He turned to walk away when he suddenly turned around and picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.

"Randall!" I gasped. "This behaviour is not acceptable" I smacked his butt.

"Two can play at that game" He then smacked my butt!

"Ow, you smacked me!"

"Well you smacked me first" Randy pointed out.

"Don't be so childish" I replied smirking like a smart ass. "Dumbass" I coughed out.

"What was that?" He looked over his shoulder at me and cocked up a brow.

"Oh, nothing, your mind is playing tricks on you" I said innocently. "Dumbass" I muttered.

"Hmm, maybe I should just strip you and run with you down to the lobby" I could almost feel his smirk.

"You wouldn't…"

"Oh I would"

"You can't do that! It's outrageous! It's inhuman! It's, it's…wait, will Sheamus be there?"

"That tares it!" Randy started to walk to the door with me still on his shoulder.

"NOOO!" I grabbed onto the door frame. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Put me down! I'M FEELING APOLOGETIC!"

"Why should I?" He asked.

"Because only a dumbass wouldn't" He shrugged and tried to pull me out again, but I wouldn't let go of the door frame. "I will not be moved! I…OW! My nail" I let go of the door frame for a split second and Randy took advantage. "NOOO!" I yelled out. I could feel his shoulders shaking from him laughing. Alright think Mickie, think, I have an idea… I swung my leg.

"Fuck" Randy cursed and slipped to the door, I was still on his shoulder, but at this height it was easy to hop off, I ran back to the hotel room.

"Dumbass" I yelled down to corridor at Randy who was still on his knee. I sat on the couch looking smug until he walked in.

"I have a bad knee from wrestling you know" He said walking in limping.

"Oh shit" I ran up to him to check on him. "Are you ok?"

"Gotcha" He smirked and picked me up again. This time I was ready and started to squirm, he picked me up from the ground, but I was fighting for my freedom!

"You bastard! You worried me!" I said once I was back on the ground.

"Well you shouldn't of kicked me then, should you?"

"You cause me all kind of distress!" I placed my hands on my hips. He drawled up to me and kissed my fore head.

"I enjoy your little rages"

"I think you owe me an apology" I said crossing my arms.

"I owe you an apology? You kicked my leg and I'm pretty sure you were aiming for another area…."

"Do you have any proof?" I asked him.

"Do not use that on me or I really will take you down to the lobby naked"

"Who do you think you are to be issuing all these kinds of threats" I said jokily, squaring up to him.

"Oh they are not threats…they are more like promises"

"I don't think your in the right place to be issuing these kinds of threats"

"I'll hurt Sheamus…"

"Oh now you are way out of line!" I wagged my finger at him.

"Now behave and don't annoy me" Randy kissed my forehead and planted himself in front of the TV.

I went up to him. "Not touching, can't get mad *Puts hand near face*"

"You see you need Ted to do this kind of stuff with!"

"Don't say that traitors name in my room!"

"Don't you think you are over reacting just a little?"

"About what?"

"About Ted" Randy repeated.

"What did I just say!"

"But you…"

"I don't want to hear your excuses!"

"You are bringing this on yourself" Randy sighed, I starred at him confused, when he suddenly charged at me, catching me off guard, he was able to pick me up bridal style and carry me out the room. He dumped me just outside our room. "Now go make up with Ted" He instructed

"Fine" I mumbled. "Why do you want me to make up with Ted so bad?" I asked him curiously.

"I hate to see you upset" He told, I smiled at him, he was so sweet. "That and I need someone to watch the USA vs. England match next week"

"Oh I see how things work around here"

"Remember, be nice"

"I'm always nice"

The Next Morning

Mickie's P.O.V

"Morning" Randy kissed my neck and draped his arm around me. "Did you find Ted?"

"No" I replied, he gave me a look. "I looked for him! Honest! But I couldn't find him, I am not to blame here!"

"He couldn't of gone too far, did you check his room?"

"No, I didn't think about that" I replied sarcastically, he nudged me. "I asked Cody, he didn't know"

"What about Becky?"

"Couldn't find her either, but I did find Melina, she looked pissed"

"Do you think her and Ted had a fight?"

"Maybe" I answered him.

"Well then he is going to really need you right now" Randy ran his fingers through my hair. "Maybe he called it off with her because its affect your friendship"

"Oh god" I groaned burying my head in my hands.

"I thought that is what you wanted?" Randy asked me confused.

"Yeah, but then I got thinking about how you said how he might resent me because of it"

"Maybe she called it off with him"

"I knew she would hurt him" I mumbled to myself. "Stupid bitch"

"Hey, I'm just throwing suggestions here, we don't know that for a fact" Randy rubbed my back, I leaned my head back and rested on his shoulder.

"I wonder where he is" I really needed to talk to him now, I couldn't shake this feeling of being desperate to make up with him. I don't know how to approach him, I don't like admitting I was wrong, but then again, I don't feel I am wrong, ah god, I don't know what to think. Where the hell is he? He couldn't of gotten far…

Becky's P.O.V

I lay in my bed, feeling more exposed than I ever had. Ted lay next to me. Neither of us had said anything. At all. I tried not to concentrate on the fact that he was naked.

"Well, that was stupid." I finally said.

"Very stupid. We forget it ever happens, agreed?"

"Agreed." I said quickly, "We were drunk and high on emotion."

"Exactly!"

"Great!"

"Great!"

"Thrilled that's sorted!"

"Me too."

"Me too!"

There was another long pause.

"You know, this doesn't really help you convince me that you don't have a crush on me anymore."

"Ted… shut up."
