"You have two worksheets! One is divided in half, meaning you would have to work with a partner! The other is for homework!" Mr. Dane had explained.

You know what I hate as much as falling in front of the whole class? It's working with partners.

I put my head down on my desk hoping that everyone would just ignore me and pick their partner until I am left working by myself.

"Ms. Steele, I believe that next time is right now." This could only be Christian.

I don't raise my head, totally ignoring his presence.

I feel a chair move beside me.

It's being dragged closer to me.

And now it's right in front me.

"Let's get to work." I hear him say.

I pull my head up only to see gray eyes. His face was right in front of mine. Too close... Way too close. Close enough for a kiss. I shake the thought as he raised an eyebrow and gives me a smirk.

"Your eyes are blue." He says, stating the obvious.

I pull back to lean on my chair. Trying to ignore the tension that I was feeling.

"Good job, Captain Obvious." I snap at him.

"You have a smart mouth, Ms. Steele." He said, stating the obvious yet again.

What is it with his Ms. Steele?

"Do you always make such personal observations?" I ask.

His expression changes, "I didn't realize I was..."

I abruptly changed the subject when I realized he was upset. "Let's get to work, partner." I forced a smile.

The worksheet was about the cause and effects of the Revolutionary War. I took the job of looking for the causes and his job was to figure out the effects.

I was on the fifth "cause" when I realized he wasn't doing any work. I knew it, I knew it. I knew I was going to be left with doing the rest of this damn worksheet.

I look up at him only to find him staring at me. "What? Why aren't you working?" I asked.

"I need your causes." He gives me a smirk.

I give him the paper and wait.

"Why did you transfer here?" I ask, trying to break the silence.

"I got kicked out." He replies calmly, like it was normal to get kicked out of school on a daily basis.

"Kicked out? Why?" Now I'm intrigued.

"I beat someone at school grounds. The school wasn't very happy with me." He looks up at me to see my reaction and I just stare at him in shock. "What? Are you afraid of me?"

"No. I just can't picture you doing that." I said as I imagined him with a black eye.

"Oh believe me, I'm capable of doing many things." He sounded like he was trying to scare me.

"Is writing faster one of your many talents?" I ask, still waiting for him to finish and in hopes that it would lighten the mood.

"Yeah, here." He gives me the paper and smiles. "How about you? Tell me about yourself."

"There's not much...hmm, I've never gotten kicked out for beating someone up, I can tell you that... And what else... Oh, I don't intimidate people with my pretty eyes." I say as I bat my eyelashes.

"I intimidate you?" He asks.

"Who wouldn't be intimidated by you?" I throw the question back at him.

"Oh, good." He looks pleased with himself. "You should be intimidated."

What the hell is wrong with this kid? What's his game?

The bell rings and I finish with the last cause. I give him the paper, "I'm pretty sure you can take that home and finish it for homework. Just don't forget to turn it in tomorrow. I don't want a zero."

"What's your next class?" He asks, totally disregarding what I just told him.

"Chemistry. And please don't tell me you have Chemistry with me as well because I don't think I can take three hours of your intimidation and annoying-ness." I told him.

"I don't think 'annoying-ness' is a word and no, no I don't. I have Economics for my next class." He says looking quite disappointed but also amused.

"Oh, good." I say to him, smiling.

I was quite relived to hear that I wouldn't have to spend three hours with him everyday and that he wouldn't be my lab partner.

"I'll see you around, Christian." I turn around and walk away, feeling a pair of Grey eyes follow me as I walked out.
