How Taking Down Legacy Failed
Mickie's P.O.V
"How the hell did I let you talk me into this?" Randy groaned as I dragged him out of the car.
"Because you love me" I teased.
"In fact, how the hell did you persuade Ted & Cody?" He whined, placing his hands on my hips.
"They love me too" I replied, watching as Becky was now dragging those two out of the car. Tonight we were at ….a karaoke bar! Me and Becky had planned it, but when we brought it up to the guys, they weren't as enthusiastic as we were! But we could be pretty persuasive when we want to be, that and Becky can scare the crap out of Ted & Cody, I was in charge of getting Randy to come.
"Ted! Let go" Becky growled, Ted grabbed onto the car door and would not let go of it.
"I've changed my mind! Take me home!"
"You are going and that's final"
"Don't make me! I don't want to sing!" Becky pulled on his legs. "Get your hormonal girlfriend away from me Cody!"
"If you don't let go, I'll show you hormonal" Becky threatened.
"Randall, stop making out with your girlfriend and get your sister off me!" Ted yelled over to us, Randy scoffed and returned back to kissing me. Becky soon hurled him from the car. Cody sniggered at him.
"What? She's strong" Ted told him rubbing his arm. "OW My wenis! I'm bleeding! My wenis is bleeding"
"Your what is bleeding?" Randy's eyes widened.
"My wenis, dirty!…ouchie" He pouted. "You've really done my arm in, I better go find a doctor, can I use the car?"
"Dude, if I have to suffer through this, so are you" Randy slapped his arm on his back and pushed him forward by the back of his neck.
"You guys go find us a table, me and Becky are going to go to the ladies room" I told them. "Make sure they don't go anywhere" I warned Randy.
"Can I come?" Ted perked up, we all starred at him oddly.
"Err no Ted, you can't." Becky said to him slowly. "So err, yeah, off we go!"
If only they knew what we were really doing!
10 minutes later
"Apart from the Karaoke, this place isn't too bad" Ted grinned, looking at his menu. "Yes…Charlie" Ted said slowly, reading the name tag of our waiter. "I would like a plain burger please"
"Would you like cheese with that?"
"Err….yes"
"Say Ted, why don't you go up there?" I jerked my thumb to the karaoke booth, it was currently being used by a lady in her mid thirties singing to grease.
"Me?" Ted scoffed. "No way baby, just no"
"Go on Ted!" Becky encouraged him.
"I said no ladies"
"Oh c'mon Ted, live a little!"
"I'm a wrestler, not a singer"
"So?" Becky shrugged.
"So therefore, I don't sing"
"Go sing your ass off!" Becky pushed him.
"Why don't you go and cook your ass off?" Ted shot back. "I'm not going up there, you might as well give up because nothing you can say will make me"
"Please Ted, it will make your god child giggle" I rubbed my belly at him.
"Mickie, you hear that?"
"Err no"
"Exactly" He said smugly leaning back, I turned to Randy who just shrugged.
"Randy, tell him!"
"Babe, if he doesn't want to go up you can't exactly make him" Randy told me placing his hand on the back of my chair.
"You can turn into snake boy and go after him" I suggested.
"It's not snake boy" He gritted his teeth. "It's the viper babe"
"I know our baby will really appreciate it" I now rubbed my belly at him.
"Your going to use the baby card a lot aren't you" Cody chucked, I just grinned and winked.
"Cody, can you buy me a drink?" Becky asked placing her hand on my stomach.
"Get it yourself dear" Cody smirked.
Becky looked at my stomach. "This thing doesn't work"
"Ted, get your butt up there!" I whined, stamping my feet. "I want to hear you sing"
"I'm never going up there, never ever and that baby is final!" Ted told us sternly, I slumped back in my seat and muttered 'asshole' under my breath, but loud enough for Ted to hear, then we all went quiet. "Much better now…"
"The next song to be sung is Breaking Free from High School Musical" The announcer said.
Ted snorted from behind his menu. "What loser would do that song, such a noob"
"So singing Breaking Free is Ted Dibiase! Come on up Ted, the stage is all yours!"
"Hey, the guy has the same name as me" Ted looked around the room, he then looked slightly confused before finally his eyes widened, he looked around the room again, then he turned to me and Becky who could not hide the grins. Randy was spluttering with laughter and Cody had a hand to his mouth trying to look away. "You didn't?"
"Oh, but we did" Becky told him, leaning back in her chair.
"Oh you guys are legends" Cody said laughing, clapping his hands like a seal.
"I can't believe you….I said no….you disobeyed me…I am….you are….argg!" He threw his hands up.
"Ted Dibiase?" The announcer asked trying to search for him, Ted tried to lower himself into his seat, trying to hide from sight, me and Becky stood up and pointed to him.
"No! Sit! Stop it! How dare you make a fool of me!"
"Go on Ted, it will be fun" Cody taunted.
"And singing with him is his partner, Cody Rhodes!" The announcer went on to say, now it was Cody's eyes that widened.
"You bitches!"
"C'mon Cody, it will be fun" Ted mocked him rolling his eyes.
"The karaoke booth is waiting!" Becky ushered them.
"We aren't doing it" Cody told her firmly.
"Your doing it" She demanded.
"No, we aren't"
"You don't have a choice in this" Becky warned him, Cody just laughed.
"Really? I don't have a choice, you hear that Ted, we don't have a choice"
"Ooo, they are asking for it" I whispered to Randy who nodded.
"And what's a little girl like you going to do about it?" Ted laughed at her, wrong thing to say, Becky's face turned into anger and both Cody and Ted looked scared. She got out of her seat and grabbed Ted and Cody by the scruff of their shirts and literally dragged them out of their seats and threw them up on stage. "She ripped my button!" Ted yelled out, he squinted his eyes when the spot light was on them. The man gave the two of them microphones and the words popped up on the screen.
"Have I ever told you how much I loved you?" Randy turned to me, a huge smile on his face.
"We're soarin', flyin'" Ted started off singing, his singing was in such a low tone, it sounded so funny. Becky had a hand over her mouth and was shaking with laughter. "There's not a star in heaven, That we can't reach"
"If we're trying, So we're breaking free" Tears poured from our eyes as Cody started to sing.
"But your faith it gives me strength, Strength to believe" They sang united softly, Ted glanced over at our table and put his middle finger up at us when he saw how much we were enjoying his suffering.
Here it comes…."We're breakin' free" Ted sang/screamed into his microphone, that was it to have me and Becky on the floor.
"We're soarin" Cody tried to hit the right note, but failed!
"Flying!" Ted spread his arms out, Cody nudged him to stop drawing attention.
"There's not a star in heaven, That we can't reach" They sang united. Ted put his arm around Cody, but Cody shoved him away. "If we're trying, yeah we're breaking free!"
The song slowly dyed down and people clapped them, Ted came and slumped back in his car. "I am never, I repeat never doing that again" He shuddered.
"What a sport ladies and gentlemen, Ted Dibiase has put his name down for another song!"
Ted closed his eyes. "."
"Go on Ted!" I giggled. "You can do it"
Ted hang his head low and he walked up to the karaoke booth. "I don't even know what song you signed me up for!" He yelled over to our table. His head snapped up when he started hearing the music for 'Girls just want to have fun' "Why me, why me!" He cleared his throat loudly into the microphone. "I come home in the morning light" Ted started to sing. "My mother says when you gonna live your life right" He even did a finger wag and a hip wiggle to the audience which we all cheered loudly for. It wasn't long before he started to get kind of into the whole performing thing and was belting out the lyrics, moving his body all over the stage. "Oh girls just want to have fun, They just wanna, they just wanna, girls, girls just wanna have fun, They just wanna have fun...When the working! When the working day is done oh when the working day is done OH GIRLS! GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN"
We all stood up and gave him a standing ovation, it was like Ted was in his own world and his eyes widened and he quickly left the stage when he realised he wasn't even his room just singing along, that he was actually performing in public. For a moment Ted disappeared, but a few minutes later, he was back on our table.
"You did great Theodore" I patted his back.
"What did you expect?" He scoffed, he then smiled evilly.
"What?" I asked him suspiciously.
"Oh nothing" He smiled. "Nothing, nothing, nothing and oh yeah nothing" He then looked at the food Charlie brought for him, there was cheese in his burger. "Wow, plain burgers don't mean anything these days"
"You said you wanted cheese!" I protested.
"No I didn't, I said plain"
"Yeah, but then he asked if you wanted cheese and you said yes"
"No, he asked if I wanted fries"
"No, he didn't"
"Oh"
"Such an idiot"
"And next up singing Justin Beiber, Baby is Mickie James and Becky Orton" It was announced.
Both me and Becky starred at Ted. "Oh look at that, someone must have signed you up, well good luck ladies" Ted smirked.
Me and Becky exchanged looks before getting up. He went up and whispered something into the announcer's ear. "Ladies and gentlemen I have just been informed that for a third time in a row, Ted Dibiase will be up on stage joining Mickie and Becky Orton"
"You have got to be kidding me" Ted groaned, Becky grabbed his wrist and brought him up on stage. We sang through the whole song and me and Becky just let loose and sang it, Ted just moaned through the whole song, it was like 'Baby, baby, baby OHH' and then you would hear 'This isn't fair! I don't even like this song, I want Senior Cuddles!' It was like 'You know you love me, I'm being made a fool out of! I know you care, my self esteem! Just shout whenever, Codykins save me! And I'll be there'
Me and Becky collapsed into giggles as we sat down, Ted just buried his head into his arms. "Do you know what the sad part is?" He lifted his head slightly. "The fact that I've been up there three times tonight"
I laughed at Ted as he pouted, resting his head on the table. I looked around the restaurant, it was pretty full, Ted had a good crowd watching him, I wonder if there's any chance he would do….wait a minute, is that…Justin Gabriel? On a date? Who in their right mind would…oh I have an idea. "Becky" I whispered, she turned her head over to me, I jerked my thumb in Justin's direction, she spent a few minutes trying to gather what I was looking at when she suddenly grinned. We got up from the table, but Ted grabbed hold of our shoulders.
"Oh no you don't, your not signing me up again ladies, I don't think so, sit your nice asses down" He ordered.
"We aren't signing you up" Becky told him, Ted looked at her doubtfully.
"Well your not signing me up either" Randy said taking a sip of his beer.
"Look over there" I said to them, they looked over and then looked back. "It's him we are signing up"
"It best be or I will hunt you two down" Cody warned us, giving us the 'I'm watching you' thing.
"Yeah yeah, alright dashing" Becky rolled her eyes. "C'mon!"
We walked over and signed him up. We walked back to the table in giggles. "What song did you sign him up for babe?" Randy asked me.
"You'll see" I said smugly.
"Next up singing Total Eclipse of the Heart is Justin Gabriel!"
"What?" We heard Justin say, I bit my lip trying to escape my laugh. "I didn't even sign up!" he scanned the crowd and stopped when he saw me, I waved over to him, he did not look happy.
"Go on baby! For me" The woman he was with giggled. Justin walked up to the stage and snatched the microphone from the man's hand.
"Turn around" He sang. "Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming around" Becky put her hands in the air and waved them slowly, I pretended to hold a lighter and waved it around. Ted was pretending to get teary at his singing and Cody & Randy were just holding their stomachs.
"Turn around!" Me and Becky sang for him from where we were sitting.
"Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears" He continued to sing, wrestlers can wrestle, but no way can they sing!
"Turn around!" All our table sang for him.
"Every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by"
"TURN AROUND" Now the whole restaurant was singing the Turn around bit, everyone was really getting into it!
"Every now and then I get a little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes" He was now speaking sarcastically instead of singing.
"Turnaround Justin" It was back to our table just singing.
"Every now and then I fall apart" He mumbled into the microphone.
"Turnaround JUSTIN!" Ted sang at the top of his voice on his own. "Out of my way!" He ran up to the stage, pushed Justin and took over the microphone. "And I need you now tonight, And I need you more than ever, And if you'll only hold me tight, We'll be holding on forever!" We all stared at Ted in amazement, he had actually gone out of his way to get up there. He sang through the rest of the song and took five minutes waving to the crowd telling them he will be there till Tuesday. "NOW THAT IS HOW IT IS DONE!" He yelled at Justin, he sat down and noticed us all starring. "What?" He asked us innocently. "Charlie!" Ted called the waiter. "Ice cream please"
"You go up there and put toppings on it" Charlie replied to Ted.
"We'll do it" I said jumping up, grabbing Ted a bowl and Becky. We rushed up and put all the toppings we could find on Ted's ice cream, it looked disgusting! You couldn't even see the ice cream, we placed it in front of Ted.
"What…is this?"
"Your ice cream, your welcome"
"You can't even see the ice cream!"
"Wow, ungrateful much"
"Oh Charlie, they've ruined it" Ted whined poking at the ice cream with his spoon.
Becky's P.O.V
No matter how many times I protested, Cody was adamant that I was being over-imaginative. "I'm sorry." He'd say, "It's just… Ashley wouldn't kill me. John was probably just messing with your head, like he always does."
I wanted to kill him. However, I tried to push it out of my mind. Ashley had gone home for the day. I didn't have anything to worry about, so I tried to enjoy myself at karaoke.
After enjoying an amazing performance from Ted, Mickie and I excused ourselves to get more drinks.
When we sat back down, the announcer said into the microphone, "Now, Randy Orton with 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'."
There was a pause for a moment before Randy looked at Mickie and me, his eyes dark. "Babe…"
"That wasn't me!" Mickie exclaimed, "Becky, back me up!"
I nodded in agreement, "It wasn't us!"
Randy narrowed his eyes.
"It wasn't!"
His eyes turned to slits.
"Okay. Yeah, it was."
"Mickie! What happened to 'even if he threatens to pull off our fingernails and teeth, we won't tell him'?"
"He turned into snake boy, can you blame me!"
"Babe, it's the viper." Randy corrected again before leaning back in his chair and crossed his arms defiantly, "There is no way I am going up there."
"Mr Orton?"
"Babe, c'mon." Mickie pleaded, rubbing her stomach.
"Unless my child pops their head our right now and tells me to go and sing, there is no way in hell I'm doing that."
Mickie smirked, "I'm not surprised I guess… only a real man would do it… Cody, Ted, Justin… just shows how much of a wimp you are, I suppose, snake boy."
Randy's eyes narrowed once more and Cody, Ted and I held our breath. Would we… would we actually see Randy get up and sing?
Instead, he laughed, "Nice try, babe."
"Worth a shot." I comforted.
"God, do I have to do everything around here?" Ted tutted before he ran his palm through the side of his hair. He pushed his chair back and began making his way to the stage.
"He isn't going to do what I think he's going to do, is he?" Cody gaped.
"Oh baby, baby…"
Ten minutes later
"I'm just going to get something to drink!" I excused, getting to my feet, "Anyone else?"
Mickie and Randy shook their heads (Ted was singing Dancing Queen… and he signed himself up!) but Cody nodded, "Sure, I'll come with you."
He followed me to the bar and I decided now was a good time to tackle the whole Ashley-is-going-to-try-and-kill-you-issue. "Cody…"
"Ashley isn't trying to kill me."
"Cody!"
Cody shook his head, "I don't get why you're listening to John…"
"Kyle said…"
Cody suddenly looked fierce, "I can't believe you went and saw him without telling me."
"I'm sorry, but still he said-"
"Becky. Please. Drop it." He begged. I sighed but nodded reluctantly.
"Fine."
As we waited for the drinks to arrive, I tried to push the thoughts out of my mind again but it was difficult. I didn't know how the heck I was going to get him to believe me. As I listened to Ted blasting out Dancing Queen, Cody cleared his throat slightly.
"So, I'm single."
I stared at him, wondering if this was some strange way of ending our… thing. "Um… what?"
He looked nervous, "Hopefully I won't be in the next ten seconds."
I blinked at him a couple of times, "What… I don't understand… Ashley…?"
He smiled tentatively, "Why do you think she went home?"
I continued staring at him, not truly understanding what he was saying. He had… broken up with Ashley? And he was alive? Maybe I was wrong, maybe she wasn't trying to hurt him and John was just messing with me.
Five minutes later, Randy looked at me in disgust, "Would you two get a room? The only reason I'm allowing this is because Cody's recently out of hospital…" he eyed his friend warily, "Soon, he might be back in."
Cody just laughed, "I don't understand… why are you getting mad at me for kissing my girlfriend?"
"Because-" Randy began but Mickie cut in immediately.
"Did you say girlfriend?"
"I did." Cody said proudly.
Mickie beamed at us as Cody kissed me again.
Ashley Who?
Is that really the last we will see of Ashley? What trouble lies ahead? Will Ted ever sing again ;P
