How Taking Down Legacy Failed
No one's P.O.V
"You alright man?" Cody asked Randy, passing him a cup of coffee.
"No, I'm not fucking alright, I have a killer hang over and I don't have a clue where my pissed off, pregnant fiancé is" Randy yelled in response back at Cody. After it was reveal that Mandy was the girl who Randy had kissed when drunk, Mickie had taken off, it was the morning after and no one had seen or heard from her since.
"Don't take it out on him, it wasn't him who revealed to Mickie that it was Mandy" Becky snapped at him, putting a supportive arm around Cody.
"It's ok" Cody told her.
"You should have stopped me, you knew Becky" Randy told her, clearly aggravated.
"She would have found out eventually Randy, maybe its better it's out there"
"Yeah, better, I don't have a fucking clue where she is and she won't answer my fucking calls, that's better" He spat at her.
"She is probably staying with a friend" Becky tried to calm him down.
Randy just scoffed. "What friend? Her closest friends are here, where the fuck could she have gone?"
"Stop swearing and calm the fuck down!" Becky yelled at him, shoving him away, Randy's eyes flashed dangerously. "This isn't the fucking first time she has gone off, she isn't a fucking child, she knows what she is fucking doing"
"Why the hell is everyone fucking swearing?" Cody yelled, stepping in between Randy and Becky.
"Can you keep it the fuck down?" Ted yelled coming out of the bedroom, holding onto his head. Randy looked as if he was about to kill him. "Some of us are trying to fucking sleep so if you don't fucking mind" Randy took a step forward towards Ted, it was enough to shut him up, this time it wasn't a joke, the viper was really scaring Ted.
"I couldn't find her" Mandy said walking in through the door. "I looked down at the cafe incase she was getting coffee like she does in the mornings"
Randy squeezed his eyes shut and sat down. "We'll find her Randy" Becky put her hand on her brother's shoulder.
Becky's P.O.V
Randy jerked away from me, his eyes dark, "Shut up. This is your fault."
I scowled, "No, this is your fault for being an idiot in the first place and then getting drunk. Don't blame me for your fucking mistakes."
Randy slammed his hand on the table, "Oh, yeah, great, that makes me feel better, you stupid bitch."
"Hey, don't talk to her like that." Cody said, suddenly defensive.
Randy's eyes flashed dangerously and got up but I just laughed irritably.
"Oh yeah, typical Randy. When people don't do what you want you turn to violence because that's all you can do. For fuck sake Randy, where do you get off intimidating everyone just because they speak the truth or put you in your place or stand up to you?" I snarled.
Randy turned towards me and for one moment, I really thought that he was going to hit me. Cody and Ted must've thought so too because they immediately took a step closer to me and Cody gently took my hand. I just stood my ground and glared back.
However, Mandy quickly grabbed his arm, "Randy, don't. Please. You're just worried."
Randy looked at her before he took a deep breath and turned away from us. He walked over to the window and looked out, breathing heavily. Mandy stood next to him and began speaking too quietly for us to hear.
The three of us watched them for a moment before Cody said in a strained voice, "Come on, Ted, let's go and get some coffee for your hangover."
The three of us went to the café but it was too noisy in there for Ted, so we got some coffee and went back to Cody and mine's room. He sat down and began rubbing his head.
I checked my phone for any messages but nothing. I tried calling Mickie, just in case, but I just got the familiar message that told me it was turned off.
The three of us sat in silence for a while, lost in our own thoughts.
"It's funny."
I looked at Cody, wondering what the hell he was going on about. He was sitting on a chair next to Ted, and he was looking straight at me. I didn't like the expression on his face.
"This is?" I asked carefully, knowing that he wasn't talking about this situation.
Ted didn't say anything; he just continued looking at his coffee.
"Randy said…" Cody jerked his head slightly before looking at me again, "Back there… he said… he said 'you knew'."
I immediately looked down at my own coffee.
"Yeah, he did." I said slowly.
Cody shook his head a couple of times, a bemused smile on his face. Ted was looking at me too but his face was expressionless.
"That's funny… you… you didn't think that you might've wanted to tell me that?" His voice sounded too airy, too light.
"I promised-"
"You knew," Cody's voice was sharper, "and yet you let me worry about them getting closer – and with, apparently, good reason. You told me not to worry, you told me that it was years ago, you told me just to forget about it when all this time you knew that she was the girl who Randy cheated on Mickie with."
"I promised!" I said defiantly, "I only found out when Mandy came back. We were talking and she accidentally told me… then Randy found out and made me promise not to say anything!"
"So?"
"What do you mean 'so'?" I exclaimed, "He's my brother and she's technically my sister! Am I just supposed to break a promise?"
"I thought Mickie was supposed to be a friend! A close friend! Hey, I can even understand why you didn't tell her but why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I was pretty sure that you would tell Mickie!"
"So, you don't trust me?"
"Oh, don't be stupid. Besides, Randy made me promise not to tell anyone."
"So, what, you're keeping secrets in our relationship now? What else are you hiding?"
I scoffed, "Oh yeah, right, I should've remembered that you would have been okay with breaking promises." I saw Cody's confused look, so clarified it for him, "Last time that I checked, when you're in a relationship, you're sort of making a promise not to cheat on them or have affairs."
I regretted it as soon as it left my mouth.
Cody's jaw tightened and I noticed that Ted was watching us almost anxiously, "Well, it worked out pretty nicely for you, didn't it?"
I closed my eyes, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that… it's just…"
"Just what?" He snapped.
"Oh shut up. Both of you."
We both looked at Ted in surprise, "What?"
Ted sighed again. He suddenly looked very worn and very old, "Becky, you shouldn't have kept it a secret but," he looked at Cody, "you're not close with your brother or sister but Becky is. She sees Randy every day and Mandy was a big part of her childhood, so, yeah, she should have kept her promise."
We both stared at him. I had never heard Ted speak so… normally. It was actually quite unnerving.
"Oh god," I started thinking out loud, "we need to find Mickie if her disappearance has turned you wise."
Cody grinned, "Yeah, I don't think I like this Ted."
Ted shrugged and gave us the ghost of a smile, "Well, don't get used to it. Once we find Mickie…" his voice trailed off.
I swallowed. Mickie was all that was important right now.
Mickie's P.O.V
"Thanks for letting me stay here last night" I said to Melina gratefully, I couldn't stay there, knowing that it was Mandy he kissed all along. The only comfort I had with her being with Randy is that it happened years ago, but the fact that they kissed recently…I can't loose him.
"It's fine, you can stay here as long as you like" She replied smiling. "Felt like old times"
"Yeah it did, didn't it?" I chuckled softly, but I turned my head away when I felt that strong need to cry. "I don't know what I'm going to do" I told her. "I love him, I've already been without him and I don't want to go back there"
"If you feel that way, then you should go talk to him"
"I want to, but I don't think I can" I wiped my eyes. "I know I have to"
"Do you want me to call anyone for you?" Melina asked me, I nodded.
"Ted"
No one's P.O.V
"Right, I'm off" Ted called out, opening the door.
Randy got up quickly and shut the door Ted had just opened. "Where?" He barked. "Where?"
"No where, walk" He gulped in response.
"Your going to go see her? Aren't you?"
"No! I'm not"
Randy grabbed Ted by the throat and held him up against the door. "Your going to tell me where she is"
"I don't know! I'm just going out for an innocent coffee" Ted chocked against Randy's grip.
"Randy, c'mon, let him go" Becky tried shoving him off Ted, but Randy wouldn't move. "He said he doesn't know, Randy for god sake"
"I'm not going to ask again" Randy warned dangerously, putting more pressure onto Ted's throat.
"I….don't…know" Ted told him between gasps. "I can't….I can't…breathe….need to breathe…Ted likes his air….I don't know where…..she….is"
"I think you do" A nasty sneer came upon Randy's face, he applied even more pressure. "And your going to tell me"
Mickie's P.O.V
We heard a knock at the door. "It must be Ted" I told her, she nodded and got up to go get it. I shifted myself, before I heard the door slam open.
"Where is she?" I heard Randy yell, I jumped up. Oh shit.
"She doesn't want to see you!" I heard Melina scream after him. I froze on the spot when I came face to face with him.
"I'm sorry Mickie" Ted appeared at the door way. "He gave me no choice" I saw a red mark on his neck; I know Randy was the one responsible for it. Ted moved his gaze to Melina standing there, he just looked so hurt.
"Mickie" Randy whispered pulling me towards him; I pushed his chest so that I was out of his grasp. "Please, Mickie just let me explain"
"C'mon man" Ted tried to pull him; back Randy shoved Ted off him.
"I'm not leaving, not without her" He hissed at Ted before turning his full attention back to me.
"It's ok Ted, Melina" I nodded at the two of them, they hesitated, but both left the room.
"I've been going out of my mind, you shouldn't of just left like that" Randy half yelled at me. "You have no fucking idea what you put me through last night…"
"Oh poor you, my heart bleeds for you, it really does" I yelled at him sarcastically. "At least you didn't have to hear that I had been going around kissing my ex's"
"It wasn't what it sounded like" He told me calmly.
"Did you not kiss her?" He didn't reply. "Then it's exactly what it sounded like, I don't even know what your doing here, I mean, Mandy's not here"
"I don't want Mandy, babe, I want you, I've always wanted you" He tried to pull me towards him; I struggled to get out of his grasp. "Babe, please, stay still, I don't want to hurt you or the baby"
"Then let me go"
"I can't do that"
"Why not?"
"Because I love you"
"Why didn't you have that attitude when you were kissing her?" My voice became more of a whisper.
"Come back with me"
"I can't"
"Why?"
"Because she is there" I told him. "I can't be there when she is, knowing that you…" I stopped feeling as though I was going to be sick.
"C'mon Mickie, she's my best friend, just my best friend, how can I tell her to leave?"
"I don't know, but I can't go back until she has" I pushed his arms away from me and this time he didn't force me to stay.
"Mickie, you can't do this" His voice begging. "We can sort something…"
"Randy" I snapped him out of it. "Have you notice how many fights we have had lately?" I asked him, he nodded. "What's changed? Think about it, we only started having them when she came onto the scene"
"It's you being paranoid that has caused them" He snapped, but he looked to have soon regretted it. "Mickie…"
"No your right" I cut him off. "I am paranoid and that's not going to change, not with her staying their, not her and me becoming close friends, it's always going to be there Randy and I can't take much more of it" I sat down burying my face to into my hands. "It's not my home when she's there"
"So what? If I don't do this, we're over?"
"I don't know" I told him truthfully. I didn't want it to be over, of course I fucking didn't, I didn't want to raise this baby alone, I didn't want to be without him, I loved my life with him, but how would it work with her being there. "I don't want it to be over Randy" I cried to him. "But I know I will always feel this way with her around"
"Even if she isn't living with us, she's going to be around, what do you expect me to do?" He sat down next to me, trying to pull my hands away from my face.
"It's you I love, what happened with Mandy, it's all in the past, it's-"
"But it's not Randy, it's not" I sobbed. "You kissed, when everything went wrong with us, you went to her"
"I was drunk Mickie and the whole time, I thought she was you, ask her Mickie, I came to my senses and as soon as I knew I stopped and came straight back to you" He put his arm around my waist. "You need to trust me; you know I wouldn't do anything…" He brought his hand up to my face, as if to brush the hair out of my eyes, but I shifted away from his touch. "Mickie please, stop pulling away from me" I turned away, I didn't know what to do, I couldn't cope with him not being there in my life, but how can I live feeling like this? I feel as though I can't trust him, relationships need to be on trust for god sake. "I'm not ruining what we have over something that was nothing….Mickie" He snapped when I didn't reply, he walked over to me and pulled back in towards him, but I just pushed him away again.
"Just go! Go be with Mandy, that's what you really want"
"I know what I want!" Randy snapped at me, but then his expression changed. "And I'm holding her in my arms" He starred at me for a few more seconds before releasing me and walked over the door and I just watched him go. I fell to my bed and just did the same thing I was doing last night, crying.
No one's P.O.V
"How long has he been like that?" Becky whispered to Ted, Ted looked over at Randy and shrugged.
"Since he came back from seeing Mickie I think" He replied. "He won't speak to any of us"
"Ah crap, it's really heavy out there" Cody said as he walked back through the door, dripping with rain. "Did you hear the thunder?"
"Thunder?" Randy spoke up for the first time. "Thunder?"
"Err yes, didn't you hear it?"
"Mickie's afraid of thunder…oh shit" Randy jumped up and ran towards the door.
Mickie's P.O.V
It's just a little thunder…nothing scary about that not so…BOOM…I hid my head further under the covers. Curse my fear! I then heard a different sound to the thunder; someone was banging on the door. "MICKIE!" I heard Randy's voice yell. "It's me! Let me in" He continued to bang on the door; I ran and wrapped my arms around his waist, burying my head in his chest, trying to block out the sound of the thunder. "It's ok, I'm here now" He shrugged on his jacket and lead me to my bedroom, he laid me down and lay next to me where I just curled up next to him. "It's ok babe, I've got you" BOOOM, I shrieked with fear, gripping onto Randy more tightly. "It's ok, I'm not gonna let anything hurt you"
Preview of next chapter:
"She may off implied that I should….back off" Mandy sighed as she told him.
"Back off?" Randy repeated what she said, Mandy nodded. "Are you sure that's what she meant, because Mickie can…"
"Randy" Mandy cut him off. "She actually said the words, back off"
"I can't believe her" Randy said frustrated.
