A/N: Hello everyone, sorry for not writing as much as I used to for this fanfic. I was busy with school work, personal things, and writing other fanfics. I hope this chapter can cheer you up a bit and I'm still plan to continue writing this fanfic until it finishes. So welcome back and I hope you read it this chapter.


Chapter 9: The Awakening

Dipper walks up upstairs to see the mysterious book he was observing. It was strange for Mabel act so terrify than ever before the last time they visit Gravity Falls. Sure there was rare occasions when the two were seriously in danger, yet it seems like there was something in the woods that could stab fear into the cheerful and energetic Mabel. The teenage boy enters the attic to see the room door was open, and Grunkle Stan was removing the floor boards. Dipper pauses to see how his great uncle was searching for something in a panic.

"What are you doing Grunkle Stan?" Dipper asked in a serious many that caused the elderly man to look at his nephew.

The old man froze and tries to look away. He felt like Dipper caught him looking for the book that he kept secret. It was hurtful to be caught by the ones you know and love.

"Hey kiddo... um... this is not what it looks like. I'm just trying to find... something..." Grunkle Stan spoke off frequency and did terrible to lie.

"Are you looking for what you call it, the Book of the Dead?" Dipper announced as the grown up widen his eyes in shock.

"So you know? When did you find it?"

"It was just happened when I was setting my stuff here. The floor board was loose and I was curious."

The two family members look at each other for a while like a staring contest. Dipper then pointed at his bed which Grunkle Stan look to see the tape recorder and the book on the blankets. Grunkle Stan's face softens as his body collapse on the floor and weep. The one half of the Mystery Twin look confused as he walk slowly in the room. His uncle was crying with tears streaming down on his cheek, but Dipper decides to hug him to try comforting Stan. The elder look at the young teenager with tears and a smile on his face.

"You know, I have always liked you as the detective kind of guy. You remind me of my brother," said Grunkle Stan as he wipes the tears from his eyes with his hand. "At the same time, I feel glad someone was able to find out about this. I forgot when it happened, but it's been hunting me for so long. Now there's someone who has my back."

Dipper felt happy to see Grunkle Stan now relief from the torment he's been hiding and wasn't able to share. He never thought the man who was tough could break down from his own home. The time protecting him and those who visit has consumed him away from Earth, but it looks like he's able to be at eased.

"Hey Dipper, I have a question to ask you?"

"Sure Grunkle Stan," replied Dipper.

"You didn't say or hear the words that were in the tape?" asked Grunkle Stan who seems to be concern.

"Well Grunkle Stan, I was listening to some of the tape recording, and there was one that was off..."

Dipper didn't finish as Grunkle Stan got up and look at the book. Stan looks worry once again as he look through the book. He flips too many pages before he stopped at one page. He looks at it closely before he drops it to the floor. The young teenage boy grabbed the book from the floor and saw a page of a person who's been scratched and wrapped by tree branches and twigs. In that moment, Dipper realizes what Grunkle Stan was afraid of. Mabel was a victim of the evil that the book has shown.

"We need to warn the others about Mabel!" said Grunkle Stan as he ran out of the room with Dipper quickly following him.


"What card is in my hand now?" asked Wendy who hide the card behind her hand to Mabel as Soos watch besides Wendy.

The young teenage girl closes her eyes to presume thinking the card. It only last for a short time before the girl finally answers.

"It's queen of spades," said Mabel in a quiet tone as Wendy and Soos was once again surprised to see how Mabel is correct once again.

"Oh my God Mabel, you actually got that one right again! You must be a physic bro," said Soos as Mabel weakly smiles at the complement.

Just then Grunkle Stan and Dipper enter the living room to see Wendy, Soos, and Mabel playing cards.

"Hey Stan, you should see Mabel guessing these cards correctly. She could be a physic," said Wendy as Soos got the deck of card and was about to pull one card out when...

"Jack of diamonds," Mabel responds quietly as she looks down to the floor.

Soos pull the card to reveal it was in deed jack of diamonds.

"6 of clovers, 6 of hearts, 6 of spades," Mabel spoke as Soos go through the cards.

The cards were in fact those of what Mabel has said before. Grunkle Stan shook his head in this disbelief as Dipper felt fear tingling inside of him.

"Jack of hearts! Queen of clovers! King of diamonds!" Mabel shouted the words before she look up.

Everyone was terrified to see Mabel with green skin, purple circles around her eyes, and her eyes were nothing but white. Soos and Wendy back away to Grunkle Stan and Dipper as the lights flick with Mabel shrieking inhumanly. Thunders erupt from outside and the whole Mystery Shack was shaking like an earthquake was happening. Lastly, Mabel begins to levitate up in the air. They all look shock to see Mabel in this possession.

"You'll all die! You will be drag to hell by being here in this house!" shouted the possessed Mabel with rage. "Why have you disturbed our sleep; awakened us from our ancient slumber? You will die! Like the others before you, one by one, we will take you!"

The possessed girl then drop to the floor as everything stops. The Mystery Shack stopped shacking, thunder storms have disappear, and Mabel seem to now sleep. Everyone look at each other worry to witness just a paranormal event. Dipper begins to walk forward as the three older individuals watch. The young teenage boy approaches his twin sister who seems to be unconscious. Her back was only facing him, but he walks close to her and crouch down. Wendy then walks to Dipper to see if Mabel was doing alright. They could have seen Mabel's face if they look at her as her white blank eyes opens and a wick grin spread to her face.
