Chapter 31: Outback Stakeout
As the heroes found themselves in the continent and country of Australia, they could see themselves overlooking an large building that was in the middle of a body of water, a cold wind blew over them though making the six shiver.
"Why is it so cold all of a sudden?" inquired Link.
"We're on the Southern Hemisphere of our world, while it's warm in the Northern Hemisphere, tempuratures are much colder in the south. When it warms up here, it'll be colder in the north," explained Chun-Li.
"That is quite interesting," replied Zelda.
"It's the way the planet is tilted while it orbits the sun, right now, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the sun so it's getting more sunlight," added Ken.
"However, right now, we don't have time for a science lesson, we need to find some clues as to where we can find this tower, because I'm pretty sure the Sydney Opera House isn't what we're searching for," chimed in Alex.
"Agreed, the best thing for us to do would be ask the townspeople for clues," stated Link.
Wasting no time, the six heroes began to walk down the roads of Sydney talking to as many people as they could to see if any of them knew anything that could help them reach their next destination. As they walked down the street, they happened to find a pumpkin shaped building and at Link raised his hand to inform the others to stop.
"Hey guys, I know these people, let's check in here and see if they know anything," suggested Link.
"Hmm, the Lumpy Pumpkin, interesting name for an establishment," commented Alex.
"I'll say one thing though, they have some of the best pumpkin soup that you'll ever taste," chimed in Zelda.
"You've got my attention, I'm starting to get hungry, it smells good too," replied Ryu as he sniffed the air as the smell of pumpkin wafted from the building in front of the heroes.
Upon entering the building Link and the others were greeted by a woman who looked to be in her late teens with brown hair that was done to look like a pumpkin and was wearing a blue dress with a white apron over it.
"Link! Zelda! Good to see you guys! And you brought friends too!" said the young woman with a cheerful tone as she smiled brightly at the group.
"How have things been here Kina? Are you and your father finding good business here?" asked Link.
"Yeah, we happen to be lucky that it's cold in this area right now, so people obviously do get a craving for some hot soup in circumstances like this," answered Kina.
"So what about your friends, are they ready to try some of my world famous pumpkin soup...er, that is world famous in the world we come from," said a man who was bald on top but had orange hair on the sides of his head also made to resemble a pumpkin, he also sported a mustache and goatee and was wearing a green tunic top and pants along with a white apron.
"Of course Pumm, bring us six bowls of your best pumpkin soup," said Zelda.
"Coming right up!" exclaimed Pumm as he went into the kitchen to prepare some pumpkin soup for the heroes.
"So Kina, has anything strange occurred out here for you guys since the fusion?" asked Link.
"To be honest, not really, sure we get some unruly people in here from time to time, but nothing that our bouncer can't handle," answered Kina.
"You guys have a bouncer now?" asked Zelda.
"Yeah, I'll call him over, hey Cody, I have some friends who'd like to meet you!" called Kina.
At that moment, a blonde haired man around six feet tall walked over to the others, he was wearing a blue and white striped prison uniform as well as white sneakers and his hands were cuffed, but Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Alex knew those cuffs were just for show.
"Cody! You're working as a bouncer here, did you bust out of jail again?" asked Chun-Li.
"No, I didn't, I found myself here during after the fusion and decided to take on this job to earn a little cash and plus it alleviates my boredom a little bit getting to beat the crap out of people that may cause trouble here," answered Cody
"Although I'm sure you enjoy the pumpkin soup here, it sure smells lovely," remarked Ken.
"I will admit yes, the soup here is good. Now if only I could get some Metro City street meat to go along with it, it would be an amazing meal," responded Cody.
"Here's your soup guys, eat while it's hot, pumpkin soup is best enjoyed while it's piping hot!" said Pumm as he brought out six bowls of pumpkin soup to Link and company and gave them the utensils to eat it.
"Itadakimasu!" exclaimed Ryu as he dug into his soup.
"So Cody, you know of anything that's been going on around here?" inquired Alex.
"I ran across Guy and Maki a while ago, they said they wanted to go an investigate this tower that had appeared not too far from here, I think if anything, last I saw them was around the Bondi Beach. I hope they don't plan to go surfing in this cold weather," remarked Cody.
"Hmm, I think we'll investigate that next then," stated Link.
"First off though, it is cold, I suggest we get some warmer clothes so we don't get frostbite or hypothermia, besides, it would be good to have anyways in case our adventure takes us anywhere cold," chimed in Ken.
"I like your thinking Ken, we'll do that then head off to the Bondi Beach to see what's going on down there," said Chun-Li.
"Boy you guys were right! This soup is delicious!" exclaimed Ryu.
"It's better with Ordon goat cheese, next time, you'll have to try it with that," replied Link.
After eating their bowls of soup, Link paid Pumm the Rupees needed for the meal and thanked him promptly.
"Take care out there guys, and come back anytime! Oh yeah, and Link is right, next time try it with the goat cheese!" exclaimed Pumm.
"See you guys around, if you see Guy and Maki, let them know I said what's up!" added Cody.
As the heroes left the Lumpy Pumpkin they began to walk the streets and headed off down the streets to find a store where they could purchase clothing to shield them from the cold weather. After a few minutes of walking down the streets, they eventually did find a clothing store that sold cold weather gear and so the six promptly headed in.
"I wonder if they accept Rupees here," said Link.
"Even if they don't, don't worry I'll pay for it, remember, I'm one of the richest guys in the world," responded Ken.
"Welcome, what can I do for you?" said the shopkeeper.
"We just got into town not long ago, not realizing it would be cold in this part of the world, so we need some warm clothes," answered Zelda.
"Understandable, come with me, I believe I have things for you in all your sizes," answered the shopkeeper.
"Hold on a sec, are they playing the same song that plays in all the Hylian shops in here now?" inquired Chun-Li.
"Hey, that song is catchy, so I had to get for this shop," answered the shopkeeper.
"I'm not complaining though, let's just get what we need so we can take care of business," responded Chun-Li.
"I agree, and even though it's on Ken's tab, let's not go hog wild here," added Alex.
After trying on a few sets to make sure what they bought was warm enough and fit them comfortably, the six made their selections and as Ken paid for them, they all put on the clothes and walked out the door. As they walked out and headed towards the Bondi Beach, Ryu began to hum the shop theme as they trekked down the streets.
"Dude, really, you're humming that now?" asked Ken.
"What, the shopkeeper was right, it is a catchy song," responded Ryu.
"Eh, it could be worse I suppose, at least it's not some lame ass pop song," commented Ken.
"Good point, if he sang one of those, I'd punch him in the jaw," chimed in Alex.
Soon, the heroes found themselves face to face with a beach, there weren't many people there due to the weather not being fit for beach going, however, there were a couple people milling about on the sandy terrain.
"This is the place, time to play detective," remarked Ken.
"Or in my case, time to play work," added Chun-Li.
The six walked onto the terrain of the beach and as they headed to some of the people on the beach, they saw a couple of faces familiar to them. One was a Japanese male with short black hair with bangs extending down to his eye. He wore a red ninja style shirt with red pants and red sneakers. The other was a blonde haired woman with her hair done in a large ponytail, she was wearing a red ninja uniform and red sneakers as well and carrying with her a tonfa.
"Hey Guy! Maki! Long time no see, how have you been?" called out Ryu causing the two to turn around.
"Ryu, I see you're travelling with company this time, is there a specific reason you're here?" inquired Maki.
"Well, we ran across Cody at the Lumpy Pumpkin, he sends his regards by the way. He told us you two were down investigating some mysterious tower," answered Ken.
"Ah, Cody is right, although we weren't able to find anything out about the tower. But we think evil forces might be targeting something in there," commented Guy in his usual stoic tone.
"No doubt a Secret Text that Ganondorf and Urien would want to get their hands on, we'll have to make for that tower as soon as possible," chimed in Link.
"A friend of Ryu and the others I assume, who might you be?" asked Maki.
"My name is Link, and with me is Zelda, the princess of the land of Hyrule," answered Link.
"And from the looks of it, you're a hero of that world, perhaps you might be able to find out something about that tower," stated Guy.
"We intend to do so immediately," piped up Zelda.
"Now we just to find a way out there, because obviously we can't swim all the way over there," stated Alex.
"Yeah, it is quite a ways away, unless you're a fish, or one of those Zora people from that other world, swimming there would not be wise," said Maki.
"We do have the Zora Armor, but that is true, if we expend too much energy swimming there, any dangers in that tower could easily take us out," replied Link.
"Well then, it's a good thing Pumm asked me to follow you guys," spoke Cody's voice from behind the others and they all turned around to face him.
"Cody, you know of a way that Link and the others can get out there to that tower?" asked Guy.
"Maybe I do, Pumm told me that a friend of his named Eddo had made residence on a harbor not to far from here, maybe we can convince him to lend you one of his ships to get out there," replied Cody.
"How far is this harbor from here?" asked Chun-Li.
"I'll show you the way, we shouldn't have to walk too far," stated Cody.
"I think we better hurry though, look!" exclaimed Link as he pointed out to the beach.
As the heroes all looked out at the beach, they saw numerous monsters heading off towards where the harbor Eddo lived at was. Some Kargarocs, Moblins, Bokoblins, Geozards, and a frog like monsters called Spumes were amongst the monsters in the group.
"Yeah, let's not sit around chit chatting anymore, we better make tracks," said Alex.
"Well now, at least this trip won't be boring, I look forward to kicking some ass," remarked Cody as he led the others to the harbor to speak with Eddo as well as keep the old seadog safe from Ganondorf and Urien's minions that would look to sink his ship.
Author's Note: Yeah I know, just been busy with a lot of different things going on in life. But even so, I figured I should take some time to make an update. I'm not too upset though, in fact I look forward to any new adventures that await me in life. At any rate, after seeing the box art for Wind Waker HD, I hope I can all my stuff squared away and get me a Wii U for this game. As far as some of the changes they made from the Gamecube version, I'll hold my judgment on them until I actually play the game. I'm also looking forward to the new Zelda for the 3DS A Link Between Worlds, after all, A Link to the Past was one of my favorite games so seeing it get a sequel of sorts is pretty exciting. Anyways, I'm off to go plan out the next chapter, but until then, please read and review.
