Chapter 16: Reflection
Both Dipper and Grunkle Stan slowly walk up stairs with each step they take creaking from their feet. They held their axes in defense, prepare for the danger they were going to face against a possessed Mabel. They have killed two of their friends, and Mabel is not going to end up like that. They both stop to see the empty space of the second floor. It was still dark and the two can feel shivers crawling under their skin. They both look at each other and then move forward to approach the entrance of the attic.
"Join us... Join us..." spoke a distant deep voice, coming from the attic.
Dipper opens his vest to see the book of the dead still with him. He has it to try helping Mabel. He doesn't want to end his twin sister's life and he doesn't want anyone to encounter this horrific experience like he and Stan has. If the book has information to prevent Mabel from being likes everyone else to be victims of the axes. Stan step forward from the door in front of them and push it quickly. The door opens and they see Mabel sitting on the floor with her hair down.
"Join us... Join us..." Mabel whispers.
Dipper and Stan enter the room where it was only the three by themselves. Grunkle Stand closes the door and grips his ax. Dipper pulls out the book and flips the pages to see what solutions was there to use for this type of situation. He notices a page where it shows a drawing of a woman who's was possessed converting back to normal. Dipper sees the text and begins to red what was written down.
The one who was possessed first has the ability to gain his or her soul only way to do it is to either kill three possessed individuals or sacrifice someone else to be possessed with the same evil spirit. It could only works if someone's life is at risk.
Dipper glances at Stan, who looks at him with a concern look. They both turn to see Mabel grinning and staring at them.
"If you want her back, I just need your souls!" possessed Mabel spoke as she begin to chuckle.
Dipper and Stan back away from Mabel, but she quickly got up and raises her arms before bringing them down. Flames emerge to prevent them from escaping from the door. She then charge at them with anger in her eyes. Grunkle Stan was ready to swing his ax at the possessed Mabel, but she quickly got it with her hand and kick Stan way, sending him to the walls. She then turns to Dipper and swing the ax at him. Dipper uses his one ax to block the strike, but his ax was knocked out of his hands. Dipper ran pass his twin sister in fear as the possessed sister was smiling with glee. She drags the ax on the floor as she was walking towards her brother with the attic start to catch on fire.
"Any last words, dear brother?" Mabel asked as she brings the ax up.
Dipper use the book to knock the ax off and he tackle his sister down. She was gnarling at him as he uses the book to hold her down.
"I'm sorry Mabel, I love you," said Dipper before he kiss her on the lips.
Mabel was surprise to feel his lips as something was coming out of her mouth and entering Dipper's. Grunkle Stan got up feeling pain on his body, but he saw Dipper getting spirit in him. He pushed the boy off Mabel, and black goo was leak out of Mabel's mouth. Dipper starts to cough ad he place two fingers in his throat to begin vomiting the dark goo out.
The goo spill everywhere on the floor, and it was moving around the floor. Each part of the goo was mashing together and a shape was forming. The shape grew six feet with a large muscular frame. Dipper looks up to see a dark tall figure starting at him with blood red eyes. It roars at the boy and it lifts its hands to reveal sharp nails. As it was going to strike at Dipper, but Grunkle Stan move forward and took the blow. The elder man looks at his chest to see large scratch marks across his chest with blood leaking out. Stan fell to the floor and holds his chest.
"Dipper, grab Mabel and get out of here!" Grunkle Stan shouted. "Do it now!"
Dipper ran to his twin sister and carried her on his shoulders. The boy manages to see an exit from the door barely getting caught with the flames. He left the room in a rush, feeling the panic making him wanting to get out as soon as possible. Grunkle Stan turns to the dark shape in front of him and he charge at it with fire now engulfing the room. He slams it to the floor, where he picks up the ax near him and begins to swing at it. He manages to hurt it as it shrieks in pain. Limbs were flying everywhere. The flames were getting bigger as Stan was still swinging the ax on the shape with a mad expression.
Dipper manages to get out of the shack, and turn around to witness it getting caught on fire. He was saddened to see the fire consuming the one place he knew from Gravity Falls. He slowly brings Mabel down to the floor soft and he sat on the ground exhausted. He looks at his sister and she rose up.
"D-Dipper, what happened?" she asked with a soft voice.
Dipper watches the Mystery Shack burning.
"I don't know. All I know is that Grunkle Stan was suffering with demons and his demons got the best of him," Dipper explained.
Mabel looks at the Mystery Shack and she begins to weep.
"W-What now Dipper?" she asked.
"I don't know, but I do know we need to go home and make sure we don't speak about this again," Dipper replied.
The twins watch in sadness seeing the shack burning and hearing sirens in the distance. The sun starts to rise, bringing light to the world and darkness was gone. Things will turn out normal once again.
