How Taking Down Legacy Failed
Mickie's P.O.V
I leaned against the car window. We were all packed and ready to go. I didn't say goodbye to Becky and Cody, it would have been too difficult, and I might not have been able to go through with it. I would call them when I was home, I just knew I needed to clear my head, I needed to stay away. He made it clear that I can't change his mind. I was still having doubts about leaving in my head, but the idea of going back was worse. Facing him again after what happened in the club, he had broke me; he took every part of me and left me bare. He was slowly destroying me and I needed to get out of before it was too late. I could raise Hayden in a world where I was just focusing all on Randy, hoping that he would remember, it wasn't fair, and I couldn't do that to my son. It didn't feel real, this didn't feel final. I'm going to miss our little group so much, they never failed to make me laugh and they've been there for me. "You know Ted, driving one mile per hour isn't going to change my mind" I said turning my head to face him.
"I don't know what you're talking about" He replied.
Ever since we left the hotel, he had driven so slow, trying to make me think more about what I was doing, it wasn't going to change my mind. "Really?" I said in disbelief.
"Just because I'm not a road rage driver like you women" He answered, with an amused grin on his face.
"I could drive better than this! Let me drive!" I reached out to the wheel.
"I'd like to get there in one piece thanks" He replied, slapping my hand away.
"Well I'd like to get there before I'm 50!" I retorted.
"That's not too far off" I saw him smirk. I shook my head. "I'm going to miss this you know….our bantering"
"We've had some quite good banter" I smiled. "But hey, we can still have them, your not getting rid of my ass that easily"
"Note to self, change number" Ted said, pretending to have a recorder in his hand.
"Such a noob styley" I shook my head and looked back at the window.
"It's going to be quiet without you" Ted said, I saw him looking over in the window's reflection. "Cody will have Becky, won't see much of Randy, who's going to be my best friend?"
"You have Melina" I told him.
"But Ted needs his best friend" He was making this hard. "Who else is going to harass the superstars with me without fearing that it will get us killed?" He asked. "Who is going to go to the Miley Cyrus concert with me?"
"I'll still go with you" I told him. "We will still see each other Ted, just not everyday"
"But we're a little family Mickie" I took a breath, trying not to cry again. "Remember Christmas, New years? It can be like that again"
"Not with Randy like that Ted" I replied, sending him a sad smile.
"If you would just wait a little longer, who knows, maybe-"
"I'm done with waiting Ted, I can't wait anymore, and it's too hard"
He nodded his head reluctantly. "You told Vince yet?"
"No" I replied softly. "Once I sort my head out, I'll give him a call"
Ted's P.O.V
I looked at my watch, she was started to catch on that I was driving slow for a reason. Although she thinks the reason is that I want her to change her mind, I'm really just hoping Randy gets my message in time. I have strong faith that he will be there to take her home, the way he looks at her, he knows he loves her and he is not about to let her get away. Mickie is wrong, there is still Randy in there, and he just needs to be provoked. "I hope you're happy" I spoke up after a few minutes of silence. "You're taking away my partner in crime!"
She gave a little laugh, I didn't mean to make it harder for her but I really didn't want her to go. The thought of living without Mickie just doesn't seem right. I haven't had this much fun the past year in a long time. I loved it at Christmas and New year, we had our own little family, and we didn't need anyone else as long as we had each other.
I reluctantly parked the car, but funny enough I chose the parking space furthest from the airport. "Ted!" Mickie said shaking her head.
"What this is my spot?" I asked her innocently.
"Since when"
"Since forever" I told her in matter of fact. "And here I thought we knew each other pretty well baby!" We walked up to the airport, she got her ticket and every step she took, and things were beginning to get a bit more real.
"That's my flight" She said turning to me.
"Are you sure this is what you really want? We can go back, sleep on it and come back tomorrow, you just need to be sure" I said to her, looking up at the gate she was about to walk through. I looked around, there
was no sign of Randy.
"I'm sure Ted" She replied. "I'm going to miss you so much" Her eyes started to water again. "What is wrong with me today?" She chuckled nervously, wiping her eyes.
"I'm going to miss you too" I told her, trying not to cry myself. Dibiase's don't cry! God, I sound just like Randy. "You're my best and I love you" She put her arms around me and we hugged. Poor little Hayden was squished in the middle. ""Phew" I said as I leaned back, I was such a woman! Even my eyes were getting watery. "I'm going to miss you too little buddy" I poked Hayden's stomach. "You won't forget your uncle Ted"
"This isn't goodbye forever Ted" Mickie said, smiling sadly. "It's just for now"
"It feels like forever" I said. "I'm so use to seeing you everyday, going into the room next door and there you are"
"I know" She said. "I'll feel it too" She put her hand on my cheek. "You hang on to Melina Ted, no more one night stands, you hear?"
"Yes mom" I answered, rolling my eyes playfully. I then stopped and just starred at her. "This doesn't feel real"
"Tell me about it"
"Take care Ted" She tip toed and kissed my cheek.
"Call me when you land baby"
"I will"
"Not too late to change your mind!" I called after her, she laughed before a tear ran down her cheer.
"Make sure Sheamus and Justin don't forget me!"
"How could they!"
"I'll be watching Raw so keep kicking ass"
"As always" I smiled.
I watched her go, with Hayden on her hip and pulling her suitcase from behind. I guess this Randy really didn't care. I knew I would see her again, but it still felt like I wouldn't. To think it all resulted in this, Mickie hurting so much that she had to leave, part of me wanted to rip Randy apart, if he didn't scare me that is. I turned to leave, but I came face to face with the person I was hoping would turn up.
"Where is she?" He was panting slightly. I smiled, I knew he would come. I pointed over to where Mickie was standing, trying to read the flight sign which she never could read!
"MICKIE" He yelled, taking in a deep breath and running towards her. Go get her man!
Mickie's P.O.V
I turned around, thinking it was Ted trying to take another shot at making me stay. But when I turned, it wasn't Ted, it was Randy. "What are you doing here?"
"The better question is, what are you?" He asked, trying to regain his breath. "You were just going to leave?"
"I have nothing left to stay for" I told him, trying not to break out in tears all over again.
"Your friends, your job, does that not mean anything to you?"
"Of course it does" I replied, hurt was evident in my voice. "This wasn't an easy decision to make you know" He rolled his eyes. "Aren't you done trying to humiliate me?"
"Alright, point made, I'm taking you home" He grabbed the suitcase from my hand.
"Who the hell are you to make that decision for me" I snatched it from him. "You're the one who has been telling me to leave you alone, I'm just doing what you want" He closed his eyes and ran his hand over his face. "So don't pretend that you even give a damn" I snapped, I tried to walk past, but he grabbed my wrist, he placed his hand behind Hayden's back so he didn't fall from my hip.
"If I didn't give a damn why am I here?" He snapped back. "You're the one who told me I couldn't run from my problems when you're doing the exact same thing"
"Well it seems to work for you don't it" I bit back. "I really tried with you Randy, I really did"
"You're being stupid" He said through clench teeth. "Let's just go back to the hotel" I tried to move my suitcase to go, but he stopped me. "Don't go" He starred intensely into my eyes.
"Why?" I shook my head.
"Because you don't want to"
"No Randy, no" I pulled away, he pulled me back into him.
"Because I don't want you to" He leaned his forehead against mine.
"It's not enough" I pulled away again, I could see in his eyes the hurt, but there was nothing different about what he was saying now, to what he said awhile ago about him not using me.
"What can I do Mickie?" His voice was pleading with me. I thought it was hard saying goodbye to Ted, it was double saying goodbye to Randy.
"You can tell me you love me" I told him, he opened his mouth. "Or you can let me go" He shut his mouth, I held Hayden close to me, my heart was pounding out of my chest, I wanted to hear the words so badly come out of his mouth, I breathed out, I felt that tight feeling again, I quickly wiped my eyes. He starred at me and then at the boarding gate behind me. He gritted his teeth together and put his hands on his hips.
"You're free to go" He stepped back. Just then, I felt the same feeling that I felt when we first realised his memory had gone, when he said the words 'Is she doing Dibiase or something?'
"Thank you" I said coldly as I turned to walk away.
Ted's P.O.V
This wasn't going to plan, he was retreating, and she was still set on getting on the plane. "What the hell are you doing man?" I shoved him. "Why did you do that?"
His head shot up at me. "Because I love her" He said through clench teeth. "And I can't give her the Randy she wants"
"Fight for her Randy, she fought for you" I spat at him.
He starred at me and then back at Mickie's figure walking away. "MICKIE" He yelled, he started to run towards her again.
"WATCH OUT!" I heard someone yell, I looked to where Randy was, he had frozen up just as a loose cart was rammed into him. He fell back hitting his head on the hard floor "Oh my god" I heard the person yell as they slipped down beside Randy. "Sir, can you hear me?"
I looked over to where Mickie was, she saw the whole thing. "Randy" I heard her breaking voice yell. "RANDY!" She screamed when he didn't get up. She held onto Hayden tight and ran down, sliding on the floor beside him. "Randy, Randy, wake up" The same tears I had seen early, I saw now. I ran over and took Hayden from her arms. "Come on Randy" She lifted his head up and placed it on her lap.
"SOMEONE GET SOME HELP" I yelled out, a few security men came running towards us.
"What happened?" They asked, kneeling down beside Randy.
"My kids were messing around and we lost control of our cart, it didn't hit him too hard but he fell and hit his head on the floor" The woman explained.
Mickie was still starring down at Randy, concern filled her eyes. "Sir, can you hear us? Sir?" My heart nearly stopped when his eyes opened slowly.
"Ah my head" He tried to sit up. He lost balance and fell into Mickie's arms. "Hey babe" He said softly. "What's wrong babe? Why are you crying?" He moved he hand up and wiped her tears with the back of his thumb just like he would use to…. Wait a minute, babe? Babe? FUCKING BABE? He hasn't called her babe since….had he gotten his memory back? Mickie stared at him, frozen to the spot. Randy turned to me, he lifted his arms out and took Hayden from my grasp. "Hey champ, my god you've gotten big, why have you gotten so big?" Randy asked, doing a once over on Hayden. "Babe?" He turned back to Mickie. "Why won't you talk to me?" Someone brought Mickie's suitcase up behind her, Randy looked at it. "Are you going somewhere? Where are you going?" Mickie had looked like she had seen a ghost. "Babe?" His voice didn't sound too good, he held Hayden up, I took him away, when I looked back Randy's eyes were closing and he fell back onto Mickie's lap.
"Someone call an ambulance please!" The security guard yelled out, trying to stay calm.
"Randy?" Mickie's voice croaked. "No" She shook her head. "DON'T YOU LEAVE ME" She screamed as the security guard tried to lift her away. "DON'T YOU LEAVE ME!"
"Mam, I need you to calm down"
"RANDY" She screamed trying to get close to him. "That's my fucking boyfriend" She spat at him, trying to escape his grasp.
"We going to get him some help mam, just stay calm"
"Don't tell me to stay calm! I can't be away from him" She sobbed. "Not again" I walked round and pulled her close to me. "He came back to me Ted, he came back!" They lifted Randy's head up and put a pillow underneath so he would be laying it on a hard surface.
"You're going to be ok mate" The security guard spoke to him. "Just sit still and the ambulance should be here"
I pray that he was right.
Has Randy got his memory back?
