A/N:

The last chapter! At last huh? I'm so sorry it took so damn long. I really am.

Apparently it was true what they said, unless you knew where the Smurf village was, you couldn't find it. Either that or Gargamel was just too much of an idiot to follow us. To be honest I wasn't complaining. Unlike Zim of course. He was still complaining about the attack that cat gave him earlier. I don't see why he's so annoyed, I'm the one with a graze down my cheek! Okay sure it was just that, a graze, but my point being all he did was get a bit dusty from the moss he rolled around in. But hey, that cat was the devil so I could let him have this one.

Dib was kneeling down by Papa's mushroom again, a serious of questions rolling from him that even Brainy was having trouble getting the answers to him fast enough. I smiled in bemusement. Every moment that passed was another moment we were closer to going home. And this time we wouldn't be travelling with the Smurfs. I know that this was their home and back there was ours but, I'd kind of grown attached to the little guys. I know it had only been a few days but they were just fun to have around. And… I'll miss them. I wanted to go home and I wanted them to be safe but I'm just saying I would have liked to spend a bit more time with them.

"What is the Amy-worm moping about this time?" Zim huffed, rolling his eyes.

"I'm not moping. I'm just thinking."

His eyes widened, "GIR, prepare the defences!"

"Oh very funny…"

"Zim does not joke."

"No, Zim is a joke." Dib added with a smirk which was half 'I'm making fun of him' and half 'I'm just kidding because I can think of better insults'. He tilted his head at me, "What're you thinking about?"

"It's nothing." I smiled, "Just… don't want to say goodbye to them yet. I mean, it's going to be weird not having little people running around causing trouble."

"Well, you're little sister is coming back soon, that counts right?" Dib offered playfully.

I chuckled, "You know what I mean. I guess I just didn't expect to say goodbye so soon."

"Well, Zim never expected to say goodbye in the first place because Zim never expected to be dragged into this madness!" the alien snapped. He looked downward and flinched his hand away when Harmony walked past, "When will this infernal portal be usable?"

"Jeez, Space-boy, it's nearly done." Dib answered, "He's just adding a few herbs and stuff."

"Was." An elderly voice corrected, "Now, I have finished."

Papa exited his mushroom and beckoned us to follow him as he headed to the village boarder again. For the last time I figured. We followed, side stepping and tip toeing around the mushrooms and Smurfs as we went. On the grass up ahead, GIR was rolling around with some of the kids along with some select others in a play wrestle. It still confused me how a robot could be ticklish but it was cute so I didn't openly question it.

Once we were alongside them, Papa opened the vial in his hands, muttering something under his breath as the night coloured smoke swirled forward, weaving among the grass. It coiled and slithered until it looked like a whirlpool of dense mist. In fact it kind of looked like the portal from earlier, just without the sparks of electric and explosions. Then again the explosions seemed to be a trademark that both Zim and Dib seemed to carry close to them. The fumes of the magic, wow I was still trying to get used to the idea of magic, made us a little light headed. Dib shook himself and leaned in to get a better look.

"So… what exactly does this do?"

Papa lowered his arms in signal that the spell was complete, "This will send you home smurf and sound. All you need to do is step inside."

I nodded in understanding, "So soon?"

He too looked a little unhappy with the swiftness of it, he looked up at us all sincerely, "Unfortunately it has to be, before anything else happens… You have no idea how grateful I am for all the help you've given us. Thank you."

"Yes, yes, Zim is truly amazing now-agh!"

I watched wide eyed in shock as Zim tumbled forward, falling into the mist and vanishing from sight as if he fell right into the ground underneath. Just like that, he was gone, "Dib!"

Dib shrugged passively, "What? He wanted to be the first to go home."

GIR cackled thinking it a new game. He hugged his playmates one last time before diving head first after Zim, "I coming Masta! Wheee!"

Okay… What was the point in arguing with that? And I'll admit, that little shriek the alien made was pretty funny. I shook my head with a laugh, "You're unbelievable…" Some of the other Smurfs chuckled amongst themselves at our feet, and I couldn't help but ask, "Will we see you guys again?"

There was a pause that no one seemed eager to fill. Finally, as always, Papa took the responsibility, "It is difficult to say."

No, basically. I gently lowered to my knees and held out my pinkie finger as a make-shift handshake, "I'm going to miss you guys."

Papa took the gesture, and turned to do the same when Dib followed suit. It near broke my heart having some of the other Smurfs like Clumsy, Smurfette and even little Baby coming up to me to say their goodbyes. Some I ended up scooping in my hands gently to give the nearest thing to a hug I could. Damn it don't cry or you'll flood the village! Dib seemed to be handling things a lot better. Giving simple 'hand' shakes and offering his goodbyes. Admittedly, he did linger a little longer when it came to Handy and Brainy.

This was all so bizarre. We'd said goodbye to others in the past, like Beetlejuice and Lydia, but this was different. They were only a few hours away. This was… a different time, world, dimension? I had no idea! So, it was strange to say goodbye and have it mean exactly what it was. But it was for the best and we all knew that. If we stayed here much longer, then it was only a matter of time before Gargamel came back, and we had lives to get back to. And they couldn't come back with us, they had their home here and unfortunately Gargamel was part of it. But they knew exactly how to handle him. Really, there wasn't much difference from Dib dealing with Zim and the Smurfs dealing with Gargamel. Only, when it came to Zim, he could occasionally be reasoned with. Rare but true.

"Are you sure you're all going to be all right?" I asked, standing on the edge of the portal.

"Yeah, we Smurfs smurf together! Whoops!" Clumsy assured, tripping and nearly falling into the mist himself before being pulled back by Gutsy.

"Yeh did a good job, laddie," he smirked at Dib, "Keep it up when watching yeh lass, got it?"

"Uh… sure?" Dib replied, a little rosy cheeked trying not to look at me on that one.

"I'm going to miss our conversations." Brainy admitted, adjusting his glasses in Dib's direction, "Your theories were quite smurfy."

"Uh, yeah so were yours, I think… Though I kinda wish I'd gotten more information from you about-whoa!"

Dib was suddenly jolted as the Smurflings started latching onto him, "Don't leave us, Dibby! You're were the best play thing ever!"

I chuckled at the look of unease on his face, but let the kids have their moment before I started gently detaching them, "I'm sure he's going to miss playing with you guys too."

"I hate long goodbyes!" Grouchy stated, folding his arms.

I agreed… "We'll see you again soon, I know we will." I didn't know, but I sure as well hoped.

"I don't doubt it." Papa smiled, "Thank you for all you've done for us."

"Yeah, likewise." Dib nodded.

I didn't want to go. But it was time. I took Dib's hand because even though I knew this would work, the idea of jumping into a dense mist and vanishing was terrifying. We gave one last look to the others, and then… we jumped. It was exactly like you'd imagine it. The mist was warm and soft. Like there was a silk sheet was grazing over our skin. I didn't dare open my eyes my stomach started flipping as we fell. And boy did we fall. Dib's hand tightened on mine and I dared to open my eyes. I gasped. It was like falling through the night sky. Jeez that sounds cliché but that's the best way I can explain it.

Dib grinned at me and I couldn't help but grin back. This was amazing! Although, it didn't last. Soon enough the smoke started to become thin and the sight of solid ground rushed to meet us. My knees buckled as we tumbled forward into the ground. I gasped for air to try and make the world stop spinning.

"Oh, so now the worm babies choose to return!"

I groaned, "Give us a minute Zimmers…"

"He pushed me!"

"Grow up, Space-boy, you're home aren't you? Wait, we are home right?"

We were. In fact we were right outside my house. Wow, that smoke had really good aim! Speaking of which, I looked up in time so see the evening breeze carry it away, disbanding it until it had totally dissolved into the air. That was it. It was over.

"It's going to be weird without them around…" I muttered.

"No, it will be peaceful!" Zim objected.

"You're the one who brought them here in the first place!" Dib pointed out.

"LIES!"

It was like the past few days hadn't happened. So much for things being peaceful. But to be honest, I didn't mind one bit. I'd rather be distracted. I was going to miss the Smurfs, I really was. Okay, I admit it, Dib was right and I was mothering. But I couldn't help it. I liked the idea of helping and caring for someone. It's just the way I am. In a way, it reminded me of the way Papa was so protective over the rest of them. I know I can't exactly make a perfect comparison but, it's the closest thing I can come up with.

And I made it a goal to see them again. A promise even. One I had no idea how to keep I'll admit but, I made it. For now, I would be more than content with how things were with my boys. Dib, Zim and GIR. Let's face it, they were more than enough to keep my occupied. And I wouldn't change it for the world. Even now when I was separating the pair from scrapping on the street. It made life more interesting and it just got better with every new creature we met. In fact, I guess you could call it… smurfy.

Finished! Will there be more stories with Amy and the gang? I honestly don't know. I haven't got anything lined up but keep an eye out all the same. You never know what's coming around the corner.
