– Chapter 2 –
"It's locked." Scott said, looking over his shoulder.
"O god, what do we do now. Too bad we don't know anyone with you know, extreme strength who could easily break the door.." Stiles sighed as he leaned into the wall.
"Okay, fine!" The door burst out of its hinges. "Oops." Scott said as he entered the loft.
"DEREK!" He shouted.
"You owe me a door." The voice was coming from the spiral staircase. Derek jumped over the banister and, with a tremendous bang, he landed on the concrete floor, which looked like it was about to collapse.
"We need your help." Scott said. They all walked further into the loft. You could see Derek had only put essential furniture in it. It was nearly empty.
"Well, speak up." He said, walking towards the big table in the centre of the room. They followed.
"Did you ever.." Scott hesitated, "Experience difficulties when you became an alpha?"
Derek slowly raised his head so he could look into Scott's eyes. There was a slight fear in his eyes. "Like what?"
"Well, you know," Scott glanced at Stiles, who gave him a quick, affirming nod. "Like losing control again."
"No, why do you ask?" He'd turned around and was now gazing through the enormous window in front of them.
Scott concentrated. He heard Derek's heart beating, faster than usually. He noticed Isaac heard it too. Their eyes met for a second and Isaac raised one eyebrow. Scott replied with a quick shrug.
"Don't you get it?" They all looked over their shoulder to find the familiar face that had made the sound. Peter was standing in the doorway. "He did it, Derek. He turned." He slowly walked toward his cousin.
"Get out." Derek growled.
"What?" Scott was confused.
"I said," He paused, "Get. Out." His heart was pounding like crazy now.
"Um, Scott, maybe we should go." Stiles whispered, pointing at the claws growing from Derek's fingers.
"You knew it would happen one day." Peter said, once everyone had left.
"You don't understand." Derek said.
Peter walked up to him and put one hand on his nephew's shoulder. Derek shook it off and moved away from the window.
"What is it? Are you afraid? He is stronger now, but what does it change? You really need to think about this when you've calmed down a little." Peter said. He knew Derek could be a little stubborn when he was mad, so he tried comforting him a bit.
"Shut up. Just shut up." Derek said. He turned around and looked Peter in the eye. And all he could do was look back into Derek's bright blue eyes.
