Chapter 2: the past comes back to haunt you
Luffy jumped into the water grabbing hold of the ship
"Luffy!" nami yelled after him robin looked on in concern as chopper tended to the two children who tried to go into the water
The smaller of the two shouted after luffy dove into the water scrambling towards the edge only for robin to stop him "stop and breath child"
The child looked up at her and for a moment robin saw luffy in his eyes, she bent down to the boy
"what's your name?" she asked calmly as the other boy slightly taller came over and stood behind the other boy and placed one of his hands on his shoulder giving the smaller boy reinsurance
"I'm Robin, Nico Robin. what's your names?"
The taller one looked at her is freckled face and his hair held a slight wave curling at the end was reminiscent to someone she knew, the way he held himself
"Victor D. Garp Portgas it's nice to meet you" he stated as he looked her in the eyes black to sea blue the other sighed holding out his hand the other brushing back messy red hair showing black eyes
"William, William D. ace Le fey "robin took his hand and shook it "it's nice to meet you Nico robin"
"Like wise" robin said smiling at the two boys
Nami on the other hand stared at them recognizing them slightly, only to brush it off as a coincidence as the likely hood of her thought being correct was astronomically low, then again Luffy dose have away with women though, Luffy is to dense to realize it or maybe ignores it. As small memories of events ran through her mind. Only for her thoughts to be interrupted by Zolo helping Luffy out of the water, a person laying limply in his arms and laid them on the grass of the ship, Usopp turned their smaller ship away from the giant ship as soon as Luffy was back on board, at fast as he could, chopper started to examine them when the two children rushed to their side
" hey …it's a woman …." Sanji stuttered out small heart in his eyes only for them to break
"Mum!" the little red headed boy yelled out, at that moment Luffy held him back as chopper began to examine her, the boy struggled agensted him
Luffy sighed bit "William…let chopper work he's a doctor, she'll be ok…...she'll be ok" he said the last part was quite a reassurance more to himself then anything slacking his grip on the boy not really letting go. And the boy held no resistance, the boy Victor stood next to them a sad look all three of their faces no one moved while chopper worked, Luffy placed his other hand on victors shoulder, the boy made no movements besides placing his own hand on top welcoming the kind almost familiar gesture.
Nami, Zolo, Usopp, and robin stood to the side , what was taking in place in front of them seemed personal. Ass if they all know each other already. Robin held a look of knowing recognizing the woman from the picture she spied earlier that day, though she stayed silent until Sanji came up the stairs with food and drinks along with brook and Franky. Robin walked over and gently placed a hand on his shoulder, he turned his head towards her she smiled reassuringly,
"take her to the infirmary I can watch these two. it'll give you a chance to think about you're your going to explain to us how you know her." She said
He nodded directing the two boys to robin, then picked the woman up chopper trailing after.
Robin looked at the two boys, William gripping Victors sleeve "are you two hungry"
Victor nodded fallowing robin to the others.
Luffy was left alone with her, chopper had left offering to stay, though Luffy refused. He lend forward his head on the sick bead, his hand in hers gripping it lightly, bandages wrapped lightly around her head light bruises forming on her wrists and cheek. He moved the hair from her brow and grinned slightly. The action waking her up.
"kearin ….?" Luffy realizing he woke her up
The she opened her eyes slowly opened, revealing an ever-changing color of hazel that would go from black, gold, green and brown. He noticed that her once dark wild long hair was now tame only slight ringlets now in a strange pixie cut in the back and two long braids the front.
"Luffy?, Is that really you" she asked placing her hands on his face siting up she chucked a bit "oh destiny's a bitch"
"couldn't agree with you more" he said smiling at her they sat in comfortable silence
"they've gotten big" he said referencing to the two boys up stairs
"they 're great, when I look at them, I can help but think about Ace, and Crona" she stated a tender look in her eyes as she spoke about them.
"do they know?" she asked raising her eyebrow "they don't do they" she stated
Luffy sweated a bit and chuckled nervously, Kearin laughed a bit to yawn after it
"sleep, ill let chopper know you woke up and feel back a sleep"
"Luffy we do-*yawn* need to talk," she said as Luffy guided her back down on to the pillow
"when you get back up ok" he said grinning
She pouted slightly but agreed "Thank you …." She whispered sleepily before, falling into a dreamless slumber, a small smile on her face.
Luffy kissed her forehead and left the infirmary.
Once Luffy reached the deck he heard laughter and conversations, he smiled and walked on deck. Going toward the food sitting in between the two boys rubbing their heads in affection Victor huffed at the action accepting it all the same
"chopper she woke up a minute ago-"
"WHAT-" Nami and chopper yelled
William wined a bit the noise a little much "why are you loud?" he asked rubbing his ears Victor was slightly annoyed but ignored it for the most part.
"yeah , Kaerin fell back asleep" he said grinning William nodded, knowing his mother
"so you do know each other" Robin said with an all knowing glance and grin
"what you know each other "Nami and Usopp said in unison a look of confusion on the others faces
"yeah, you could say that" luffy responded I worried look on his face,
William rolled his eyes, having gotten most of his mothers' personality "he's my father" he said getting to the point,
There was silence across the boat Victor chocked a bit on the meat he was eating, the statement, snapping him out of the nap he was having.
Sanji then pointed at Victor, "And Him!" sanji asked worred that someone as young as Luffy had a kid this age let alone two
William shook his head "no Garp , is my cousin my mother takes care of him" he said matter of factly
Brooke then interjected "so your mothers, sibling"
Luffy interrupted at that point "no, though I wouldn't put it past her, she'd probably do that. No Garp is Ace's son, his mother was a dear friend of ours" at this point Victor was asleep in a bowel of fish stew, Zolo nodded at that statement observing the two boys.
"so you knew about them and left willingly," chopper asked not just about luffy but Ace as well
"my father never knew about me, nor the fact my mother was pregnant. He left hoping to see her again one day, after making a name for himself. My mother died knowing I'd be taken care of and that my father was happy." he said shrugging
Luffy looked down sadly having told his brother what had happened to Crona and her child. He was happy to say the lest that something of Crona survived, even if it was a piece of his 'cursed self'.
Luffy ruffled Garps head affectionately.
"I don't have an excuse, we were going to be the best when ace left me and Kearin well you know…" he trailed off William and Garp turned a little green not wanting to hear about Luffy and kearins…..compulation that resulting in William they got up and walked to the other side of the ship making Nami and the others sweat drop. When she told me she was pregnant, we changed our plans, she decided to stay on the island as it was safer, she didn't want me to give up my dreams.' He paused a bit smiling at the memory " she even threated to leave me if I stayed it was maybe a year after William was born, Crona was gone for almost two" The image of a small 13year old kearin yelling at 14 year old him and one year old William a sleep in her arms, a two year old Victor in the armchair of her shack a sleep very few knew of their relationship at the time telling him that she wouldn't stop what happened or change the outcome her free hand on her hips.
"what about her family you just told us she had siblings, how did she support herself " Sanji asked
Luffy scratched the back of his head the subject of her family was complicated to say the least, looking at the two boys as they had come closer to the group, though at the present bother were asleep a light snore coming from his son.
"To know that, I'd have to tell you how I meet kearin"
