Chapter Twenty-One: Outclassed
Misaki's feet were a blur as he raced down the corridors, not even stopping to track which way he was going. And as he ran, tears streaked down his cheeks. He couldn't believe this. He couldn't believe that his brother was alive, and that those evil people had turned him into some sort of brainwashed robot. It was almost too much to bear, but he knew he had to keep running. No matter what, he had to survive.
Suddenly, a heavy blow rained down on his back, sending him sprawling onto the floor. Misaki looked up dazedly, only to choke on his breath as he saw Takahiro racing towards him with blinding speed and cold eyes.
"He has it too," Misaki whispered in fright. "Super speed." He quickly tired to scramble to his feet, but Zeta made it to him first and snatched his arm. The grip was wooden and harsh, and on instinct Misaki launched a side kick that caught Takahiro in the knee, but it didn't break his hold. Zeta's black eyes darkened and in a fraction of a second, bolts of electricity began to race down his arm.
"AHHHH!" Misaki screamed as the bolts pummeled through his body, burning his flesh to the bone. He collapsed to the floor, trembling at the zinging pain. It was then that Zeta shot a gut wrenching kick to his stomach, further crippling him. Saliva dripped out of his mouth as Misaki tried to process the agony blooming in his abdomen, but all he could think about was that his beloved brother was trying to hurt him. Even worse, it looked like this Zeta had more powers than he did. He knew that he had to get away, but running wouldn't be enough.
He would have to fight.
Misaki swallowed hard, inwardly apologizing to his brother before he lashed out with his legs again, this time using his super speed. The blow hit both of Takahiro's ankles and sent him crashing to the floor, breaking his grip on Misaki's arm.
As soon as he was free, Misaki bolted further down the hallway, but his panic spiked when he saw a dead end. He raced to the nearest door and flung it open, finding a large, tiled bathroom. He stumbled inside just in time before Zeta ripped the door off its hinges and cast it aside like a toy. Misaki frantically searched for another exit, but there was none, and fear gripped his heart as Zeta came closer and closer, cornering him against a row of sinks. In the blink of an eye, Zeta shot forward to try and grab Misaki, but the boy ducked at just the right moment and Takahiro landed heavily on one of the sinks, breaking the porcelain clean off the wall and sending a burst of water shooting up like a fountain. It rained down on the both of them, soaking their clothes in mere seconds, and Misaki was stepping in puddles as Zeta backed him into a corner.
"Stop resisting," Zeta's cold, robotic voice suddenly spoke. "Fighting against me is futile and if you continue to struggle I will have no choice but to knock you unconscious."
"Nii-chan," Misaki whispered in fright. "Don't do this."
But Takahiro paid him no heed, coming closer and closer until his hand was wrapped around Misaki's neck. The boy knew that he was in for another electrical shock as the iron grip cut off his air, and he trembled as he waited for the deadly blow.
But it didn't come.
Misaki's eyebrows furrowed as the grip slackened and he saw confusion flit across Zeta's face as no electrical bolts came to him.
Then it hit him: Takahiro was sopping wet. Water grounded electricity!
It was then that Misaki knew exactly what to do. With another furious kick, he broke Zeta's grip and sped out of the bathroom, finding an emergency staircase and dashing down it in the direction of the sewers.
Haruhiko couldn't help but smile as the yellow gas surrounded his pathetic excuse for a brother, dooming him to a suffocating fate. But as he peered through the smokescreen, his smile fell. The figure amidst the fog was still standing.
"I'm afraid, dear brother, that you've underestimated what an Alpha can do." Akihiko said as the gas around him began to fade, revealing him in his entirety, whole and alive.
"But how?" Haruhiko demanded, completely taken aback. "The doctor said that amount would be more than enough to kill you!"
"Did you honestly think that little ploy would work twice?" Akihiko scoffed, rolling up his sleeve. "I've been injecting myself with the antidote for the past month. I'm all but immune to your little tricks Haruhiko."
"Only in your inferior mind Akihiko," Haruhiko retorted. "I know for a fact that the antidote for TXV606 is practically just as deadly as the gas. Look at you. You can hardly even stand. I don't need the gas. I'll kill you with my own powers, and watch you quiver in fear as you see the might of Omega."
With that, Haruhiko spread his arms, and Akihiko's eyes widened as he saw a heavy metal desk rise up from the floor and into the air.
"You see Akihiko," Haruhiko said. "I'm not standing around complaining that my body was tampered with. In fact, I asked for these powers. But unlike your clumsy telekinesis…mine has been perfected."
Akihiko tensed as he saw the desk fly towards him at an alarming rate. Not having enough time to stop it with his own powers, he leapt to the floor and rolled out of the way, barely dodging it as it smashed clean into the wall.
But Alpha didn't stay down for long. Using all his power, he flung the desk right back at Haruhiko, but his brother easily deflected it. The desk hit the far wall as if it were a paperweight, and Akihiko immediately knew he was outclassed.
As he saw his brother's face fall, Haruhiko let out a stream of chuckles.
"You see, little brother? It's futile."
"Uhhh…" Miyagi groaned as his mind drifted back to consciousness. But as he tried to move, he realized something was wrong. His body was upright, and he felt cold steel biting at his back. His arms and legs were bolted down with metal cuffs and his bodysuit had been pulled down to his waist, leaving his upper body exposed.
"Ah, so you're awake," A familiar voice cooed. Miyagi immediately tried to thrash against his bonds as he heard Korovin's voice, but he soon realized he wasn't strong enough.
"Now don't be difficult Gamma," Korovin chided. "After all, you're a very important part of my plan…or rather, parts of my plan. Your powers were experimental at best, and even though they did come out better than expected, I've decided to hone our super human force, and there's no place for someone as weak as you."
"Where's Shinobu?" Miyagi demanded. "What have you done with him?!"
"Nothing yet," Korovin said, sounding annoyed. "The little brat turned invisible before I could catch him. But he will be here soon enough…I guarantee it. And now Gamma, let's see what color your insides are."
"Ahhhh!" Miyagi screamed as a scalpel slid in between his ribs. Hot blood poured from the wound and Korovin giggled as it dripped down to the floor.
"Looks like its red," He smiled before stabbing Miyagi again.
