Two in one go? Wow I'm on a roll!

Disclaimer: This SHOULD be the last time I have to say it; I do not own Death Note. Nor will I ever own Death Note.

Kathryn

"Come on, L, let's get you out of here!" I yelled, after knocking the guard unconscious on the floor.

I unlocked the door, and went straight to unlocking his handcuffs. I looked around whilst I was doing it. "Where's Ryuk?"

"I think he's still disabling cameras. Do not worry, fire won't kill him," L sighed.

"It'd still be good to know where he is. The whole nobody-else-can-see-me thing may come in useful."

"I believe that's why you had him disabling cameras," L pointed out.

"Shut up and get moving," I grumbled, finally unlocking his cuffs.

We managed to get off the floor unchallenged. Luckily, the kitchen fire had done the trick, and everyone was evacuating. Because sounding the alarms cut electricity to the elevators, we were going to have to run up the stairs to the roof, where our ride was waiting.

"What floor is Tasha meeting us on?" L asked as we ran.

"This is a ten floor building. The kitchen is on floor seven. She said she'd meet us at that door."

"Well I think we just went past door three, so let's hope she's already there." And he started to pick up the pace. I didn't know how he did it honestly, but I tried my hardest to keep up with him.

The doors flew past us; four, five, six. Unfortunately, the gap between floor six and seven was twice as big as the other floors, and we were going to have to climb four sets of stairs to get to the seventh door.

"This is odd," L murmured.

"Whatya mean?" I asked.

"It's almost like it's..."

"Oh no you don't!" I yelled. He gave me an odd look. "Don't say too easy! Don't you watch movies? People say things are too easy and bad things happen!"

I did have to admit though, everything was going great. I actually pushed ahead of him as I went up the second flight of stairs. Third...

And then I skidded to a halt at the bottom of the fourth. For standing at the top of them, was Christina Norman. And she was pointing a gun directly at my head.

Tasha

"Tasha! Tasha you need to get up now! Tasha!" Someone screamed at me. They were a million miles away and I was so tired... I didn't really want to find them.

"Tasha! Wake up Tasha! L needs you! Snap out of it now!" They were shaking me, and the more they shook, the further from the darkness I was, and the closer their voice sounded.

"Tasha! Please don't make me do this..." And then all of a sudden, my face was in pain. Someone had hit me. They did it again.

I opened my eyes to see Aizawa, who was about to hit me again. I grabbed his arm, and he met my wide eyes.

"Oh thank goodness your alive!" He exclaimed.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked.

"Ryuk called us."

"Ryuk used a phone? How does that even work?" I wondered, confused.

"Hey, if I can pick up a gun, I can pick up a phone," he chuckled from behind Aizawa. I only had just realised he was there.

"When I found you in the kitchen, you were unconscious. I carried you outside, into the garden on this floor," Aizawa explained.

"Outside? What? I don't need to be out here, I need to be back in there!" I stressed, getting up.

Aizawa helped me. "You want to go back in there? Tasha, half the place is on fire!"

"I have to get him!"

"L?"

"YES! We were supposed to meet at the stairway on the seventh floor. I have to meet him!" I was yelling now.

"Tasha, that's insane, you can't go back in there!" Aizawa grabbed my arm.

"I sure as hell am not leaving him. If it makes you feel better, try and stop the fire. Or, go help everyone evacuate the building."

"Tasha..."

"Go!" I yelled, before sprinting back towards the buildings entrance.

I ran towards the elevators, and threw open the door, only to be greeted with a gun at my head. Held by Christina.

"Ah- ah- ah... Close enough," She cackled. I peered around the edge to see Kat and L at the bottom of the stairs.

"How? Why?" I asked in surprise. Ryuk just laughed behind me.

"Of course it's you," He muttered, but for now I ignored him.

"Oh it was a good plan, Natasha, it was. You just left out a few minor details. Number one: The cells were wire-tapped. Number two: Your bedroom was too. And thirdly..." She trailed off, and pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket.

"Read this," she held it out to me. I looked between her and the paper, confused.

"Read it!" She roared, shaking the gun.

"Alright, alright!" I cried, snatching the paper from her. To my complete surprise, it was blank.

"What the..." I trailed off as I looked up. All of a sudden, a shinigami was standing behind her.

And everything made sense.

"Oh. My. God. It's you! It's been you all along! You're Child-Kira!" I exclaimed. Everything was adding up. Christina's complete urgency in eliminating L. Everything being connected to Nevada. Her curiosity about the case. Ryuk laughing behind me earlier.

"Well it seems someone's a quick learner," she sneered. "I'm guessing you would like the full story?"

"Oh I'm sure I can guess. There's a reason why nobody's ever met Agent 1 - because there is no such person. There never was. You are Agent 1."

"Not entirely true," she admitted, shaking her head. "There was an Agent 1 once upon a time. One of my acquaintances in the Homicide department. I planted the idea of the unit in his head, and when it was done I killed him. Nobody suspected a thing. His body was never found - I burnt it to ashes."

How someone could talk about killing a person with such an indifferent tone was beyond me.

"You needed L gone because you knew you wouldn't be able to complete your goal with him hunting you down," I murmured.

"And after that ridiculous media stunt he pulled, I was determined then ever," she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry Natasha. I really am. You see your Daniel soon. I can't let you live. You know too much."

"Christina please!" I cried.

"Shut up!" She said, shaking the gun. "Or I'll kill them first!" She gestured to L and Kat, who oddly, had been rather quiet through this. Maybe she'd already given them her victory speech. It wouldn't have surprised me if she had.

I took a deep breath. "L, I love you," I announced.

"And I love you," he replied. "I'm sorry I brought you into this."

That had to be the most ridiculous thing I'd heard come out of his mouth ever. He'd dragged me into this? Please.

"Aww... How sweet... Now both of you shut the fuck up," Christina sneered.

Please make it painless, I prayed silently, closing my eyes.

And then they flew open again, because this god awful choking sound came from Christina's mouth.

She clutched at her chest, and seemed in a ridiculous amount of pain.

"What the...?" I wondered aloud, as she dropped to the floor.

Dead.

There was only one explanation.

I spun around to find Ryuk slowly disintegrating.

"RYUK!" I cried. "What..."

"I had too," He mumbled, barely audible. "Your life span was almost up. I couldn't... let you die. Not after all you've been through."

"No, Ryuk. You... You can't be dying. You're a shinigami. Shinigami don't die!" I was crying now.

"I... hope you two... are..." And then Ryuk's face dissolved, and all that was left was a pile of sand and a Death Note on the floor.

"No!" I screamed, collapsing on the floor into sobs. "No! RYUK!"

And then L was there, and he was pulling me off the floor, and holding me.

"He can't be... He can't be..." I sobbed in his arms.

"Shhh," he soothed me. "We need to get going."

"NO!" I screamed. "We can't just leave him!"

L sighed. "Aizawa, can you collect up the Death Note, and as much of the sand as possible?"

When did Aizawa get there? I couldn't even think. Oh, when had I become so attached to a shinigami?

"It's not sand, it's Ryuk! It's his body! It's his..." I couldn't breathe.

"She's in hysteria, L," Kathryn announced.

"Sounds more like a panic attack," Aizawa muttered.

"Come on, baby, come on," L soothed. "We can give him a burial. But we need to leave. Now."

L ended up having to carry me - I couldn't move. I was in shock. I barely noticed anything as the helicopter lifted off and flew us into the horizon.

THE END

Or is it?

I'm joking everyone, I'm writing an epilogue. I'm thinking of a sequel... But I guess that's up to you guys. Review and let me know if you want a sequel!
