Chapter Six: Hell To Pay
We both started off with 6000 lifepoints. I could see Crow from the corner of my eye, looking extremely nervous and completely ignoring Sing's nervous worrying into his all too convenient ear. I hoped Yusei and the others were taking care of Martha.
"Let's roll a die to see who goes first," my opponent said, lips curled upward confidently.
"Yeah, excuse me for not trusting your dice. I'll go first," I said, keeping it business like.
"Doesn't matter t' me. I'll whoop you no question," the blonde man said, grinning cockily.
I drew, and smiled at what I did. My hand was just perfect for disposing of this bozo.
"I summon Jynx Merchant, in attack mode," I said, with the odd little monster blossoming from his card with a maniac grin on his little face. At least the little nutcase was wearing his cloak this time.
He was un hooded again, revealing the Joker-like red lips and wild green hair. I mentally sighed, thinking to ask him to put the hood back up, but demurred. I might seem a little crazy asking a card to change its appearance. A Jynx Token, a gold coin about the size of a dinner platter, appeared the moment he did on the field.
"Freaky..." He commented, although he didn't seem to rattled about Jynx Merchant's appearance. He probably would be later, though, when he started pulling faces. Ooops... Too late. Jynx already gave him the one finger salute. At least the bozo across from me didn't notice, or wasn't rattled by it.
"Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet. Next, I'll place two face downs and end my turn."
He snorted derisively, and drew his first card. He then grinned.
"Alright, I summon Jurrac Guaiba!"
I made a face as the card cropped up, a large lizard with fire blooming down it's slim back. It was the colors of fire, with a blue head and beady eyes being its prominent feature. Its attack was 1700, and defense was 400. It snarled and growled at me, proving my theory that this man was no ordinary Duelist.
"Aright, attack Jynx Merchant, Guaiba!"
The lizard lunged, maw open and hungry.
"I activate one of Jynx Merchant's special effects, Proxy! Instead of Jynx Merchant, one of his Jynx tokens is destroyed by battle. I take only 200 points of damage from the switch."
The coin shattered into golden light. Jynx was pulling faces at the man, but he wasn't even rattled. I took 200 points of damage, feeling it as very slight nips all over. Soon, Jynx just started pouting instead. I sighed quietly.
"Due to the effect of Jurrac Guaiba I can summon one other Jurrac monster if Guaiba destroys a monster this turn. It counts with those tokens, too. I choose Jurrac Galim in attack mode!"
A cross between a velociraptor and a pteroydactyl appeared on the field, jogging enthusiastically in place. It had a furred neck, with little yellow arms and an orange beak for a face. Its beady eyes were bright with excitement. Its attack was 1200, and defense was zero.
"I set a card and end my turn."
"Alright, my turn then," I said decisively, drawing. Another Jynx Token glittered onto the field. I smiled when I saw the card I drew.
"I play Rave Soldier, in defense mode."
There was a multicolored flash of light, and my first Rave soldier appeared. He was a tall, massive and Nordic man wielding a war hammer that resembled a Viking. The twist to his appearance was that he wore patchwork clothes, his main colors being in black and red. Like a card deck. He was only level one, and a little pitiful in the attack department- attack points- but he was a building block. As such, he was important to my deck.
"I play the spell Double Summon, and thus summon Rave Mageling from my hand. In attack mode."
The tiny pinkette spellcaster popped up, grinning happily to be called. Her purple and lavender striped hat drooped comically to one side, oversized for her tiny head. She waved a small gray baton with a pink circle at one end and a glowing heart on the other. Dancing happily in her small orange cowgirl boots, she grinned and winked her pink eyes over her shoulder at me. Her attack was small, 500, but that was about to change.
"I activate Rave Radio, and equip it to Rave Mageling to activate one of its effects, Fast Forward, in order to special summon Rave Mage!" The spell card turned over, and the staff that Rave Magelet carried naturally was enlarged to at least five feet long. With a bright glow, Rave Magelet vanished. In place of the tyke stood a goddess ready for warfare.
Her waist length pink hair was done up in two pigtails underneath her cap, now the right size for her head and sporting two ponytail holders for the pigtails. Rave Mage clicked her larger orange boots together, struck a thumbs up pose and grinned, which totally ruined the warrior aspect. Her once small, almost featureless purple dress was now a showcase for womanly curves that I had once envied, with a spartan warrio r's skirt at the bottom, still in shades of purple. Now, Rave Mage had bumped up her previous attack by 1000.
"Rave Mage, attack and destroy Jurrac Galim! Rave Ravage!"
Rave Mage giggled, and a blast of multicolored light rammed into Jurrac Gallim, shattering it into bits and pieces. He took 300 points of damage, and was now wide open for a direct attack.
"Jynx Merchant, attack him directly!"
"Not so fast!"
I startled in confusion.
"When Jurrac Galim is destroyed, I can destroy the monster that destroyed it!"
I abruptly remembered the double edge of that idea, thanks to my studies, "And I can discard one card to negate the effect, according to the card."
He scowled, looking a little irritated as I did just that, smiling wickedly. Lucky he didn't know exactly what spell I had in mind for this next turn.
"Now, resume attack Jynx Merchant!"
He growled as he took 500 points of damage. Now he was down to 5,200 and I was down to 5,800.
"I end my turn."
"I summon Jurrac Aeolo in attack mode!"
A tiny blue and yellow dino still half in the egg appeared before me. It coughed, and a tiny fire spout spurted out. I grinned- Rave Soldier could take that thing down no time flat, much less my Mage! And who I had planned for next turn could wipe it out easy.
"Now I tribute my Jurrac Aeolo to summon Jurrac Guaiba in attack mode from the grave!"
I sighed when I saw it. That thing was back again.
"Attack Rave Soldier, Guaiba!"
Rave Soldier was immediately destroyed, but I smiled, "My Soldier's effect, Summon Superior activates now."
I drew and laid down another Rave Soldier, level two with 500 attack and defense, and in defense mode.
"Tch! I can summon-"
I interrupted, "I activate my counter spell, Maniac's Blanket! By paying 300 life points, I can activate this spell and deaden the effect of Guaiba's monster destruction-summon effect."
He looked infuriated, "I end my turn."
"I lay two facedowns, and summon one monster in face down defense position. And tribute Rave Soldier and Rave Mage to summon Blood Moon Mage!"
The aforementioned monster and tokens disappeared, and were replaced by a massive dark skinned man in a white mage outfit. The hat crooked to one side, like Rave Mage, except that his was plain white except for the connected blood red crescents that dangled from it. He wielded a staff with the three phases of the moon represented- all in bold, shining ruby.
His eyes opened to reveal demonically red irises, and the powerfully built mage glared at my opponent. His points were 1800 attack, 2000 defense, respectively.
"So scared," my opponent laughed mockingly.
"Oh, you should be," I said, smiling, "Now that Blood Moon Mage is on the field, I can play my field spell- Red Moon! You know that lunacy was once linked to the phases of the moon..."
With that, I placed the field spell. Everything started to twist around me, turning into a nightmare version of the clearing, twisted black trees and a blood colored sky starting to steal over the normal dark blue that had fallen some time ago. I grinned, and the blonde opponent scowled when Georgiana started to scream in fear. The moon hazed over in a red mist.
The crimson spinboard appeared, unnerving my opponent. Who I really should ask his name, but I didn't give a crap right now. It spun, whizzing and turning turning turning. I grinned, heart thudding excitedly. I couldn't wait to see what Red Moon would choose for my Blood Moon Mage.
I smiled when Blood Moon Mage turned half transparent, and his defense points were halved. My lifepoints were at 5, 500. And his remained the same- at 5,200.
"Blood Moon Mage wears the effect of 'Ghost", which allows the monster to attack directly with no repercussions! However, their defense points are halved."
He paled. I was glad.
"I summon Rave Jester, with the effect of one of my facedowns- Rave Magnet, which allows me to summon up to three level three or below Rave type monsters this turn by paying for each with three hundred life points!"
The little level 3 monster popped out, smiling under his Jester finery. Blood Moon Mage and Jynx (both being Rave types) got a bump up of 600 attack points thanks to this little buddy, as well as Jynx going from 500 attack to 1100 attack.
I grinned as I saw Jynx get a further boost of 800 attack, leaving him with a larger, furred body and a slavering mouth full of fangs- as well as 1900 attack. More than enough to destroy Jurrac Galim. Rave Jester also got the ghost effect, leaving him with 3,900 points of impending damage.
"Jynx! Attack Jurrac Galim and destroy it! Rave Jester, Jynx Mage, attack him directly!"
All of my monsters attacked, in turns. The opponent was looking increasingly pained, as well as somewhat more fearful as each struck. Cuts and bruises were appearing all over him.
"Alright, I play-"
"I didn't say I ended my turn, did I," I growled angrily, "Time you'll get what's coming to you, scum! I tribute all my Jynx tokens, which number two, and also tribute both Rave Jester and my face down monster that I summoned last turn, Rave Knight level three!"
"The star of the show descends from the skies above! Let the madness rise, and the Rave commence," I chanted as I revealed my card, "Rave Queen, Synchro Summon!"
The beautiful spell caster flew down from the skies, landing easily and striking a pose. Her attack was 3000, her defense the same, and her level eight. She was my ace in the hole. One attack from her blew away most Duelists completely. As it was, the guy had released a screaming Georgiana and was staring in terror at Rave Queen. Glaring forbiddingly, she raised her chin, folding her arms.
Her pale skin was emphasized by jet black pony tails, and her tri-colored hair from the roots was ablaze with color and power. She may not be a dragon, but she was a proud spell caster. She wore a short ragged edged black skirt, with yellow and dark pink striped leggings, and a ripped pink tank top. She held a thrysus of a sort, with the same colors she wore- black, pink, and yellow. Rave Queen wore only a simple circlet of gold, and even that was tilted to go diagonally over her forehead. Her eyes glittered wickedly as she partially vanished, getting the ghost effect as well from the still-active Blood Moon Field spell. Did I mention it only affects Dark Attribute monsters or Rave types?
"Rave Queen can't attack this turn, so I end my turn."
He looked ready to pee his pants. He scrambled through his hand as I savored his desperation. It had been a long time since I'd been able to properly use my powers during a battle.
"I-I... I pass," the guy rasped, eyes wide and looking like he was going to crack, "I don't have... Anything that can beat a level eight synchro... Or that damn merchant..."
I smirked, "Thought so. My turn. Attack, each of you!"
Jynx dove in first, another Jynx coin appearing by his side as he destroyed either Jurrac Guaiba or Gallim. It didn't really matter. I scented blood, and I was going in for the kill.
"Hahaha! This isn't the end! There are more of us!"
Remorseless, I shouted, "NOW, RAVE QUEEN! Destroy the rest of his life points! RAVE BURST ATTACK!"
He screamed, loud and long, as Rave Queen's fearsome attack enveloped him.
Breathing hard, I watched as the asshole burned in his own mind, my continues eye contact furthering the illusion that he was burning alive from the last attack of Rave Queen. I may have overdid it, but that never entered my mind at that point. I felt that he deserved it, for hurting Martha. My vision was starting to blurr when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
Whipping around, my eyes widened as I beheld Crow. Backing up slightly, I watched him with wide eyes as he followed. When he tried to pull me closer, my powers lashed out. He was knocked backward, but only a few feet. My eyes couldn't seem to be torn away from him, for a moment. Another moment, I had turned my eyes right back to the horrible man who had hurt Martha and refocused on the illusion of him burning alive. His screams started afresh, and I smiled wickedly. It was music to my ears.
"Raeven... Raeven! RAEVEN!..."
All his pleas fell on deaf ears, as I realized Yusei had tied the man up and was now trying to get him out of my range. Snarling, I broadcast the illusion to both minds, angry beyond words that they would try and take one of my victims. MINE! My fracturing mind screamed, furious.
All thought was, abruptly, stopped, as I felt lips touch mine.
His lips.
Crow was kissing me!
I fainted dead away moments after this realization.
Life got to me. I'm happy to be updating now ^^
Okay... I'm sorry if I got the totals wrong. I just wanted to show off Raeven's deck. And if I got some of the stuff wrong, tell me and I'll fix it. Tell me if any of the Duel effects or anything is unfair, if you think so. JUST FREAKING REVIEW!
^^ I've updated! YAY! :D I hope you guys like it- I've been working on it for months, but somehow never found the time. Or inspiration.
I haven't got the stamina for Dueling, unfortunately. I just like the cards.
REVIIIIIEEEEWWWWW, dangit! This helps my inspiration, peoples!
What do you think of how... bloodthirsty Raeven got near the end of the Duel? The effects of dueling with her? How Crow kissed her? :) Review and tell me how I did! PLEASE!
I really need some feedback- good or bad- on this story.
Love, hugs, and cookies to all who review,
-June
