Chapter 19: heads Carolina tails California

Over looker's pov

Sam Manson, stood on a the roof of amity park prison. The girl breathed in, and readied herself for her mission, silently plotting everything out in her head; the girl shook nervously, and then shook her head refusing to be afraid. She wouldn't give Helen that satisfaction.

"Okay so I've been working on this bracelet that will allow a human to faze through solid objects, but it's unstable…"

She sighed once more as she remembered her, befriends words, and looked down at her arm seeing the silver bracelet that had imbedded itself in her skin. She knew that it was only a matter of time, before she was detected.

Pulling out the suction cups for both her feet and her and hands, and she begin climbing down the walls. After a few minutes later found the girl now climbed down, from the tall pennitentry. Tuck ever the useful, boy had found out the cell number of Danny's cell, and Sam knew exactly where to land, once there she breathed in, as she pressed a few buttons, and slowly begin to emerge into the wall. Her eyes were bound shut, out of fear, and when she opened them, she saw the cell.

It was mostly and empty room, that was extremely small, the floors were filthy and in the Connor was a filthy toilet and sink, and a small mirror. To the side, was a small cot? It was singular; they wouldn't let a normal inmate be with, Danny so he was in an individual, cell.

On the cot, was her orange jump suited boyfriend, he was in a deep slumber, his eyes screwed shut, and his fist closed. 'Poor Danny' the girl thought, his hair was even messier than usual. She thought back to the file her and the gang, had read through and remembered the guys in white were due to take him to their headquarters, the next day.

She had to wake him, and get the hell out of there, now. She clamped her hand, over her boyfriend's mouth, and immediately, his eyes shot, open and he resumed a fighting stance, and his eyes opened even wider, as he realized who was standing in front of him.

"Now I'm gonna remove my hand, and you got to promise not to scream." The girl said, as her boyfriend nodded, slowly out of pure shock, she did as promised and removed her hand. "What the hell are you doing her Sam; you got to get outta here before you get in trouble…"

The boy stuttered in a whisper, and he held her shoulders gently, and practically begged her with his eyes. "…wait a minute how are you here." He asked out of curiosity although they both knew then wasn't the time for such things, in the slightest. Sam lifted her hand pointing to the bracelet.

"I'll tell you later Danny, but right now we got to, get out of here, like now, before the guard notices something's off." The girl said, using her temporary, steel limbs, to slice off the chains around, his wrist and ankles. He looked at her in shock, and once again pointed to the bracelet.

It made her, normal human limbs, have all the force of steel. It came in handy for her mission that's for sure. "Sam you got to get out of her, before they get you." He said his eyes, pleading once more, but she continued to free, him from his chains.

Baby what do you say we just get lost
Leave this one horse town like two rebels without a cause

"Danny, I'm not gonna let, you please come with me." The girl said her eyes, now pleading it was as if, he was frozen stiff, and had no other choice, than to fly her out of there. He knew she wouldn't leave without him, and it was only a matter of time, before the guard noticed, something had gone awry.

"Sam, know that once you do this, you'll never have a normal life again." He said once again, pleading wanting her to leave, not because he didn't want her, or to be around her but because he'd rather her be free, now that she truly was then be trapped, by running from the law with him. Her eye's remained the same, she wasn't backing down, and she wasn't leaving without him.

She sat down on the cot, with a defiant look on her face, she didn't want to go here, she didn't want to pull this card, but she wouldn't let the main she was in love with, go with the guys in white, and be torched all the while wallowing in his own guilt. She rather die than that.

"Danny, I'm not leaving without you, and you can't make me, so come with me, or I'll have to go to jail." The girl said, her eyes sternly glaring at him, and he sighed, he was afraid she'd go there. Even though he'd hate himself for this, he as gonna go with her, and together they'd embark on a life of running from the law.

"come on" he said sternly, picking her up bridal style, as he changed into his ghost, form then he flew through the ceiling, with his girlfriend. "so what now, bonnie." The boy said with his signature lopsided, grin, and the girl simply pointed to a RV in a nearby parking lot.

I've got people in Boston, ain't your daddy still in Des Moines
We can pack tomorrow, tonight let's flip a coin

He followed her, point and fazed them through the RV. When he landed he turned, back into his human, half only to be shocked. Standing there, were the smiling faces, of jazz and tucker. Sage had decided to stay, with her father and Ethan wouldn't leave her, or his sister. So the pair wasn't coming along.

After the initial shock, Danny noticed the RV was extremely nice. The floors were made, of shining linoleum, and there were couches, on each side again the wall. If you were to walk a bit further, you would see 6 beds that were retractable. There was a retractable table, a medium sized fridge, and four TV's all through the RV.

It was equip with, with a state of the art, gps system, all in all the things, was a beauty. "Whoa" that all Danny could say he was absolutely speechless. He was hit in the head by pants and a t shirt. "Hey stop gawking and put those on. "

Sam told him, as she put on a smirk while watching his speechless reaction. After a grumble tucker, fired up the engine as the car begin to move, but Danny had a lot of questions. "So, where the hell did you guys get this RV." For a while everyone, just left him out of the loop, until jazz decided to answer.

"well tuck, hacked into the RV lot stores, computer and made it look like we bought it, so we just went down there and picked it up." the girl said as she tried to smile, but she still had that under minding guilt. Danny seemed to accept that answer, of course the boy had lots of other questions, and he'd get to them, but right then he's just be thankful.

Up in the mountains, down by the ocean
Where don't matter long as we're goin'

The RV was steady rolling, until they got to a stop light, and heard a series of hunks, after realizing it wasn't some accident, the group rushed over to the door. They were met, by a rusty old 80's car, in a really bad condition, and an extremely nice bmw.

In the bmw there was only one girl in there, it was a teenaged girl with brown hair, and green eyes. She wore a pink sundress with teal green hipster glasses. In the other car was two people a girl with blond hair and blue eyes, who was driving an a boy with hair, and eyes of the same accord, apparently they wanted the group to pull over.

So in when they got, to the nearest parking lot, they did. Danny who was now changed into his regular street, clothes went outside, to see what all the commotion was. The bmw and the old rusty car, who had now stopped, he realized had housed, sage in the bmw and Ethan and his older sister Kelly in the old rusty car.

"Well it took you guys long enough." Kelly said, mock glaring at Danny; as the girl got her bag out of the trunk, and walked pass Danny to get into the RV. "Wait a minute, I though you…" the boy said gesturing to sage, who now was getting her bright pink suitcase in the out of her trunk "…were staying with your dad."

"I was originally, but he told me to go, with you guys, of course he doesn't know you went to jail, or that were running from the law, but daddy told me, to go." Her chipper expression, turned into a sad smile. "Because of the scandal daddy's loosing funding for our company… my mom's company." She said then he understood, she was leaving amity park, for the same reason, he left grimey waters, because there was nothing left for her there.

We can load what we own in the back of a U-Haul van
Couple modern day Moses' searchin' for the promised land

There was nothing left, for any of them there, but bad memories, and old trailers. All that they had been right in front of them; all that they had was each other. He knew after all he'd just seen with Paul, and how he'd face his fears, he should tell them that running wasn't the answer, but they weren't ready to hear that yet, and right then it seemed they had no other options.

So in silence, he watched as the 3 got there stuff from the car, and greeted there other, friends and he watched the, as if it were a movie, because it seemed so surreal, finally he had come to terms with his past, and he was going toward his future.

We can go four hundred miles before we stop for gas
Hey, we'll drive for a day and then we'll take a look at the map

He didn't even realize when they all had gotten settled and were ready to go; he just stood there in awe of it all. Once again he thought of his time, with Paul and all that he had learned, and wondered for what must have been the millionth time, if he was truly doing the right thing, and truly letting them do the right thing.

Was it right, to let them run, or should he encourage them to stay and face there life, her in the town that had been there home all their lives, even though that wasn't what they wanted to here. Did that make him a hypocrite, for telling them not, to do what he did, what seemed like a lifetime ago, even though it was only a few months.

It seemed surreal only a few months, but yet he felt bonded to these people, like their souls were intertwined with his, like they were meant to journey through life together. So what truly was the right thing, to do and which one would have the best outcome.

What if he had have stayed behind in the ruins, of grimey waters, the town that had once been his home, would it have made him a man, fro not running, or would he have been the same clueless boy he always was.

In the end he was glad he ran, because in running it led him forward, to a life that he never could have imagined. It let him find love, the love he always dreamed of. It let him once again be united with his best friend, and sister. It let him save them, all of them including him.

So was it right even still, it seemed like he was always surrounded in shades, of grey all his life, were things ever truly black and white, true or false, opinion and fact. Or was everything just grey, just not a color yet the most interesting color of them all.

Was he a ghost, who walked in the façade of a human, or was he a human who walked in the façade of a ghost, or was he simply neither, or was he simply both, or something else entirely. He knew that too was a shade of grey, as was the vast universe that surrounded then all.

He looked up at the stars, as he used to do all the time; they were always so clear out in a small city. The stars were so far away yet so close, they reminded him of him, sometimes he even wondered if they were real. Sometimes he even wondered if that, up in the stars was where he truly belonged.

In the end he truly accepted, that he knew nothing, especially not the answers, he wanted he wondered if he would ever know the answers, he craved. He wondered it seemed that was all he could do.

We're gonna get outta here if we gotta ride a greyhound bus
Boy, we're bound to outrun the bad luck that's tailin' us

"Come on mate, we got to go." Said Ethan long, as he gave the other boy a smile. Danny shocks his head shaking his thoughts, away with them. He gingerly climbed the stair, and into the RV and his knew life. He wondered what it would hold.

He wondered once on the RV he heard the doors, close as Ethan's voice erupted in his ears once more. "Thanks, he said." This shocked Danny, was Ethan long, the same Ethan, who seemingly hated his, guts just thank him. He decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth, "for what" he said at a normal tone yet shocked, he couldn't believe it he just wondered.

"Look don't make this sappy, but I want to think you for not giving up on me, especially you. I was an ass to you, I tried everything I could to make you hate me. I figured you would anyway, so I decided to make it hurt less, but I want to think you for, not hating me, and doing what I failed to do, saving sage and bringing her to me."

Danny's mouth was agape, and everyone else just stood, idle in the room, shocked at what they were witnessing, Ethan apologizing, and Danny being speechless. It was shocking. "I understand that, you know keeping people at arm's length, it's easier, it really is, but it's not always better."

The boy said has he reached, out and stuck out his hand for the other, boy to shake. In another turn of shock, Ethan pulled the boy into a man hug, and Danny man hugged him back. "Okay let's get this show on the road; I want a tour of this fancy as mother fucker."

Yup that was Kelly, Ethan's big sister she was blunt, everyone broke out into laugher, as tucker once again, started the vehicle, and drove them into their new life.

A blue haired woman with, a white glow around her sat high on a building, glaring at an RV below her. Her angelic wings protruded from her back, and her hair wiped in the wind. Her face had a sad and hollow look on it, it could only be classified had disappointment.

Yes Paulette Reynolds, was disappointed in her old friend, and lover once upon a time. Once again he had run. He should know by now things always catch up with you.

"After all this time Danny, still you have learned nothing. But still I wish you well old friend, and I hope you live your live the way I never could." The girl whispered to the wind, as a single tear fell down her angelic watched with distain, as the RV hold her old fried, drove further and further from view.

Another lone tear dripped from her eye, and she near whispered to the wind once more.

"good bye danny."
