Chapter 40:
Midnight gave Jellal a look full of grimace before a bright light then caused him to look up at the sky above him. A constellation of seven magic seals were now summoned in the sky above him that were shining radiantly. He raised an eyebrow since he had never experienced Jellal using this magic before, as he was quite unknown to the true power of his Heavenly Body Magic.
"Grand Chariot" Jellal said with a loud tone before each magic seal soon released a strong light down towards Midnight who gawked at the scene of the bright light coming down towards him. He knew he had to act face before he was literally going to be cratered by all of the strong light.
With a smirk still pasted onto his lips, Midnight slowly waved his hand which activated his Distort Shield as it soon sent all the lights that were heading downward towards him to Jellal.
The tattooed mage scrunched his face up as he raised his hand up in a motion as he used Dark Force which soon sent Midnight sailing right in front of the lights in front of him. The dark mage's eyes widened in shock that his body had moved on its own in front of the lights as each one struck him with a tremendous force in a downward motion.
A huge explosion was soon heard as pieces of the ground flew everywhere as well as a gust of wind with a combination of dust soon filled the atmosphere as it was blowing heavily and fiercely.
Jellal closed his eyes as he raised his arms in front of his face as it shielded it from the force of the fierce wind that was blowing. He knew that just that one move didn't put Midnight in his place, of course the dark mage was somewhat wounded from it but not to the point where he was defeated like that.
The dust soon cleared out, as the wind soon returned to normal revealing Midnight standing firmly in his regular place clutching his arm tightly with a look of disgust on his face. He could tell that the Grand Chariot had actually done some damage, but also knew that Midnight wasn't going to give up that easily.
Midnight glared at the tattooed man that was standing in front of him with a sedate expression filling his face as if he already knew he was going to win this. He couldn't stand that calm feeling Jellal was probably feeling or even the sick confidence that was boiling up inside of him. Heck, Midnight knew he wasn't going to let him place another scratch on him.
"Play time's over: Dark Capriccio" Midnight said with a smirk full of deviousness before he raised his hand in the air as he soon fired drilling beams of darkness towards Jellal. A hunger was now flickering inside of Midnight; a hunger for one of them to fall for good.
Jellal then swiped his hands to use his spell "Heavenly Arrows" as it summoned and released several arrows of light towards Midnight which soon collided with his "Dark Capriccio" spell. He also found this an opportunity to send his "Heavenly Beams" towards Midnight to increase the impact he was going to receive with more beams of light. The spells then crushed into each other as it pierced fiercely through each other and towards their certified target.
Both Jellal and Midnight were now breathing heavily due to the impact they had just received from both sides. They knew that this battle would continue just like this if they didn't defeat one or the other. And of course, one of them had to fall for it to end.
"I'm getting quite annoyed by you" Midnight said in between pants, "But it seems that I may have doubted you and your abilities. It's a shame that you won't ever be able to use them again once I'm through with you."
"You just took the words right out of my mouth" Jellal said with a grin pasted on his lips, "I'm going to be sure that this time you stay down on the ground. Especially, since you've ruined today for me which was meant to be spent with Erza."
"I'm afraid that these are going to be your last few moments ever" Midnight said with a sneer as his expression soon darkened into a wicked one, "Too bad you won't be able to see your precious little Titania ever again."
Jellal raised an eyebrow at Midnight who now had his eyes shut closed. He then realized that Darkness Magic was soon gathering on his hands as it as well summoned thousands of black phantoms. He then raised his hand as all the phantoms began sailing towards Jellal.
"Be prepared to be entirely engulfed and dragged into a world of nothingness where your soul and entire existence will be entirely erased" Midnight said with a wicked laugh as he watched the phantoms sailed towards Jellal who had now crossed his arms above his head with his eyes completely shut. He couldn't help but grin at the fact that Jellal had looked completely helpless as it looked like he was admitting defeat.
But before the phantoms could even reach Jellal, they were soon stopped the moment he had snapped his eyes back open. All nearby shadows were now being drawn towards Jellal as well as the phantoms who seemed to be considered in resemblance to a shadow. A black orb with specks of white light inside was now clutched into Jellals hand firmly.
"I'm afraid I have a purpose to live right now, and that's to repent for my sins and for the sake of Erza." Jellal said before he finally unleashed the black orb which looked to be incredibly dense, and held a tremendous amount of gravity capable of crushing everything in his path.
"Altairis"
Midnight widened his eyes before the enlarged black orb soon struck him with tremendous force. He stood completely still at the moment he had seen the orb coming towards him, it was as if his body knew he couldn't win the battle between him and Jellal. As it soon announced, who exactly would be standing and who had fallen.
Jellal stood firmly as he looked down at Midnight who was not moving a single inch but lying flat on his back with a shocked expression on his face. He raised an eyebrow at the dark mage who seemed to be currently unconscious from the last impact he had taken which seemed to be a great deal.
Jellal then let out a deep sigh before he soon laid his own self down on the cracked-cemented ground. He looked around at the circus tent and noticed it was completely torn apart from the two's clashing, as it revealed the bright blue sky above. He chuckled silently to himself before he realized that Gray and Natsu were soon walking towards him.
"Looks like you trashed the place more than I did" Natsu said with a toothy grin as he stuck out his hand to help the tattooed man up, "But you did a good job on taking care of Midnight, looks like he can't even move an inch."
"Yeah, I'm actually not quite surprised since you and Erza are almost practically alike except that she's a girl and you're a guy" Gray said with a smirk, "But it looks like we're not done here- there's still some of the henchmen they sent outside this torn up tent. Think you can clash a little bit more?"
"I'll be perfectly fine to do so" Jellal said with a confident smile, "After all we're doing this to help Erza and the others clear out any obstacles with the retrieval of Sting."
"I still can't see how that idiot managed to get himself taken" Natsu said shaking his head chuckling, "And here he teases me about not being able to defeat Acnologia, when he can't even manage not to get caught."
"Tch, you dragon slayers are morons" Gray said with a snicker.
"HEY!"
Mirajane struck out her hand as she sent a blast of Darkness Magic towards one of the dark mages that were completely surrounding them. Now that they were in the enemy territory and closer to Angel, she'd figure that more of the little minions would begin popping up every single moment she was open.
"There's so many of them" Lucy said as her eyes streamed around the packs of mages that were surrounding them completely. She quietly gulped as she clutched her celestial keys tightly, getting ready to snatch one out if needed.
The celestial mage then looked over to Erza who had re-quipped into her Adamantine Armor to shield herself from a blast of magic that was coming towards her. She let out a deep breath of relief that she had both of the S-Class mages by her side to keep her safe from harm, but also to assist her in this retrieval mission.
"I'm sure we'll be able to manage, after all we're Fairy Tail wizards" Erza said with a confident grin before, she swiftly ex-quipped out of her Adamantine Armor and re-quipped into her Heaven Wheel's Armor. She nodded her head at Lucy before she summoned swords that were now floating in the air around them.
"You're seriously thinking on taking them all at once?" Mirajane exclaimed raising an eyebrow at the scarlet-haired mage who just had a simple smile curled onto her lips. She knew that all Erza wanted to do was get these annoying minions out of the way, so that they'd be able to continue their search for Angel and Sting.
"But of course" Erza said calmly before the swords soon pierced swiftly towards the mages that were surrounding them as each one of them were struck by one of the sharp blades. She carefully watched each one of them to fall back onto the ground knocked-out before she finally decided it was clear for her to ex-quip back into her Heart Kreuz Armor.
"Well that takes care of them" Mirajane said with a giggle as her eyes roamed up and down the aisles of mages that were now lying still on the forest ground. She crossed her arms as she looked at Erza who was now continuing down the pathway that they heard the voices coming from.
"I'm sure that they're just up this path." Erza said as she looked back at Lucy who was trailing right behind her with a serious expression pasted onto her own face.
She somewhat felt like the celestial mage right now was a completely different person than she'd be whenever they'd go on these sort of missions with Natsu, Gray, and Wendy. There was a sudden flick of fire of confidence that was burning in her chocolate brown orbs that meant she was determined and prepared of anything they were about to face. No matter what the cost took, Erza knew that Lucy would do anything in her power to defeat Angel. And this was a fight that the scarlet-haired mage knew she wouldn't interfere in unless she was needed.
"They're up ahead" Mirajane said as they began to increase their running, "I can sense the familiar magical energy of them. And it seems that Racer and Erigor are accompanying them as well, which means there's a little something Erza and I can do while you handle Angel."
"And I know you'll be able to defeat her" Erza said with a smile, "You're quite capable of many things, and I don't think you would want to disappoint me. Besides, you've defeated her once so I'm sure you'll be able to do this time except this time she won't be using celestial magic."
Lucy for a moment stiffened the moment the re-quip mage had announced that before she regained consciousness again. She let out a long, deep breath as she bit her bottom lip in anticipation. That's right, she had completely forgotten that Angel no longer possessed the celestial keys she had last time, and was no longer considered a celestial mage. She now possessed Angel Magic, and as she heard from Gray there was one certain angel that wasn't so pretty.
"I'm ready for anything she throws at me" Lucy said with a grin, "After all, I have my friends around and that's all the confidence I need to win this thing."
Before Erza could even respond back to the celestial mage's statement, she came to a rapid halt as she went into a battle stance. She narrowed her eyes at the two dark mages that were now standing in their path right in front of Angel, and the tied up, annoyed Sting who was squirming around.
"I see you've managed to finally find us" Angel said as she clapped softly with a smirk curled onto her lips, "Unfortunately, you're going to have to be leaving empty-handed since you're obviously going to lose against us. We're a lot stronger than we used to be when we last met, and we're prepared for anything this time."
"If you want Sting, you're going to have to go through us sadly" Racer said with his arms crossed as he stood beside Erigor who had a nonchalant expression on his face. The last time they had met, Lucy was sure that Wendy had cured Erigor's memory loss and that he had regained his memories. But it looks like this time, he had lost them again.
"You'll be dealing with us though" Mirajane said with a flicker of her demon persona in her dark cerulean blue eyes, "I'd thought you would've change the last time we had faced each other, but it looks like I must've been deceived at that moment."
"Whatever you say, we'll make sure you're defeated and imprisoned once and for all this time" Erza said with a piercing glare before she took a step closer to the dark mages in front of her, "Come."
Erza struck her hand to the side in front of Lucy as she slightly turned her head a little to catch sight of the celestial mage, "We'll deal with Erigor, and Racer you just go and defeat Angel. The quicker we do this; the faster things can resume on where we had left off. Stay in back of us, until there's a perfect timing for you to run over towards Angel and Sting."
Mirajane then transformed into her Satan Soul: Demon Halphas as she narrowed her eyes towards Racer, "You'll be dealing with me again, since you've committed a sin which must be repented by a well taught lesson by me"
And at the moment the Demon had stated that, she fully tackled Racer sending him flying off the cliff and towards the trees below. She looked back at Erza and Lucy giving them a smile assuring them that she'd be right back and that she'd take care of things. After all, Mirajane wasn't the type of person you'd want to be tangled up against.
"Erigor" Erza said with her arms crossed against her chest, "It looks like I'll going against you, and you've made a wrong choice on making an enemy again of Fairy Tail. Prepare to receive judgment."
"Fairy Tail… doesn't ring a bell" Erigor said with a nonchalant expression as well as an emotionless voice, "But I do know what the next weather pattern is going to be … and it's full of lightning!"
Erza raised an eyebrow as she watched the clouds that were above her and Erigor turn pitch black clumping together into one. She heard the crackles of thunder emerge from the pitched cloud which was a sign to her that lightning would be striking any second now.
Erigor then raised his scythe as lightning then began to strike down towards Erza who was staring up at the bolt coming down towards her. Luckily, she had then re-quipped into her Lightning Empress Armor as she soon reflected the lightning back towards Erigor. He then flew back into one of the trees that were behind him as Erza turned her head back towards Lucy.
"Lucy now is your chance to go and save Sting. I've got him under control, just go and defeat Angel" Erza shouted to the celestial mage behind her as she ran towards the direction she had sent Erigor flying into.
"Yeah and you better do it fast!" Sting said with a tone full of annoyance, "As you can see, I'm tied up right now and I would love it if someone could just kick this girl's ass right now before I get untied and do it myself. Personally I wouldn't do that ever, but she did this to the Great Sting. So- KICK HER ASS BLONDIE!"
"Got it" Lucy said with a nod as she dashed towards Angel who had an amused look on her face unlike Sting who was glaring at the white-haired mage with disgust. He honestly right now at the most, wanted to get out of these ropes but he'd figure he'd let Lucy handle this first.
Angel placed a hand on her own cheek as she smiled innocently at the celestial mage who was standing directly in front of her, "My, it's been a while since we've last clashed at each other. Seven years to be exact"
"That's right" Lucy said as she grasped her keys tightly in her hand, "And this time, the outcome is going to be exactly the same as it was seven years ago; with me defeating you."
Angel raised an eyebrow at the celestial mage who now held a golden celestial key gripped into her fingers. Her chocolate brown eyes were full of determination which caused Angel to shift uncomfortably as she unpleasantly frowned.
"Open the Gate of the Lion! Leo!"
"Hello princess" Loke said with a smile as he adjusted his glasses in an upward motion, "It looks like your boyfriend is in a little situation right now. And what did he call himself again, the Great Sting? Personally he doesn't look all that great and almighty when he's tied up."
"I'll have you know that these ropes don't allow you to cast magic" Sting said glaring at the celestial spirit who was standing in front of Lucy, "Just take care of this already!"
"Loke, as usual we need to defeat Angel once and for all" Lucy said as she pointed her index finger towards the dark mage who had her hand curled into a fist, "You know what to do!"
Loke nodded his head as he began to cover his hand in light placing into towards the direction Angel was standing. He then released the bright light beam as it soon fired towards Angel who still stood there with a wicked grin. He then realized she had opened her palm revealing two golden coins.
"The cost is twenty for annoying pests" Angel said with a giggle as a bright light soon summoned a tall, muscular, four-armed man with a beard and a pair of wings. The angel wore a fur-like toga and gripped a huge golden hammer, wielded in its two right arms.
Loke stood wide eyed as he watched the bright light hit the hammer man instead of Angel who was completely shielded by the angel she had summoned. He gritted his teeth to know that his spell didn't hit her but the hammer angel; to think she had used her own angel as a shield just like some celestial mages would use their own spirits.
"Smash those pests" Angel said swiping her arm in a downward motion, "They're interfering with my plans with Sting and I don't have time to be dealing with them right now."
Once that was said, the golden hammer was now being smashed downward causing the ground to shake from the impact. Loke narrowed his eyes at the tall angel standing before him as he saw the hammer being gripped tightly in his hand. He knew that he had to get rid of the angel before he smashes his hammer again.
"Regulus Impact" Loke said with seriousness in his tone as his right palm began to gather light into it before he clenched it close into a fist. He then swung towards the angel and the moment his fist met the angel a large lion's face materializes from light and strikes his target, blasting it away with great force. He then watched as the angel soon disappeared within seconds, leaving Angel to let out a painful yelp and give Lucy a look full of grimace.
"Looks like your spirit just kicked her angel's ass!" Sting said with a snicker as Angel then spun her head around to glare at the White Dragon Slayer and due to the fact that he keeps on cheering for Lucy. He honestly had no idea why Angel was even bothered by his cheering since they were never even in a real and committed relationship before unlike him and Lucy.
"Loke, you can head back now!" Lucy said with a reassuring smile, "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine, since I have all of you by my side! I'll give you a call if I need any help."
"Alright summon me whenever you need me princess and I'll be there within a second" Loke said with a smile before returning back to the Celestial Spirit World.
"You just got lucky that time" Angel said as she clutched the newly gold coins that were now in her hand, "You're going to have to pay the price for defeating my angel like that. The cost is forty since Shamsiel the Angel of Sunlight will put you in your place."
Lucy raised an eyebrow at the angel called Shamsiel that was now standing right in front of her. Shamsiel was a giant stone-like, winged cherub with a pompadour hair-style that contained two mysterious pigs in pink lamb suits. The angel had hairy legs, a hairy chest, broken-lined eyebrows, no pupils or irises, and a pig's tail.
"Alright then I Open the Gate of the Ram! Aries!"
Aries soon appeared in front of the celestial mage looking up at Shamsiel with complete nervousness filling her body. Not only was she facing against this ginormous angel, but she was also going up against her old celestial owner.
"Aries, try to relax Shamsiel with your wool. That'll give us the advantage to then strike him!" Lucy said with a voice full of confidence as Aries looked back at the celestial mage and nodded her head in agreement.
"Sorry if I did this wrong!" Aries said before she sent blasts of little bursts of pink wool at Shamsiel which soon attached to him and to Angel whos face was now completely calm and relaxed. It was as if she had completely forgotten that she was in the middle of a battle right now. This was when Lucy found this as a quick advantage for her to send out another spirit.
"Open the Gate of the Scorpion! Scorpio!"
"Scorpio, send your sand towards Shamsiel and Angel since they're surrounded by Aries wool!" Lucy said with a look of determination as she smiled at Scorpio who nodded his head in agreement with a smirk.
"We are… our sand!" Scorpio said as he quickly soon fires a thin but powerful piercing beam of sand from scorpion-like stinger towards both Shamsiel and Angel. Once the sand had made contact with both of them, they had suddenly snapped out of their dazes being hit by the strong impact from the beam of sand.
"Shamsiel do something" Angel commanded as she panted heavily from being wounded from the sand, "And do it fast before my plans are soon corrupted completely."
Shamsiel nodded his head as the two pigs in his hair began to shoot blasts of light from their noses and towards both Aries and Scorpio.
Aries then lifted her hands in front of her as she conjured her "Wool Wall" where a thick cloud of pink wool would be used as a defensive shield from further attacks but what she didn't realize is that the light soon penetrated through the barrier and struck both of the celestial spirits.
"I'm sorry!" Aries said with a soft voice as Scorpio gave Lucy a small smile before they both returned back to the Celestial Spirit World leaving Lucy standing now alone in front of both Shamsiel and Angel.
"Lucy watch out!" Sting hollered out.
Before she could even blink, Lucy was then swatted into the air by Shamsiel who had swiped his arm down towards her sending her sailing into one of the trees nearby. She shirked in pain at the impact she had just endured and at the pounding feet that were now coming towards her. She bit her bottom lip as she frantically looked through her keys trying to find one that would be super affective in the position she was in right now.
Lucy then noticed a small puddle of water besides her which gave her a great idea. She knew that this spirit would be completely ticked off for summoning in her a mucky, puddle of water. But she had to do this or her life was going to be threatened by Shamsiel.
"Open the Gate of the Water Bearer! Aquarius!"
Aquarius soon appeared with a not so happy expression on her face, "You summoned me again from this mucky water? Didn't I tell you last time that if you summoned me from there, you were going to get a complete hard spank"
"Aquarius right now isn't the time" Lucy said with a nervous look as she pointed her index finger towards Shamsiel, "If you don't handle this right now, you're not going to be having a celestial mage to spank anymore."
Aquarius's face soon darkened as she turned towards Shamsiel who was standing a few feet away from the two of them. Just hearing that honestly just set her off since she wouldn't let anyone lay a finger on her own owner even though she'd annoy her at times.
"No one is going to be giving Lucy a spanking but me; Giant Wave Attack!" Aquarius said as she absorbed water into her urn soon hurling it with tremendous force towards Shamsiel and Angel sending them sweeping away.
"Thanks Aquarius" Lucy said with a smile before it soon disappeared when Aquarius turned around to face her with that same darkened expression still pasted on her face. She could already tell that she wasn't off the hook for putting her into a puddle just yet.
"I'll have to give you a spanking later" Aquarius said as she turned her back towards Lucy, "Anyways, I have a date with Scorpio and next time, don't interrupt me when I'm on my way to it." And with that, Aquarius soon went back into the Celestial Spirit World.
Lucy let out a deep breath as she stood up heading towards where Aquarius had swept both Angel and Shamsiel towards. She noticed that there was no sight of Shamsiel anywhere which had meant that he had disappeared just like the other angel, Angel had summoned. She soon found Angel kneeling on the ground clutching her chest as if she was feeling an unbelievable pain.
"Are you finished yet?" Lucy said with her arms crossed as she began walking past Angel who still was kneeling in pain on the ground towards Sting who was tied up. As she was about to reach down to untie the White Dragon Slayer she heard a loud giggle coming from Angel. She turned to see her white bangs covering her eyes as a wicked, evil smile was pasted on her lips as she held out three golden coins in her hands.
"The cost is thirty, for Barakiel to knock you out with his destructive light."
Barakiel was floating above Angel as she was a white angel that possessed three heads, two large wings and two large arms. And within moments, just like Angel had announced a bright light soon filled the area causing a massive amount of destruction sending Lucy flying and Sting was still tied up rolling down the ground from the heavy wind.
As the wind died out it soon revealed Lucy lying on the ground motionless with her golden locks covering her face. To think just that one destructive light had caused the celestial mage to now lay flat on the ground defenseless.
"Blondie get up!" Sting said as his eyes widened at the celestial mage who wasn't moving an inch. It was as if a knife had jabbed right through Sting's chest seeing Lucy not move a single inch, or cry out a single word. The thing that he feared the most of all is that what if she wasn't even alive at all anymore? Had Barakiel's destructive light done that much damage?
Angel waved her hand up and down as she walked towards Lucy who still wasn't moving a single inch. A smirk curled onto her lips as she kicked the celestial mage on the side, cackling loudly at the sight.
"Looks like she was all talk" Angel said with a pleased smirk before she turned back to the White Dragon Slayer whos expression was full of hatred and grimace on seeing Angel just kick Lucy on the side like she was nothing but trash. He felt so completely useless that he couldn't do anything since he was tied up in the ropes.
"Well we all know who the new Eucliffe addition is going to be" Angel said as she turned her head back towards Lucy, "And that's me Angel Eucliffe. Sorry to say Lucy, but you lost and he's going to be mine. And let's just say that you're not that unexpected mate after all."
"Shut up!" Sting hissed out glaring daggers at Angel, "Just shut up! You'll never be considered as Angel Eucliffe and I mean ever! The only one that'll be taking my last name is Lucy, and just her. Come on Lucy, get up now and show Angel what you're made of! There's no way I'm going to leave here without you, I've believed in you from the first time we met! Don't die on me here Lucy, we need you with us! I need you with me, get up!"
"Oh shut it will you" Angel said before she soon crashed her own lips onto Sting's causing him to muffle his words of disgust towards Angel. She then broke it by curling an evil smile at Lucy who was still not moving an inch, "Too bad you won't be kissing Sting like that anymore Lucy."
Suddenly a bright aura began to surround the celestial mage as she soon slowly began to rise up from the ground. Her eyes glowed a fierce chocolate brown color as Lucy took hard steps towards Angel who's expression was still the same.
"Step away from him Angel; or you're going to highly regret that you even placed your lips on him" Lucy said with a serious tone which caused Angel to snicker in response.
"Hit me with your best shot, it's not going to do anything"
At that moment, Lucy's aura soon turned into a golden bright one that blinded both Angel and Sting from the amount of light that was coming from it. The celestial mage took a deep breath, shutting her eyes as she soon swiped her hand to the side when soon the sight that the two saw shocked them completely.
Standing in front of Lucy were all ten zodiac spirits she possessed standing firmly in front of her. Her eyes then snapped open revealing them golden as well as each spirit then charged each of its magic energy towards Angel creating a unison raid of the ten. A bright, golden beam was heading towards Angel which made her scream in horror as the light struck her creating a massive explosion.
Sting widened his eyes at the scene that Lucy was able to summon all ten zodiac spirits that she possessed just like that. He then noticed that the rope that was wrapped around his arms and legs were now penetrated from the bright light.
The light soon died out revealing Angel lying flat on her face not moving an inch, and Lucy still standing before collapsing towards the ground. Luckily, Sting had just caught Lucy in time before she hit the ground completely. He noticed that she was wounded and bruised up really badly, but was still breathing fine.
Soon Mirajane and Erza soon came back dragging both Erigor and Racer in each of their hands soon dropping them at the sight of the collapsed Lucy in Sting's arms. They knew that they had to get Lucy to Porlyusica soon or she'd be in deep trouble due to her wounds.
Sting was just hoping that whatever Lucy had just done, wouldn't put her in a critical condition due to all the magical energy she had used. No matter, Sting had to get Lucy to Porlyusica now or her condition right now would probably get worse.
"Thanks blondie" Sting said silently to himself before placing a peck on her forehead, "Don't worry, you'll be fine."
