Chapter 27
Lynn looked at her watch impatiently. It was late in the afternoon and they hadn't heard back from Maria. "What the hell is she doing?" she asked out loud. She ran her hands through her thick hair and rested her head on the back of the couch.
"Patience," Jeff said sharpening his knife in the chair across from her. "She'll call." He ran his fingers up and down the blade careful not to cut himself.
"Maybe I ought to go stand out in the middle of the street and yell out my name," she joked in a bored tone. "I wonder who would get to me first? Mariachi or DeMarco?" She glanced at him to see if she got any kind of reaction. When he didn't even raise an eyebrow she just rolled her eyes and went back to staring at the ceiling. "It's hotter than fucking hell in here, " she mumbled sitting her feet up on the coffee table letting what cool air there was in the room get up her skirt. She glanced over at him and watched him sharpen the knife. Sweat was beading down his face and his hair was pulled back in a tight pony tail. He wasn't wearing a shirt, just a pair of jeans and his shoes. She watched the blade as it moved back and forth over the sharpening stone making the veins in his arms bulge out. She groaned inside her head and closed her eyes looking away. I hate this fucking heat it's turning me into a huge horn ball She opened her eyes and focused them on the ceiling. I will not look at him...I will not move from this couch She crossed her arms over her chest and cleared her throat.
"What?" he asked putting the knife in its sheath and putting it on the table.
"Nothing," she shook her head still looking at the ceiling.
He cracked a small smile, "I can practically hear you thinking over here."
"Nothing," she repeated hoping he would leave it alone.
What he did next she didn't expect. He slid to the floor on all fours and crawled towards her ducking under her left leg to sit up between them. He leaned forward and gave her a chaste kiss on the lips. "Still don't want to tell me?" he asked.
She smiled and tightened her thighs on his sides, "Flattery will get you no where."
"Really?" he grinned.
She laughed and was about to kiss him when one of the phones on the table started to vibrate.
"There's our girl," he reached behind him and grabbed the phone opening it. "Yeah?"
"Sheldon it's Maria, I'll be to your apartment in ten minutes," With that she hung up.
He closed the phone and through it to his right on the couch. "Where were we?" he said lowly leaning forward.
"Was that Maria?" she asked as he started to kiss up and down her neck.
He nodded against her neck, "She'll be here in ten minutes," He ran his hands up her thighs lifting her skirt.
"Then what are you doing?" she whispered as his fingers found her wetness.
"Shhh..." he slipped a finger inside her making her moan. "Shhh..." he kissed her tenderly as he started to pump his fingers in and out of her.
She just closed her eyes and let the sensations take her. She didn't care if Maria came in on them. At the moment the only thing she wanted was to get off. She clutched his biceps and squeezed her thighs around his waist as she felt the familiar clenching in her womb. "I'm close," she breathed as he quickened his pace feeling her inner muscles contract. Her body tensed up then she threw her head back letting the most exotic sounds fall from her lips as her orgasm hit full force. "Oh Jesus... " she breathed calming down.
"Feel better?" he kissed her.
She laughed kissing him back. "Not that I'm not grateful, but you didn't have to do that," she said softly.
He tilted his head, "Yeah I did, I couldn't stand it a minute longer."
She gave a loud laugh then hugged him. "You are too much," she kissed the side of his neck, then his ear.
"Oh no, don't start something you can't finish," he pulled away from her and put a finger up.
"That's not fair I got off," she whined.
He couldn't help but crack up at her complaint. "I promise you can take care of me later, but Maria will be here any minute," he gave her a quick kiss and stood.
"Have you found him?"
Maria nodded, "About thirty miles south of here hiding out in a small village."
"Likes a low profile," Lynn voiced from the window.
"Good, I need you to get a message to him," Jeff said taking out a piece of paper and pen. He started to write something down and folded the piece of paper. "Have someone take this to the village and give it to anyone, they'll know what to do."
Maria took the message and put it in her bra. "I have been invited to a party at DeMarco's this evening. I'll do some recon and find out what I can. Then you can plan for your surprise attack," she said talking between Lynn and Jeff.
"Be careful," he pointed at her. "If he finds out what you're doing there he won't hesitate to kill you."
"You be careful too hmm," Maria returned as she stood from her chair. "Oh, and if I don't return there's an emergency number programmed in your phones. His name is Angelo, he will help you."
"Let's hope we never have to meet him," Lynn said raising her eyebrows at Maria.
Maria smiled and nodded, "If you'll excuse me I have a party to get ready for." She walked out of the apartment leaving them alone.
When he was sure Maria was long gone he looked in Lynn's direction "What are you so deep in thought about?" he asked seriously.
She had been sitting in the window seal since Maria had showed up, thinking. "Just thinking, " she said quietly.
"About?" he prodded.
"How all this is going to turn out...I'm scared," she whispered looking over at him on the couch. "I'm scared one of us is gonna die."
He just sighed and looked down.
"I know you're scared too," she said. "I don't think less of you."
He looked up at her, "Let's make a deal."
"Okay," she agreed.
"If one of us dies...we don't stop," he proposed. "We keep living, till we meet again."
She slid off the window seal and walked till she stood in front of him, "Agreed."
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a tight hug and laid in his on her stomach. "Agreed," he returned.
