Chapter 30

Red sky at night, sailors delight...red sky in the mornin', sailors warnin'... There was a red sky this morning. Lynn sighed as she looked over at Jeff sleeping soundly in bed. She couldn't shake the feeling it would be the last time she would see him in such a peaceful slumber. It could be the last time I see him at all she thought watching him. She stepped away from the window and climbed back into bed next to him making him stir lightly.

"It's just me," she whispered kissing him gently on the cheek.

He rolled to his side to face her and smiled lazily. "I know," he acknowledged.

She nodded not realizing why she felt the need to tell him when she knew he knew it was her. He can probably smell me a mile away she smiled to herself. "Still haven't heard anything from Maria," she informed a little discouraged.

He sat up and ran his hands through his hair a couple of times and popped his neck. "What time is it?" he asked glancing her direction.

"It's almost ten," she sat up and got out of bed leaving the sheet behind her. She grabbed a pair of jeans and a tank top out of the closet and put them on. "What's the game plan?" she asked pulling her hair into a ponytail.

"First things first," he stepped out of the bed and grabbed his jeans putting them on. "We give Maria another hour or so and if we don't hear from her we proceed with plan B."

She raised her eyebrows, "And that is?"

"What plan B always is...the hard way," he smirked.

She sighed. "Wonderful," she mumbled.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door and Lynn quickly looked to Jeff. "What do you want me to do?" she whispered as he hurried towards the door grabbing his gun off the dresser as he went.

Without a word he indicated for her to stay where she was and headed for the door. She watched earnestly as he approached the door with his gun aimed.

"Jeff it's Maria open the door," she said urgently.

He quickly lowered his weapon and unlocked the door opening it. "Get in," he ordered practically pulling her inside.

"Oh my God are you alright?" Lynn asked concerned coming out of the bedroom. "What happened to you?"

Maria looked pissed, "Angelo that little bastard sold me out to DeMarco."

"What!" Lynn yelled. "Who the hell is Angelo?"

"He was my inside informant," Maria kept wiping off her arms and shoulders. "He was the one who told me where El Mariachi was so you can bet your sweet ass he's told DeMarco where he is as well."

"Get your things lets go, now," Jeff ordered sternly to Lynn and Maria as he began to gather what little weapons they had.

Once they had everything they needed they fled the apartment and headed outside into the street.

"Act natural," he said to them as he took Lynn's hand. "You're gonna have to guide me a little darlin."

"Where are we going?" she asked both of them. She didn't know anything about the town but she was pretty sure Jeff and Maria did.

"The San Carlos warehouse outside town," he said plainly.

Maria narrowed her eyes as they continued walking, "The San Carlos warehouse? It's been shut down for years."

He nodded, "I know."

Lynn just stared at him, "What's at the warehouse?"

"Mariachi..."
