"You can understand if you choose to listen," Katsuya thought to himself, "Wait a minute, that's the same thing that what's-his-name said to me!" He then made a confused face, "Hold up, how can I even understand what that thing says?!"

He then thought back to the previous night.

Katsuya remembers the bitter drink that the large creature gave him and his last words before blacking out,

"You can understand if you choose to listen."

"It must have been that…" Katsuya then sighed but heard a growling noise. He looked down shook his head, it was his stomach. "Why didn't I eat when I had the chance?"

He turned to face the exit, which was a chunk of tree wood with an animal skin hanging from it. Katsuya knew that would lead him outside. "There must be something I can munch on quickly around here." He stood up and threw the covers off his body quickly before rushing towards the door. As Katsuya pushed the obstacle open and ran outside, he suddenly stopped and looked at his surroundings.

The house, where he stayed at, was blocked by large trees which almost rivaled New York's skyscrapers. The heat and humidity in the air was enough to create a thin layer of sweat on Katsuya's forehead, which he brushed off coolly.

Suddenly he looked down and felt the absence of the ground from his feet. "Whoa!" He shouted in surprise and looked at the terrain as he felt himself getting higher and higher. Katsuya was actually floating! "This is so cool!" He said to himself.

When Katsuya saw that he was floating too high he began to slightly panic. "Okay, how do I get down?" He looked around and shouted, "Uhh, somebody? Can anybody get me down?"

No answer.

"Hey!" He screamed louder, "Get me down from here! HELP!"

Suddenly he felt a large furry hand grab his leg and he looked down. Standing with a confused look on its face was a large wolf-like creature with large muscles rippling through its chest of fur.

"Uh…hi." Katsuya nervously waved.

The wolf began dragging his legs down until Katsuya's feet touched the ground. When the creature let go of him Katsuya began floating up once more, causing him to slightly whimper.

The wolf rolled his eyes and muttered, "Cubs like your kind are exasperating." It turns around and slaps Katsuya's face with its large bushy tail.

The teenager rubs his cheek but quickly grabs on to it when he feels himself floating again. The wolf begins walking down the dirt trail before Katsuya asks, "Do you know where um… Reynaldo is?"

The humanoid looked back at him with a sinister face but then turned back in the direction he was walking.

"Gee, rude enough?" The teen thought.

He tilted his head to the side only to face a large tree that was as wide as four houses put together and taller than the Willis (or Sears) tower in Chicago. Katsuya's eyes gaped.

Suddenly he heard the wolf speaking to another creature in another weird language, "Cub tem o seu rabo? Bolade?" The voice followed with a hearty laughter whist the wolf just crossed his arms and growled,

"Será que você saia do meu caminho, Clemente? Eu tenho que levá-lo para ver Reynaldo"

Katsuya's face perked up, "Reynaldo?"

He let go of the wolf's tail and rushed over to Bolade's friend, "You know where he is? Can you take me to him?"

All of a sudden he began floating again but was grabbed by Clemente's arm. It wasn't until that moment he noticed how Bolade's friend had, not one, but four of them! The one that was holding Katsuya was on its back along with another one. Its front two hands where crossed and held some sort of large hammer that was attached to some sort of vine. Tribal markings covered his arms and his broad chest that was just as built as Bolade's, and one his face he had three horns, one on the right, one on the left, and a larger, sharper one that was smack dab in the middle.

Clemente laughed heartily once more and said, "You should be more careful, little cub," He placed a heavy hand on Katsuya's shoulder to hold him down against the defying gravity, "The spirits of gravity themselves are saying you have to put on a few more pounds of weight and muscle to walk on our grounds!" He poked Katsuya's stomach playfully with his colossal finger and nearly knocked Katsuya on his back.

Katsuya rubbed his stomach slightly scowling, "I weigh the normal amount!" He lashed, "My doctor says my weight's been constant."

Instantly after Katsuya finished speaking a large horn blared lowly, yet loudly. Clemente elbowed Bolade in the chest and said, "The gathering is about to begin, let us move on."

Katsuya looked up at him and asked, "What gathering? Is that where Reynaldo is? Let me speak to him!"

Clemente laughed heartedly once more, "Patience young cub," He spoke as they began to walk in with his hand still on Katsuya's shoulder, "Patience."

As Katsuya and the two creatures approached the large tree that rivaled the height of the Sears/ Willis Tower, Katsuya then noticed a hole at the bottom, where other kinds of monsters that looked like Bolade and Clemente entered.

As they all approached the entrance Clemente said gruffly in Katsuya's ear, "Brace yourself,"

When the three walked through opening Katsuya felt as if a bag of bricks had landed on his shoulder, and he felt the ability to plant his feet on the ground firmly. The need for Clemente's large hand on his shoulder was gone as the boy tried to find his balance once more. When he looked up his eyes widened once again.

Inside of the tree were creatures of different species wandering around, and speaking in different languages. At the center of the ground, there was a circle platform that had a golden weaving pattern on it.

That wasn't the only thing that caught Katsuya's eye.

On the walls were large tree roots for, what Katsuya guessed, listening to the leader's speech. He noticed many paintings of tribal marks and words hanging from the tree's walls, including one that caught the boy's eye in particular.

It read: Adhikāra banāvē śakē chē

"Might makes right, hmm," Katsuya breathed, "Not a bad slogan."

Bolade turned back to Katsuya and brusquely said, "Keep up, little cub."

The boy turned around and followed closely behind. "So where exactly are we going?" He asked.

"Searching for a few friends," Celemente said calmly, "They're in our regular pew where we listen to Reynaldo."

Katsuya scratched his head, "A pew? Hey Bolade, what's that?" Bolade looked at him with a stern expression that read 'no more questions'.

The teen then closed his mouth.

"Bolade! Clemente!" A voice chimed from above. They all looked up at one of the large roots and stared at another creature who waved at them all.

"Alejandro!" Clemente waved back.

Katsuya watched in awe as the monster jumped and flipped from root to root like an acrobat until it reached ground level with a large thud! It was a small creature with forest green muscular skin, and raven colored hair that hung in front of its dark, red eyes and down its horse-faced chin. On its arms and back there were stones designed as shields that had the marking of an eye on it.

THe creature ran up to them and said, "Bolade! Clemente! Tem sido um longo tempo, não?"

"Com certeza tem," Bolade said whilst cracking a small smile, it soon, however, vanished in a few short seconds when he noticed the creatures gathering, "but no more time for chatter. The gathering is about to begin, so let us find our seats."

Bolade soon crouched down on all fours and soon jumped up high just to land on top of the tree trunk Alejandro came down from.

Alejandro soon followed suit and grabbed on to the side of the tree, doing his acrobatic twists and turns as he reached the top as well. Once he landed on both of his feet, waiting for Clemente, Bolade looked turned towards his friend and whispered in his small gruff ear, "Do not speak our native language around the cub."

Alejandro looked at him unsure and asked, "Why not? He can understand our words, right?" The wolf looked down at Katsuya and said, "I'll explain later."

"Up you get," Clemente used one of the arms on his back to place Katsuya on him. "Hang on, little cub." Then he leapt up high until he reached his friends. As Katsuya climbed down, careful not to slip on the tree trunk and fall, he looked over to see Alejandro walking towards him, with a dark skinned girl.

It was Kia.

"Katsuya! I'm so glad that you're okay!" The girl said as she ran over to him.

"Yeah..." Katsuya said hesitantly as he looked at her clothes.

They had a few tatters and some rips but not as bad as his were,

"What's wrong?"

He shook his head, "Nothing."

Suddenly drums began beating loudly and the large low sounding horn blared again. All the creatures started scrambling up to a place that they would deem comfortable to sit and listen. There were large beetles that scrambled to the large hollow walls and planted themselves inside of small burrows. Horned beasts moved and walked pridefully towards the center circle before laying down on their stomachs.

Small odd looking fairies with colorful bodies fluttered onto many of the branches and roots inside. Large creepy bug-like characters crawled in through the opening and made their way on some of the tree sides and branches.

In a matter of seconds all of the different species were soon seated watching the same pink elephant that Katsuya had seen the night before walk towards the center of the tree. The leader raised his hands,

"People of the Clã de besta ," His booming old voice echoed through the room, "Heaven smiles down on us with great joy and prosperity!"

A few of the creatures began murmuring, "

After what we thought was gone from our world ages ago has now returned to bring this famine we have struggled through to an end!"

A few more of the creatures began murmuring louder,

"987 years ago a great battle between good and evil had taken place near this land, and scarred our world greatly. The guardians of the five elements, who fought that battle, left us with hopes that they would someday rise again from their sleep to put a stop to this madness!"

A group of the animals started yelling in agreement.

"A battle?" Katsuya leaned over to Bolade's ear and whispered, "What is he talking about?"

"Hush." The wolf said sternly and pointed back to his leader,

But now, now my people, our saviors, who have fought for our rights have now returned." Reynaldo turned around to face a large wall, "Our Prince of Fire, Kuwait, and Princess of Wind, Kaian, have returned to us all!" He spread his arms and two large cloth flags unraveled and revealed a picture of an older Katsuya and Kia. All the different species of creatures soon hooted, hollered, and chanted with joy. The old elephant turned to where Katsuya and Kia stood and nodded his head in their direction.

The young boy's eyes gaped.

"It's me."

He soon felt a heavy hand on his shoulder, "You're our prince, little cub!" He soon raised Katsuya's arm up in a proud manner and shouted out a warlike call, causing all the animals to turn in his direction. They all soon began shouting the same noises and bowed in respect to the young boy.

"Hail our prince! Hail our prince!" The people were joyful, yet unaware of the pair of eyes watching them from above, in hole from the tree.

A young man, dressed in all black, slowly let a cocky grin come across his face, "So the rumors were true," He thought to himself before closing his eyes, "Śabda Koku jō bahāra mōkalavā māṭē , prinsa Katsu yāna pharyā chē."

"Hā, śrīmāna."

The boy then crawled out from his hiding place and into the depths of the night.

Katsuya felt Clemente's large arms grab him and then he jumped down towards the ground. When they landed the large guardian placed the teen on his quivering feet. The crowd of creatures quieted vastly. Katsuya looked around at all of the eyes on him and then to Clemente for guidance,

"Go on, little cub."

He then turned back to the aisle where the large humanoid elephant stood and walked hesitantly towards it. All eyes were on the boy as he soon stood in front of him and looked into the creature's pale eyes,

"Your return to us is most fortunate," Reynaldo's voice quietly said, "we have been waiting a long time."

"I…I really don't know what to say right now…" Katsuya told Reynaldo.

The elenoid smiled and placed its large mound of a hand on Katsuya's shoulder, "We can understand why you're so speechless," he turns towards Kia who still sits at the pew, "you and Kaian have been gone from us for a long time. It's a joy to see you both back here again." Katsuya looks at Kia as well and she smiles back.

Reynaldo turns to the large crowd of people, "Tonight we will feast in honor of the return of our-."

Suddenly he snapped his head over to the right side and suddenly all was quiet.

"What's wrong?"

Humanoid placed one of his large fingers up in Katsuya's face and he closed his mouth in fear.

All of the people were looking around them and whispering in each other's ears. Suddenly Bolade's ears flickered,

"Get down!" He shouted as he pushed down his friends backs.

In a flash, what looked like a large raven with a bony mask, swooped through the tree, slightly missing Bolade's head. Kia watched as the creature disappeared through the other side of the wall,

"What was that?" Katsuya asked,

"It was a Shadow of Grief," Reynaldo replied, "Everyone stand your ground! No fear!"

"Shit," Bolade cursed, "They must've known that he was here."

Katsuya looked around in confusion before there was a deep rumbling from the ground below, "Do not be afraid, your highness."

Reynaldo said before Katsuya soon felt a pair of strong arms around his waist, "Whoa!"

He looked up and there was Bolade holding him as the wolf jumped up. As Katsuya looked at the ground he noticed a large parasitic-like worm eat its way through the base of the tree. His eyes gaped in fear as he began clinging onto Bolade's fur tightly.

Kia, who was watching from afar with Clemente and Alejandro breathed, "Oh… my… god…"

Chunks of rocks and dirt, as well as some of the land creatures, went flying all throughout the hideout. Some of them had even become trapped under the few tree branches that fell on the ground. Many of the creatures with the ability to fly swooped to the ground to check on their injured allies.

When a large rock made it's way towards Clemente he took the hammer in his hands and smashed it into a million pieces. All of a sudden a squishy, balloon-liked monster with three fingers on each hand and a long tail appeared in front of him,

"Damn the gods!" Celemente growls and swings his hammer at him as well. It blocks his attack and the two are in a deadlock,

"You think you'll win this battle, Clemente? Well today, luck is on our side."

"Bullshit!" Clemente spat back as he used his hammer and pushed the creature off the pew. He turned around to spot Alejandro protecting Kia.

A shadowy figure appeared behind Kia and she extended her arms out, causing a gust of wind to blow the creature away. But suddenly it reappeared,

"Your attack has no effect." The ghost remarked evilly, Kia then screamed. "Alejandro, watch your back!

Clemente shouted as he throw his hammer at the creature hitting the ghoul smack dab in the face and sending it flying off the pew.

Suddenly they heard a large crashing noise and looked up. The ceiling of the tree had been drilled by the large worm and formed a large hole through it. The worm soon disappeared outside as more creatures from the enemy's side began jumping in, screeching and yelling battle cries in the process.

"Oh gods…" Alejandro whispered as he watched the horror envelop in front of his tribe.

The creatures at the bottom center of the tree began screaming in horror and fear as the new monsters began dropping down from what seemed like the heavens-turned-to-a-skyward-hell. And at the very top of the tree a man was standing and he looked down at the newly-made battlefield and smile evilly.

His long, dark, raven colored hair blew in the wind and illuminated in the moonlight. A long black trench coat, which he wore over his chisled bare chest, fluttered in the wind as well, and let off and evil aura.

This mysterious man was the person who started the war in this world so many years ago.

Who had been put in a deep sleep for 987 years 1,000 years ago in the past.

His red eyes gleamed with greed and insatiability, "And now…" He takes in deep breath and smirks, "…the real war begins."
