(A/N: Okay, so after constant edits and rewrites, I FINALLY finished this chapter! -_- *SIGH*. If it took me this long to write this one imagine the next installments afterwards. But I hope that they won't take as long considering that I actually kind of know the direction that it will take unlike this one, where I basically just wrote stuff from the top of my head. I kinda also rushed the endings to get it out of the way so... if it seems sub-par I won't say I didn't warn you -_-. But anyway, be prepared 'cuz this chapter is a long one compared to the others. All in all I actually like the way it ended up. There will be one more part to conclude chapter 3 and afterwards I'll finally move on to chapter 4 :D (Thank god)!
Enjoy :)! )
"Sim senhor!" Alejandro responded then he turned to Kia, "Come now princess, Clemente and I must find you both somewhere safe to stay." He swooped Kia into his arms and turned to find his tri-horned friend, "Clemente, Dê-me um caminhoclaro!"
Clemente pushed another creature off the pew with his foot and said, "No meucaminho!" He threw the large hammer over his friend's head and hit the many creatures in their path.
Bolade, on the other hand, was still clinging on to the wall with Katsuya in his arms. When he heard that his two friends were running to find a place to hide Kia, Bolade took action.
"Hang on!"
The wolf began to swing himself to the side, grasping and burrowing the walls with his sharp nails. Katsuya constantly felt himself being jerked around, despite Bolade holding him tightly, and started whimpering.
When Bolade landed on the ground next to his friends Alejandro shouted, "This way!" The green monster turned towards the tree wall, "Throw them in here!"He began pushing a large rock in revealing a hidden room.
Bolade and Alejandro threw the two kids inside of a hidden small burrow in the tree, "Stay here and don't move," The large wolf humanoid demanded, "I will return."
Katsuya scrambled up, "Bolade wait! I can help!" He shouted before the wolf left and pushed a rock in front of the door, blocking both kid's chances of leaving the hideout.
Katsuya, now angered, quickly kicked his leg out and sent a stream of fire at the rock. When he placed his leg back down on the ground he felt the tree rumbling under his feet.
Kia placed her ear on the ground. "Shit," She whispered and then looked at Katsuya, "Katsuya get down!"
Kia hurled herself at him and pushed them both out of the way of another worm digging its way through the burrow. Both kids quickly scrambled away from the newly made pit and looked up,
"Holy shit..." Katsuya breathed out, Kia looked up at the hole and jumped up. A small gust of air caused her to leap higher than any normal human and she landed on the floor above Katsuya, "How did you do that?" He asked, "Bolade ordered us to stay here!"
"Yeah, Katsuya," Kia says saracastically, "Let's stay inside the secret room with a giant hole in the ceiling."Katsuya scowled, "Come on! We have to find Bolade and the others and help them!" She extends her hand out for him to reach.
Katsuya then hears a thud come from under him, "Come on! Hurry!" Kia shouts and Katsuya jumps up. Kia grabs his hand.
Not even a second later one the beast creatures was hurled through the room and landed on the ground. "Damn…" Katsuya said as he and Kia tried to pull him up through the ceiling hole.
"Come on," he faced Kia, "Let's go!"
They turned to the burrow's opening a proceeded to run out of it. Suddenly ghost with a hair like mask covering its face appeared before them and hissed. "Kia get behind me." Katsuya ordered,
"Well, the master was right," It reached a bony finger out to the raven haired boy and lifted his chin up, "The Prince of Fire has returned."
Katsuya then summoned a streak of fire from his hands and smacked the creature's hand away from his face. It shrieked in pain before being dragged out of the room by Bolade, "I thought we told you to stay inside!" He scratched the ghost with his long claws and threw it towards the bottom of the tree.
"We were trying to find a way to help you-!" In the midst of it all Kia saw an opposing enemy appear behind Bolade,
"Look out!"
He sent a fireball in the direction she was pointing.
"You both have to leave now," the humanoid told them, "it's too dangerous for you bothsince you just discovered your powers. You are both still beginners!"
"No!" Katsuya said, "I'm not running away! Who do you think I am? Shinji Ikari?" Suddenly a tanned creature with sharpened bones for its hands tried swiping at Bolade from behind. Katsuya burnt it with a larger firebolt.
"There is no time, young cub! You must leave now!"
The raven haired boy just stood his ground scowling.
"I don't have time for this!" The wolf turned to Kia, "Princess, take him and leave immediately!"
Sensing the seriousness in his voice Kia nodded and replied, "Yes sir!"
In a flash Kia grabbed Katsuya's arm and ran towards the edge of the pew. "Wait! What are you doing?!" They jumped off and the boy screamed.
Suddenly he was… running?
Not realizing he had closed them, Katsuya opened his eyes and noticed that they were both running on air…literally. "Is Kia doing this?" He thought, not believing it.
His eyes trailed towards his feet, "Don't look down!" She tells him, "Otherwise I'll lose focus."
Katsuya continued to keep his eyes on her back. From the side he spotted what looked like an ugly, flying worm head towards them. Charging up his strength he sent flash of fire its way. It then burned while falling to the ground. "I got your back!"
Kia then spotted what looked like a large moth fighting against two of the same kind of worms. With two swipes of its wings, it knocked its enemies away. "Hey!" She shouted, "Up here!" The moth's antennae twitched and it looked up, spotting Kia running with Katsuya. Suddenly another one of the worms came flying behind the two kid at an immensely fast speed and hit Kia in the back with great impact.
She let out a yell of pain and they both began to fall towards the ground.
"Princess!" The moth shouted before quickly taking off. It caught Katsuya and Kia on its back,
"Leve-os daqui!" Bolade shouted from afar,
"Eu vou!"
Katsuya wrapped one arm around Kia and the other gripped the insect's back as the moth quickly began flying upwards towards the tree's newly made exit.
"Be safe," the wolf thought to himself as he watched them leave.
They were inches away from the exit before what looked like a boned spider hurled itself towards the moth and crashed right into it. All three of them yelped in surprise as The impact knocked Katsuya and Kia off its back and into a secluded part of the tree.
From afar, the same boy with the dark clothing stood crouching atop one of dark creatures, watching like a lion about to attack his prey. He let the corner of his mouth curve into a smile, "Found you both."
The young man landed on the ground of a new place with Kia still in his arms. He groaned when lifting his head, "Kia are you okay?" He asked the girl who stood up quickly,
"Yeah I'm fine," Kia replied. She held out her hand towards him and quickly helped Katusya on his feet.
"Wha-Where are we know?" Katsuya asked while looking around.
The setting they were in was a lot different from the large tree. Instead, theywere placed inside of what looked like an old building. Broken or toppled pillars were scattered along the ground and littered the room. But it wasn't just the pillars that made the place look weird, no, it was the color.
The abandoned abode had a light yellowish hue like an overwatered plant. In the hallow halls of the building the light shone through it with a darker, more somber look.
"Do you think this was really where Bolade wanted to take us?" Katsuya asked, "Y'know so we could escape?"
Kia shrugged, "I don't know," she walked over and looked at the building's walls. There were carvings inside of a different language that Kia stared at confused,
"It's not Gujarati…" She thought to herself baffled at the many markings, "…what does it mean?"
"What are you looking at?" Katsuya asked walking to up to her, "I don't know," She replies, "It just caught my eye." Her friend stares at the writing as the well until suddenly he heard large footsteps coming towards them, "Get down!" He whispered. The two kids went and hid behind a cluster of fallen pillars, peeking up every now an then to take a glimpse of who was walking through the abandoned building.
Somberly walking through the abandoned building was a large creature that was built like Bolade.
"There he is!" Katsuya said as he jumped up from his hiding spot and ran towards it,
"Katsuya, wait!" Kia tried saying.
But the boy had already gone, following the wolf. Kia let out a frustrated groan and ran after her friend.
After managing to finally catch up with his comrade, Katsuya found Bolade stone walled room.
"Bolade, there you are!" He panted, "I'm glad you're okay. Where are the others? Are they alright?"
"Others?" His friend said in a sort of whisper, while turning around and facing Katsuya with a bone-chilling smile, "What others?!"
It hurled itself towards Katsuya, knocking and pinning him down on his shoulders. The boy screamed in fear and touched the creature's torso, allowing a beam of fire to come out and burn its chest. The humanoid suddenly jumped back and revealed itself to be the same masked creature that attacked Katsuya the day before. While trying to scramble to his feet, the monster quickly grabs Katsuya's shin and trips him again,
After being lost in the corridor and hearing the shouting noises echoing from afar, Kia followed her hearing and began running to its location. She spotted her friend struggling against the demon and rushed in to help him. "Since my air blasts don't work…" She tries to tackle the creature.
"KIA! GET OUT OF HERE!" Katsuya screams, warning his friend. But the demon swipes his hand at her and sends Kia flying across the room and into a pair of pillars.
"No!"
"Give me the ring, boy!" Iblis shouts, dragging Katsuya back,
"GET OFF!"
Suddenly an invisible force of energy pushed he creature back again, but this time through the wall. The boy, who had been watching them from before, stood before Katsuya with an army of Iblis behind him.
He was a little taller than him, had peach skin, deep brown eyes, and black hair with white streaks at the ends. The teenager muttered something that could be counted as a barrage of curses under his breath, as he focused on the damage he had just caused. The younger of the two quickly scrambled to his feet.
Katsuya and the boy both ran up and looked at the large hole in the wall before looking at each other,
"Hey!" They both shouted.
The taller of the two kids sent a kick towards Katsuya's face of which he quickly blocked and slapped away, causing him to slowly back away in the process. But which each step he took to move backwards, his opponent only moved forwards, kicking and punching in the process.
"I think...we might've gotten off on the wrong foot!" Katsuya told the boy, blocking his attacks in the process.
When the unnamed teen extended his foot out to his opponent but Katsuya quickly blocked with both forearms and shifted his weight forward, pushing his leg off of him. The other child caught himself with a cartwheel that soon turned into a single backflip.
"Anata no bōei no taimingu wa kanpekidesu," The boy muttered in Japanese, "Watashi wa anata ga hijō ni tsuyoi shitatamerudarou."
Katsuya smiled in a cocky way, "Sate, watashi wa karate no subete no sorera no toshi ga hontōni mukuwa rene, arigatōgozaimashita."
The Japanese boy looked taken slightly aback by his opponent able to understand his words, but then smiled smugly. "Mā, watashi wa karera ga shita to omoimasu…"
Eagerness gleamed in the teen's eyes, "... Imanotokoro"
The two teens rushed towards each other, both balling their fists in the process before suddenly a large eruption knocked them off of their feet. They both shouted in shock.
The taller, oriental teen looked down at the ground and then quickly shuffled to his feet, "Chīmu!" He turned over to the darkness creatures and raised his balled fist, "Chūshi!" He said in quiet yet loud voice, gesturing towards the broken wall.
The black and white creatures all began running towards the hole and filtering out of the building, with the ninja close behind them,
"Hey! Hey, wait!"
As the last of the Iblis leave, the ninja stops and turns around facing Katsuya with a smug grin, "Catch ya later kid." He said before turning back around,
"You speak English? Hey wait!" Katsuya shouted jumping to his feet and running towards the newly made exit, following the ninja. The older boy reached the hole just as Katsuya shouted, "Who are you working for?!"
Then he jumped and let gravity subdue him as he fell down a few stories from where he and Katsuya were fighting. Katsuya, noticing the steep drop at the last minute, suddenly halted himself to a stop before slipping and almost falling.
"Who was he?"
A quiet groan was heard from behind him,
"Kia!" Katsuya said rushing over to the young girl layingunderneath the debris of the broken pillars. He helped the girl lean up and she rubbed her throbbing arm in slight pain, "Are you alright?"
"Well besides getting pimp slapped nearly halfway across the room like Tina Turner," She says following with a smile, "I think I'll be alright."
Katsuya couldn't help but smile back as well. He helps her on her feet as they stare at the collateral damage,
"Where'd they go?" Kia asked.
Katsuya walks back towards the edge, "That's what I was trying to figure out myself," He responds, kneeling down and staring at the spot the creatures, as well as the boy, jumped down from, "It's like they just disappeared into thin air after leaping."
Then Kia furrowed her eyebrows in suspicion, "Something's wrong."
Seconds later the ground began shaking again,
"Did they find us?!"
Suddenly it began shakingand splitting apart in two, "Oh my god!" Kia shouted. As Katsuya began to run towards theother side of the breakage. Kia reached her hand out to grab her friend but the ground began to topple over, with him at the top. His feet lost their grip on the ground and he slipped, tumbling down with the vast collection of pillars and boulders.
"KATSUYA!"
As he fell, Katsuya screamed in fear for what might be the end of him and suddenly everything went black.
Katsuya opened his eyes slowly, groaning in the process of clutching his head and rubbing the back of it. "Man, that hurt," He thought to himself while struggling to get onto his feet.
"Geez, with all this falling and blacking out I'm gonna get brain damage soon."
He suddenly felt a small pebble fall on his head and faced upwards. The stones that had fallen with Katsuya were now scattered around him, this time in what looked to be a large grey canyon.
He rolled his eyes and huffed, "Okay, where am I now?"
He looks at the wall of the gorge and stares at the faint pictures that, much like back at the abandoned structure, had strange, but different, carvings on them as well. Katsuya then looked at his hand and allowed a ball of fire illuminate the carvings soon became visible and littered all around all around him. The teen's breath was taken away with awe at the different symbols and signs. However, they all seemed to follow the same dialect, like a lost or forgotten language yet to be discovered…
The curious teen's exploration was suddenly halted by a cold wind that felt oddly out of place.
"The day began with such promise," a voice began, "I was to overthrow the beast clan, obtain more land for my reigning empire, and become one step closer to ruling Elenarth."
Katsuya raised an eyebrow, still holding his fighting stance,
"Yet now, my plan has been thwarted and I still don't have the land and information I needed," The dark energy reappears in front of Katsuya with a smug grin, "All because of you, Katsuyan."
Katsuya stares at the raven haired man, "Uh-huh," he stands up from his fighting stance and says, "Look I know that you're gonna think I'm crazy for asking you this but… who are you again?"
The man smiles,
"Kokujo," he lets the dark energy swiftly disappear before reappearing again, "Hidou (Kyshiro) Kokujo." Katsuya began to stare at him with slight suspicion, "Or in other cases the Prince of Darkness. No doubt you've seen my work or have heard of me from my invasions of the other countries."
Katsuya looked at the ground, "Invasions… Darkness…" He thought to himself, suddenly thinking of the book that he was reading moments before coming to this new bizarre world.
"Katsuyan's eyes widened but then turned back to a serious expression. He clenched his teeth together after hearing his dead wife's name, "Don't tarnish my wife's name in my presence, Kokujo. Otherwise you'll have hell to pay."
"So that means… I was reading about you! I was reading about myself!" He said aloud.
Kokujo began clapping, "Bravo to the little hero," He sneered, "although I would've liked you better if you hadn't remembered." Kokujo snickers,"Would've made you easier to kill."
Katsuya then frowns, "Well screw you, too."
Kokujo simply rolls his eyes, "Also, no doubt you've seen my work on these temple walls as well."
Katsuya continues to frown at said man, "Aww, are you mad at me now?"
"You killed them," He said "You killed them all just for your own gain!"
Kokujo just shrugs, "Yeah, and? Didn't the book establish this already?"
Katsuya then suddenly sent a fire bolt towards Kokujo, he dodges easily. Kokujo looks back at his opponent who stares at him angrily,
"Finally! Some excitement!" He says while getting into a fighting pose.
The two run towards each other, Katsuya delivering the first blow with a ball of fire in the palm of his hand. He shoots the flame out, expecting to hit Kokujo before his opponent disappears completely in a swirl of smoke,
"Huh?!" Suddenly he felt the cold wind's presence once again,
"Over here!"
Katsuya turns around only to find nothing behind him. A sinister chuckle echoed through the cave causing the young boy to look in all directions while walking quickly.
"Kuso!" He cursed underneath his breath.
Suddenly Kokujo reappeared in front of him. Thinking fast Katsuya brought his fist towards the man's face, a stream of fire following. But in a turn of events, Kokujo caught the boy's attack by his wrist before vanishing again.
Katsuya turned around and shouted, "Why you-!"
But then he felt himself being held in place by, what seemed like, a hand on his wrist. He looked and noticed a floating black claw holding onto him and refused to let him go, no matter how much he jerked his body away.
"Damn it!" The boy cursed.
"What's wrong, young prince?" The voice echoed before Kokujo reappeared, "Is something holding you back?"
Katsuya growled before extending his foot out to kick Kokujo's face but he disappeared again, leaving a struggling Katsuya.
"Chickenshit!" He shouted, hoping his opponent could hear him.
Anger was starting to overtake the young boy and in a matter of seconds, the ring on his finger began to glow. Then his whole right arm began glowing, burning the claw to a crisp. Katsuya rubbed his now un-gripped wrist and began scanning the area in search of Kokujo,
"You think you're so smart, don't you?" He muttered under his breath, "You can't hide forever, Kokujo! I'll find you whether you want me to or not!"
The boy created a ball of fire and started walking through the cave. His eyes continued to constantly look left and right for his nemesis that lurked in the dark. It wasn't long before Kokujo reappeared quietly behind him, a maniacal, bloodthirstylook evident on his face.
Katsuya then smiled chillingly calm, "Caught you…"
Being light on his feet Katsuya jumped and bent backwards, sending a stream of fire from his foot.
Kokujo blocked the attack and turned towards where Katsuya had landed. He sent burst of grey energy from his palms towards the boy who landed gracefully on both feet. The younger of the two evened out the attack by punching out two fire bolts his way, as well as an extra kick, before rushing towards him. As new and helpless Katsuya had been to this world, even Kokujo was surprised how long he had survived against him in a one on one battle.
"This kid really is a prophet…" He thought himself, the sly smirk never leaving his face. Kokujo sent his fist into the ground and suddenly a crack of dark energy illuminated and began to spread throughout the cave. The ground began rumbling, but it didn't stop Katsuya from having a fire bolt ready in his hand. He leapt from the ground,
"You're dead!" He shouted.
This time it was Kokujo's turn to smile.
Out of nowhere a dark fist came out of the breakage in the ground and struck Katsuya in the chest, knocking the wind out of him. His mouth was agape with a lack of words, and nothingexcept the noise of extreme pain coming from the groaning in his voice.
A short laugh erupted from Kokujo's throat, "Guess you're not as sharp as you think." He makes the fist slam the young child into the cave's wall.
No remorse. Not even to children. That was what he was taught. Kokujo's smile only turned creepier and more insane as he controlled the large fist to grasp Katsuya and repeatedly slam, and toss, him into the walls. When he retracted the glowing hand the boy was sprawled unconscious on the ground. Kokujo looked up,
"I know you're there," He said and pointed to Katsuya, "now finish him."
A dark figure from within the shadows began jumping from ledge to ledge until reaching the ground. As it walked out of the shadows the figure was revealed to be the Japanese boy from before, a bloodthirsty smirk evident on his face as well. When reaching Katsuya he formed a ball of purple energy from his two gloved hands and stared at the child with serious eyes. As the ball of energy stopped increasing in size, the older boy readied himself to attack the unconscious, younger boy. But in the midst of it all he…stopped.
The boy, for some odd reason, couldn't bring himself to attack Katsuya, even if he tried.
"What's wrong with me?"The boy asked himself.
A million thoughts, and voices, began running through his head,
"You've killed people before! Do it!"He thought to himself.
But suddenly one voice in particular said:"Darkness will ensure… without our savior."
"What the hell?"
The boy raised his gloved hand and removed the piece of clothing covering it, revealing a purple diamond ring on one of his fingers. The bizarre thing was the fact that it was now glowing and blinking.
"Protect our prince…" the voice said.
"I don't know what the hell you're waiting for…" Kokujo began lowly before increasing his voice, "…but if you don't do something in the next five seconds, I'm going to personally make sure that you both lie in a well-made grave! FINISH HIM OFF!"
"I-I can't…"The servant muttered in a quiet voice, under his breath.
"WHAT?!"
The boy turned his head around to stare at his master's face, "I-I mean I-." He retracted his previous statement, bit his tongue, and turned back to Katsuya, "Never mind."
The boy raised his hand up, ready to attack again.
Then, a turn of events.
Katsuya quickly opened his eyes and sent his flame engulfed foot towards the kid's face. The older boy yelped in surprise, blocked the attack, and backed away, inches from the flame which now formed a large wall. When the two enemies looked back Katsuya had disappeared behind the tall flames to another opening to the cave.
"You brainless cur! Go get him!" Kokujo shouted angrily, "Don't fail me this time!"
The young man quickly stood up and rushed after him.
"How could I be so stupid?" He asked himself angrily, clenching his teeth and furrowing his eyebrows.
He wasn't going to lose his target this time around.
Katsuya continued running through the cave of odd writings as fast as he could. When turning his head around he noticed the Oriental boy following after,
"Shit! This guy just won't give up!"He thought.
As Katsuya kept sprinting he noticed a cluster of rocks that were easy enough to climb upon. When reaching them Katsuya jumped up and quickly began to climb each one carefully, but still fast enough to still give his opponent a run for his money.
The ninja then smiled deviously, "Perfect."
He always did like a good chase. To him, it was nothing but Predator vs. prey, or a game of cat and mouse, his favorite form of amusement in fighting. The teen easily jumped up and began climbing the course of rocks and boulders as well.
Without thinking,Katsuya sent a stream of fire behind him by swaying his hand at the person behind him. He had to find a way out. With the older, more experienced fighter behind him, Katsuya knew he had to lose him, and fast. Then an idea sparked into his head. After jumping on top of one of the boulders Katsuya faced his opponent and began punching and kicking fire bolts at him. The opposing person made his hands glow purple once more before extending his hand out and actually catching the ball of heat into his hand.
Katsuya's eyes widened in shock, "Now that's cool…" He said under his breath.
The oriental boy then threw the fire back at Katsuya's face with fury.
"Shit!" Katsuya shouted before leaning backand having his hand touch the ground like he was an expert hip hop dancer. After leaning back up the raven haired boy created a wall of fire to separate himself from the enemy when he arrived. Then he ran off and continued to climb and jump across different pillars and ledges without a thought in his mind, except to lose the assassin behind him. His lungs felt like they were about to burst from the speed he was running at. When reaching a certain part inside of the cave he ran to the rim only to nearly fall off of its ledge.
His heart dropped.
This was it.
He was at the end of the line with no place to go.
From the other side of the ledge, there was nothing more than a sheer drop of death awaiting him.
Katsuya looked down from the pillar and noticed just how high he was, "Damn it," He thought to himself, "How am I gonna get down?"
Suddenly a pair of feet landed behind him,
"Now, where were we?" A voice said from behind.
Katsuya turned back around and saw the Japanese boy standing calmly with that same cocky smirk on his face. "Ohhh, believe me kid. With the kind of day I'm having, you do not wanna mess with me right now," Katsuya growled, "If you really knew what was about to go down, you would be afraid of me right now."
The enemy rolled his eyes, "Your threats don't scare me," He took a step closer. "They just hide your fear."
The Japanese boy lunged towards him in a flash. He extended his leg out towards Katsuya's face but it was blocked quickly and pushed off. The boy balled his fists and quickly sent flames towards his enemy's each attack the killer easily dodged by simply running, jumping, or flipping like an expert, and truthfully, it was starting to piss Katsuya off.
"Would you just hold still?!" He shouted while continuing to attack.
His opponent then gracefully jumped into the air, bent backwards to make his body flip upside down whilst elevated, and suddenly the world seemed like it was going in slow motion for Katsuya. The Japanese crossed and raised up both hands, one on the left side another on the right side, and they began to glow purple again.
Suddenly he spread his arms out and then Katsuya's world went back into its normal flow of mobility. Unbeknownst to him the boy had sent two large boulders to collide towards each other and smash him. At the last second, Katsuya noticed the stones and jumped out of the way,
"Shit!" He thinks while the assassin lands on the ground, "This guy is telekinetic as well? That's impossible!"
Katsuya jumped in the air and roundhouse kicked his foot out, releasing a stream of fire. His opponent rushed towards him, blocked the flames and went closer to Katsuya for an up close and personal approach. When Katsuya landed, the enemy extended his foot out in a kick, only to be blocked by his arm. The limb was then pushed back only to follow up with a forceful punch to the face.
The enemy leans back andflexes his leg, hitting Katsuya's chin with a powerful backflip kick, stumbling Katsuya's defense. He then crouched down and sent a kick towards his gut, causing the tanned boy to back away completely.
Katsuya then readied himself again in a fighting pose, "You can't knock me down that easily!" He told his opponent. Although Katsuya knew that there was no way that he was gonna win this battle, he still had to try!
The killer, on the other hand, was getting immensely tired of Katsuya's constant dodging and evading of his attacks, "Why won't you just die already?!"He thought.
The taller of the two boys ran towards his younger opponent and jumped in the air once more, kicking his feet out at Katsuya's face three times, only to be blocked by his rival's arms. When Katsuya saw an opening he spun around and kicked high in the air, hitting the white hair tipped Asian square in the chest and knocking him back. Using his exuberant impulses, the Japanese boy grabbed hold of the ledge, swung himself around, and kicked Katsuya in the back. The grey-eyed teenager landed away from his opponent,
"Damn, he's fast!" Katsuya thought, while wiping a small trickle of blood from the side of his lips. He noticed the boy walking towards him with a look of no satisfaction, "I-I can't stand down just yet…"Katsuya's mind continued, "…I have to get out of here and find Kia! I can't let this goddamn telekinetic freak beat me!"
He began standing up, much to the other child's surprise, "Being captured, or dying, here wasn't what I had in mind for a peaceful passing." He readied himself once more, but this time wobbling slightly in his stance from exhaustion.
"Why the hell does this fucking noroma keep getting up?!" The oriental child thought in distaste, "Stand down!" He shouted from afar.
"If you want me to lie down and follow your command like a dog," Katsuya began, his grey eyes gleaming with an odd willingness to keep fighting,
"Sonogo, watashi o korosu tame nihitsuyōgaaru to shite iru."
CRASH!
The bolt of energy landed in between the two boys, knocking Katsuya on his back close to the edge of the pillar, whilst the other was sent hurling off the side.
With catlike reflexes Shobu grabbed the ledge with his right hand, yelping in pain. His left arm swung helplessly by his hip, "Can't pull it up!"He thought to himself. The boy looked up at his other hand and tried pulling the injured limb up to the ledge before a sharp pain ran through it. He screamed in pain, "It hurts!"
The boy then closed his eyes, making himself glow a light purple, and began slowly levitating in the air. "Concentrate…! Concentrate!"A second later he feels the power of his defiance of gravity suddenly expire and almost falls again before catching himself.
All of a sudden a cloud of dark energy appeared above the young man, "Master! Master, help!" He begged, "I can't hold on!"
Kokujo stared at the Oriental boy with no emotion, before harshly stomping on his hand that was holding him up. The boy screamed in pain,
"Pull yourself up," Kokujo said in a monotone voice, "I have no time for those who can't help themselves." The boy's brown eyes widened in shock,
"As of now, you, Shobu, are officially resigned from your duty," Kokujo smiled, "you are no longer my servant."
The boy continued to stare at the evil man at a loss of words,
"But you-. M-My memories-!" He whimpered,
"Are not my problem."
Katsuya listening in on their conversation stared at the man in astonishment,
"That… asshole…!"
Never, in his life, had he seen such an intolerable act being done. Leaving, and not to mention dumping, your comrade in the midst of danger, was something the boy was always against.
In a fit of silent, blood-boiling, rage Katsuya readied a fire bolt and hurled it towards Kokujo. The dark haired man suddenly turned around and extended his hand out, stopping it in midair,
"Holy shit…" Katsuya whispered as he watched the flames being engulfed into a darker flame.
"As much as I would like to stay and see you both squirm, I have important business to attend to," He turned back and looked at Shobu, who was still in shock,
"Ta!"
And with those last words he disappeared in a stream of dark energy.
As Shobu hung from the ledge his mentality was off, blank, vacant. Truth be told, there was nothing going on in his mind.
Nothing at all.
He felt battered, betrayed…
…and worst of all…
…lost.
The closest thing he had to a family, much less a father, had left him behind for dead with no regrets. The guilt that had settled in his heart began to drastically increase within each passing second. Without his master, Kokujo, what would Shobu live for now? He had no one… and was alone now.
The boy didn't want to endure this pain any longer.
He just wanted to die and end it…
…Once and for all.
Shobu started allowing his hand to slip from the ledge. But, like clockwork Katsuya jumped up and ran over to the lost teen, helping him on the pillar just minutes before he fell off. He gritted his teeth and pulled his spikey haired opponent to safety before looking around to see if there was a way out.
Katsuya suddenly heard a blast come from below and looked across at the entrance, which had began to crumble. "Oh no..." He said to himself before turning to the Japanese boy sitting next to him. Katsuya began trying to help him on his feet quietly. "Come on, we gotta get outta here."
The other teen snatched his arm away from Katsuya, "Stay away from me..." He growled silently.
"Look we can save the rivalry stuff for later," Katsuya said, "We gotta go!"
Shobu looked at him and lashed out in anger, "I said, get away from me!" He held out his left hand and slowly started levitating Katsuya in the air after beginning to glow purple. The feeling of him being lifted into the air gave him a certain was of shock and fear.
But as scared as he was, Katsuya wasn't gonna let his attitude get the best of him.
He frowned, "No!"
The boy snapped out of the trance quickly, and landed back on his feet, much to Shobu's shock. The purple aura had vanished from around Katsuya as he shouted, "I'm not gonna leave you here just because you're feeling sorry for yourself after what Kokujo did!"
He grabs Shobu's arm, "On your feet, soldier!"
Katsuya slings the injured teen's arm over his shoulder. He turns around back to the trail he came from before his face turns pale,
"You've gotta be kidding me."
Instead, a large gaping hole split the large cliff into two different sides altogether.
To put it simply...
...they were trapped.
"Kuso!" Katsuya cursed, "How are we gonna get outta here?!"
Shobu looked at the young boy whose eyes were searching the layout frantically, then over to the large gap in the rocks.
His gaze turned serious, "No choice…"He thought to himself before closing his eyes. "Concentrate... concentrate..."
He cleared his mind from everything. All the noise, all the worry and clamor, and all the stress... gone.
When Shobu opened his eyes quickly they flashed quickly.
A moment later, the two kids began to glow purple, "Listen kid, we're gonna have to jump!" Shobu told Katsuya.
The younger teen looked at him like he was insane, "Boy, are you crazy?! Jump?!"
"Trust me! I've done this a million times!"
"That's what she said…" Katsuya mumbled under his breath.
Shobu ignored his snarky comment, "Now on my mark, we run towards the cliff and jump. Got it?"
"Sure thing."
"Okay... NOW!"
The two began to run towards the edge of the column, "I hope you know what you're doing!"Katsuya shouted.
Once reaching the edge Shobu yelled, "Jump!"
After closing his eyes, the boys leapt across the large gap. But instead of falling to their demise… the boys were floating on thin air towards the other side. Kastuya opened his eyes only to notice them floating above the ground for a split moment,
"This is not real..." He thought.
In matter of seconds they reached their destination and the purple aura ceased to glow. The two teens then dropped like a sack of potatoes on the ground, Katsuya rolled before ending up on his side, and Shobu on his injured arm. He curled up into a ball and grasped it with his uninjured hand, wincing.
"Are you okay?" Katsuya asked, jogging over to his new friend's aid. "It's nothing," Shobu slowly leaned up, wincing in the process, "Goddamn it..."
"Okay," Katsuya slicked a few loose strands of his hair back, "Now if we're gonna get out of here we have to work together."
Shobu turns to him, "What makes you think that?"
"We both owe it to each other," Katsuya bluntly states, "If it weren't for that little freeze-up you had a while back, I wouldn't be alive and neither would you! 'Cuz if I hadn't saved your ass, you would've killed yourself."
Shobu looked to the side and mumbled, "Touché."
Katsuya looked across from where they had just jumped across and his mouth gaped open.
"Look!"
He pointed across at the small peice of land they had jumped across and noticed it crumbling into a million peices. Without a second of hesitation, the two boys quickly stood themselves up and ran back. "I know the way out of here," Shobu told Katsuya, "Just follow me and we'll be out of here."
" Hold on, We gotta get back to that tower first," Katsuya stated, causing Shobu to look at him confused, "I have a friend back there who I got separated from a when it collapsed." Katsuya looked at the road ahead of them, "I can' t leave her without her."
"Her?" The opposing teen thought while raising an eyebrow. He then growled,
"This kid is really asking a whole damn lot from me." He rolls his eyes before screeching to a halt.
Katsuya turns around, "What're you stopping for?" Shobu walks up to him quickly and grabs Katsuya's wrist before closing his eyes, "Wha-What are you doing-?"
"Shut up!" Shobu growled.
He needed to concentrate once more. Clear everything from his mind in order to find his teammate's friend. In a sudden flash inside of his mind, he felt himself being thrown into Katsuya's memories and he saw everything that had happened, prior to their meeting.
Then he saw her.
Kia, who was cornered against a group of dark creatures, with a fear-filled look on her face, and tattered clothes to match.
When he snapped his eyes open again, they were once again glowing a blinding purple color. Katsuya covered his eyes with his free hand and suddenly, in a flicker of light, they were gone.
Kia, on the other hand, watched in horror as the ugly monsters continued walking towards her. She waved her hands out frantically, hoping to at least effect one of them with her air blasts, but alas it worked to no avail. When one of the bony monsters began reaching out to her slowly, Kia screamed in fear,
"Katsuya, where are you?!" She thought with tears coating her eyes, "I need you!"
FLASH!
All of a sudden there was a foot that extended out and kicked the monster in the face. Kia looked up and noticed Katsuya jump from the top of the creature to another one, burning it furiously in the process. A wash of relief spread over Kia as she stood up, and leaned against the stone wall to support herself. '
Katsuya then landed in front of Kia and readied himself, "You stay away from her!" He shouted at the other creatures as they continued to walk towards them both. In a fit of rage-like behavior, Katsuya swiped his arm across and burnt each of the creatures on their stomachs, causing them all to screech in pain. Two seconds later a large pillar suddenly crashes in front of them, inches away from where Katsuya stood. His eyes gaped wide like a fish as he stared at the broken column, which could have crushed them in a matter of measures. Shobu then landed on the top of it, still clutching his paralyzed arm.
"Gee, that was a close call!" Katsuya shouted at him angrily, "Why don't you warn us when you're about to do some crazy shit like that?!"
"You're welcome," Shobu lashes back before rolling his eyes and scoffing in the process. He hops off the pillar and mutters, "Ungrateful little brat."
"What was that?!"
Suddenly Kia grunted in pain and held her arm. She began to suddenly topple over,
"Kia!" Katsuya turned around and caught her in his arms before she could hit the ground, "It's okay, I've got you." He looked at the scratches on Kia's body, then to her left arm she was covering with the opposite hand,
"Let me see that."
He raises up her hand, causing her to hiss in pain, before noticing a deep, bloody, gash that tore into her skin.
Shobu walked up to the two kids, "What's going o-?" His eyes stared at Kia's wound in shock, "Kuso ā!" He kneels in front of them and looks at the gash,
"Can you help her?" Katsuya asks with eager eyes,
"I can't fully heal it, I'm not a doctor or anything," Shobu replies, "But I can help steralize it for a while so it won't get infected." He slowly lets go of her arm and reaches into a small bag at the side of his hip.
"Katsuya, who is that?" Kia asks weakly, staring at Shobu as he continued to search.
"It's okay, he's a friend." Katsuya replied.
Shobu pulled out a small glass bottle, "Got it." The boy lifts removes the top with his mind and takes her arm into his hand, "This is gonna sting a little, alright?"
Kia nods, "Do what ya gotta do."
He mentally takes the bottle and has it slowly tip over. A small drop of a black liquid comes out and lands on Kia's injury.
A flash of burning pain ran through her arm and Kia screamed to the heavens. She began to squirm in Katsuya's arms and started gripping his shirt tightly, nearly tearing it with her sharp nails. Her shouts of pain rung in Katsuya's ears as he tried to hold her still. Kia began kicking her feet out and hitting Shobu point blank in the chest, knocking him back with an air blast.
"Is this really the best way to help her?" Katsuya shouted over her screams.
"I'm afraid so." SHobu replied, quickly recovering from the sudden attack. Even he wasn't prepared for that kick, which nearly knocked the wind out of him. Shobu pulled out a case full of needles, grabs her arm, and takes one out.
"Dude what the hell are you-!?"
"Just trust me!" Shobu plucks the needle into her skin and suddenly Kia begins to squirm less and less, before suddenly falling asleep.
"Good," He says, "She's gonna be out for a while, so don't start panicking." Suddenly Shobu starts coughing,
"You okay?"
Shobu nods his head and waves his hand, dismissing his sudden outburst, "Don't worry about it, it's nothing." He says.
Katsuya looked at Shobu then back at Kia, "Two injured kids..." He thinks, "We'll never survive." He reflects back to Shobu's eyes glowing, "I'm askin' a lot."
"Hey... Shobu, right?" Katsuya asks and the Oriental boy looks up at him with a serious glance.
"Can you teleport just one more time?"
Shobu's eyes widen in disbelief, "What?!"
"C'mon! Please? Just one last time!" Katsuya begs.
He sighs, "That depends," He says, "Where do you want to go?"
"Clã de besta." Katsuya replied with no hesitation, causing Shobu to roll his eyes,
"Are you freaking kidding me?! Do you know exactly who I've been working for?!"
"I know. I know it's risky for you," The younger boy replies, "but where else are we gonna go? I don't know any other place here besides there. And even if you did leave us-!"
Shobu held up his hand, "Wait, what?"
"We're not from around here!" Katsuya replied, starting to panic, "If we don't get back to Bolade and everyone else then-!"
Shobu once again rolled his eyes, "Sorry kid. But I'm not intrest-."
"DON'T INTERRUPT!" Katsuya shouted causing Shobu to close his mouth and stare at him with a I-know-you-didn't-shush-me look.
"You know, at first I wasn't interested in helping you, but now I'm definitely not interested." He said standing up, "Good luck finding your own way back, ungrateful brat." Shobu begins to walk away.
Katsuya frowns before an idea quickly sparked in his head, "Wait! If you teleport us back, I'll speak for you! I'll make sure that they spare you! And I'm sure that they'll help heal your arm."
Shobu stops.
Although it did sound like a better plan than going alone with a stunned arm, the teenager still held a pessimistic attitude. The idea alone caused him great pain physically and he didn't feel like going through with it,
"It beats dyin'..."
The boy heaved a sigh and said irritated, "Fine," Shobu turns around, "I'll help you."
He walks up to Katsuya and the unconscious Kia and stares at her for a while, "You better keep your promise or else... gaki."
Katsuya frowned.
Shobu then grabbed both Kia and Katsuya's arms and closed his eyes. Once again he found himself channeling through their memories until he finally found ones that included the Great Tree. In a flash his eyes started glowing again and soon enough they disappeared again.
Bolade walked towards the, now cracked, center of the tree and looked around at all the damage that had been done to his home. The mere sight of it all looked like a there had been an deadly earthquake had struck the place.
A tremor called war, nonetheless.
"Qualquer visão de mais criaturas?" Clemente asked him and he shook his head,
"Nao."
The fighting had finally ceased, but there still was no time to celebrate. Bolade sighed, "I hope they're alright."
Suddenly a gleam of purple light flashed before his eyes and the three kids reappeared in front of him. "Prince Kuwait!" He exclaims after seeing Katsuya holding Kia in his arms, "Todo mundo! O príncipe voltou!"
The remaining creatures all looked down at the ground and noticed the kids as well.
"Ele está bem!" One creature exclaimed, "Obrigado Elena!"
Katsuya looks over at Shobu who suddenly begins coughing into his hand again, "Are you sure you're-?"
Shobu grasps his stomach and keels over like he was about to vomit. But instead of hurling he continued to cough, when suddenly he started coughing up blood.
Fresh, bright red blood.
Katsuya stared at him in shock and then turned to his allies, "Someone," He cried out, "Get help!"
None of the odd beings moved.
"What for?" Bolade said, "That boy doesn't deserve to be-!"
"Please, he's on our side! I promise!" Katsuya begged, "Just help him this once! We don't want him to die!" He stared at his guardian with pleading grey eyes.
Bolade looked from Katsuya to Shobu who was now laying on his side, groaning in pain. Reynaldo then walked forward and opened his mouth to say something. But It was then that a sudden thought hit him and his eyes widened as he stared at Shobu as well,
"It can't be..."
He straightened out his face and shouted, "Curandeiros! Desça aqui e ajudar essas crianças."
Bolade looked at the leader in surprise, "But chief Reynaldo, he-."
The old animal stared at the underling with a cold hard face, causing Bolade to bite his tongue.
A few new creatures hesitantly rushed over to Shobu. Clemente placed one of his hands on his shoulder, and the teen groaned even louder, showing the amount of pain he was truly in.
"His chi is blocked," He said, "Take them all to the medical wing for treatment, but be careful."
A handful of the creatures nodded before taking all three children carefully into their arms and walking away. Bolade then stared at the night sky and frowned,
"E agora a verdadeira guerra começa."
