Episode 5: Jimmy Riddles. (Pt. 2)

Spilon successfully managed to get their book closed and ended the effect of the Senzaruk spell. It also ended the Zerusen spell, giving Damio both of his fists. Their book was on the ground and Spilon was at point-blank range. He held his left hand out in front of Damio.

"Genraiga!" The concentrated electric blast fired from the palm of his hand engulfing Damio's entire body in the blue-colored attack. The purple-haired Mamodo's ear-splitting scream filled the air. The beam faded leaving Damio burned and his clothes in shambles. He tried to stay on his feet but fell to one of his knees.

"Damio! Answer me, Damio!" Jimmy shouted as he picked up their spell book.

"I... I'm ok, Jimmy!" He yelled. I was impressed that he took Spilon's attack at that range and is still able to even move. The purple-haired Mamodo regained he balance and jumped back to his partner. The boy in the tuxedo dropped his head and instantly raised it laughing proudly.

"It seems that my hunch was right. You two are strong." His book began to glow brighter than before. "We're going to have to try a bit harder. Aren't we, Damio?"

"Hey!" I called out getting their attention. The glow faded as the both looked at me. "You said your name was Jimmy Riddles. Why do you call yourself that?" He smiled and took off his top hat releasing four doves.

"Why that's simple! I am the son of the all-knowing and amazing Dr. Riddles!"

"Dr. Riddles?" I questioned

"Yes! He was also involved in the last battle for Mamodo king fifty years ago!" The strong glow that faded from his book started up again. Damio stood in front of him preparing for an attack. I reopened my book and waited untill he cast his spell to decide how to counter. Spilon clenched his fists and assumed one of his many stances.

"And in memory of my father, rest his soul, I have a riddle for you!" I looked at him for a moment. He had the biggest smile I had ever seen on a kid.

*Really? We're in the middle of a battle and he wants to tell a riddle?!*

"Riddle number 1: Of all the numbers on my face. You wont find thirteen anyplace!" He help up his index finger indicating it was the first, but not last, of many more. I closed my eyes and rested my chin on my fist as I thought of what the answer could be. I looked at Spilon who had his eyes closed and his arms folded. That certain vein on his head gotten bigger. Now that I think about it I was never really good at stuff like this.

"A clock." I opened my eyes after hearing the familiar voice. Looking to my right I saw Allissia and Tali walking up next to me.

"That's the answer. Correct?" She said in her natural smug tone. Even thought it bugged me that she talked like that I've learned to live with it. The top of the young boys hat opened with a small explosion of tiny flags, confetti, and fanfare playing in the background.

"That's correct! A clock has a face with the numbers one through twelve but not thirteen!"

"Genrai!" Spilon's eyes shot open and fired the blue beam of electricity at jimmy. He used his uncanny speed to dodge the blast. "Genrai!" He fired again but still he dodged. "Genraiga!" Spilon held out his hand and fired the concentrated beam of electricity.

"Whoa! What are you doing?! I'm not done with my riddles!" I closed my eyes and clenched the spell book almost bending its spine.

"I DON'T CARE!" I screamed. The battlefield had grown silent. When I opened my eyes everyone was giving me a surprised look. Allissia, Tali, Jimmy, Damio, even Spilon.

"Look. I came to battle. Not to see your lame party tricks." Damio was signaling me to stop talking, but I ignored it. "Or hear your stupid riddles!" Right then something in Jimmy snapped. The look in his eye, his attitude, even the way he spoke. He removed his top hat and tossed it to the side. The glow from his book exploded in to a purple that engulfed the two of them. The immense power that he was exuding was shattering the earth beneath them.

"Fine. You want a battle? You got one. Ready Damio?" He looked down at his partner. He had a sort of concerned look on his face. Almost... scared.

"You see that, Allissia?" Tali asked. The brunette nodded and reached into her bag she kept her spell book in. Before she could remove it I grabbed her arm.

"Oh no! This is my battle! You two just stay back!" She smiled at me.

*What is she smiling about?*

"As you wish. Tali and I wont interfere." I let go of her arm and her and Tali walked back about forty feet. They sat down on a nearby bench and watched.

"I hope you didn't forget about us!" I turned around to the voice. The great power he was emitting was only getting stronger. He was a completely different person from before. He still hadn't opened his book. I guess he didn't need to.

"Rusenga!" Damio's hands began to cover themselves with the same metallic coating and after the coating set, both of his hands grew into large metal claws.

"That spell again? Easy. Genraiga!" Spilon fired the beam only to be stopped by one of Damio's metal claws.

"What?!"

"We're not done yet! Rushiruga!" Damio jumped into the air and pointed his claws towards us. The tips of the metal claws began to fire with incredible speed.

"Raishield!" I jumped behind Spilon as the static blue aura created a shield. After the firing stopped the area around us was covered by the metal spikes.

"Ganjas Rushiruga!" Damio landed in front of us and began to repeatedly penetrate the ground with the razor-sharp claws. The ground began to rumble and shake. Suddenly an enormous metal spike as razor-sharp as his claws shot out of the ground. I was barely able to move quick enough. I was lucky it only tore my shirt and not my skin. One spike after another began to appear. Spilon, quickly grabbing me, evaded each one by an inch. After he put me down I felt my body to make sure everything was still intact. Spilon seemed to be alright as well. This was new.

*To think this guy was hiding all this power. I wonder why Damio looked so scared before.* I looked at Damio who still had that scared look. He was crying now. Why?

"Damio! I'm going to use that spell!" Jimmy shouted as he turned the page of the purple book, increasing the intensity of the glow. The scared Mamodo removed his claws which caused the large spikes to retract. He looked back at his human partner.

"No, Jimmy!" He shouted as the tears poured from his eyes. "No more spells. No more fighting!" Jimmy looked at the crying child as if he had woken up from a trance. Going on impulse I walked over to them with Spilon following close behind. As I passed Damio I realized why he was so scared.

"You don't like fighting. Do you?" I asked. He shook his head and wiped his eyes.

"I thought so." Looking up at Jimmy I noticed that he was calm again. I handed my book to Spilon and walked closer to Jimmy.

"Look, Jimmy. I can tell Damio isn't much of a fighter. At least not as much as most Mamodo." Jimmy scratched the back of his head as he picked up his top hat. It had flown off when he started emitting that amazing power. He brushed the dust and dirt off and placed it back atop his head. I watched as he walked over to Damio.

"That much I knew already." He said wiping the young Mamodo's eyes. "I thought that if he fought more battles he would get used to it. I guess we're not quite there yet." They both looked at each other as if they knew what each other was thinking. With a nod the both started to walk in the opposite direction.

"Wait! What about our battle!" I yelled. He simply lifted his hand and waved.

"Don't worry! We will meet again!" I shrugged my shoulders , took the book from Spilon. And walked over to. Allissia.

I walked through the door to find my mom doing her usual thing, cleaning.

"Well hey there stranger." She said looking over at me. Without a single warning I ran over and hugged her as tight as humanly possible. "Goodness whats this about?" She said returning the hug.

"Mom there is some one I want you to meet." I went back outside and told Allissia to come inside.

After introducing herself and my mom doing the usual mom thing. Baby pictures, embarrassing stories, past girlfriends, and so on. She invited her and Tali to stay for dinner.

It was well past midnight when we left. Me and Allissia decided to walk back. Spilon and Tali took the limousine.

"That was nice." I looked up to see Allissia smiling. "I was hoping to meet your mother sooner or later. She's really nice"

"Yeah. It was." This had been quite day. Starts off with a battle not going the way we wanted. Then A letter from a weird kid in a top hat and his even weirder Mamodo changeling Spilon and I. An epic battle and topping it all off, Allissia meeting my mother. This battle for king sure has its perks.

A.N. Well I finally managed to upload the next chapter. Not having my own computer really sucks. It wont be long until our main characters get to the main villain in this saga. Just work with me and it will be totally worth it!
