Chapter 22
CoCo opened her eyes. Sleepily, she whispered, "Who?"
The soldier smiled and offered her his hand to help out of her bed. "It would ruin the surprise if I told you. You're just gonna hafta see for yourself."
CoCo slowly eased herself out of bed, with the help of the soldier. He escorted her to the throne room. CoCo saw lots of debris on the way there. The SHC had been hit pretty hard. They arrived at the large wooden doors of the throne room. The soldier opened the door and CoCo stepped inside. There, she saw her sister and Conker. And the man she loved. She thought she was dreaming. Her heart skipped a beat and her knees nearly gave out from underneath her. She was so happy to see him.
"Krip!" she screeched, a tear rolling down her eye. She ran towards him and he ran towards her. She jumped into his arms and their lips interlocked. They shared a long, passionate kiss. Everybody else in the throne room couldn't help but feel sentimental. It was such a sweet sight.
Kriplespac looked into CoCo's teary eyes. He ran his fingers through her hair. "You have no idea how much I missed you. I vas so angry vhen I found out zat you vere taken from me. I vanted to destroy everybody. I might have very vell killed everybody in zis base had it not been for Conker's brave decision to surrender."
Conker blushed when his named was mentioned. "Oh, it was nothing really," he said, being modest.
CoCo smiled and brushed Kriplespac's cheeck with her finger. "Why did you lie to me?" she suddenly said.
"Entshuldigung?" Kriplespac responded.
"How come you never told me who your enemy really was? And why didn't you kill me? I'm a Squirrel, and you thought I was a spy, remember? Why did you spare me?"
"Because," Kriplespac said. "You were naive and I zought I could use you to my advantage. I planned to conduct lots of experiments on you. Since you had no idea vhat vas going on and you had blind loyalty for me, I could turn you against your own kind. But I never got around to it."
"Why?"
"Because..."Kriplespac sighed and look straight into her eyes. "Because I vas distracted. You were so charming and you made me feel special. I fell in love vith you. You cared about me. Before zen, I felt zat nobody could ever care about me, except for my Tediz. But zat is because zey are a creation of mine. I'm zeir daddy, so to say. But you vere not somezing I created. You had a mind of your own. And you loved me. Even zough you are a Squirrel. I couldn't comprehend it. It vas nozing zat I had ever felt before. I have been running around killing people for too long. It is finally time zat I settle down..."
CoCo did not know what to say. Hearing all this was such a big punch in the face for her.
"Do you hate me?" Kriplespac asked her.
"No, I don't hate you," CoCo said with a half smile.
"Vould you still have loved me if I told you ze truth from ze start?"
"I can't say," CoCo said. "There is no telling what could have happened. But it doesn't matter. We're here together and that is all I care about. I love you, Krip. I don't regret anything. You're the only man I could ever hope to share the rest of my life with. I love you so goddamn much..." With that, she pulled Krip in closer for a kiss. She wrapped her tongue around his. He playfully wrestled with her tongue, delivering a pleasant sensation for the both of them. The kiss hungrily got more aggressive. They were really getting at it. But then, it died back down to the point where they were softly brushing each other's lips. Krip held on to her lips for a couple seconds and slowly pulled away from her face. CoCo blushed and smiled.
The other people watching them felt a little awkward. Conker cleared his throat. "Um, hey guys. I hate to break the tender moment, but shouldn't we go get this truce thing done and over with."
"Ach, ja, of course," Kriplespac agreed, a small blush on his face. He got out a piece of paper. The peace treaty. He signed it and gave it to Conker. Conker did likewise.
"Cool, this war is officially over!" Conker exclaimed. "We should have a party!"
CoCo eyes widened at the word party. "Yeah! I know! We should celebrate with me and Krip getting married!"
Everyone in the room was silent for a moment. Then they all cheered. They liked the idea. Everybody scattered to make wedding arrangements. Kriplespac and CoCo walked hand in hand.
"So," Krip said with a smile. "I'm gonna be a daddy, huh?"
CoCo batted her eyelashes at him and snuggled into his chest. "Yes," she sighed, dreamily. "Isn't it wunderbar?"
"Sehr wunderbar!" Kriplespac exclaimed. He was very excited. He kissed her head and they walked out onto the battlefield. There they saw Tediz and Squirrels mingling with each other. Some were even drinking beer together. They had all forgotten their differences. It was a beautiful sight.
