Slade smiled with pleasure from beneath his mask. The two bird boys were chained down to the dimensional oscillator. It was a very clever design, Slade was quite pleased with himself. The oscillator was comprised of two chairs, back to back to eachother attached to a spinning axis. When activated, it would spin at ridiculously high speeds that probably broke a few gs. Slade wasn't certain, it didn't matter. He just knew that it had to go fast enough to work. If it meant blinding the Robins in the process, wonderful, he'd have killed two birds with one stone.
"You're never gonna get away with this!" The spiky-haired Titans one bellowed, pointlessly fighting against the bonds.
"Yea, you were pretty dumb to try and tie us up," The other one, the 'young' one concerned with justice added.
"Really boys? You think so?" Slade asked slyly, walking so that his back was to them; he was facing all of his screens on which ran seemingly pointless streams of binary and assorted views of the battles going on in both universes.
"You two don't even know the full extent of my plans." Slade added, hands behind his back. Yes, much better. The more dramatic I come off as, the more scared they'll be.
"You want to force us to switch bodies so that we shatter the universe," The young one said snarkily. Slade flinched, thankful for his all-obscuring mask.
"How very perceptive of you Robin, yes, you're quite right. I do plan on using the power of your body switch to force the worlds together." Slade said coolly, pretending like he already knew that Robin knew.
"You will not succeed!" Starfire shouted from the cell where Slade had the Robin's 'sweethearts' chain up. He'd forgotten about them, he'd been so caught up in the moment. He really had to work on that… Regardless, the space princess and the magical girl were both chained to the wall and weren't going anywhere. He'd taken Zatanna as extra incentive in case Starfire wasn't enough to lure both Robins. Apparently though only one type of seed was needed to bring these birds to his garden.
"Starfire!" Both Robin's shouted at once looking left and right like a complete pair of buffoons. When they finally figured out that the girl cage was to the direct left of them, or right in Titan Robin's case, their inane chatter became so much more agitated.
"Mmmm!" Zatanna said, muffled through the gag tied firmly around her mouth. Slade wasn't going to have her saying any spells. For that same reason Starfire had some very nice green-lense over her eyes; no laser beams getting through that glass.
"Zatanna! are you guys all right?" The younger Robin demanded, apparently more concerned about the damsels than his eminent world-destruction.
"We are fine Robin and Robin. Slade has not hurt us." Starfire confirmed grimly.
Really now? Slade thought, unimpressed. He never really understood deep-felt emotions like friendship or any of that, but he would have liked a better 'I'm all right' then that. He wanted tears, admittances of true love, that sort of thing. Granted, she and the bird boy were ridiculously slow moving Well, too bad. They were out of time.
"If you don't mind my interrupting this… lovely little reunion I'm afraid I'd like to begin." Slade said, stepping toward the controls to the oscillator.
"Your mad Slade! If you set us off then you'll be destroyed too! Or mixed with the other universes counterpart or worse!" Titan Robin shouted, defiant as ever. Honestly this boy was predictable.
"Really now Robin, did you think that I hadn't considered that? What do you think this secret base we're in now is for? I had the witch boy enchant it for me. This is the only place in the entirety of both universes that is safe from the dimensional collapse." Slade replied coolly, boy he loved this game. Acting like he was on top, confusing and tricking Robin- it really was the stuff worth living for. "As it stands now, only myself, and these lovely ladies will be entirely unaffected by the merging of worlds."
"I would rather die!" Starfire shouted, trying to fight her bonds.
"Oh but where would the fun be in that Starfire?" Slade asked. Starfire flashed her eyes livid green in response, not that they were very visible under the star-trek inspired visor.
"Now, shall we? I have a new world to build," Slade said pushing a very tactically placed red button.
The oscillator rose up through the domed ceiling, taking the boys clean out of sight. Once the window in the ceiling closed, a whoosh-whoosh sound could be heard as the machine started up. Slade chuckled with pleasure as he looked across the viewing screens. The magical circles were falling; what little reinforcements the boys had brought to the titan world was futile, there simply were not enough magicians left standing to maintain the circle. On another screen he could see the two boys desperately using all of their laughable Bat-training to try and get their way out of the oscillator chairs all the while the oscillator span faster and faster.
"it's just a matter of time now," Slade murmured, intentionally loud enough for the girls to hear.
"That is where you are wrong!" Starfire said from a range that was much too close to be right. Slade turned around to earn himself a green-fist in the face.
"Nice one!" Zatanna said having somehow gotten the gag off. The girls? How had they escaped? No matter, he could easily overpower them. And even if he didn't, there was no hope for the universes now.
"You will undo what you have done!" Starfire said firmly, pinning Slade to the wall.
"Now Starfire, I'm afraid you and I both know that that isn't an option." Slade replied wickedly.
"Wrong answer." Zatanna said stepping up beside Starfire. The witch girl held up both hands and, drat, started a spell, "Nrut llaw otni sgnidnib!"
Instantly the metal structure around him bent and wrapped about his body, pinning him securely in place against the wall like some sort of bizarre cocoon.
"You're too late girls," Slade said cruelly, knowing it would just antagonize them.
"There's no such thing as too late." Zatanna replied, "Now I'd gag you too but I figure you need those holes in your mask to breathe. Be thankful I'm in a good mood."
"Aren't you a wicked witch,"
Starfire and Zatanna exchanged glances and then laughed.
"Oh but she is the most wicked of the witches!" Starfire said firmly.
"Cause I'm the witch who's after her ruby-clad boyfriend thank you," Zatanna said pointing one finger at the ceiling and shouting, "tsalb eloh ni gniliec!" Then Starfire picked up the 'wicked' witch and flew through the hole, apparently she couldn't afford flying monkeys, Slade thought to himself dryly wondering how long it would be before he could get one of his robot servants to free him from the wall.
They would never succeed. Anyone who's ever even heard of the Wizard of Oz knows that the Wicked Witch never does get her ruby slippers. Dorothy does.
