He watched me cautiously, not approaching. I watched him, then stared down at my hands, not sure what to say to him. I was still getting over that bout of anger that I had never felt before in my life. I put my shaky hands in my lap and looked back up at him.
"Hey." I said quietly.
He didn't move any closer. "How are you feeling?"
"Weird, but better." I continued to talk quietly.
"This is a containment room. They said you'll be able to leave in a few hours. Just have to observe you a bit longer, make sure the injection worked." His voice was low and that scared me.
"It feels like it worked." Except for that strange amount of anger. I didn't understand where that came from.
"It looks like it did. But they said your emotions were stripped pretty bare, so you might have episodes of emotional instability or something." He rolled his eyes.
That explained my burst of anger. "Oh." I blinked. "How long will that last?"
"They don't know." He sighed.
I bit my lip, Ichigo wasn't looking at me. "Is there something you're not telling me?"
He looked at me finally, then down again. "What's the last thing you remember?"
"Talking to Rukia, and then blacking out."
"You…uh….attacked her." He fidgeted uncomfortably. "You totally lost it and attacked her. At that point she'd already contacted Soul Society so they got to us in time before you could do…anything."
"Is she hurt?" I stared hard at him.
"Yes." He finally took a step towards me. I flinched.
"How badly?" I growled at him.
"She's being treated right now." He looked at me. "It's not your fault, just rest until we leave."
My eyes filled with tears, but I had looked down before Ichigo could see. I swallowed a few times before I spoke. "I think I'll just sleep."
"Okay." I heard him walk out and the door shut.
I curled up into a tight ball and pulled my blanket over my head. I just laid there and cried silently for the time I was stuck in there. I just stayed like that until I heard the door open, then I sucked in a deep breath and wiped my face clean of any emotion. I felt the blanket get pulled off and someone pulled me up to my feet. It wasn't Ichigo. I was confused. I couldn't tell who it was, they put something over my head to keep me blinded. I just walked along obediently, fighting off the rising panic. What were they doing?
"Here she is." The person guiding me said. "Do not take this off until you have reached the World of the Living."
"Why not?" Ichigo sounded harsh.
"Security reasons. And she's still weak." I got thrown forward, and I stumbled, and caught by more gentle arms.
Ichigo just sighed and then suddenly growled. "Is it really necessary to send those two back with us?"
"Again, security reasons."
He just made a sound of irritation, and then I felt his other arm behind my knees and one moved behind my shoulders and he lifted me up. I stayed limp, not sure what else to do. I knew he was walking because of the rocking motion. I didn't say a word and neither did he. He just walked in silence. After a few minutes, he sped up to a light jog. I clung to the front of Ichigo's clothes as he worked up to a faster pace. After a minute, he sat me down on my feet and yanked the black cloth off my head. I noticed it was night time.
"Can you walk?" He asked me.
I tried to take a step, but my leg wobbled too much so I just sighed helplessly. Ichigo sighed too and lifted me into his arms. He started walking and I just closed my eyes, waiting to get back to his house. I heard whispers behind us, but I didn't bother trying to identify the voices. I didn't see the point. I just listened to Ichigo's footsteps, up until I heard a door open, then my eyes flew open and I noticed we were inside and going upstairs. He went to my room first and put me in my body, then went to his room and then returned a few minutes later in his body. He quietly shut the door, and flicked on the lamp, and then he came and sat by me on the bed. He put an arm around my shoulders.
"Are you going to be okay?" He asked, then suddenly winced. "Wait forget that. That was stupid."
I looked at him. "It's fine. I'll be okay eventually."
He sighed. "It's over. It'll get better."
We both thought that now, but he didn't know how wrong he was.
a/n: Apologies for the ultra short last chapter, but this felt right to end it. I will be working on the sequel now. I hope you enjoyed this story and I hope you'll read the next one! Reviews please.
