A/N: I realize that I was expected to update this story sometime in June, but that was a very misleading comment on my part. My apologies, life got in the way. Re-reading (or more like skimming) this story again, I realized exactly how…. Mediocre my writing was. I'm sure that this time I'll be better, believe it! Half of this was written about half a year ago, so bear with me until I get into the flow of things, kay? I promise that next chapter will be much better.
...
"Neji. Come into my office for a moment." Hiashi waved him in.
"Hai, Hiashi-sama."
When the door clicked to a close, Hiashi turned the lock, looking at his nephew, walking around to his desk. "Neji, you have been working very hard... And I wish to reward you for your actions."
Neji's face donned a look of surprise. "T-thank you, Hiashi-sama."
"I wish to place you as the head of Hyuuga Enterprises."
The younger man stared in disbelief. "But, Hina-"
"I did not mean any time soon, so we have time to persuade your cousin into giving up her title," Hiashi continued, standing from his desk chair, and towards the window. "Come, Neji, take a look at this city."
He stood, obeying the order, following him to the window. "Our family has always been in business. Ever since Konoha began, the Hyuuga were there. We are the base of this city, and we are to help in it's prosperity," Hiashi turned to look at Neji with a last sentence, "and to ensure this prosperity, you will marry Sabaku no Temari of the Sand Incorporated."
The younger Hyuuga's eyes widened. "Hiashi-sama-"
"Is there any complaint with my decision?"
Neji pursed his lips. "Why her? And marriage? Why go th-"
"This is a great way to increase trade between our companies, and cities. You will marry that woman."
He sighed. Then, remembered Tenten. "Hiashi-sama... I have a girlfriend."
"Then enjoy your last twelve months with her, because in a year from now, I'm marrying you off."
Hiashi escorted him out of the office. "Good day, Neji."
...
The walk to the café where he usually had lunch was cold and lonely. What was he going to tell Tenten? Wait… Why does he care? They don't actually care about one another, it doesn't matter anyways. A hand slid into his silky black locks in deep thought. "What the hell is wrong with me?"
Neji didn't notice the brunette boy chasing after him on the sidewalk. "Neji!" he called, having been sprinting his way from the mall that was a good three kilometres away from where they now stood. The tousled brown hair, red marks on his cheek, sweatpants and adidas sneakers, he was a great contrast to the prim and pampered Hyuuga male.
"Oi Hyuuga!" he cried out, panting as he finally grabbed the collar of his suit. The male's white orbs widened at the sudden grip on his clothing, grabbing the male's arm and twisting it behind his back violently. "Release me," he growled.
"Owowow, that hurts! Quit! I just have a message from Tenten!" Kiba cried out, wincing as his arm felt like it was being ripped out of the socket of his shoulder.
The Hyuuga's cool gaze melted slightly, sighing deeply. "Very well. What is it?"
The Inuzuka smiled at Neji, thanking him for not making him follow him too far. "She's going to be doing overtime, so she won't get home for a while."
Neji grimaced. "Very well. She does know that we are to go to her apartment for the following week?"
Kiba nodded, hastily adding, "Oh, yeah! She said something about not going there because it was a pain in the ass and her neighbours will probably keep you guys up with their unrelenting sex all night."
The long haired male nodded once to show that he understood, smiling slightly. "I see. Thank you… How are you friends with Tenten anyways?"
The Inuzuka smiled widely, a toothy and childish grin spread across his features. "Glad to see that you care, Hyuuga," he teased. "We're buddies. We go back. Our parents used to set us up for little play dates since we were neighbours. I was her prom date," he snickered. "It all went well until she tripped during the slow dance and slammed a stiletto heel into my right big toe."
He nodded, small amused smile on his lips. "Do you think that Tenten would care if I were to tell her that I was supposed to get married to another woman?"
"Ah, that is a question that only one person can answer for ya," the boy sighed, blowing his brown bangs out of his eyes. "Tenten."
A sigh was released from the rich boy's lips. Now what?
