23: Mirth- happiness or enjoyment, especially accompanied by laughter
The Doctor looked up from what he was doing and looked at River. They were in the living room, him completing a 55th century crossword puzzle and her reading a book. When she noticed him looking, she smiled, receiving a smile from him in return. They each went back to what they were doing. A few minutes later River looked up from her book to smile at the Doctor. He smiled at her and again went back to his crossword. Not thirty seconds later they both looked up and smiled at each other, beginning to laugh.
"What's so funny?" the Doctor said, laughing.
"I don't know. We both seem to be in quite a good mood today."
The laughter eventually stopped and they sat looking at each other. Then they smiled and started laughing again, unable to help themselves but not being sure why.
"Come here," the Doctor said between fits of laughter, getting up from his chair and holding out his hand. "I want to show you something."
They ran together to the console room and the Doctor spun her around the center console, laughing and twirling the entire time. He pulled a few levers and pushed a few buttons, landing the TARDIS with the brakes on like usual.
"Right this way, my lady!" He took her hand, opened the doors, and allowed River to step outside first.
"What's this?" she asked as he exited their ship behind her.
"That," he exclaimed, pointing, "is the sun of the Cratonnion Galaxy. It stands for mirth and laughter and it's a very popular tourist site in the surrounding galaxies. I think it more than fits what it represents."
"It could make someone smile on their worst day," she exclaimed in awe.
It was a beautiful scene, indeed. Surrounded by stars and colored space dust, the sun of the Cratonnian Galaxy was bright yellow with darker yellow spots randomly surfacing and shooting out from its front. The Doctor took his wife's hand and sat down cross-legged on the comet they had landed on, River following suit. They looked at each other and smiled, their good mood evident on their features. Out of nowhere they started laughing again, just as they had minutes before in their living room.
"Wait!" the Doctor cried, leaping up and disappearing into the TARDIS. He returned mere moments later with two glasses. Handing one to River and keeping the other for himself, he sat back down again.
"What's this?" River asked with an amused laugh.
"Apple juice! Nothing is complete without some good old apple juice to jog your brain. Take a sip, you'll see what I mean."
She was about to inform him of the fact that she has had apple juice before when instead she went with it and happily took a sip.
They looked back up at the sun of the Cratonnian Galaxy and smiled. It represented just what her life was with the Doctor- while things may be hectic, he brings happiness, joy, and laughter, in the end.
