A/N: This one is probably a younger Doctor, for him to have done the thing that River is angry about. But still post-TWORS. Enjoy! : )

29: River- a female character on Doctor Who, married to the Doctor. Daughter of Amy and Rory Pond/Williams. Raised to kill the Doctor but fell in love with him instead

"River…" he trailed off, staring at her stern look across the console. She was irritated at him because he had locked her in a broom closet while a bomb exploded outside. He had never done that before, left her behind. He had done it with other companions, but never with River. He knew her to be an equal match to him and had always liked to have her opinion during an adventure or even just to have her around, comfort through familiarity. But this time he had locked her in a room far from where he knew the bomb would be as he worked to undo its wires before it detonated. She knew that he would only have done what he did as an absolute last resort, when he expected to be killed, but she didn't care. If he was going to die, she would be right there with him. And, rightfully so, she was angry.

"What? What else could you have to say to me?"

"River…" The Doctor gave a soft smile, staring at his angered wife.

"What?"

"Your name." The corners of his mouth twitched a bit, his smile growing bigger.

"Yeah, that's always been my name. What's so funny?"

"Do you have any idea what it means?"

"A body of water. Doctor, this has nothing to do with-"

"No. Well, yes, but no. Do you have any idea the value of your name? To me?"

"Doctor," River began, thinking he was just trying to change the subject in order to make her less angry at him.

"River- the most beautiful name in the universe. To everyone else, it means a body of water, yes, but to me it means so much more. It means love and hope and life. It symbolizes our marriage, it symbolizes you. You, who can make me see reason or make me laugh. You, who made me love again. A river carries the weight of the ocean and still flows with grace and kindness but holds a wild tide in the middle. River- that name can change my emotion in two seconds flat. It'll never again mean the same thing in my mind. It will always be you. You and your beautiful self."

Maybe he would have gone on longer, but she had closed the distance between them and stopped his talking with a firm kiss.
