"You've become stronger," He tells her. "It is a pleasant surprise."

Sakura just stares in shock.

"I remember you used to chase me... although you still are sort of doing that, but not really anymore, are you?" He says with a faraway look. "I think it's good that you've become stronger and that emotions aren't clouding your actions as much as they used to."

"Sasuke-kun..." She starts but stops. She feels unsure of what to say.

"I am not right for you, Sakura." He tells her directly. His voice is serious. His face is calm. "And you know that, don't you, Sakura?"

She is frozen.

"I don't want you, Sakura." He says and she feels like she was cut. Because it hurts. He doesn't relent. He continues to speak, "I am saying this for your own good. Because I believe you deserve better."

"B-Better?" She chokes out.

He nods his head, glancing briefly into her eyes before looking away. "You deserve someone who feels the love you long for. I do not feel that way for you and I suspect I won't ever."

"Shouldn't I get to decide what is right for me!?" She asks but her voice is soft and tears are beginning to form on her eyes.

"I am your friend, Sakura." He says then, "As friends, I feel I should at least let you know when something is futile—when you're doing something that is working against you."

She is quiet then. Words have failed her.

"Naruto loves you, but if you choose not to pick him as a life partner, that is your decision. There are many other guys out there—

She leaves then. She does not want to listen anymore. The tears in her eyes are threatening to fall and she does not want to stay. She does not want him to see her cry.

He told her that he thought she was strong but all she feels right now is weak.

He does not stop her.
