Hate not Thy Brother
[For dogs are all around me;
a company of evildoers encircles me.
My hands and feet have shriveled;
I can count all my bones.
They stare and gloat over me;
they divide my clothes among themselves,
and for my clothing they cast lots.
But you, O Lord, do not be far away!
O my help, come quickly to my aid!
Deliver my soul from the sword,
my life from the power of the dog!
Save me from the mouth of the lion!]
Teito, of course, was familiar with the fact that time passed by more quickly when he didn't want it to. It seemed as if there were only a mere thirty seconds contained in a single minute, and because of such, it came as a complete surprise to the brunette when he glanced at the clock in his dorm and it displayed the numbers 4:45.
"Crap…" Teito muttered. Mikage heard him and glanced up from the Barsburg history book Teito had forced him to read for one of their classes—which had resulted in Mikage pouting and calling Teito his mother. Nonetheless, he was still reading it.
"What is it, Teito?" Mikage began to shut the book, but a sharp jade glare from Teito stopped him in his tracks.
Teito sighed. "I have detention starting at five today. I'll be back at seven…" He scratched the back of his head, irritated that he was being forced to do this. Shuri, at the very least, should have received some form of reprimand as well.
"Oh, that sucks. Well, I'll have some great yakisoba bread ready for you when you get back!" And with that, Mikage saw Teito off with as bright a grin as ever. He pushed the smaller boy out of the cramped room and into the even less impressive hallway of their dorm, then promptly shut the door on him. Teito was slightly confused at Mikage's urgency to get him out, but then he realized what the blonde was really planning.
"You had better be finished all the way through chapter five when I get back!" Teito called through the closed door. He heard no response from Mikage.
Sighing once again, Teito made his way through the hallway, down a few flights of stairs and into the courtyard. He passed by a few cliques that were scattered about, and a few of them dropped their voices when Teito passed, as if they were scared he would overhear them even though he already knew they were talking about him.
He retraced his and Ayanami's steps from earlier that afternoon, and sooner than he would've liked, he was standing in front of the large door that was the only barrier separating him and the vice principal. Taking a deep breath to calm himself—saying Ayanami unnerved the younger boy was an absolute understatement—he picked up the knocker to bang it on the golden door. But before he could do so, the door flung open, bringing Teito along with it as the knocker was still firmly in his grip. He saw a flash of white and immediately after, he felt pain in his forehead.
"Shit, that hurt…" Teito mumbled, trying to pick himself up from the fall—but before he could, he realized his situation. In that terrible series of happenings, he had somehow landed on top of Vice Principal Ayanami—his legs entangled in the other's longer pair—splayed across his chest.
Teito's eyes widened to an enormous extent, a full white ring forming around bright green. He opened his mouth to say something, but as he stared into those freezing violet irises, all words escaped him. He was petrified by that gaze, and only Ayanami could release him from it. Teito briefly noticed beyond his shock that this was the first time he'd fully seen the vice principal's full face; his idiotic hat had been knocked off in the process of Teito slamming into him.
"Teito Klein."
Teito flinched atop the older man. "Sir, I can—"
Ayanami narrowed his eyes, effectively silencing the brunette. "You are exactly eleven seconds late. You will, in turn, be staying here for eleven minutes longer than the originally planned time." At his words, Teito's eyelids returned to their normal place as he tried to contemplate what Ayanami had just said.
Seconds for minutes? You've got to be joking. That means if I'm a minute late, I'll have to stay for another hour! Even though his thoughts were as such, he nodded stiffly and then resumed peeling himself off the larger man's chest.
"So…Sir, what do you want me to do first?" Teito asked, looking around the room. It looked clean, as expected. He didn't take Ayanami as anything but the overly-cleanly and organized type.
Ayanami stood up with the dignity of a king and turned around to walk back to his desk. "For now," he began, sitting down at his large desk, "you'll tell me about yourself, Teito Klein. Because it is you and, for a reason yet unknown to me, only you that has no background information on your application letter to Barsburg Private Academy. Of course, the principal is the one that deals with these application letters, but I am given copies to file and keep on record." He narrowed his eyes, chilling Teito. "Please, take a seat, Teito Klein."
Teito promptly scurried over to the same chair he'd sat in earlier that day and made himself as comfortable as he could be with Ayanami's stare seeming like it could burn through his skin to see straight into his soul. But if he could do that, he wouldn't need to ask Teito about his life prior to the academy, now would he?
"First, I would like to ask you about that peculiar scar you have on your back." Ayanami interlocked his fingers, propped his elbows up on the desk and rested his chin on his hands. In turn, he emitted an even more terrifying aura than he had just a few moments before. Teito gulped.
"It's not that important, Sir…"
"I would not like for a student to inform me of what is important and what is not. Now, Teito Klein, if you do not wish to be here for an additional hour, answer my question." His voice resonated cold harshness; Teito couldn't do anything but reply in full truth.
Well, he left out the parts he didn't even allow his mind to wander through.
For a few moments of silence after Teito finished, Ayanami sat, seemingly content with making Teito uncomfortable under the weight of his gaze. Then, he finally parted his pale lips to speak. "Why did you transfer to Barsburg National Private Academy?"
Teito blinked. He hadn't expected another question right off the bat—wouldn't Ayanami have something to say? Something to add, as he sneered at his misfortune? Nonetheless, he answered hesitantly as if the question were a trap, "To get through a top-grade school to raise my chances in success at life…Sir." He clenched his fists at his thighs. What the hell are you even saying, idiot…?!
"It would be helpful if you would tell me the absolute truth to begin with, Teito Klein." Of course, Ayanami's expression didn't falter. Teito gulped.
Why is it even important if a lowly student like me doesn't have background information…?
But even as doubts began to cloud his mind, he replied, "Because…I wanted to get away from my current parents. And…they didn't accept anything less than the best, so when I got a full scholarship to one of the best schools in the country, they were so happy to see me go. But…" He broke his gaze with Ayanami; he felt that he'd lose himself if he stared at the vice principal any longer. "But they were happy for all the wrong reasons. And this school has a dorm and everything, so…"
Again, Ayanami didn't reply to Teito's statement, but railed off another question. "What is your oldest recollection of your life?"
At that, Teito felt his own eyes narrow slightly. What was so important about the past, anyway? He wouldn't have been accepted if not having background information mattered all that much. "Vice Principal, I—"
"Do not make me extend your time, Teito Klein."
Teito felt his eyebrows draw together in a mixture of irritation and confusion. "Why are you asking me these things?" Not wanting to stop with such a feeble question, Teito continued to voice his thoughts. "The principal wouldn't have accepted me if my not having any background information mattered as much as you're making it out to be, right? And I'm not a delinquent or anything, so you don't have to worry about me causing troub—" Teito froze.
Oh, that's it.
Ayanami closed his eyes—allowing the chilly atmosphere to dissipate for a moment—and smirked. "So you finally get it, Teito Klein. Your earlier stunt is unacceptable in this academy. I want to make sure you won't cause trouble like that again in the future, but…" He paused, then slowly raised his eyelids to effectively trap Teito in his violet gaze. "Your record isn't looking too exemplary, as of now." Smirk still present, he added, "So, shall we continue?"
Teito clenched his fists even tighter. This bastard… "My oldest memory is…" Teito blinked in temporary obliviousness. "Oldest…memory…" Now that he put thought to it, everything that had happened before his time with his "father" was a blur. Faces of unnamed people smeared with the ones next to it, and each bit of scenery he could imagine seemed to flicker and change with every little twitch of his eyes. "I…don't…" He bent forward, suddenly feeling another headache coming on. He brought a hand to his head and pressed his fingers to his temple. "I can't…remember…"
Though Teito couldn't see it, Ayanami's smirk disappeared. "You don't remember anything before the branding, Teito Klein?" His deadly monotonous voice had no effect on Teito while he was fighting the pounding pain in his skull, but he shook his head slightly from side to side nonetheless.
"Nothing…"
Teito forced his head up to meet Ayanami's glare. "Think harder, Teito Klein. Or I'll make you remember."
The small brunette didn't know what to make of Ayanami's words, so he simply sat, his entire consciousness focused on the constant ache in his head.
After a handful of moments of silence as such, with jade glaring into lavender and vice versa, Ayanami rose from his desk. "Well, I assume that's your answer."
Before the smaller male knew what was happening, he was on the floor once again, only this time he was under the vice principal. He couldn't completely contemplate what was going on in his current state, and stunned, he tried to apologize and get up from under the larger man. But Ayanami grasped both his hands in one of his, forcing them up above his head. Teito's eyes widened in sudden fear—if Ayanami was about to do what he thought…
"Maybe this will jog your memory, Teito Klein," he said, and with that his free hand wandered towards Teito's crotch area to undo his belt with oddly precise skill, then fluidly rip it from his uniform and bind Teito's wrists with the sturdy material. Throughout all of this, all the small brunette could do was try to kick at Ayanami—groin, gut, anything his knees could hit—but it proved futile as Ayanami pinned Teito's thighs to the cold tile floor with a leg.
"Vice…Prin…cipal…" Teito grunted; his vision was blurring, and the red pain behind his eyes was increasing with each movement of either his or Ayanami's.
Ayanami looked down at Teito, his cool mask returned to his face, before bending down to latch his fingers around the pale neck presented to him. Teito froze. Was Ayanami planning to kill him...?
But his thoughts were rejected as Ayanami bent lower still, until Teito could feel each cool breath of the vice principal's on his lips. For a moment that seemed to last for days, Teito held Ayanami's gaze, but then Ayanami did something most unexpected—he closed the distance of a few millimeters between their lips with harsh force, his grip on Teito's neck tightening ever so slightly, and jade eyes flew open in sheer bewilderment. He was too surprised to close his lips, and a slick tongue forced itself past his lips and collided with Teito's, and the sensation forced the brunette to screw his eyes shut. Slowly, but ever so surely, he remembered this feeling. The feeling of wanting to reject someone with all of his being, but being too weak to do so. Yes, this was that feeling.
Ayanami continued to roughly push their lips together, sliding his tongue throughout the small expanse of Teito's mouth. Teito involuntarily shuddered as he felt the slick muscle graze the sensitive roof of his mouth, and clenched his fists. And though this all felt familiar…
Something was different.
Teito could feel a strange heat developing in his stomach, and that heat continued to drop lower and lower as Ayanami worked their tongues together. It finally settled at his groin, and a continuous onslaught of shuddered wracked Teito's small frame. Ayanami finally separated their lips, narrowed eyes staring down coldly at the shivering brunette as he gasped for air.
"Remember, Teito Klein."
Teito simply lay there, finally remembering that his head was still in excruciating pain but as he was unable to clutch at it to ease the pounding, that was all he could do. He couldn't speak, either, but even if he could he didn't have any words for what had just happened. When Ayanami didn't receive a reply, he let out a long breath that could have been a sigh, but Teito couldn't tell.
"I'm sure you don't want me to go as far as your father, Teito Klein." Ayanami's calm voice amidst the chaos of Teito's conscience almost felt comforting. But if he had truly comprehended the meaning of Ayanami's words, if he had fought through the pain for even a single moment, he might have realized what was about to happen.
Icy fingers slid up past the hem of Teito's shirt, then dipped down again to scrape across his abdomen and hook onto the waistband of his uniform pants. Teito still couldn't get the taste of the older man out of his mouth, and was completely focused on how it tasted somewhat sweet while Ayanami worked. But, just before he could pull down and begin the act of breaking Teito, a knock sounded on the door.
"Hey, Ayanami, you here?"
This voice. Teito cringed as he tried to remember who it belonged to. It sounded so familiar, yet so foreign at the same time. At that moment, he realized where Ayanami's hands were, and decided to finally try to ignore the pain in his head as he writhed under the larger man, desperate to free himself. It was different than what it had been with his father, surely, but it was in no way any better.
The knock came again. "Hey, Ayanami."
Teito glanced up as he struggled to see that Ayanami was no longer looking at him—though he wouldn't let go of his grip on Teito's wrists—but staring at the large, wooden door a few feet away from the two.
"Well, I guess I have no choice but to come in and put these papers on the desk. You know, without permission."
The sarcastic edge to the man's tone gave hope to Teito as Ayanami's eyebrow quirked the tiniest bit in irritation. "Frau. I'll be with you in a moment."
Frau.
Oh, yes. His homeroom teacher, the one who had gotten mad at Teito for thinking porno mags were immoral. He blinked and felt that the waves of pain in his mind had ebbed to nothing more than a distant ache, and only a moment after he realized that, Ayanami released his wrists. Not taking anything for granted, Teito immediately sprung up from the tile and shuffled over to the opposite side of the room, clutching his hands to his chest protectively. The other man simply gave him an off-hand glance before moving towards the door. He paused there, then turned back around to fix Teito in a pale purple glare.
What? Teito mouthed, returning the glare as evenly as he could despite the humiliation that was already setting in.
But Frau didn't have the patience to wait. With a click, the door opened, and Frau entered muttering, "Don't fucking keep me waiting so long you son of a—" Electric blue eyes—so different than Ayanami's own lifeless lavenders—froze when they fell on Teito, wrists still bound, and pants slightly slipping due to the lack of support from the belt. He blinked. "Teito?"
Teito gasped when he realized what Frau must be seeing, and furiously began to try to pull his wrists apart. As he did so, Frau turned on Ayanami.
"What the hell are you doing?" he growled, and Teito looked up to see the blonde grab Ayanami by his collar. "Seriously, what are you doing to one of our students!"
"Information gathering," was Ayanami's emotionless reply.
His words were met by hot fury from Frau, but he didn't say anything more. He shoved Ayanami away, who quickly regained his balance and readjusted his uniform, before making his way over to Teito and grabbing the brunette's wrists. "We're getting out of here Teito. Why are you here, anyway? Did he call you?"
Teito didn't meet Frau's angrily worried gaze. He couldn't. "No…I have detention for a couple weeks."
They exited the room, and Frau shut it behind them with more force than necessary. "Shit…" he muttered, placing a hand over his eyes and tilting his head back. "Well, I can't get you out of that…" He uncovered his eyes, and turned a frown in Teito's direction. "And I can't really do anything without proof. Ayanami's got status as a vice principal…he can easily get away with this even if you try to protest it. He's also got a big connection with the head honcho here, so I don't think that'll be the route to take." Frau frowned. "Anyway, let's get this off of you." He bent down to undo Teito's wrists, and when the belt came undone, he gently ran a finger over the burn marks that were revealed. "Shit, that bastard…"
But before Frau could do or say anything else, Teito ripped his hands away from his teacher, taking his belt with him. "I don't need your help," he muttered, casting his gaze to the side. "I can deal with this on my own. It's my own problem anyway." He'd barely finished his statement when Frau took hold of Teito's chin and forced the boy to look at him.
"Look, whether or not you appreciate my help or whatever you're thinking right now, I'm involved in this. And since you're one of my precious students, I can't let something like that happen to you again." He sighed. "Got it?"
Teito frowned. He didn't like having this man involved. Not at all, especially when he knew nothing about him and vice versa. He didn't like this man, to be blunt. But, having no other choice than to comply, he nodded. "Fine."
Frau grinned and let go of the brunette's chin to pat his head. "Good boy, then!"
Before he knew what was coming to him, Frau earned himself a knee to the gut, and Teito walked away from two men he knew nothing about but was almost certain he resented.
