The next few days went by pretty fast Dani had today off and Santana had to go out of town for the day for a call back for some new movie, she had been really nervous this morning before she left. She had asked Dani to come with her and be there to support her, Dani had agreed to go but that was until last night when she got a phone call from a music producer who had discovered her through the YouTube videos she had been putting up when she first moved to New York.
This came as a total surprise to the girl, she hadn't bothered with updating her channel from she met Santana, things had been a little busy but one of the producers daughters had started listening to Dani's music and he liked the style of her voice and he wanted to invite her to the studio so he could listen to her a bit more, the mention of a possible recording contract had left her completely ecstatic.
Santana talked her into going to the meeting rather than going with her to her audition. Santana left in the early hours of the morning, her goodbye with Dani was pretty brief. Dani however had nothing to do until 4pm. she sat about writing music for a few hours then she decided to go get some lunch.
She was a little sick of going to the usual places all the time so to change it up a bit she went to a little place just down the street from the apartment, she had never really noticed it before, it looked like a nice place, very cosy, really clean (which dani loved – secret clean freak!). she walked down the street and as she approached the shop she felt eyes burning the back of her head. It was a brown haired woman, Dani had never seen her before and she felt a little peculiar. The woman followed her into the shop and sat at the table behind her, Dani found this pretty creepy but she pushed it to the back of her mind as a young guy came over to take her order.
"what can I get you" Dani smiled his way being polite to the guy "what would you recommend, ive never been here before?" the guy looked at her with a massive smile " well we do quite a lot here, sandwiches, pizza, salads. Look there's a menu right there" he pointed to a little stand up triangle menu that was on the table "oh gosh I didn't even see that" Dani quickly looked over the menu " you guys do sushi! Awesome il have that then"
There was a sudden voice coming from behind her "I wouldn't if I was you, if you value the taste of sushi I really wouldn't get it out of here, you're better off with a salad or sandwiches" She looked behind her and it was the girl that was following her before she entered the shop. Dani was a little more worried now, being followed and given food advice by a complete stranger "oo..okay, em Il have the salad and a water too please" the waiter winked at her and moved off. Dani actually laughed at the guy and shook her head "He did not just hit on you did he? Hes always been a bit of a creep around pretty girls" Dani turned around to face the girl "he didn't exactly hit on me he winked at me though it was a bit weird" the girl laughed and realised Dani must have found it weird to be followed and told what to order.
" oh gosh im so sorry, my name is jade, I promise you im not a creep. It's Dani isn't it?" The girl behind her was a complete stranger, she seemed like a bit of a weirdo, Dani hated to pre-judge people but she looked like one of the hippy stoners from her old high school. She had long wavy hair and was tall-ish, she wore glasses and had the middle of her lower lip pierced, she had an sweat shirt on her that was way too big on her and a pair of baggy jeans with skater shoes. Not the usually type Dani would associate herself with
Dani looked petrified, she knew her name, no that's not creepy at all! "yeah it Is, do I need to be calling or something now?" Dani waved her phone in the air. Jade sat back in her chair "NO! I know you, well I know of you, your music on YouTube? Yeah bit of a fan I have to say!" Dani seemed generally shocked, someone knew who she was? "wow people actually watch those things eh?, i didn't think anyone watched them!" Jade jumped up and pointed at the seat across from Dani "May I?" Dani nodded and continued to listen to her talk "of course people watch your videos, don't you check up on the views? My friends and I listen to your music all the time when my friend spotted you the other week in the Broadway diner I had to come check it out for myself. That's really weird isn't it?"
Dani shook her head "I cant exactly say its weird ive done it before when I first moved here, one of the YouTube channels I used to watch, great musician, such a talent for song writing and I followed her fan blogs and when she had come over here to do a tour of like the small venues I followed her and when she was in one of the venues I stood outside with my guitar and sang one of her songs, she heard it from inside and came out to talk to me. We actually spent that whole afternoon hanging out, it was crazy!" Jade sat and listened carefully and hung off every word Dani said.
"So Dani are you signed to any record labels or anything like that?" Dani moved back in her seat to receive the plate of food that put in front of her, thankfully not by the creepy guy! "Not currently no, but I have a meeting this afternoon to talk to some guy about the possibility of signing a deal!" Jade looked so happy "OMG seriously, that's the best news ever, why is it only now your getting signed? Haven't you been in New York for a few years?"
Dani nodded and took a drink from her glass "yeah it was the reason I came here when I left home but ive had to be patient and work my way from the bottom, I wasn't expecting this as soon as it has but, this offer has come up basically out of nowhere so I'm going to grab this opportunity with both hands" Jade smiled at the passion that was clearly overflowing within Dani. "well I hope it goes well for you, I know you're going to blow them out of the water, I have to go now im due in work this afternoon, but il see you around. It was really nice meeting you" Jade got up from the table and extending her arm Dani shook her hand "it was nice meeting you too Jade." The other girl departed and Dani finished her lunch before she headed back to the apartment for a quick change and to fix her hair before heading to the studio for her meeting with the record producer.
keep a look out for Jade she will appear again - for good or for evil... well i havent quite decided but i think this story needs a little bit of drama
