I was shocked. I stared at the dead body of Sparky. Had she really been killed? I quickly dragged her behind a track of what I thought were bricks (but they could've just been stones covered in blood), and gently pulled out the arrow. The more I sat there holding her hand, the more I wanted to cry. I needed to stay strong though. If I were to survive I could not show weakness.

"I'm sorry Sparky." I sniffed. Shaking, I chocked back a sob. Sparky looked like she was sleeping. I thought she was for a moment, but then I noticed all of the blood.

Then I heard it. A hardly noticeable sound that I heard. It was like water, slowly flowing. My head jerked up and a glanced around wildly.

"Water. Oh no." I saw water starting to come in from all directions. It seemed like it was coming from nowhere, flooding the streets and making my shoes soggy. I grabbed a small knife and ran as I could away from the cornucopia. I looked at all of the buildings. They were very high up.

I froze when I heard some voices. It sounded like the careers. I ducked into an alley and didn't dare breathe. I finally decided to start moving again. I noticed that the water was already up to my ankles. That was not a good sign.

Quickly, I sloshed through the water, trying to move quietly. I chose a tall building and stepped inside of it.

I was starting to go up the stairs when I saw the careers. They pointed at me and shouted, running towards the building. My eyes widened and I started running up the stairs as fast as I could.

I heard the careers right behind me, shouting and panting. I passed a window and glanced quickly through it. The water had risen to about a foot already. I swerved around a corner, buying myself a second or two.

I saw another tribute step out of a room. I nearly tripped, but adrenilin kept me going. The tribute looked surprised, but I didn't stop to help him.

My lungs burned as I ran and ran. I glanced out the next window and gasped. The water was high enough to nearly fill the whole first floor. This was bad.

In what seemed like forever, I finally reached the top of the building. Just seconds before, I heard the other tribute scream as he was caltured by the careers. I had maybe a minute before the careers were after me again.

I made it to the roof and ran to the edge. I stopped for breathe. It was only the. when I realized I was trapped. Cornered like a piece of prey.
