"And I've brought friends."
Wakana immediately backed away, simultaneously opting a defensive position in front of Ishara.
"Oh? You wanna go first?" Wakana continued to back away, until she bumped into something. She gasped as two large hands gripped her waist. "Where do you think you're going?"
"KANGIN! SHENJI NEE-SAN! HELP!" Ishara yelled at the top of her lungs.
"Do you these two?" One of the yokai lifted the limp bodies of Kangin and Shenji. Ishara gasped and started to cry.
"Don't worry, they are not dead. Yet." The wolf laughed. He lazily motioned for the yokai to bring Wakana and Ishara forward. "Nee-san." Ishara whimpered. Wakana was squirming in the yokai's hold. If only she could reach her gun.
"Now, little miss courage here." He growled pointing to Wakana. "Has caused me a lot of trouble trouble. So before she causes any more disasters, I am going to rid the world of her presence." His claws glistened in the moonlight. "I am going to enjoy hearing you scream deary."
"NO! Please!" Ishara whimpered.
"That's what my okaa-san said too. But did that man stop?"
"Have mercy." She pleaded. The yokai just snorted in response. "I will mount your heads on my wall. And give your flesh to my most faithful servants." This aroused cheers and applause from the crowd of yokai. He raised his claw, Wakana and Ishara closed their eyes. Wakana waited and waited for the pain to strike for her senses to stop working…..but they didn't. Slowly she opened her eyes, but her brain refused to believe what her eyes had perceived. In front of her stood…Rihan. He was holding his sword to block the wolf's attack. "Just whose woman do you think you're messing with?" He asked, his voice was dangerously low. But the wolf didn't have time to answer because in a split second Rihan had detached the wolf's head from its body. In a few more moments Tanrou and Rokuson burst over the wall of the mansion. Trampling everything in their path. In the same instance lightning crashed down on yokai of all types. One by one the yokai began to die. But there were too many of them. They would soon be overwhelmed….or not. Great vines and roots emerged from the ground trapping most of the remaining yokai. They tried to escape but their efforts were futile; before anyone could figure out what had happened, a great wall of blue flame burst over the trapped yokai, burning them alive, then disappearing as soon as it had appeared.
Then out of the dark, two figures appeared. Rihan stiffened when he recognized the first figure. Yamabuki Ottome. No, Hagoromo Kitsune. Behind her was a yokai he did not recognize. But Rihan could not shake the immediate resemblance of the yokai to his father. Could he be….Rikuo?
But why would he join forces with the Kitsune? Rikuo's eyes were fixed on Yura's horrified face. Her horrified features immediately changed into those of annoyance. "I had it covered, you know!"
"Yeah and I like eating soap." He responded.
"WHY THE HECK ARE YOU SO ANNOYING?"
"You're just jealous, because you can never measure up to me, Yura."
"One of these days I am going to exorcise you in your sleep-"
Before anyone could say anything, Wakana, who had been too shocked to say anything, hollered "RIHAN!" and flung herself at him. She began to cry hysterically. "I was so worried! I didn't know what you would have done! How were you going to get food? Would you get a job or would you live like a hobo? I didn't know where you were! Or..or…." she buried her head into his chest. The yokai had now disappeared; there in his place stood Rikuo. Rihan felt a wave of pride swell up in his chest. Next too Rikuo, the girl had sunk to the floor, she too, was crying.
"Otou-san." Rikuo ran to him and hugged him too. "Otou-san, meet Risa-nee." He said leading him to the one who looked like Yamabuki. The girl didn't get up, but whimpered from the floor. "Rihan-sama. I…I am so sorry. What I did was, was…."
Rihan, unsure of what to do, pulled her into his arms. "Hush now, child. I don't blame anyone."
The family banter was interrupted by a groan from Shenji. He opened his eyes and stood up shakily.
"What is going on?" He asked Wakana. "And who is he?"
"Shen-shenji…he is my husband." His eyes widened. "Y-Your….Husband?"
"Shenji-san." Rihan acknowledged.
"R-ryota?" Shenji exclaimed, recognizing his voice
'RYOTA?" Ishara exclaimed. "You're a Yokai?"
"Not just a yokai. He is the second head of the Nura clan." Mamiru added.
"Nee-san, are they your children? WAIT A MINIUTE! You. Are. . ?OH MY FREAKING GOD!. . .Ryota?OH MY FREAKING GOD! I think I have gone crazy. " Ishara, who had just registered everything, began to freak out . Wakana smiled even brighter than usual. "Yes. Rikuo, Risa; meet your aunt, my sister, Ishara." They came forward and bowed to her.
"OMIIIIIGOSH! I'm an aunt! This is the best and weirdest and scariest and most awkward day of my life!" Ishara squealed pulling them into a hug. "I've always always always always always ALWAYS wanted to be an aunt! THIS IS SOO AWESOME! Wait until you meet my daughter! She has always wanted siblings! But cousins are the next best thing, right?"
Rikuo just smiled politely and Risa, whose eyes were still puffy, shot her mother a 'is she mentally stable?" look.
Shenji, during the introductions, was trying to wake his brother. When Kangin finally opened his eyes, Shenji heaved a sigh of relief. Kangin looked at the gathered party and shot Shenji an inquisitive look.
"I have no idea." Shenji replied.
"Oh! Kangin! Thank God you're okay!" Ishara exclaimed, ashamed at having almost forgotten him. "Is that…Ryota?"
"Yup." She nodded cheerfully. "Except he is not really Ryota. He is Rihan."
Rihan smiled politely.
"Should we go pick up the kids?" Shenji asked. His heart ached, he had to get away from there.
"Of course. We're very worried." Rihan put in. Then it was decided, Shenji and Kangin went to go and get the children while the rest went inside.
Mamiru and Yura excused themselves, while the rest sat in the TV lounge. Talking, catching up, hardly believing what had happened.
"So, Rikuo, have you fought any other night parades?" Rihan asked Rikuo. He was looking forward to hearing about how much progress he had made. He expected a none too grand answer since Rikuo was still young and only one forth yokai. He also hoped he might get to know about Risa and Yamabuki; what connection they shared.
"Hmmmm, quite a few now. The first real fight I had with someone prominent was against Gyuuki."
Rihan almost choked on the water he was drinking.
"He thought I wasn't fit to be part of the clan. But before that I fought Kyuuso and Hebidayu as well. Then next was Tamazuki's clan. You know, the tanuki? Ojii-san is friends with his father."
Rihan nodded, already impressed.
"Then…was Hagoromo Kitsune and her night parade."
"You WHAT?" Rihan exclaimed. Rikuo smirked. "Why? I am your son, the lord of pandemonium after all."
Rihan wanted to laugh, certainly Rikuo had inherited his father's cockiness. "Then was the battle against Sanmoto's 'body parts' and the Gokadoin house."
Rihan was speechless.
"And then of course there was the ultimate battle with Abe no Semei."
Rihan felt faint. He looked at Wakana "You let him do all of that? WHAT KIND OF A MOTHER ARE YOU, WOMAN? Oh and just wait till I get my hands on the old geezer! I am going to make him regret his very existence."
Rikuo snorted. "No offence, Otou-san, but I doubt that even you can defeat him."
"You just wait and see, Rikuo…."
"Sorry to interrupt." Ishara said. "But, did you just….say lord of pandemonium? Isn't that supposed to be Nurarihyon?"
"He used to be. I am actually the grandson of Nurarihyon." The awe in Ishara's eyes increased.
Soon after, the children arrived, looking exhausted. They piled into the room and introduced themselves. They were not told the whole story, but they just assumed that Rihan had saved them. But then Rikuo exclaimed in surprise. "I know you!" he said pointing at Akahana.
"I'm sorry, I don't think we have ever met before."
"I guess you are right." But she did not miss the smirk on his face.
The return of the second was a great and joyous event. The celebration went on for days. The Kekeins were invited too so Risa was saved from any unwelcome flirt attempts from Dassai, who was always silenced by a glare from Mamiru and Rihan; who swore to rip Dassai's throat out if he even dared to look at his daughter with wrong intensions. The celebrations went on for days and at the end of it, almost everybody was pretty wasted. Even the Kitsune clan joined in the celebration. Since they had learnt about Risa, they had treated her like the new head of the clan. Then life continued on as normal, except now and again his cousin would visit him and he would take her out with the night parade. Shenji too, eventually got over it and fell in love. He and Rihan even became good friends .Life was perfect. All the loose ends had been tied and happiness had truly come to those who had smiled.
