Chapter 57: New Home
I have been in the hospital for the past 3 days and I was ready to go home. The past few days have been a blur especially since Richard and I haven't slept much. With all the late night crying, diaper changes, breast-feeding, I was exhausted but I loved every minute of it, the feeling of being a mom was amazing.
"I have great news, the doctor said we could take Mar'i home today", Richard says.
"Finally! I'm so ready to go home", I say happily.
Richard smiles and hands Mar'i to me, "I think she is hungry", he says.
I sit down and slide out of my hospital gown and Richard eyes widen.
"What?" I ask.
"Wow your boobs are way bigger now", he says, "I mean they were always big but now-",
I roll me eyes, "One of the perks of breastfeeding", I say as Mar'i latches on, I wince a bit when Mar'i doesn't latch properly at first; breastfeeding was still a bit rough. I follow the nurse advice and repetition how I hold her and she latches on properly.
I finish feeding her and begin to burp her when I notice Richard still staring at me.
"What?" I ask.
"Nothing just admiring my wife who is a totally MILF now", he says.
I roll my eyes and laugh, "You do realize that we can't have sex for at least 6 weeks, right?", I say.
Richard frowns, "Ugh just kill me now", he says and I laugh.
I brush my teeth and take a shower while Richard continues to pack. After I finish showering I blow dry my hair and slip on the new purple maxi dress Richard bought me. I grab my toiletries bag and walk out of the bathroom.
"Ready to go?" Richard asks as he zips up our suitcase.
"Yea, I can't wait to go home", I say.
Richard smiles "Close your eyes I have a surprise for you", he says.
"Um ok", I say and close my eyes.
I hear Richard leave the room, a few seconds later I hear him walk back in.
"Surprise!" He says.
I open my eyes and see a wheelchair decorated with pink and purple balloons with a little pink teddy bear in the seat.
I shake my head in amusement, "Seriously?" I say.
"What, I wanted to make your grand exit special", he says.
"Aww your sweet", I say and give him a kiss, "Thank you", I say.
Richard smiles, "Your welcome", he says.
The nurse comes in and I and Richard sign the necessary forms. I sit in the wheelchair and Richard puts Mar'i in my arms. She squirms a bit unhappy about being moved when she was taking a nap, I smile as she yawns her tiny pink lips form the cutest O. I kiss her chubby cheeks, "We're going home baby", I whisper. Richard grabs our things and the nurse wheels me out of the hospital, Richard pulls the car up and walks over and opens the back door of his car. I carefully get up from the wheelchair and place Mar'i in her car seat. Once she is buckled in I shut the door and climb into the passenger seat.
"Ugh I'm starving", I say.
"Do you want to stop and get something to eat?" He asks.
I shake my head, "Naw we can order takeout when we get home I'm in the mood for Chinese", I say.
I glance out the window and enjoy the scenery around me when I notice something is different.
"Um didn't you miss our turn?" I ask.
Richard smirks, "I know exactly where I'm going Kori", he says and grins.
I frown, "Ok then", I say wondering what he is up to.
My curiosity is on high alert as I wonder where Richard is taking me; he makes a turn onto a back road and continues driving.
"We're here", he says.
I glance at the window and gasp, "Is that what I think it is?" I ask.
"Yep, It's our new home", he says.
"Wow", I say as I get out of the car and I stare in awe in the massive gray mansion and fountain in front of me.
Richard opens the back door and detaches the basket part of Mar'i car seat, '"Welcome home beautiful", Richard says and kisses my cheek.
I take Mar'i basket and Richard grabs the bags, we walk up to the front door, Richard pulls a key from his pocket and open the door.
I gasp and the shiny marble floor of the foyer, "I feel like I'm in Daddy Warbucks house", I say and Richard laughs.
"Just wait till you get upstairs", he says.
As we walk upstairs Richard gives me a tour of the house, the contractors got everything right down to the last detail.
"And this is Mar'i nursery", he says and opens the door.
I gasp, "Oh Richard's its beautiful!" I say.
The walls of the nursery are painted purple underneath Mar'i crib her name is spelled out in big block letter underneath tree branches with pink and purple flowers along with a couple of butterflies. There is a large rocking chair with purple cushions next to it. The room is also fully furnished with a changing table, a small bookshelf, a dresser and a cabinet.
"This is even better than I imagined", I say.
Richard smiles, "The house detail plan you gave me was pretty specific, I just asked Rachel to add something extra", I say.
I smile, "Remind me to thank her later", I say. I sit Mar'i basket on the ground and carefully lift her out of it.
"I think it's time we give this little one a bath and put her to bed", I say.
Richard and I give Mar'i a bath in her baby bathtub and put on her pink onesie. Richard insists we put on the one that says 'Daddy's girl' as I shake my head in amusement.
Richard sits in the rocking chair and begins to hum Mar'i lullaby after I while she falls asleep.
Richard gets up slowly says his 'I love you's' and places Mar'i in her bassainet in our bedroom. I walk through the adjoining door to the nursery and grab her baby blanket. ; I and kiss Mar'i on the forehead.
"Goodnight Mar'i, I love you", I say.
Richard turns on the baby monitor, "I have another surprise for you in the next room", he says.
"What's next a pony?" I joke.
Richard laughs, "Just follow me", he says as he grabs the other baby monitor and takes my hand as we walk into the next bedroom.
I gasp as we walk in, the room is lit with candles, and the bed is covered in rose pedals and chocolate.
"Wow", I say in awe.
Richard walks over to the ice bucket, "Care for a drink? Its non alcoholic", he says.
"Yes please", I say as he pours me and himself a glass and turns on some music.
"Thank you", I say as I take the glass out of his hand.
"Cheers", he says as we clink our glasses.
'Kiss Me' by Ed Sheeran comes on.
"Would you like to dance?" Richard asks as he knows this is one of my favorite songs.
"Sure", I say and sit my glass down.
Richard puts his arm around my waist and I wrap my arms around his shoulders as we begin to dance to the music.
"So what's the occasion?" I ask.
"What do you mean?" he asks.
"The chocolate, the rose pedals, it's so romantic I was wondering what the occasion was", I ask.
"Can't I do something romantic for my wife once in a while?" he asks.
"Yes", I say.
"I wanted to do something special for you to show how much I appreciate you and what a wonderful, amazing wife and mother you are", he says.
I smile, "I just started to be a mother, I don't think I'm that amazing yet", I protest.
"You are, anyone one can see it, you're one of the most caring people I know Kori just seeing you with Mar'i makes me realize how lucky I am to have both of you", Richard says.
"Aww you're going to make me cry", I say as I start to tear up.
Richard shakes his head, "The nurse warned me about possible mood swings after you gave birth, I probably should have listened", Richard teases.
I roll my eyes, "Oh just shut up and kiss me", I say and bring my lips to his.
*Somewhere in an unknown location
"She had the baby and they just moved into a new house".
"About time, I was getting impatient".
"When do we make our next move?"
"The boss is getting impatient; he wants us to move now so the plan goes down tomorrow".
I smirk with satisfaction as I glance back at the mansion.
