Chapter 58: Hostage
The doorbell rings and the sound echoes thought the new house. I pick up Mar'i from her bassinet and walk downstairs.
"Surprise!" Donna yells as I open the door.
"Donna!" I yell and give her a hug.
"I leave to go to the Bahamas for a week and you have your baby and move to a new house, I miss everything!" Donna says and looks down in my arms, "Is that her? she's adorable Kori", Donna says.
I smile, "Thanks I was just going to the nursery to change her, do you want to help?" I ask.
Donna nose wrinkles, "Um I'll just watch and then maybe hold her after", she says as she follows me upstairs to the nursery.
"What happened to him?" she asks as she notices Richard passed out in the rocking chair.
"He had diaper duty last night", I say.
"Ah I see", Donna says and shrugs.
I finish changing Mar'i diaper and put her in a new onesie, "Do you want to hold her?" I ask.
"Of course" Donna says and I hand her Mar'i , "Hello little Mar'i I'm your Auntie Donna coochie coochie coo", she in her baby talk voice.
"Has she opened her eyes yet?" Donna asks.
"She opened them when she was born but the doctor says it can take a few days for her to open them again, their green like mine", I say smiling.
"Aww, black hair with green eyes she's a mini version of her mom and dad", Donna says and I smile.
"Looks like someone is getting sleepy", she says as she notices Mar'i yawning.
"Time for a nap", I say and hold my arms out for Mar'i. Donna hands her to me and I put Mar'i in a bassinet.
"So how was your trip?" I ask.
"Great, Terry and I had a great time, did you notice anything different about me?" Donna asks.
I tap my chin, "Umm did you get highlights?" I ask.
Donna rolls her eyes, "No", she says and brings her left hand to her cheek, "Notice anything now?" she asks.
"OMG YOU'RE ENGAGED!" I yell.
"What's wrong!?" Richard says as he wakes up with a start.
"I can't believe you're engaged! Congrats" I say and jump up and down happily.
"Ugh, that's what all the yelling is about", Richard says.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you", I say apologetically.
Richard sighs, "It's ok, I need to take a shower anyway", he says and gets up to stretch, "And congratulations Donna", he says.
"Thank you!" she says before Richard leaves.
I sit down in the rocking chair and motion for Donna to sit next to me, "You have to tell me all about your trip", I say.
Donna proceeds to tell me about how Terry surprised her with the trip to the Bahamas and how Terry had been acting weird during the trip.
"I seriously thought he was going to breakup with me but it turns out he was just nervous the whole time", Donna says.
"Aww that so cute", I say.
"I know! Ugh I feel like celebrating! We should totally go shopping!" Donna suggests.
"Hmm ok I could always pick out some more baby clothes for Mar'i, let me just let Richard know", I say.
"Cool, I'm meet you downstairs", Donna says and she gets up and leaves.
I walk through the adjoining door to the Master bedroom and see Richard eating some milk and cookies, "Richard?" I ask.
"Yea babe?" he says between bites.
"Me and Donna are going shopping for a bit, can you watch Mar'i for a bit?" I ask.
"You don't even have to ask, she's my daughter too ya know", he says.
I stick my tongue out at him, "I know, I know, I just wanted to ask you anyways, I've already laid her down for a nap and I pumped already so there's breast milk in the fridge", I say.
"The breast milk wouldn't happen to be in these cool little bottles would they", Richard says and holds up a half empty bottle.
"Richard….did you just drink my breast milk..." I say in between giggles.
Richard shakes his head, "Uh I guess I did, this sleep deprivation is affecting my brain", he says.
"Ya know it's actually not that bad but I think I will stick to regular milk, he says.
"You're such a perv", I say and laugh.
"Have fun shopping", he says and gives me a quick kiss.
"Thanks", I say, I grab my purse and walk into the nursery and give Mar'i a quick kiss on her forehead.
"Mommy will be back soon", I say and leave the room.
I walk downstairs, "Ready to go?" Donna asks.
"Yea", I say even though I'm missing Mar'i and Richard already.
I climb into the passenger side of Donna's car and she drives off.
"Oh I love this song!" I say as crank up the radio as I hear, 'Can't Hold Us' by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
Donna and I sing to the radio until we reach the mall.
"Where should we go first?" I ask.
"There's this new dress shop that's supposed to be good", Donna says as we walk toward the front entrance.
We immediately start scanning the racks for sales.
"Oh Kori this would be perfect for you!" Donna yells as she holds up a little black dress.
"Um, I don't know, I still haven't gotten my post baby body yet", I say.
"Oh c'mon, you look like you lost wait already just try it on, you never know", she says.
I sigh, "Fine", I say and take the dress, "I'll be in the dressing room", I say.
One of the associates gives me a number for the dressing room, I walk to the dressing room and close the curtain.
I sigh and turn to the side and glance at the mirror, I hang the dress on the dressing room hook when suddenly a cloth covers my mouth.
"Mmmmmm!" My screams are muffled as I slowly lose consciousness.
"Wake up you bitch", I hear a voice say.
My vision is foggy as I regain consciousness, "Well hello sleeping beauty", the voice says.
My vision is clear and my eyes widen in horror, "Xavier? You're supposed to be"
"In prison? You would like that wouldn't you cutie", he says.
I struggle to move and glance down and notice that I am chained to a chair.
"Good look getting out of those", he says.
"How did you escape?" I ask.
Xavier sits in the chair in front of me and pulls a gun from his pocket and I tense.
"Don't worry I'm not going to shoot you…yet", he says.
"So here I am being hauled off to prison after you and your asshole husband sent me there", Xavier says starting his story, "I was mad as hell and then to find out you were pregnant by him made everything worse. I was fueled with rage until one day I received a letter. The letter was from someone who understood what I was going through and wanted to help. That is where the plot for revenge began all we needed was a benefactor and you made that so easy", he says.
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
"I'm talking about what a little cock tease you are and how you and your bastard husband pissed off Mr. Wilson, one of the most powerful men in the city", he says.
Something in my mind clicks, "He's the one who helped you escaped isn't he?" I ask.
Xavier smirks, "That's one of the thing I like about you Kori, your more than just a pretty face", he says, "Slade arranged my prison escape and faked my death, I've been in hiding ever since until it was time to take action", he says.
"So what's your plan this time? Keep me here and try and force me to love you?" I ask.
Xavier snorts, "Slade is the one who wants you Kori, I'm over you besides I'm a married man now", he says, "Kori I would like to introduce you to my wife", Xavier says.
I hear the sound of high heels and a familiar voice, "Hello sister dear", Komi says and smirks.
