Chapter 60: Gone
I wake up to the sound of machines beeping and the bright lights of the hospital room. I take a deep breath as I adjust to my surroundings.
"Your awake", Richard says and squeezes my hand softly.
"Richard", I say in pure relief.
"What happened?" I asked confused.
"You don't remember? Xavier shot you", Richard says, "He shot you in the stomach once and the other bullet grazed your head, you lost a lot of blood", he says.
"That explains a lot, my stomach feels like shit", I say.
"I'll get a nurse", Richard says and kisses my forehead.
The nurse and the doctor comes in and check my vitals. As the nurse checks my wounds and changes my bandages, I almost gag as I see how much blood is on the old bandages. Richard chuckles at my expression and holds my hand.
"How are you feeling?" Richard asks.
"Better know that you're here", I say, "How did you find me?" I ask.
Richard scratches the back of his head awkwardly, "Um promise you won't get mad when I tell you", he says.
I eye him suspiciously, "Ok… I promise", he says.
Richard takes a deep breath, "I kinda put a tracking device in your wedding ring", he says.
My mouth gapes in shock, "You what!?" I yell.
"It was as a precaution! We're a power couple now and you already got kidnapped once, It's not like I use it to keep tabs on you, there's one in my ring too, please don't be mad", he says bracing for my reaction.
I shake my head, "That has to be the most sneakiest, smartest thing you've ever done", I say.
"Um, thanks?" Richard says confused.
I smile and him and hit him in the shoulder, "Ow! What was that for?" he asks.
"For putting tracking device in my ring without telling me", I say.
Richard shrugs, "Fair enough", he says.
I lean forward and give him a deep, sensual kiss, Richard kisses me back eagerly and our tongues fight for dominance.
"What was that for?" Richard asks dreamily.
"For coming to my rescue" , I say and Richard smiles.
"You're an amazing woman Kori", he says.
"Don't you forget it", I say and Richard laughs.
A knock on the door alerts my attention, "Alfred!" I say joyfully.
"Miss Kori, how are you feeling?" he asks.
"Much better", I say.
"That's good news, someone is very eager to see you", he says and brings a stroller into the room.
"Mar'i", I say and Richard smiles as he hears the pure joy in my voice.
"You think you can sit up and hold her?" he asks.
"Yes, I might need some help", I say.
Richard nods, I sit up a bit and wince as I lean forward, Richard adjust the pillows and helps me lean back. I hold out my arms for Mar'i and Alfred places her in my arms.
"She has missed you greatly Miss Kori", he says.
"I missed her too", I say and kiss Mar'i forehead , "Thank you so much Alfred", I say.
"Yea thanks for everything Al", Richard says.
"Anytime Master Richard and Miss Kori",he says and does a quick bow before leaving.
"Did Mar'i miss her mommy", I say and rub my noses with her and she laughs.
"Omg! Richard her first laugh!" I yell happily.
"Where's my camera!?" Richard says excitedly and starts searching the stroller, "Forget I'll just use my phone", he says and pulls it out, "Ok I'm ready", he says and I laugh.
I hear a soft knock on the door, "Kori", my mom says.
"Mom? Dad?" I say surprised as both my parents walk into the room, "What are you doing here?" I ask.
"My daughter was kidnapped and shot, why wouldn't be here?" she say hurt.
"Sorry I didn't mean it like that", I say.
My mom face softens, "I know honey" , she says.
"How are you doing kiddo?" my dad asks.
"Better, now that Mar'i, the doctor said that I am healing fast", I say.
"That's good, you had us worried", my mom says and starts to tear up.
Ryan walks into the room, "Hey sis your ok? How's the wound doing? Do you have a scar? Can I see it?" he asks.
"Nice to see you to Ryan and I don't know if I have scar yet", I say.
"If you do, I have to take pictures", Ryan says, " It's all over the news about your kidnapping and shooting my friends are saying you're a total badass now", he says.
"Ryan leave your sister alone", my dad says.
"What I just thought I would lighten the mood a bit, its been so depressing around here lately after what happened to Komi", Ryan says.
"Wait, what happened to Komi?" I ask and my parents look at each other.
"Oops", Ryan says and slumps into his chair.
"I haven't gotten the chance to tell her yet", Richard says.
"It's ok, I think it's better if we tell her", my dad says.
"Tell me what!" I yell frustrated.
"Um I think we should put Mar'i back in her stroller", Richard says.
I had Mar'i over to him and he places her in her stroller.
"Now tell me what happened to Komi?" I ask.
My mom sighs, "What's the last thing you remember about the kidnapping Kori?" my mom asks.
"I remember Komi and Xavier fighting over the gun and police trying to break down the door", I say.
"And you don't remember anything after that?" my mom asks.
"No, because apparently Xavier shot me", I say, "Now tell me what happened to Komi?" I ask.
My mother sighs, "She didn't make it", my mom says.
"What?" I say in shock.
"She's dead Kori", my dad say, "Komi is gone".
