Let's do the time warp again...anyways time jump everyone. We're so close to the end and i'm excited. I do not own twilight so i'm not meaning any copyright infringement. Thank you again for the review it makes me feel like finishing this.
"Jasper" a tiny voice screamed as the little body barreled into me. I held her in my arms and kissed the top of her head.
"What is it Emmalie?" She was still crying.
"Jamie said a zombie bit him at the cemetery and he was trying to bite me." I took a deep breath and saw the sneaky monster lurking behind a corner.
"Go see auntie Bells she's immune to zombies." She quit crying for a second.
"Really?" Her little voice and bright blue eyes melt my heart every time.
"Yeah baby girl, go inside okay. I'll take care of the zombies." She climbed down like a little spider monkey and ran inside with everyone else.
"Boy you get your butt over here." I roared at him. He came sulking over with his head looking at the ground.
"Today, Jameson. Really out of all the days you pick today." I ran my hands though my hair.
"I know." His voice was very quiet. He turned his foot into the dirt.
We stood there for a minute, him looking at the ground me looking at him.
"What is going though your head." I squatted down to be eye level with him.
"He was suppose to buy me a horse." He sniffled .
"You're mad because you didn't get a horse." I was confused and a little mad.
"No, I mean yes. I mean I don't know." He was just like his aunt sometimes.
"Jamie." I put my hand on his shoulders.
"He was going to teach me to ride. Like he taught you and mommy." He started sniffling so I pulled him into my chest.
"I know." I whispered. I let him cried for a few minutes. " Alright son, lets clean up that face." I used the cuff of my sleeve to wipe off his face. "Now go tell your sister sorry." He scurried into the house as Bella came out to the porch. She scuffed up his hair as he went inside. She gave me a sad face as I walked up to the porch.
"Since when I'm immuned to zombies. " She kissed my head as I stood on the bottom step. I took another step and she wrapped her arms around me. I explained what happened she laughed softly and kissed the top of my head.
"I love you darlin." she smiled and held me closer.
"Babe you need to come inside everyone is asking for you." She turned to lead me inside. I took a deep breath and followed her. I bit my mouth until everyone left. After wards I was sitting at the table with Rose and Emmett. Bella finally joined us and put her head on my shoulder.
"Emmalie is asleep in our bed." I intertwined my hand with hers then kissed her fingers.
"I'm sorry, I don't know whats been going on with them lately." Emmett said still holding Rose in his arms. Maria came downstairs and put a large bottle of whiskey on the table.
" was saving this. Y'all drink that, I'll take care of the little ones." She then disappeared back upstairs. Bella got up and got a few glasses and some coke. She set them in front of me, I started to fill the glasses.
"To papa Jack, he will be missed." Rose said clinking the glasses together. We began sharing stories. Rose told us about the time when her and Emmett were building their house. He had brought them the a horse shoe from the first horse him and grams bought together. Bella started refilling the glasses this time.
"I think that is the same day he told me he liked me. I always assumed he tolerated me but we went for a walk and he said he liked me and was proud of how I stepped up took care of my family." Emmett actually had a tear rolling down his face. He downed his drink and smiled at Rose. She whispered something to him and kissed his nose.
"I think the best story I have is when I decided to ask little miss here to marry me." I kissed her hand as she blushed. I told them what happened that night. The girl made the aw noise that they make. Emmett filled my glass and handed it to me. I drink it down letting it burn down my throat. Rose and Bella were talking about redoing the childrens room upstairs for when we watch the kids. I handed her another drink and she gulped it without realizing. Her face turned scrunchy and made a weird gagging sound.
"Jas." She gasped out. I laughed a little. She took a sip of coke ad glared at me from above it. I filled the glass again and handed it to her.
"This is whiskey." I kissed the top of her head and moved so that she could lean against me. She sipped on her glass.
"I just can't believe he's gone." She whispered. We all hummed in agreement then took a drink. "I can still hear him complaining about me not making an honest man out of you." I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks.
"Not for lack of me trying. " I whispered into her ear kissing her ear lobe. She blushed and sipped from her glass.
"Maria said he knew he was sick." I took a long drink.
"Wouldn't surprise me, man was good at hiding things." She hit my leg and turned and glared at me.
"Guess that's why he pushed me getting the winery up and running so fast." An empty glass hit the table and I filled it again. Emmett declined saying he had enough and started drinking some water. I nodded in agreement and refilled my glass. I handed the glass back to Bella and retook my spot.
"And why he was so insistent on us finishing the house and shop so soon." Rose said as she leaned against Emmett shoulder. Another hum of agreement and a loud gulping sound. Rose and I shared a few more stories. I'm not sure how many drinks I had but the bottle was nearly empty when we heard some little feet clamber down the stairs.
"Mama. I left Tommy." Emmalie voice sounded like she'd been crying. Rose got up and picked her up.
"Hey baby girl, is brother awake." Rose was an amazing mother. Emmalie tiny hands rubbed her eyes as she nodded.
"He said to leave him alone about the stupid moose. Tommy isn't stupid he's my friend."
"Okay, you want to go home?'" She asked her making Emmett get up and go upstairs to get Jamie. She nodded and got down to give me and Bella hugs bye.
"You guys smell weird." she said as she wrapped her tiny arms around both of us. I kissed the top of her head as she went back to her mama.
They left and Bella took Rose and Emmett glasses to the kitchen. I filled our glasses with the rest of the whiskey then went to the porch. She joined me on the bench leaning against me again. We watched my sister and family walk down the yard to their house.
"So what is your favorite Jack moment." She smiled and took a long drink from it.
"My eighteenth birthday. When you brought me home." She took another sip. We don't talk about that day. Charlie still hasn't called her or Emmett. We hear from Sue and my mom moved down to Austin a couple years ago.
"Really, how so." I asked as I rubbed her arm with my free hand.
"He just apologized for how my dad behaved, he said that it's hard to admit your babies have grown up. He convinced me not to hold a grudge and never give up reaching out to him." I kissed her head again as she took another long drink.
"I am sorry for how that turned out. I was hoping he'd calm down after awhile."
" He then told me that even, though it feels like I lost a dad, that he was glad he got a granddaughter. Jack never made me feel like an outsider to his family. I'm really going to miss him Jas." She started crying so I scooped her into my arms.
"I know darlin me too. He was more then my papa, he was my father and best friend. It's not fair." We sat on our little swing quiet for a long time. I kissed her head and realized she was asleep so I picked her up and took her to our room.
A few days later...
"I don't want it. I'll sell it to you. Here give me ten bucks we'll call it good." She slammed her purse down on the table as we came inside.
"Bells, you've been left with a lot more then ten dollars worth of things." She rubbed her hand across her face and stormed into the office.
"Miss Bella calm down. Mr. Jack was trying to be nice." Maria was trying to calm her down unsuccessfully.
" Jas, you tell that lawyer he's wrong." She was rifling though her files trying to find some paper work.
"Darlin, you and Jack never separated the winery from the ranch." I pulled her hands into mine.
"I can't be a co owner of your familys' ranch." she said softly as she went to sit on the couch.
"Miss Bella you are family. " She put a glass of some amber color liquid in her hand. "Jack wanted to make sure everyone he cared about was taken care of."
Jack had left both Maria and Bella two and half percent of the ranch. He wanted them to have a say in how the ranch was managed since Bellas' winery was on it. She wasn't happy about it, she really wasn't happy that he left her the lake house either. She had calmed down a little and was going thought the mail.
"Jas." Her voice sounded surprised. She handed me an envelope, it was very official looking. I read over it quickly.
"I didn't know you entered." I put the envelope down and looked at her with the same shocked expression.
"I didn't, I never even heard of it." She got on the computer and looked it up. "There we are. Whitlock Wines, best new pink."
"Jack must have entered it, he was always doing things like that. Mama got that job in Austin because he entered a couple of her painting in a competition." She rolled her eyes and checked her email.
"It's in Vegas, in a week. I don't want to go." She continued clicking stuff and avoiding eye contact.
"It's an honor darlin, we should go." I sat on the desk corner next to her. "Plus it's Vegas when am I ever going to get you to go."
"Hmm." She paused while reading something interesting. "Well you know how I have been wanting to expand and get newer equipment."
"But you refuse to take money from me or Jack because you didn't want to endanger the ranch." I nodded along a little proud of how independent she is.
"Well one of the Volturi brothers wants to partner with me. They are asking if I can have dinner with them in Vegas sometime during the contest."
"See we need to go now. What all do we need to bring?" She looked at the letter again.
"We'll need to bring a case of the pink wine and any other wines we would like people to try. They'll provide a table and we let people sample the wine for two days. Sounds like a lot of work."
"We'll bring Rose and Emmett. The've always wanted to take an adult vacation. Maria can watch the kids." Maria nodded as she sifted from some old paper work. " I can have Mr. Hunter take over for me for a couple days."
"Okay. I guess I'll email them and let them know. " I kissed her forehead and got up to go tell Rose and Emmett.
"It'll be fun darlin, you won't regret it." I left her in the office with Maria. Then walked over to the stable to grab a four wheeler. Ciarra passed away a couple years ago and I still hadn't replaced her. I just used the four wheeler or razor to get around the ranch. I drove down to Emmett shop on the edge of the property near the highway.
"Hey brother, whats' up" He used a rag to clean off some oil before he shook my hand. I told him about Bella being nominated for best wine and that we could use his help in Vegas.
"Sounds good to me but you have to ask the boss." He motion his head towards the office in the back. I knocked softly and she motion for me to enter. She was on the phone.
"I don't care Tony, you promised my the part yesterday. If it's not here by the end of the day we will switching to another dealer." She sounded so rough and in charge. She finished law school but liked the shop so much she never took the bar. She could get very mean with some of the dealers they work with. I listen to her agree until she got her way.
"Bella still freaking about the reading." She asked as she yelled to Emmett that the part will be here in an hour.
"A little, are you okay with it?" I had ran after Bella so I didn't get to talk to her yet.
"Forty percent of the ranch, the shop, and our house? Yeah I'm happy, I mean the ranch has always been your thing. I trust you. Beside between ma, Maria and Bella you can't go rogue on us."
"Where's the kiddos?" I don't know why I was avoiding asking her.
"Jamie is playing in the yard behind the shop" She pointed towards the window and I saw him throwing a ball around. "Emmy is in the waiting room coloring." I think the main reason they opened their own shop was so they could spend more time with their kids.
"Um, you want to come to Vegas with Bells and me. You'll have t owork a couple days but then y'all can have a real vacation."
"I don't Jas, I mean we got work and what about the kids?"
"Maria will watch them and you own your own shop I think you can take a few days off. It would mean a lot to me."
"Fine, but on one condition." She never could just agree to something.
"What is it sister of mine."
"You have to talk to Bella about getting married. I mean y'all been engaged for almost eight years now. It's getting a little ridiculous." She lifted her eyebrow and smirked at me.
"I know, I know. At first it was the waiting till we finished school. Then it was lets travel a little after that it was getting the winery up. Sometimes I think she belives we're already married." She laughed at me.
"I think you're right. Okay let me call our clients and get everything ready. We're leaving in a week you said."
"Yeah in a week" I gave her a hug then hunted down my niece and nephew to give them hugs. I returned to house and began making the calls I needed to make.
