Ian's POV
I barreled to the front door of Melanie's house. I needed to do this and I needed to do it now. I knocked on her door and waited anxiously for her to answer it.
"Oh, hey Ian." She smiled.
I took a deep breath. "Melanie, we need to talk."
Melanie's smile faded and she opened the door wider so I could join her inside.
"What is it, Ian?" She asked, worry tainting her voice.
"I have a great opportunity for Smosh. We're working on a big project for the channel." I smiled, trying to make Melanie realize it was a good thing too.
Melanie jumped in the air and then threw her arms around me. "Ian! That's amazing!"
I hugged her back. "I know." This is going to be harder than I thought. "Melanie, there's something else." I hate this part, hopefully this goes well. "The project will be filmed in New York."
"Oh, how cool! I've always wanted to go to New York!" She beamed.
"I'm going to have to move there temporarily to work on it."
Her face fell a little. "How long will you be gone?"
"It should take about six months to film." I said, watching her face.
Now her face was pained. "So I won't be able to see you for six months?"
"Well, I could take you with me."
"Are you serious?" The words were sprinkled with expectancy.
"Yes, but you would have to leave pretty much everything you have here behind. I wasn't really sure you'd go for that so I was scared to tell you." I said.
"Of course I'm going with you, silly!" Elated, I lifted Melanie off the ground and spun in a circle while she chuckled, the pure glee clear in her expression.
I returned Melanie to the ground as our jubilant celebration dwindled from hearty laughter to toothy smiles. "You know, you look extra sexy when you're happy." I took a step forward, decreasing the space between us.
"So I've heard." She replied with a smirk.
"Oh yeah? Who told you that?" Feeling slightly jealous, I wrapped my arms around her waist pulling her even closer to me.
After her eyes shifted from mine to the floor, I knew she was bluffing. "A lot of people have told me that."
"Mel," I said, gently lifting her face, forcing her to look me in the eyes. "I can't wait any longer."
"What are you talking ab-" I forced her mouth to stop talking with my own. Kissing me back, Melanie wrapped her arms around my neck. After pulling away for a moment she spoke. "You know, you don't have to always interrupt me in the middle of a sentence." Her expression transformed into one of discipline and then quickly back into one of playfulness.
Walking backwards, leading me deeper into her house, Melanie beckoned me forward and I eagerly complied. Melanie expertly maneuvered through the hallway and lured me into her bedroom with a not-so-innocent grin. I hastily shut the door after me, not wanting to be interrupted.
*Some time later*
Feeling transformed, I eased my way out of the bed and to the kitchen with just my boxers on, hunting for something to drink.
"Melanie! I forgot my jacket!" I heard someone call from near the garage.
Rushing back into Melanie's room, I tried not to make any noise as to not be discovered in this compromising attire.
"Okay!" Melanie shouted in reply.
At the door to her room, Melanie stood, and rushed me inside. I dove under the comforter which was lying on top of Melanie's bed and Melanie lay down beside me.
"Who is that?!" I whispered furiously.
"It's Andrew, couldn't you tell?" She whispered back.
"No," I replied truthfully, "but I should have known it was him!"
"Yeah, since he lives here!" She whisper-exclaimed back. "Now be quiet until he leaves."
*Two grueling minutes later*
Footsteps sounded from the hallway as Andrew approached the bedroom.
"Mel?" He asked from the doorway.
"Yeah?" She responded.
"Look, I'm really sorry about springing all of that stuff on you yesterday. I just -" What the hell are they talking about? Melanie is going to have some explaining to do!
"No, it's okay, it's fine." Melanie got off the bed. "Now is really not a good time to talk, okay? I need some time to be alone." Good, this means I have a chance to talk to Melanie about this.
A moment of silence passed. I was tempted to just jump out of the bed and confront Melanie and Andrew about whatever was going on between them but used my better judgment to decide against it.
"Alright, I guess I'll leave then." After several seconds passed, the sound of the door to the garage made its way to Melanie's room and I sprung out of Melanie's bed.
"What the hell was that about?" I questioned Melanie.
Melanie exhaled deeply. "I wanted to wait a bit longer before I told you about this but I guess that's not an option now." Melanie plopped down on the bed and I did the same. "So, you know that I'm not actually related by blood to my parents or Andrew, right?" I nodded. "Andrew has known that all this time and so once I found out about it, he confessed to me." She paused for a bit.
"He confessed what?" I asked, not wanting any misunderstandings to occur.
"His feelings for me." I grimaced. I had a feeling I wouldn't like Andrew and I guess now I knew why. "And. . ." She stared at the floor, her expression made it look like she was deciding whether or not to tell me about this next thing.
"What is it? You can tell me," I encouraged her.
"But, you'll get mad." Now I was worried and beginning to doubt whether I wanted to hear it.
"I won't get mad, I promise." Hopefully I would be able to keep this promise.
Melanie murmured something but I couldn't hear it since she was still facing the ground. I lifted her head up.
"Tell me. And try using real words this time."
The guilt in her eyes was apparent. "Andrew kissed me." She quickly looked away from me.
I felt my heart sink in my chest and pulled Melanie into a hug. "Just. . ." I didn't really know what to say, except that I never wanted this to happen again. Melanie is mine and that is that. "Don't ever do it again, okay?" I withdrew from the hug and watched Melanie as tears formed in her eyes and she dove back into the hug.
"Oh, Ian! I promise that it'll never happen again!" Her voice was growing thick. I kissed the top of her head and just held her. I don't know how long we stayed like that.
