Summary: The first meeting is odd, to say the least.

Notes: One of my own personal headcanons that I submitted to the FMA Headcanon blog on Tumblr. I have a few on there, as well as a lot of cute ones that my friends submitted, and I'm going to try and write out all the Lingfan ones.

Ling rounds the corner, and watches in interest as he sees a little girl take down an older boy.

She's obviously not older than him, probably the same age.

He pauses to watch the exchange with casual interest, waiting to see what turn it'll take. He doesn't really talk to other kids much, his Mother had always said he was fragile. He briefly wonders if they would want to be friends.

The dark haired girl is yelling at the boy, who is screaming back. The older boy suddenly springs up, and clocks the girl in the face.

She falls to the ground with a cry of pain, clutching her nose. Ling scowls. Nobody should hit girls!

"Hey!" He shouts, stalking over angrily.

The boys looks at him in fear. "Y-Your Majesty!" He squeaks.

"Why'd you hit her?" Ling demanded, glaring at the boy, hands clenched into fists. No way he wanted to be friends with this guy.

"I-I-"

"I sbarbed it, youw Majesby." The girl says, her speech garbled as she pinches her nose.

Ling crosses his arms. "Still." He says with a huff. "Nobody should hit girls. It's mean."

"I-I'm sorry, my Lord." The older boy stammers.

"Whatever." Ling says. "But you should be apologizing to..." He falters. He doesn't even know the girl's name! "...her." He finishes lamely. "Then you can go."

"O-Of course," He agrees. "I'm very sorry, Lan Fan, I-I humbly ask for your forgiveness."

Ling smiles. 'Lan Fan?' He thinks. 'What a pretty name.'

"Thure," Lan Fan replies, and the older boy runs off.

Ling helps Lan Fan up, dusting off her clothes. "You should tilt your head back," He advises. She does so without complaint.

Ling smiles at her. "I like you." He says.

"W-What?"

"I like you." He repeats. "D'you wanna be my Empress?"

AN: Ling first proposed to Lan Fan when they were five, and on the first day they met. His reasoning was that she was "really pretty and strong".

Well, in this, they can be five, seven, or whenever it's personal headcanon for when they met. I left out the "pretty and strong" line though. I just thought the Empress line was a better place to stop.

Also, no Valentines Day special because Arakawa explicitly states in one of her end-of-manga extras that none of our normal holiday exist in the FMA/FMAB world. And I'm all about canon.
