Hey My Faevorite people! Yes your eyes do not deceive you. I really am back with another chapter. My hiatus has been...long. Basically I was writing this chapter and it was going really well (Imagine if you will, moi hunched over my PC with my cup of tea) "He could say that! And could you imagine if she just walked in all like noooo way and then they were totally like OMG! And then..." And then I realised that where I had originally planned this chapter to go, the story just wasn't quiet there yet. So I had a mini meltdown / Case of writers block, stripped out roughly 3000 words from this chapter to be used for later and started almost from scratch. Good news though is the next chapter is also well on its way and those 3000 odd words are still floating around to be used for later. I also have my girlfriend proof reading each chapter for me for grammatical errors etc so if this chapter doesnt make sense we can totally blame her! Hopefully this uber long update somewhat makes up for your wait.. Happy readings!

"Kiss me"

The request was gentle yet demanding and Lauren felt herself giving in instantly. She felt fingers entwine in her hair as a pair of lips connected with her own. The kiss was soft and tender yet full of passion and wanting, Lauren opened her mouth and moaned as she felt a tongue gently move against her own. Her back pushed against the wall behind her and the other body seemed to melt into hers. Her hands began exploring, feeling the perfect skin under her fingertips. It was like touching fire, and she felt the flames ignite inside her very core. Suddenly the lips left her own and she almost growled in frustration until a trail of kisses began working their way down her body, stopping on her neck to kiss and bite the skin there. She felt lightheaded as the pleasure mixed with the pain. All too soon the other body moved lower still, skimming across her breasts, stopping just above her underwear. Agonisingly slowly she felt her underwear being pulled down. Her heart was pounding inside her chest, the anticipation almost too much to bare. Just when she thought she could no longer stand it, she felt herself being touched just where she needed it most.

"Oh god Bo...Don't stop.."

Lauren woke with a jolt and sat up in her bed, sweat dripping from her body and her skin tingling with pleasure. Never had she felt so aroused, especially from just a dream. A dream about Bo... she reminded herself as she shook her head and tried to remove the vivid images playing back like a movie.

"Oh God. What is happening to me?" she muttered aloud to the empty room.

At that moment she was glad Lachlan was still away. What if she had actually said Bo's name? What if when she moaned in the dream she moaned out loud too? What if he had assumed she was dreaming about him and tried to...

The image alone made her skin crawl and she did her best to push it from her mind. It had been a long time since she and Lachlan had been intimate, at least with her consent. In that respect she was actually glad he had mistresses, it mostly stopped him looking in her direction. Mostly.

Lauren got out of bed and slipped on a jumper. The house always seemed to be cold no matter the time of day or the weather outside. Cold as the hearts of those who dwell within it she thought and couldn't help but smile at her own rather poetic words. She made her way into the kitchen and began making a cup of coffee as she tried to decide how to spend the day. At Trick's request, or rather insistence, she had a few days off to do as she pleased. Lauren took a sip of her coffee and enjoyed the feeling of warmth that spread through her body. It was however no match for the heat still lingering between her thighs. Just thinking about the dream again caused goose bumps to spread across her skin.

It had been two days since Bo's injury and Lauren was having a hard time keeping her focus off the dark haired succubus. Alcohol helped... well, a little. After helping Bo, she had found herself in the Dahl buying the drink she supposedly owed Kenzi. She had only meant to stay for one, two tops, but after Kenzi had filled Trick in on 'Lauren's mad doctoring skillz' (Kenzi's words not her own) Trick had insisted she stay and have a drink on him as a thank you. One drink turned to a few, a few turned to many and before she knew it she was waking up in her own bed with a hangover the likes of which she had never experienced. She had been worried about facing the lab in the state she was in until she found the note from Trick on her bedside table telling her to take a few days to herself. She wasn't sure how the note got on her bedside table, or even how she had wound up in her own bed but she was too embarrassed to ask anyone so did her best to push it to the back of her mind. Yesterday morning had been wasted feeling sorry for herself and in the afternoon, once her hangover had lessened, she found herself binging on pizza, chocolate and all things Fae. Fae generally, and Succubi specifically. Lauren had reasoned to herself that if she knew everything about the abilities of a succubus she could better understand the power Bo seemed to have over her, thus giving her the chance to become immune to the effects.

Superior plan that was Dr Lewis, rather than figuring out how to not be attracted to her you wind up having an explicit dream about her!

"Shut up brain." Lauren mumbled aloud.

All her research had ended up teaching her was that succubi were pretty damn special, and that knowing everything she knew now had just made her hunger for knowledge grow, and made Bo even more intriguing to her.

A knock at the front door broke Lauren's train of thought and she hurried to answer it, somewhat glad of the distraction. A young man in a courier uniform stood on her door step and looked her up and down. He blushed and gave a nervous cough while fixing his gaze on the floor. It was at that moment Lauren realised that she wasn't wearing pants. The jumper she threw on earlier was longer than most but still only just covered her thighs. Oh god, this is like the opening to a bad pornoshe mused as her cheeks coloured with a blush of their own.

"I have a erm...delivery" he stuttered.

The young man was struggling to meet her gaze and Lauren could see him shaking slightly. She couldn't help feeling a small twinge of satisfaction. Seems I've still got it she thought, while suppressing a laugh.

"A...um...package for...*cough*..Dr Lewis?"

"For me?" questioned Lauren, "But I haven't ordered anything?"

The guy gave her a blank stare and said nothing. Part of Lauren did wonder if she was still dreaming and her earlier porno thought was spot on. She waited a few moments to make sure he didn't start stripping, or point suggestively to 'his package', or turn into Bo. When he didn't move she pinched herself discreetly. Clearly not dreaming...not that this would be a dream, more like a really bad nightmare...well except the Bo part. He coughed again nervously, clearly he wanted to leave. Lauren took the parcel out of his hands and signed her name where he pointed. He was hurrying down her driveway before she could even say thank you.

The box was small yet felt pretty heavy in her hands as she carried it over to the kitchen counter. She looked at the top of the box and still felt confused when it was indeed her name printed on the label. She hadn't had a parcel in such a long time, who would send her one? It wasn't like she had any real friends, she had no one except Lachlan. What could he possibly want to send her? A gift from his travels maybe? Lauren smiled bitterly at the thought. He had stopped sending her gifts or playing the charming gentlemen the moment he no longer deemed it necessary. The moment he had her trapped.

Lauren opened the box. Inside the box was another box, a white one this time with a post-it note on the top. It read 'Open Me.' Inside the second box was a mobile phone complete with charger and other accessories. Lauren couldn't help but notice it was the exact make and colour of her previous one. Stuck to the phone was another post-it note reading 'Turn me on.' She hesitated - surely a new phone just out of the box wouldn't turn on right away? She tried the on button anyway and was surprised when the screen lit up. It buzzed right away with a message 'Listen to your voicemail.' What the hell is all this?she thought as she dialled the number and brought the phone to her ear.

"Dr Lewis. Your mission, should you choose to accept it involves saving the world. We need you to infiltrate the Fae world and find out all their secrets. We will be sending you undercover as a sexy doctor, you need to interrogate a rather stunning and highly amazing police officer named Tamsin..."

The voice broke off in a fit of laughter, clearly unable to keep up with the pretence and really poor English accent. Lauren herself smiled as she waited for the laughter to subside.

"Sorry, sorry...couldn't resist. Its Tamsin in case you hadn't already guessed. I heard about the...incident with your phone. It was pretty trashed so I replaced it. I transferred all your contacts over and your number stays the same too. I know I know, I'm a genius. My number is in the phone too, you know...just in case you feel like you might owe me one. See you around Doc."

Lauren ended the call but pressed 1 to make sure the voicemail would be saved and brought the phone down so she could look at it closer. She had been worried about how she would explain the damaged phone to Lachlan. He had told her not to call him under any circumstances unless it was an emergency, but even then the underlying message was clear to Lauren - do not call him unless its something he would class as an emergency. However he expected her to be available to answer his call or messages whenever he decided to contact her. Now thanks to Tamsin she wouldn't have to worry and Lachlan would never have to know. She brushed her fingers over the now black screen. As sad as it sounded, this was the nicest thing anyone had done for her in a long time. Something just for her without expecting anything in return. She couldn't understand why Tamsin seemingly had such a bad reputation with everyone else she knew.

Did she call me sexy?Lauren blushed as the thought suddenly popped into her head. Of all the things in the voicemail that was what now seemed to stick with her most. They barely knew each other but there was something about Tamsin that kept catching her attention. She wasn't sure how Tamsin could have possibly known about her phone being broken. They hadn't seen or spoken to each other since their texts right before she dropped her phone so there was no way for her to know. Unless someone had told her. Someone like Dyson maybe? The thought made her feel uneasy. He had probably seen the broken remains of her phone while 'healing' Bo on every hard surface in her lab. A knot seemed to form in her stomach as a wave of emotions swirled inside her. The images of the two of them invaded her mind, Dyson's hands caressing the skin she herself had touched only moments before. Bo pushing Dyson against the wall and kissing him the same way she had kissed Lauren in the dream. Bo's eyes glowing bright blue as...Enough. Lauren pushed the images from her mind. Bo and Dyson getting intimate in her lab was the last thing she wanted to think about.

Am I jealous? Do I have feelings for Bo? Lauren dismissed the thought as quickly as it entered her mind. It must just be because Bo is a succubus...looking after her in the lab, reading up on her species, drinking more than I should, the dream. Its all just confusing things, I don't like Bo that way, how could I? I barely know her and she would certainly never be interested in someone like me. Bo is a friend, nothing more. Not now, not ever.Lauren repeated the last part to herself a few times, willing it to sink in. The Fae were now part of her life and by extension of that so was Bo and she needed to remain professional. Besides her life was complicated enough already.

** I got stopped by a lady cop, She got me thinkin I can date a cop. Cause her uniform pants are so tight, she read me bout them rights. She put me in her car, she cut off her lights. She said I had the right to remain silent, Now I got her hollerin soundin like a siren...**

It took Lauren almost the entire verse to realise that her phone was ringing and that she appeared to be listening to her new ringtone. The lyrics brought a blush to her cheeks, especially the last line. She could imagine Tamsin having a good laugh as she set the phone up - it clearly wasn't a coincidence that the ringtone was about a female police officer. Must remember to change that before I go back to the lab, she mused as she found herself smiling because of Tamsin for the second time in less than an hour.

**I got stopped by a lady cop, She got me thinkin I can date...**

The ringtone started again and Lauren glanced at the screen, another number she didn't recognise. She hesitated, it could be important, maybe there was a Fae emergency that needed her attention, or maybe its Lachlan with another test, she thought cynically. He wouldn't be happy if she answered a call from an unknown number, well actually any number other than his own or one he deemed acceptable. In his eyes it would be an abuse of trust, she recalled, remembering his words as if they were yesterday.

If you are speaking to other people, how do I know you are not sleeping with them too? I want to be able to trust you Lauren, but you have to help me to do so.

How naive she had been 10 years ago when she let him convince her to delete every contact in her phonebook, including her fathers number, which had long been disconnected. Eventually only Lachlan's number remained. At the time it had seemed sweet, this man that had women falling at his feet was actually insecure and scared of Lauren being untrue to him. His act had certainly seemed real, or maybe she herself was just so desperate for love that she would have believed anything. Screw it,she thought as she brought the phone up to her ear.

"Hello, Dr Lewis speaking"

"Lauren?"

It was a question spoken barely above a whisper and the voice sounded slightly panicked. Lauren still had no idea who was on the other end of the line other than the voice sounded female.

"Yes, speaking. Who is this?"

"Its...Its Bo. I'm sorry I didn't know who else to call and Trick said it was your day off but I thought I might need your help so I took your number when he wasn't looking, and now I do need your help because things are bad..worse than I thought they would be. I know I have no right to ask but I don't know what else to do and there is no one else and I.."

Bo broke off suddenly and Lauren could hear her breathing deeply. In fact that was all she could hear. Wherever Bo was it sounded deathly silent. Her own heart rate increased as she realised that Bo could be in trouble.

"Bo its ok, I want to help. Tell me where you are and I will come meet you."

"I..I don't really know. We are in Hunters Wood, a big clearing, we were running and there were just so many...I tried to fight them off but one came up behind us and...the blood, there's so much blood and now she isn't moving"

"Who isn't moving Bo? Is it Kenzi?"

"No..I made Kenzi stay with Hale. No one can know about the baby, I said I would help them. I promised Ryker I would keep them safe and I failed, its all my fault, I let them down and now...and now..."

Bo broke off into sobs and Lauren felt her heart break at the sound. Bo was no longer making much sense but Lauren knew as much as she needed too. Bo needed her. Nothing else mattered at that moment.

"Bo I'm on my way, I'm going to be about 15 minutes though so I need you to do something for me. I need you to keep pressure on her wound ok? And I need you to keep her warm. Can you do that for me?"

"Just hurry Lauren...Please"

Lauren ended the call and ran up the stairs two at a time. She grabbed the first pair of jeans she came across, not caring that they were in a crumpled heap on the floor. She was back down the stairs, medical bag in hand, within 2 minutes. As she grabbed her car keys and locked the door behind her she let out a silent prayer. Please let me not be too late.

The car came skidding to a halt as Lauren pressed down a little too forcefully on the brake. At that moment she was thankful she decided to take Lachlan's 4x4, one of his flashy sports cars would never have coped with the rough terrain near the entrance of the woods. She grabbed her medical bag and jumped out the car. Though the sun was shining brightly above her, the trees seemed to swallow the light with their perpetual darkness. Lauren pulled out her phone and rang Bo's number as she cautiously entered the woods. From somewhere in front of her she could hear the ringtone but the foliage was much to dense for her to be able to work out exactly where it was coming from.

A scared voice answered the phone. "Are you here? Please tell me you are here Lauren..."

"I'm here Bo, I have made it into the woods but there are too many different paths, I need to know which one to take."

"Keep right. How can it be wrong if you keep right. Right? That's what I kept thinking in my head. Kali said we should go a different way but I refused, I didn't want to get lost or end up going in a circle. I thought that was the best way, how can right be wrong? Was I wrong? If I had gone left maybe this wouldn't have happened..."

The second Lauren heard 'keep right' she began to run. At each break in the path she didn't hesitate or slow down, her lungs were burning and her heart felt as though it might explode from her chest but still she kept up the pace. The phone was now gripped tightly in her palm, she could no longer fully catch every word but she knew Bo was still rambling about her decision, not noticing that she was no longer being heard. The panic and raw pain in Bo's voice nearly broke her heart.

Lauren came to an abrupt standstill at the sight in front of her. Had it been any other situation the clearing would have been beautiful, the trees that previously seemed sinister, encased the clearing with leaves of bright green and gold, the sun that seemed unable to break through the wood, basked the open space in a warm glow, the grass under her feet was a vibrant green with wild flowers scattered throughout. But all was not well here. The picturesque scene was tainted by dead bodies and leaves painted crimson. Lauren walked slowly over to Bo, trying her best to asses the situation as she did so. The woman currently cradled in Bo's arms was deathly pale, her once white top was stained red, and despite Bo's best efforts Lauren could see blood steadily pumping from a wound to her neck. Despite being so close to her, Bo had yet to acknowledge her presence. She put her hand soothingly on Bo's shoulder and felt her stiffen at the contact. When she looked up her eyes seemed vacant. As gently as possible Lauren lifted Bo's hand away from the woman's injury so she could take a closer look. She had expected a gunshot or stab wound, instead her eyes were met by a hideous mess of torn flesh.

"He...it bit her."

Bo's voice was barely above a whisper as she answered the question Lauren had not yet vocalised. She said nothing as she felt for a pulse. Her own heart sank as she felt the faint, slow beat under her fingertips - the woman was dying and there was nothing Lauren could do about it. She had already lost too much blood, and as fae she couldnt be taken to a normal hospital. Even if Lauren did manage to stop the bleeding it seemed unlikely the woman would regain consciousness.

"Bo I...I'm sorry. There is nothing I can do she..."

"What about the baby? Is the baby ok?"

She had been so consumed by the neck wound and all the blood she hadn't even acknowledged the woman's swollen belly. Judging by the size of the woman's stomach she looked to be almost to term. She put her hand on the bump and felt the smallest kick against her palm - the baby was still alive. If she acted quickly there was a chance she could still save it.

"Bo, listen carefully - I need to perform a C-Section. I need some things from my bag...a scalpel, some string, a pair of scissors, some gloves and the bottle of antiseptic spray."

Bo didn't move or even seem to take in Lauren's words. Her eyes still looked vacant as though she had totally shut herself off from everything currently going on around her. Lauren gently but firmly put her hand under Bo's chin and forced the succubus to meet her gaze.

"I am going to save this baby Bo but I cant do it without you."

Gently she ran her fingers across Bo's cheek. The succubus closed her eyes and lent into the touch. Bo gently brought her hand up and placed it over Lauren's own. Lauren's skin seemed to tingle at the contact, and when their eyes locked she was glad to see a look of determination in Bo's eyes.

"I'm ready." Bo whispered.

She watched as Bo gently released the woman in her arms and began searching through the medical kit. She felt sick as the magnitude of what she was about to do began to sink in...performing an operation to deliver a baby in the middle of a wood? This is insane and not at all sterile...what if I cant do this? What if I mess up and they both die? She wrapped her arms around herself and gripped the fabric of her jumper tightly willing her hands to stop shaking. She took a few more deep breaths before lifting her jumper up and over her head. She heard a sharp intake of breath, and turned to find Bo staring at her intensely.

"Why...What are you doing?"

Lauren hesitated realising how ridiculous she probably looked considering she was now left in only her bra and jeans. That's what you get for sleeping in your underwear and not taking the time to properly get dressed before you rush out of the house, she scolded herself. Subconsciously she wrapped her arms back round her body trying to hide her newly exposed skin.

"I...It's to wrap the baby in. Newborn babies don't have the ability to control their temperature well, so it's very important that they be kept warm and dry. Normally the baby would be placed directly onto the mother, skin to skin contact is..."

Lauren trailed off realising she sounded exactly like a passage from a medical journal. Guilt shone in Bo's eyes and Lauren gave herself a mental kick. There would be no skin to skin bonding for this mother and baby and for that she knew Bo still blamed herself. Not trusting herself to speak at that moment, Lauren reached for the antiseptic spray and coated her hands and lower arms before placing on a pair of latex gloves. She then sprayed some on Kali's abdomen and motioned for Bo to hold out her own hands so she could spray them too.

"Will it hurt?...Or...I mean...will she be able to feel it? ...When you..."

Bo's voice trailed off, unable to put into words the scene that was about to unfold. Lauren checked for a pulse again, it was faint but still present. For now the patient was alive and Lauren would treat her as such.

"Kali is unconscious so she shouldn't feel anything, but I'm going to give her something to make sure." Lauren explained.

But eventually her heart is going to stop beating and she will die...The words echoed inside her head but she refused to let them leave her lips. Bo was in enough distress already without having to deal with something that hadn't yet happened. Lauren mixed up a cocktail of narcotics and injected the needle into the patients arm. She counted to ten before removing the needle as gently as possible. I'm going to save your baby I promise, she whispered silently as she placed her hand on the arm of the unconscious figure below her.

Lauren picked up the sterile scalpel and made a small horizontal incision in the skin just above the pubic bone, she heard Bo shuffle uncomfortably as she continued working her way to the uterus where she stopped. Things were about to get very real very quickly. It was not something most people outside of the medical professional coped well with seeing and she looked up to find Bo staring not at her, but at the scalpel in her hand. Lauren's jumper was clutched tightly to Bo's chest almost like a security blanket and her skin looked pale. Last thing I need is for her to pass out.

"Bo?" Lauren called out gently, trying her best to capture the Succubus's focus. Bo didn't move, her gaze didn't wander from the scalpel. She seemed transfixed, the same way one might be at the scene of a car wreck. Horrified by the gore and destruction but unable to look away despite not wanting to see.

"Bo." Lauren tried again a little more firmly. This time Bo twitched slightly, her line of sight drifting to Kali's face before eventually settling on the doctor in front of her.

"I...I..."

Bo seemed unable to speak as her eyes once again began to drift downwards. She was barely holding it together and that made Lauren panic. She needed an assistant of sorts, not another patient.

"Bo, what I'm about to do...you shouldn't watch, its not something you want nor need to see. Please close your eyes or turn your head, anything you need to do. Once I deliver the baby I will need you to act quickly to ensure it is wrapped up warm. I need you to focus. I need you to be ready. I need you."

The last line slipped out before Lauren could stop herself. Bo looked at her searchingly as if trying to read her mind and find the meaning behind the words. Lauren was thankful that, for the moment at least, she herself had no idea what the words meant and there was far to much going on already for her to dwell on them. With one last probing look Bo turned away slightly and closed her eyes. Lauren pressed her fingertips to Kali's wrist. The young woman still had a pulse, yet it was fainter than it had been - she seemed to be clinging to life. Lauren couldn't help but think she was trying to give her baby the best chance.

Lauren made the low-transverse uterine incision, and set down her scalpel. Now all that was left was for her to remove the baby. Nagging worries and panic threatened to seep into her mind...there was so much that could still go wrong. She chanced a look at Bo, the succubus was still turned away but Lauren could see that instead of having the jumper still clasped tightly to her chest, she had brought it up to her face, over her eyes. Lauren watched in awe as Bo brought the jumper to her nose and inhaled deeply. Its like she's breathing me in.Lauren watched for a few seconds longer, Bo's body language seemed more relaxed, her posture less ridged. Seeing the comfort her jumper brought Bo, brought Lauren her own sense of comfort. She reached into the uterus and as carefully as possible pulled out the tiny Fae baby. Seconds that seemed like hours passed in silence. Her heart pounded loudly in her ears and she was unable to breath until finally she heard the sound she had been waiting for. The tiny baby in her arms let out a high pitched wail.

"It's...It's a boy"

Bo turned around the second she heard the baby's cry. She couldn't take her eyes off the squirming child in Lauren's arms, or Lauren herself for that matter. The way she held the new arrival with such tenderness and confidence, she made it look so effortless and natural. Certainly not for the first time since they had met, Bo was struck by how truly amazing the blonde doctor was.

"I'm going to pass him to you now so I can cut the umbilical cord okay?"

Before Bo had a chance to object or voice her worries about dropping the very tiny person on his very tiny head, he had already been placed snugly in her arms. She cleaned him as best she could while Lauren tied off and cut the cord, once that was done she wrapped him cosily inside Lauren's jumper. The baby let out a few more whimpers before settling in her arms and staring up at her. Minutes passed in silence as the two women gazed at the new arrival, the magic of the moment seemed to erase the horror of the situation.

"I always liked the name Ethan for a boy, Charlotte for a girl." Lauren said.

The air grew cold and the sky turned dark before Bo had a chance to respond. The grass all around Kali began to turn brown, it spread quickly like an infection, the flowers withered and the leaves of the tree's shrivelled and fell. Lauren instinctively reached for Kali's arm and pressed her fingertips to the cool skin of her wrist, despite knowing it was going to happen, the realisation didn't sink in any easier. There was no longer a pulse. While she and Bo had been marvelling over the baby, Kali had let go.

"I'm so, so sorry Bo..."

Bo's head hung low and her shoulders shook with silent tears. Lauren was at a loss. Part of her knew the succubus needed time to greave, but the other part of her wanted to pull the other woman into her arms and do everything in her power to stop the pain. Lauren raised her arm and wrapped it hesitantly round Bo's shoulders and for a second she thought she had made a terrible mistake when the other woman stiffened at the new contact. Stupid move, stupid! Who does that? Putting their arm around people all willy nilly I bet she..Lauren's internal dialogue was cut off by the realisation that Bo had relaxed into her and her head was now resting lightly against Lauren's shoulder.

A howl or maybe a roar sounded loudly from somewhere in the distance. It reminded Lauren of a distressed and wounded animal. At the sound Bo's head snapped up, their eyes connected and Lauren could see the mixed emotions dancing in her eyes.

"He's coming."
