"I know who is responsible for this, his hands are stained with the blood of many. My brother will suffer for his crimes."

Lauren gasped. His brother? His brother did this? How could he? Why would he?

"I don't..why...how..."

Lauren couldn't even correctly ask a single question, there were just too many flying round her head at once. Ryker smiled at her sadly as he prepared to tell her the full story.

"If you have not worked it out by now Lauren, I am a lycan. My father is alpha of the light Fae pack. That's not to say there is only one pack. No, there are hundreds scattered through out the world. Every pack has its own hierarchy, its own leader, but ultimately every light Fae lycan in the world answers to my father. It's in our blood, we are born to lead. My great-grandfather, my grandfather, my father and one day, me."

He stopped and pointed to a painting on the wall. It was a coat of arms with his family named below it.

"You have probably heard that wolves mate for life? For lycan's it is much the same. When they find their one true mate they become bonded. My father said that when he met my mother he knew from the second he looked into her eyes that she was the one. They lived in peace for many years and they had two children, a son and a daughter. When the son was barely fourteen and the daughter five, a war broke out. You see, the dark Fae pack had recently appointed a new alpha, a young blood named Grayson. Eager to assert his dominance, and drunk on power, he decided he wanted to lead both dark and light, to be the ultimate alpha. Some followed him out of lust for violence, many followed him out of fear. My father knew all about the planned attack, a good leader always has his ear to the ground you see. He readied his own army and sent his wife and children deep into hiding within the safety of their castle."

Ryker took a deep breath and turned to look into the fire. His brow furrowed as he struggled to recall the painful memories of his past.

"But two things happened that my father could not have foreseen. Firstly his son thought himself too old to go into hiding. He thought himself a man, and as such, ready to fight a war beside his father. Secondly he did not expect Brayden, his most loyal pack member, the man he called brother though they shared no blood, to betray him. So father and son fought side by side on the battle field, confident in the knowledge that the female members of their family were safe. The battle went pretty much as expected - the dark Fae that did not believe in the war fled as soon as they had the chance, others soon surrendered. The ones that put up a fight were quickly dealt with. Soon it was clear to Grayson that both dark and light were against him and so he fled the battle field like a mutt with his tail between his legs. Never to be seen again. At least...that's what we thought."

Ryker stood up and walked over to an old oak cabinet. He took out a glass and a bottle that looked to Lauren to be whiskey. He poured himself a shot and downed it quickly. He then poured himself a slightly larger shot and returned to his seat.

"My father and I were elated, our spirits high from the victory as we made our way home. We entered the castle expecting my mother and sister to be waiting for us at the door to offer their congratulations. Once the battle had been nearing its end my father had sent Brayden to them to tell of the impending victory. The castle was...quiet, so quiet as we walked in. I knew then that something was wrong as my sister was rarely quiet. I raced up the stairs with my father close behind me. Had we not already been covered in the blood of our enemies I think we would have smelt it as we approached my parents chambers. My mother and sister were on the bed. Brayden had lured them out of their hiding place and then watched as Grayson slaughtered them. My mother took her final breath in my father's arms."

Ryker's eyes glowed gold as he struggled to keep his rage under control. He looked over at his son and his eyes once again turned back to their usual green.

"With my mother gone and Grayson ostracised, there was deep unrest among the lycan's. With my father's help the dark chose a new alpha and a peace was formed between the sides. At my grandfather's insistence, my father quickly re-married. You see every pack has an alpha male and an alpha female. With things so unsettled my grandfather knew our bloodline had to appear stronger than ever. He needed to ensure that no-one saw my mothers death as a way to challenge my father for power. With his new wife my father had another son, but he could never love his new wife as he loved my mother and my new half-brother Jackson could never heal the loss my father felt for my sister. My step-mother hates me for looking so much like the woman she can never measure up to and my half brother hates me for many reasons, most of which he has twisted inside his own mind. The past few years my father has been training me to take over as alpha, but Jackson believes he should be alpha. The jealousy and lust for power has driven him quite mad. He see's me as an obstacle stopping him getting what he desires most. He believes everything that's mine should be his, including Kali as his mate. He met her and fell in love with her but she never returned his feelings, she only ever had eyes for me. This has only fuelled his hatred for me and everything I represent even further. Kali had been in hiding for months, ever since the baby bump started to show. We chose to hide the pregnancy from my family to try and protect her till the baby was born. But I grew impatient, I..I missed her so I asked Bo to travel through the woods to this cabin with her earlier than planned. Jackson gave no indication that he knew of our plans, I thought we would be safe here but...somehow he found out. He wanted to hurt me in the greatest way possible, by taking away the things I loved most in the world."

Bo's voiced oozed hatred, "I will destroy him."

She got up and headed for the cabin door. She limped slightly and Lauren once again pictured Bo's body as it collided violently against the tree. I never asked her if she was ok. I never checked her injuries.

"No."

Ryker's voice was quiet but firm and Bo stopped moving immediately and turned to face him.

"But..."

"No. I swear to you my brother will get what's coming to him. But it shall be at my hand. It will be my eyes he looks into as he takes his last breath. Right now my priority is protecting my son. I need to call my father and tell him what has happened."

"What will your father do?...With Jackson I mean?" Lauren questioned quietly.

"Nothing. At least he will not harm him. He will most likely give him the choice between exile and taking his chance with me and my pack brothers. Knowing what a coward Jackson is I don't doubt he will flee."

Ryker picked up his son and held him close.

"My father will mostly likely come here with some pack members to ensure our safe passage back home. I would like very much for you both to stay till they arrive. I would like my father to meet the women that took such care in protecting his first grandchild."

He smiled at them both before making his way upstairs. It was at that moment that Lauren realised she was once again alone with the succubus. Twenty minutes passed without either of them saying a word. Bo refused to look at her as she limped over to a chair and sat down, the pain etched across her face didn't go unnoticed by Lauren. I'm a doctor, the least I can do is check her injuries.

"Bo I..."

Bo cut her off with a scowl. The expression on the succubus's face made Lauren feel sick. She looks so hurt and angry and that's all my fault. She glanced down at Bo's injured leg and willed herself to try again.

"I just want.."

"What? You just want what Lauren? Now you decide that you want to talk to me? Well you know what? Maybe now I don't want to talk. Ryker's pack should arrive soon. After that we can go our separate ways and not have to deal with each other again."

I don't want this, I never asked for any of this. Bo is behaving like a spoilt child just because she didn't get what she wanted.Lauren felt her own anger rising. She gritted her teeth and balled her fists as she struggled to keep her composure. Before she realised what was happening she was already stood up and walking towards where Bo was sat.

"I was merely going to offer to take a look at your injuries. I don't wantanything from you."

"Well I don't want anything from you either. I will heal without your help, doctor."

"You going to call Dyson to quite literally fuck the pain away?"

"Screw you."

"Spoken like a true succubus."

Lauren knew it was a low blow the second the words left her lips, she wanted to take it back instantly. Bo's face contorted in anger as she leapt from her chair. In two short strides she was in Lauren's personal space, they were now as close as they could be without touching.

"We can't all be you can we? The perfect Lauren Lewis from a perfect family with her perfect medical degree. Dr Lewis who lives in her perfect house with its perfect decor and perfect bed in which she frigidly lays while she is fucked by her perfect.."

Perfect. P.E.R.F.E.C.T.Each letter was like a sledgehammer to Lauren's brain. Its what she had heard constantly for the last ten years, how perfect everything was and how lucky she is. Only those not living my life think its perfect.

"YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MY LIFE. YOU CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE WHAT I HAVE BEEN THROUGH!"

Lauren was shouting now, her attempt at keeping calm well and truly failing. Before she even had time to stop and think about her actions, her arm pulled back and her palm connected fiercely against Bo's cheek. The slap echoed loudly around the room as Bo's head snapped back. Bo retaliated and grabbed hold of Lauren's upper arms tightly. When their eyes connected again Bo's eyes were glowing bright blue. Lauren knew she should be scared, that subconsciously she should be relating this to all the times Lachlan had threatened and hit her, but she wasn't. The grip on her skin was firm but not threatening, the anger in Bo's eyes fed by emotion not by hate. The moment fuelled by passion and desire, not resentment and the want to inflict pain. Bo's chest heaved and her body shook with every breath she took, her breathing was erratic just like Lauren's own. I want her to kiss me.The thought caught Lauren by surprise and caused the image to flash in her mind of Bo tightening her grip and pulling their bodies together, lips meeting in a rough and passionate kiss. Tongues fighting for dominance, teeth grazing lips, moans escaping with each breath. Want and desire burned brightly deeply inside her, she could see her own lust reflected in Bo's eyes.

"My pack is here."

Lauren jumped back at the sound of Ryker's voice. For the second time in less than a day she had allowed her brain to shut off and her emotions to take control. Had Ryker not come in at that very moment, had they been alone, she had no idea how far things would have gone with Bo. I wanted her, I would have submitted to her completely. When we get too close I stop caring about anything except her body against mine.Ryker eyed them both suspiciously but said nothing as he handed the baby to Bo and went to open the cabin door.

"Where is he? Where is my grandson?"

The next few hours passed in a blur. Ryker's father had insisted Lauren and Bo join him at his castle for a feast in their honour. There were so many pack members around that Lauren was able to avoid being too close to Bo. The one time they had been alone she had managed to excuse herself from the situation quickly before her brain could once again shut down. She could tell that Bo was hurt by the fact she was being distant once again. Lauren watched helplessly as Bo drowned her emotions in a seemingly never empty glass of alcohol.

"Dr Lewis, may I speak with you a moment? In Private?"

Lauren turned to find Ryker smiling warmly at her. She returned his smile and followed him into a small side room. The walls were covered in pictures of Ryker at various ages. In the ones up until his teenage years, he had a childish grin and air of innocence about him. In the later ones his smile remained but it didn't quite reach his eyes. There were also many pictures of a young girl which Lauren guessed to be his sister, in each picture she seemed to either be smiling or laughing. The other photo's of which there were very few showed another boy at various stages of development, in each picture he seemed to wear a scowl.

"Jackson always hated having his picture taken. I think my father took them more out of obligation then anything else."

Ryker said as he and Lauren looked at the most recent picture of Jackson.

"I know I have already thanked you many times Lauren and I would thank you many more if I thought you would let me but I suspect, should I try to give you a gift you would not take it."

It wasn't a question but Lauren nodded her head anyway. She did not feel she deserved any kind of reward or even really praise for what she had done. It was in her nature to help someone in need.

"In that case I offer you the pack, should you ever need it. You have my blood oath, my fathers blood oath and the blood oath of the light Fae pack that should you ever need protection, hands in battle or our help in any way we will be there."

Ryker reached into his pocket and pulled out a small a small gold broach. The design was simple, a symbol almost identical to the one she had seen tattooed on many of the pack members she had met.

"This symbol identifies you as a ward of our pack. Any lycan that see's it will instantly know who you are and understand your importance among us. It is not something we offer to just anyone Lauren. You are the first person I have heard of it being given too."

"I..don't know what to say...I mean I...I just..Thank you." Lauren eventually managed.

Ryker pinned the broach to her coat and Lauren gazed down at it thoughtfully. If I told Lachlan that I now have the protection of a pack of lycan's I bet he wouldn't lay a hand on me again. She thought with a small smile even thought she knew she would never tell him about it. She was too ashamed to let anyone know about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband. In fact, other than Trick she wasn't sure that anyone even knew she was married. She didn't wear her ring to work, and she hadn't told anyone anything about her personal life. Would Bo be acting the way she has if she knew?

"Ryker? You should probably come see this." A voice called from the doorway.

Nothing could prepare Lauren for the sight that met her eyes once she and Ryker had made their way back to the main hall. The soft guitar music that played during the feast had been replaced by some rather loud rock music. The long tables had all been pushed back except for the top table which was now the main focal point of the room. Many of the lights were now off save for a very bright one above the top table, it looked almost like a spotlight as it illuminated the figure currently underneath it. The figure of course being Bo. Lauren's jaw hung open as she watched Bo dance. The succubus was clearly drunk but the alcohol had no impact on the way her hips swayed. Her body moved in perfect harmony with the beat as she removed her top and swung it around her head. Many of the pack howled or whistled in appreciation at the newly exposed skin and Lauren herself couldn't help the small gasp that escaped her lips. She knew she should make Bo get down and cover herself up but the only thing she could seem to move was her eyes as she greedily drank in every inch of Bo's body. As if Bo sensed her in the crowd their eyes locked. Each move Bo made now seemed to be directed at her. Each flip of her hair, each suggestive thrust, each lick of her lips...every action, even those that seemed purely subconscious, were meant for Lauren.

A pack member (Wilson? Wallis?Lauren struggled to recall his name) climbed on the table beside Bo and began dirty dancing with her, his hands roaming all over her body as he thrust against her. Bo made no move to stop him, instead she thrust herself back into him with as much vigour. Lauren felt her jealousy spike as the pack member began trailing sloppy kisses down Bo's neck while winking at his pack buddies, but Bo was paying little attention to her new dance partners actions as she kept her eyes locked on Lauren. She smirked at Lauren, as though she could feel her jealousy. She is enjoying this, she is toying with me.

"I am going to find someone to turn off the music. I suggest you go and stop Bo."

Ryker's voice made Lauren snap to her senses and she pushed her way through the crowd till she stood flush to the table. Bo took the opportunity to drop low, a leg either side of Lauren's head. She licked her lips suggestively and thrust herself forward before quickly standing back up and giving Lauren a wink. Lauren gulped as she tried to subdue a wave of arousal. Sober Bo was hard enough to deal with. Drunk Bo? That seemed like a whole different ball game entirely.

"B..Bo, you should...stop get...I mean, this down...dammit."

Lauren barely managed to get her brain to string together a sentence and the one she did manage to form made no sense at all. Get down and stop this. Get down and stop this. She repeated internally a few times. Come on Lauren, its five words for god sake.Bo continued dancing just as provocatively and closely. She looked pleased with herself, as though she were taking pleasure in Lauren's discomfort.

"Get down and stop this!"

The words came out a lot harsher than Lauren intended. She had meant to phrase it as a simple, helpful suggestion. Instead it sounded rushed and commanding. More like an order than a request. Bo's smirk disappeared, replaced instead by a look of defiance. She pushed the pack members hands away from her body and replaced them with her own, stroking her skin gently, trailing her fingers down to the waistband of her jeans. Her fingers dipping just inside, barely disappearing at all, yet enough to make Lauren's stomach clench. Lauren felt as though she were the only one in the room as Bo reached for the button on her jeans. I want her to take them off, I need her to take them off.

"That's enough Bo."

Ryker's voice startled Lauren as she turned to see him stood beside her, an oversized coat in his outstretched hands. She had no idea how long he had been stood there. Could he tell? Could he see how much I wanted Bo? What would have happened if he hadn't stopped her? We are in a room full of people and yet nothing existed except her.A moment later the music cut off and the lights came on.

"Hey! I wasn't finished! Don't Kanye me!"

A wave of boo's and growls of disapproval echoed throughout the pack. It seemed Bo was not the only one seriously inebriated. Many of the younger pack members began showing their discontent by shoving and trying to get closer to Bo. Bo continued to dance seductively despite the lack of music and this only seemed to spur them on more.

"We can still party! A succubus always knows how to have a good time..."

Bo's voice trailed off as she started to try removing her jeans once more, her fingers fumbling clumsily with the button. Ryker gave a sigh and climbed on the table. He wrapped the coat around Bo's shoulder and pulled her body against his own. She struggled half heartedly a few times but soon realised his grip was iron tight. He stood watching his pack in silence for a few minutes, and when he finally cleared his throat to speak he had the full attention of everyone in the room, although there were still those eyeing Bo hungrily.

"Bo is the mate of Dyson Thornwood. I trust that name means something to most of you. For those it does not, let me summarise. Dyson is not only a light wolf-shifter, he is also a police detective. Should anyone feel the urge to make a move on his mate I can assure you, the end you meet will not be a pleasant one."

Ryker looked pointedly at a few of the pack before continuing.

"I should be mourning my wife, marvelling over the birth of my son. Not reprimanding those pack member who are unable to refrain from behaving like a bunch of horny mutts."

Realisation seemed to hit Bo like a ton of bricks, her eyes shone with guilt as she lowered her head in shame. Lauren knew it was about time they both left, but she didn't want the responsibility of taking home the drunk succubus. That and I'm not sure I can be alone with her in my car again, not after earlier. She grabbed her phone out of her pocket and found Tamsin's number. Bo is probably going to hate me for this but I don't know what else to do.

Tamsin, its Lauren. I need your help. Bo's drunk and I think Dyson would be the best person to take care of her. Could I please have his number so I can get him to come pick her up?

Barely a minute passed before her phone beeped with a reply.

Dyson is beside me, we had to work late on a case. Text me the address and he will be there.

Is she mad at me?Lauren couldn't help but wonder. The text didn't contain any of the warmth or flirtatious humour that she had found herself growing accustomed to.

The castle belonging to the light Fae lycan alpha. Its just on the edge of town, I'm not sure of the exact address. Thank you Tamsin, I really appreciate this. Guess I owe you another one!

Nearly ten minutes passed without a reply and Lauren was seriously considering asking Ryker for the address. Assuming the castle even had one. She had told him of her plan to get Bo taken home and he had agreed with her that it was for the best, especially the part where Lauren wouldn't be left alone with the succubus. There was no doubt in Lauren's mind then that he knew exactly what affect Bo had on her. After Ryker's speech the party had quickly ended, and the three of them were now sat in the same little side room from earlier. Bo and Ryker spoke in hushed voices as Lauren fiddled with her phone.

Dyson knows the place. 20 minutes.

Okay she is definitely pissed. I just have no idea why.

Twenty minutes later Lauren stood outside the castle gate with Bo and Ryker. Bo's face was fixed in a scowl. She had been less than pleased to find out what Lauren had done. She had tried arguing, pleading and even reasoning with Lauren to get her to tell Dyson not to come and to take her home instead. Lauren had no doubt her resolve would have crumbled had Ryker not been the voice of reason backing her up. When the black car pulled up Lauren couldn't help but feel relieved. Today had been such an intense day for so many reasons, she just wanted to go back to her own bed and sleep for hours. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Tomorrow I can start again, find a way to get Bo from under my skin.

"What the fuck is she doing here!?"
