Spirited Away Fan Fiction Part 3

Chapter 6- Story

"Well…, before they died, they had warned me that Daiki was getting mixed up with things no family would want their child playing with," Haku shot daggers with his eyes towards Daiki across the table, "The one thing they didn't tell me was that Daiki had a girlfriend… That was not fun when I had to go live with him for a while… What was her name again? Nunai?"

Daiki stiffened, face pale, "Do not speak of her…" His eyes drifted off into the distance, a sadness cloaked over his features.

"Fine. But, at least I know where your loyalty lies. I was almost killed when that witch tried some dangerous spell and instead of trying to save me, you saved her! I'm lucky to be in one piece!"

"She was no witch, Haku, and I'm sorry that you feel as though I did nothing to save you. But, may I say, that trauma did not hurt your complexion at all?" Daiki said, head leaning on his hands.

Haku's hair puffed up, "This no time for your stupid comments, brother!"

"I'm just glad that you still call me brother," Daiki said, "It warms my stone heart."

Haku paled, realization struck his mind, "She didn't… Did she?"

Daiki smirked, "Did what, little brother?"

"She turned your heart to stone… That spell… Why would she do that? Did you do something so terrible that would make a witch like her want revenge?" Haku spat, "Did you sleep with another spirit? Drink too much and said something you shouldn't say in front of a lady?" Haku watched as his brother looked down at the crocheted table cloth.

Daiki's mismatched eyes refused to stare directly into his brother's eyes, "… I don't know what to say, brother… I have done all those things you accuse me of, I admit. But, those are not the reasons why Nunai has cursed me. That night… I broke her heart. Apparently, her love for me was true… Though for me, true love is something I lack. I've never truly loved anyone. Thus her curse has done nothing but slowly kill my lake and I."

The room was silent…

"I am looking for a way to break this 'curse' if that is what you would call it. I've had no luck so far… Though a seer told me a spirit that was once human can help me…," Daiki tried to explain.

Chihiro sighed, "Still, that doesn't mean you can just go stealing other people's wives…" Haku wrapped his arm around her and rested his chin on her head.

Zeniba stood up, "Well… That was interesting. Though I know that probably isn't all of it… But, I think that much will at least help us with Daiki's current problem…"

Daiki perked up, "Do remember the spirit who was once a human's name?" Gloved hands gripping the table tightly.

"Hmmm…, yes. Her name is Neko," Zeniba answered, "I believe I have directions to where she lives in one of my old books in the sitting room… Might take me a while, but if you give me a moment, I can find it for you."

Daiki raised an arm for her to stop and covered his face with his other hand, "Wait… Neko…," he sighed, "If I'm thinking of the same Neko you are…. Then, I know where she lives…" Daiki rubbed his face and looked deflated.

Haku rolled his eyes, "Let me guess, she already knows you…"

"Oh, she knows me alright… She doesn't… how do I put this… she doesn't like me…. Especially after I got her drunk and had some fun with her…," Daiki said, looking ashamed.

Haku sighed and let his head fall into his hands, "This is why mother and father warned me about you. You should have stopped this bad behavior before it even started…"

Chihiro patted Haku's back, "Maybe we could go with Daiki and see if Neko would be willing to help him?"

Haku looked up at Chihiro's deep brown eyes, "Go… with Daiki?" He looked at his brother, "What did you do to Chihiro?"

Daiki held up his hands in surrender, "I swear on mother's grave, I didn't do anything to your precious wife… except give her a little smooch?"

Haku slammed his fists onto the table, "Daiki! How could you?!"

"I was just trying to see if kissing her would help my lake in any way…," Daiki cowered in his chair.

"I'm fine, Haku. Please calm down… He didn't do anything else. Would I lie to you, Haku?" Chihiro said, cupping his face in her hands.

Haku shook his head, "No… You're the most honest person I've met, Chihiro. Of, course you wouldn't lie to me…"

"Then, it's settled," Chihiro stood up, "We'll go with Daiki and help him, come on, he's your brother…"

Haku growled, rubbed his face, and sighed, "Fine. But only this one time." Daiki smiled and promptly wrapped his arms around his brother, which Haku responded by pushing him off.

Daiki got up and brushed himself off, "Well then, let's get going, little brother." Haku let out an aggravated moan.
