chapter- Fluff
A.N. A reviewer (my 75th, thanks so much by the way everyone!), asked for some fluffy romance. And I pondered on the request. I'm not much for fluffy stuff. I do enjoy to read it from time to time, but to write it? I've never truly attempted it. So here you are, renisaturtle. I hope you enjoy. RATED M (i'm not sure how the ratings go but it's kinda mushy mushy mushy if you know what i mean)
ps i'm sorry renisaturtle- I couldn't write a "honeymoon" romance...it would have made me barf by too much fluffiness. So I hope you like my substitute.
Chapter -Fluff
A year and a half passed from the time the babe, Dunlin, was born. Summer had come to their hidden cottage in the woods. Warm, beautiful, summertime. Dunlin had barely began to walk, and Kili was amazed at how quickly their lad learned. Tauriel would watch Kili with their babe from the wee hours in the morning till the shadows of night fell. The joy that Kili found in Dunlin made all the sadness and loss dissappear from their lives. Dunlin would stumble and toddle after Kili everywhere he went, and Kili loved it. Tauriel would watch Kili and Dunlin, and feel her heart overflow with happiness.
One day, Kili had been gone all morning to parts unknown. Tauriel hadn't worried much at first. But after midday had come and gone, she couldn't help being somewhat concerned. Distractedly, she put Dunlin down for his nap in his cradle after lunch and walked outside to wait. She waited an hour and a half, listening quietly to the woods around them. All the while her imagination ebbed at her with all the horrible things that could have befallen Kili.
Kili only had one good leg, and despite his other leg healing well, Tauriel always fretted because of Kili's injury. He could have been attacked by wolves, or perhaps treed by a bear, or maybe a band of robbers had overtaken him? He had recovered his skills as an archer, but he wasn't able to run anymore. He was practically a sitting duck once he had used all of his arrows.
Then she heard it. Scratch, scratch, scratch. It was the sound of something being pulled across the ground. Tauriel strained her ears. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw that Dunlin was still asleep in his cradle. Getting up, Tauriel took one of her daggers and closed the cottage door behind her. She followed the scratching sound to the edge of the clearing, and gazed into the forest. What she saw surprised her, and annoyed her at the same time. "You had me worried sick you idiot," she called, her voice not bitter, but her words conveying her anger all the same.
Kili, bathed in sweat, and dragging a large dead buck behind him, looked up at her and grinned. "The creature practically begged me to bring him home and put him on a plate, what was I supposed to do?" He took several steps, leaning heavily on his crutch, and then dragged the dead buck by a rope around its neck with his free left hand. It was a slow process, demanding a great deal of muscle and will power.
Tauriel put her hands on her hips, "You could have just told me about it, and I would have gone and got it."
Kili shook his head, "Nah," he took three more steps and then dragged the buck behind him once again, "This was easier."
Tauriel rolled her eyes. Kili was just trying to be what he thought the role of father and husband was. Every once in a while he had to go out and defy the limitations he felt that the world had put on him. He would climb so high in the trees that Tauriel would loose sight of him, and he would swim across rivers even though he wasn't a good swimmer before he lost his leg. Always out to prove he was worthy of her, he would always come back to Tauriel with a giant grin on his face. Kili was still as reckless as ever, but she loved him all the same. Letting out a sigh, she walked over to the dead buck and grabbed one of its antlers and began to drag it back to the house. "Well I guess it is easier this way," she muttered.
"Hey where you goin with my buck?" Kili demanded, leaning heavily on his crutch with a smug grin on his face.
Tauriel paused and glanced at him, a smile pulling at her lips. "Oh alright," she walked over to Kili and kissed him lightly on the lips, "It tis a nice buck, my love," She said, "It will feed us well for about a week."
Kili smiled softly now, letting out a sigh. "Better."
Tauriel proceeded to drag the buck back through the clearing and toward the house. "We'll need to bleed it out," she mumbled.
"That tree behind the house will work," Kili motioned to a tall pine. He hobbled out ahead of her and stopped under the pine. Leaning his crutch against the trunk of the tree he pulled himself up into the tree, "Tie the rope around one of it' legs and toss the rope up to me."
Tauriel did as he asked, throwing the rope to him.
Kili pulled the buck up into the air so that it dangled head down from the tree. Tying the rope securly, Kili climbed out of the tree again.
Tauriel watched his aerobics, a grin pulling at the side of her lips, "Show off," she muttered.
Kili brushed his hair out of his face and grinned at her, "Oh you like it, and you know it."
"I think you like showing off more than anything."
Kili took a knife from his belt and bent down beside the hanging deer, slicing the creature's throat to drain it fully of blood. "Who wouldn't want to show off to you?" He said, wiping the knife on the grass beside him.
Tauriel took a step back to admire the fully grown male deer properly. "It is a good catch," she said, smiling.
Kili walked up beside her, smacking her rear playfully, "Yeah I always thought so."
"I was talking about the buck you silly dwarf," Tauriel wrapped her arm around Kili's neck.
"Oh right," Kili put his free arm around her waist, " I'm Sorry."'
"No you're not," Tauriel answered, "You're Kili."
"Oh ha ha," Kili said, rolling his eyes, "Now who's being silly?"
Tauriel paused for a moment, taking her arm away from Kili's neck, "Whew you smell! You need to wash." She began to walk toward the house.
Kili walked up behind her, "Come back here elf," He called laughing, "You know you like it."
Tauriel smiled, "Nope, back off!" she called, "Go wash in the creek."
Moving with surprising speed, Kili caught her from behind and swung her around, "Get back here, elf," He said, laughing, "You like it. Admit it."
"Whew! Nope. Too smelly." Tauriel began to back away, but Kili would have none of it.
Kili grabbed her around her waist with both hands, letting his crutch fall to the grass beside them, "Gotcha."
Tauriel smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck once again, letting him draw her even closer in his familiar embrace. Together they stood beside the house benieth the shade of a weeping willow.
"Aye my lass," Kili smiled, "The gods have blessed me greatly. Far more than I deserve."
Tauriel bent down and kissed him lightly, but lingered close, "They bless us both my love."
"Where is our babe?" Kili asked quickly, glancing around.
"Asleep," Tauriel answered, motioning to the house, "It is his napping time."
"Ah," Kili muttered, and proceeded to lift his eyebrows.
Tauriel knew what he was suggesting, "No," she said, but began to smile as Kili pretended to pout.
Kili tightened his iron strong arms around Tauriel's waist, and then pulled her down to the long grass beside him.
Tauriel let him pull her down, laying in the grass beside him she brushed his dark hair away from his face. "Master Kili you are a mess," she muttered, a smile pulling at her lips, "Covered in sweat and dirt."
"And you, Lady Tauriel," Kili pulled her close, burying his face against her silky white neck, "You are too clean."
Tauriel gazed up through the branches of the willow, and smiled quietly to herself.
Kili sat up on his elbow, staring down at her, "Where does your mind wander?" He asked quietly, his voice turning soft.
Reaching up, Tauriel traced his lips with her fingertips, "Can't I just be happy?" She asked, the same small smile spreading across her features.
"Aye," Kili muttered, "That is all I want. To make you happy."
"And you do," Tauriel wove her fingers into his thick brown hair, "And are you happy as well?"
A bright smile pulled at his lips, "Silly elf maid," He answered, leaning down and kissing her gently on her feathery soft lips, "You have always made me happy."
Tauriel let his kiss deepen, his familiar taste warming her lips. Letting her right hand rest against his neck she reached up with her left hand under his loose thread-barren shirt, her fingers running against the taught muscles on his stomach.
Kili chuckled around their kiss, her fingers tickling his skin with their light touch, "Why do you torment me?" He asked, breaking the kiss and chuckling, grabbing her hand in his own.
"Because you are mine to torment," Tauriel replied, her right hand making its way down his neck to his shoulders.
"It goes both ways," Kili answered, snaking his hand up under her satin chemise, his rough calloused palm resting on her left breast.
"You always were reckless," Tauriel replied, a challenge in her eyes.
"I know," Kili replied, "It's one of my best traits."
Tauriel smiled again, but drew him down against her and kissed him once more. And she kept on tormenting him, because she knew he liked it.
Eventually they lay naked under the willow, the green grass bending under their bodies. Tauriel's satin skin contrasted against Kili's darker tones, but even though they were different they made a beautiful combination.
Kili lay beside her, covered once more in a light sheen of sweat. He was trying to catch his breath and failing miserably.
Tauriel leaned over him, "Are you worn out yet?" she asked, laughing quietly.
"N-never!" Kili answered, "Just let me breathe for a moment."
It was then Tauriel heard the small sounds of their babe waking in the house. Shrugging on her chemise, she leaned down and kissed Kili on his forehead. "Dunlin is waking, see you in the house."
Kili smiled, "Yes. But don't think this is over with."
Tauriel nodded, getting to her feet, "Always so confident Master Kili?"
Rolling over to lay on his stomach Kili watched as she walked back into the house, and smiled.
The end.
