The smell was the first thing that struck Lauren as she woke in strange surroundings. Totally disoriented in the darkness, the doctor remained perfectly still trying to piece together what the hell had happened. Touching a gentle hand to her head she found there was blood at her hairline and she had the starts of an amazing headache. She was vaguely concerned because most likely the pain was being muted by the adrenaline starting to shoot though her system. Lauren knew she was in shock but forced herself to focus, forget the pain and figure out something to help her situation.

The smell was that of rotting flesh and if she had not been privy to so much with the background of a physician she would have been retching by now. There were sounds of talking but it was distant and muffled, impossible to understand. Lauren reached out and her fingers brushed a roundish solid. Was it a rock? No, it wasn't rock. Grabbing it fully she dropped it quickly. It was skull. With a quick pass of her hands in other directions she found other bones, the more Lauren explored the more she found. There had to be two or three full skeletons and by the size of the bones they were all humanoid. Memories crashed into Lauren and she doubled up on herself as she attempted to clamp her emotions down with all her strength. Lauren willed herself not to scream.

The face of the mutated Dr. Malek flashed before her eyes. "God why didn't I see it, the man named himself as his species for heaven's sake." As she forced herself to breath she thought of what she had seen in those grotesque features. A Malek or shifter wendigo was the rarest and most dangerous of all the flesh eating fae. Lauren did not allow herself to tear up, but she knew that her life was only moments away from being over. Working to steady herself, Lauren swore she would not go down as some defeated snack for this mad man. Anger was replacing her shock and she felt the need to face her attacker.

Pushing herself to a standing position she was woozy at first but with a few deep breaths, which she instantly regretted, she was able to take a step. Her eyes had adjusted and Lauren looked around the enclosure detecting what she felt was an area lighter than the others. Slowly she moved towards it. As luck would have it she made it to a carved doorway in the solid rock wall. Lauren figured she was in a cavern of some sort and then thought of the vampire caves in the foothills. Why was a fae, even one as powerful as a Malek, living in an area that had to have been full of vampires up until tonight? Easing her way down a fairly large walkway, Lauren found the sound of voices becoming more distinct.

"It would be my luck to have my first fae of the evening be almost too small to keep." There was a sickening shrieking sound and then a deep chuckle. "No, I was wrong. I think you might have just enough meat on you for a pre-feast snack." There was the sound of a violent blow being struck and the Malek continued, "Look at you man? Did you never take time to eat anything? You are nothing but skin and bones." There was a thudding noise and then silence.

Lauren found as she worked her way towards the voices the light had improved. Having reached a spot where she could make out the conversation, one sided as it was, she stopped moving and listened. She could try and turn around but running from a predator was never a good idea and it was more than likely that Malek had already detected her scent anyway. No, she would not run, instead she stood up as straight as possible and moved forward to face the monster that was just around the corner.

Making it to a second doorway Lauren stood at the threshold. The Malek was standing looking out a long but narrow cave opening. The night sky and the stars were just visible as was the horizon line. There was a moaning sound and Lauren turned to see the thin form of another being crumpled against the wall. She did not go to the man and instead stood her ground. She would never know it but if she had done anything else the Malek would have killed her on the spot.

"I know him." said the Malek in a calm and relaxed voice.

"Who is he?" asked Lauren still standing in the doorway.

"A killer or poacher of sorts. Cold blooded devil." The Malek said with an icy edge that mirrored is comment. "Really for me to say someone is cold blooded that is something as most fae think I am the worst that there is." The flesh eater turned to face Lauren. Having already seen his face in his partially shifted form she did not flinch or jump instead she met his eyes. The Malek tilted his head and then smiled. "Lew is it? Or do you prefer to be called something else."

"Lauren," was all the doctor said. She was quiet for a moment then continued, "Who did this man kill?" she added as they had done nothing but stare at each other for about a minute. Not breaking the Malek's eye contact Lauren had just watched him. Maybe it was her blow to the head or just the fact that she had been running from all fae for so long that the idea of turning away at this stage of the game was no longer an option for her.

"Who didn't he kill is the better question, Lauren." He let her name drip off his tongue as if he tasted the sound as it moved across his lips. This human intrigued him. She seemed to have a calmness about her that the other human prey he captured had not shown. He would kill her of course, but she was like Blood in that her strength should be rewarded for the time being. "He is responsible for what I am in a way. My rebirth to my present form. I must admit it has been a curse and a blessing." There was a groan as the thin fae shifted on the ground and then settled down again. The Malek spun to look at the man and Lauren winced at the predatory motion.

Not speaking again until he was sure his prey was still too out of it to play with. Malek looked at Lauren again but his eyes did not hold that same dangerous expression. "Lauren I am an old, old fae. Most humans would not understand what that means but I have the feeling you do. I am puzzled by your association with our happy little bunch down in the Fort, but you can explain that to me later. I was in the middle of telling you a story." The Malek flashed what would have been a winning smile if it had not been shown out of a skeletal face and full of razor sharp teeth.

"I have lived in this area for eons, alone and unaware of others like myself. The fae I mean. My form was what is now termed as a regular wendigo. As a flesh eater I preyed upon your kind, humans, for my early years." He flashed the smile again but it was more sinister now. "I lived in the shape I hold now and hunted the people of this valley. My hunger was…" the fae thought back and considered. "Less than now but at the time felt bad enough to keep me on the constant search for food." He inhaled deeply and then licked his lips as he considered her. The thin fae on the ground moved ever so slightly and the Malek's eyes flashed in that direction but he did not turn his body. Lauren knew she was only saved by fae's motion.

"So one day as I am stalking prey in my hunting grounds a new batch of visitors arrives. Different than the others, they smelled delectable and the power they resonated with was mouthwatering. My first attempts to capture one were massive failures and I found these fae were much tougher prey than humans. Unable to get one to make a meal out of by my normal hunting means, I cheated." He shrugged his shoulders at Lauren in a bad school boy type of motion. "I attacked one of these creatures while it was sleeping. Not very sporting I admit." He then giggled and scuffed one foot along the ground. Lauren fought not to turn and run the image was so disturbing.

Malek's voice was strong as he continued, "It was a wolf shifter I tasted in human form. Found out that after I consumed the flesh and the fae's power swarmed my body, changing my nature." Closing his eyes the Malek shifts ever so slightly more towards his full beast form. He looked Lauren directly in the eye, "I became what I am today. The flesh gifted me with more power, a full human shape to hide in and a full beast form to attack with, but I was cursed with a larger unrelenting hunger like nothing I had felt before. I could live off any flesh but fae would be the only thing that would ever stop that hunger. Its only lasts a short time I admit but even a few moments of reprieve are an unbelievable relief."

The wendigo shifter paced for a moment, then spoke again, "I used my new human form to blend into the fringes of this fae human community. I waited and watched and to my delight more and more fae came into my territory. I was in hog heaven with all the bodies just waiting to be offered to my hunger." The man considers the memory for a moment. Then turns and grabs the fae from the ground and yanks him to a standing position. With an angry tone, the flesh eater continued, "Then this bastard tries to take it all away. He waltzes in here and tells my prey to leave."

He pulled the fae in his claw close and pressed a soft kiss to the side of the man's head, then licks down the side of the fae's face. The Malek was done waiting, without looking at Lauren he said clearly, "I would highly suggest that you do not make a sound or move for this next little bit human. I wouldn't want you to get caught up in the fun quite yet."

Lauren knew what was coming and she forced herself to become totally still. For her to have turned away was even too much motion for the flesh eater to handle. The Malek now focused all his attention to the fae in his claw. "Not only did you try to drive away my food, you offered what was mine to the vampires." The Lead Council was becoming more aware and he began thrashing slightly in the flesh eater's grip, small spurts of pyro energy seeping from his wounds. "I heard his plan and I watched as the blood suckers moved in to kill more and more of what should have been mine. I ate what I could but most of the flesh spoiled or was destroyed on the field of battle. Leaving me hungry again." He shakes the thin fae with a violence that has to break bones. "The fae that were left never let me get close enough to hunt. I was forced to live in a state of near starvation until now."

The Lead Council groaned in pain but chose this moment to speak. Instead of a show of strength, the man tried to cut a deal, "I can get you anything you need." He rasped out. "I know fae who can provide all the flesh you want. Just let me go and I will take care of you. Please just let me go." Lauren heard the weak tone and shut her eyes. The man even sounded like prey to her, he was as good as dead.

"Gee thanks for the offer, but I just can't think on an empty stomach." The Malek sounded disgusted with the man's proposition. There was a total shift in the Malek from man-beast to full beast. As a deafening roar rattled the cave, the Lead Council was ripped to pieces. With a growling satisfaction from the Malek, the fae was devoured. Lauren drew on her strength to stay perfectly still. She willed herself to keep her eyes closed but fear that she would be attacked kept her checking the Malek's position. Her body trembled with a violence she had never felt before as she fought not to pass out or run. She could not help feeling she was seeing the death that awaited her.

As the Malek fed the blood of the Lead Council ran across the uneven surface of the cave's rocky floor. It began to pool in a depression on the far side of the room. The crimson fluid worked its way around the rocks and other small diversion to surround a husk like form that lay forgotten. The vampire Blood's emaciated form had been tossed to his current location when Malek discarded his dry remains as unusable. The vampire however was just drained of power not destroyed. The fae blood that his body was soaking in would be just what he needed to get back on his feet.

"He had a smoky flavor." The Malek said with a deep chuckle. "I wonder if all fire powered fae have such an aftertaste." The flesh eater sounded giddy. Lauren opened her eyes to find the Malek on the ground shifted back to human form. The blood covered frame of the overly friendly veterinarian was as disturbing as the other forms. Propping himself up on his elbows, he looked at her with narrowed eyes. "You are a tough one Lauren." he finally said. "I truly expected you to run. My feeding methods are intense I have been told." The wendigo looked at the heap that was once his second and tilted his head in consideration of the vampire. Pulling his gaze back to Lauren he said, "I fully expected to be lounging after having taken both of you for my meal, but you stood and witnessed the whole thing. I find you are unusually disciplined for a human."

Lauren could not bring herself to say anything right away. She was sweating and willing herself not to be sick or pass out. The violent shaking of her body had not stopped and the wall of the cave was what kept her standing upright. She had to say something in reply so she opened her mouth, closed it and then tried again, "As you know I have been around fae…"

"Yes, I smelled it on you." Snapped the man, he had reached around and grabbed a femur to play with and it rolled as he tested it in his hands, "It is your demeanor that gives you away, Lauren. If I had to guess I would say that you are fae pet? A slave maybe? To follow commands so completely speaks to some sort of training by my kind." Watching Lauren's face as he spoke he was amused at the anger that crossed her eyes when he said she had been trained. "I saw the difference between the humans under the Colonel's care and those humans that this man brought in. A world of difference, you would fall in the later category, a slave by your level of control. A valuable one at that, so I wonder just what role did you play in their world Lauren. Was it one so important that the fae would come looking for you?"

Lauren did not answer right away, then said, "I was a doctor for the fae. I helped them." The Malek looked at her waiting for more. "I signed an agreement to…" the wendigo laughed.

"They tricked into an agreement. Don't lie." He said and then motioned her to go on as he shifted to a seated position directly in front of her. "Tell me why you are here."

"I crossed them and ran to escape." She said plainly but stopped talking as a grin creased the flesh eater's face.

"You ran and they chased you. That is why the fae are coming back into my territory." The fae rolled on to his back again as he continued speaking, "So then the vampire show up and then more of the large fleshy fae. I thank you Lauren. A prized pet you must be for them to chase you all the way to Red Valley. They miss you greatly and want you back." Lauren couldn't help herself she laughed at false flattery. The fae chasing her had the same plans the Malek did, both wanted their pound of flesh. The Malek caught the laugh and frowned thinking she was mocking him.

Long fingers skated lengthwise down the skeleton piece and then he gripped the bone tight and slammed it on the ground with such ferocity that it smashed into long sections. Breaking free the jagged pieces to find the marrow and other hidden sections that had been tucked away, Malek dipped a finger through the insides of the cavity and then pulled it out to lick it clean. Lauren voiced a soft gasp, she couldn't help it. The Malek's head snapped up and he grinned. As strong as she pretended to be she was still prey. Others would come looking for her, she did not need to be alive to tempt them into his territory.

Immediately Lauren regained her composure. "I was in the service of the fae, but I no longer…" her voice was strong but the mistake had been made. She had been weak and would pay for her emotional slip. For the briefest of moments she thought of the others, she thought of Bo, and said good-bye.

"Bah, you will always be sworn to the fae, human pet. There is nothing but… death that can free you." The Malek leisurely stood up. Reaching down he grabbed jagged piece of femur from the floor and tossed it to the woman across from him. It was damp and the remains of flesh and tissue clung to the hard surface but Lauren caught it anyway. The wendigo smiled that she did not scream and drop the remains of his meal. Maybe she really was a doctor of some sorts but she was a warrior too. Instead of tossing the jagged piece of bone away, she turned it holding it as a weapon just as he had intended.

Somehow the flesh eater knew that Lauren would not just sacrifice herself to him. If she managed to escape the fae then she would have hopes of finding a way out of this as well. The woman would be wrong but she would try anyway. It made him happy that this Lauren would at least attempt to defend herself. Strength was important to him. He had the strength to face his hungry all these year. The prey always tasted better when they showed the same type of fortitude. She would be a worthy meal and he would praise her in his thoughts as he finished every last bite.

There was a sloshing sound that caught both Lauren and Malek off guard. The focus they had on each other was broken as what had been a motionless pile of vampire remains was now twisting and slapping its skin and bone arms in the swallow pool of the Lead Council's blood. With a joyful laugh, Malek yelled, "Blood, my boy, you have come back to me. I am touched." The wendigo was truly caught off guard as he felt pride and a pleasant stirring at the thought of the vampire returning to his side. "You look terrible my second, I think you need more to…" before he could finish the words a blinding pain shot through his back and shoulder.

Lauren had regained her focus just moments before the flesh eater and took the opportunity offered to her. The Malek had thrown her a bone, both figuratively and literally, as some sort of token weapon to fight him off as he tried to kill her. That weapon was now buried deep in his back. There wasn't time to make a strategic attack, Lauren had to go with the most violent move she could and hope it slowed him down. He had turned to look over his shoulder at the sound but was too tall for her to get a full shot at his neck so instead she slammed the bone knife into his body with as much force as she could. Being in human form she was able to drive the shard in deep.

The roar of the Malek was deafening and he thrashed as he struggled to pull the weapon from his back. Finding he could not reach it he shifted instead. The change in his body did not dislodge the knife but his strength in beast form allowed him to handle the pain better. The beast slammed into the wall and then drug his back to the side. The bone was forced to slice its way free of the Malek's back. Lauren had not waited to see how the wendigo shifter handled her attack, she ran for the cave opening as soon as the knife stuck in his flesh. Crawling outside she got her feet under her and ran. She had felt the graze of the Malek's claw as it just missed a full grip on her leg as she pulled it outside the opening.

With a growling snarl, the Malek looked back at the vampire on the ground and saw the form was dragging itself towards the man. "I won't leave you my boy," he grabbed the thrashing mass of sinew and bone that was Blood and tossed him over his shoulder. "Your meal is making a run for it. It is time for both of us to feed. The banquet created by your brothers and sisters awaits me." He forced his way through the opening with Blood on his back and then charged after the human. She was making good time, terror did that to prey, but he would have her in no time.

Lauren ran towards the Fort, it was miles away but it was her only hope. There was no practiced escape route or weapon caches near this area of the desert. She only had her physical training to help her now. She was trying to be positive. Her life would be over in less than a minute but it wouldn't be that she didn't try. The roar that sounded behind her caused her to look back out of instinct. Her foot hit a scrubby bush and she tumbled forward. Skidding along the desert floor she rolled to try to regain her balance to run but it was no use the fae was less than one hundred yards away from her. Instead she choose to fight him, she stood and faced the approaching beast taking her best defensive stance.

"As totally sexy and badass as that looks, I need you to duck." Bo's voice startled the hell out of Lauren and she spun on the spot. "Duck, Lauren." growled the blue-eyes succubus. Before Lauren could say anything a firm hand grabbed her arm and she was pulled hard to the side. Bo stepped around Lauren but not before she touched her hair gently. The fear in the doctor was shared and Bo was jolted by the need to protect what was hers. Lauren was all hers and no one would take that away. The succubus with in Bo reared its head and raged.

Bo's blood boiled with her emotion and the Malek who only now had caught the new scents in the air was unable to stop his progress in time. Unleashing a huge chi attack, Bo slammed the body of the flesh eater. Any chi from the pyro fae the Malek had consumed drained from his body in an instant. The satisfied feeling that came with a meal of fae was gone in a flash. The full body and frame of the beast withered like old dried fruit on a parched vine. The wendigo shifter falters and stumbled to a crashing halt. The vampire he was carrying landing in a wiggling mass to the side, hissing in displeasure as the sand of the desert floor stuck to his moist new body.

"Well played, Lauren." a slightly manic laugh left the shifter as he stood again. "I told you that your value to the fae was high. Look at what has come after you now. A tasty mouthful if there ever was one." He tried to lick his lips suggestively. Sex was not the end game food was, and he had the look of a starving animal who had just found a snack. He roared at the challenge before him and his hanging emaciated flesh quivering with the motion of his body.

"Okay, Eww, that was just gross. Kill him Bo." said Kenzi who had her sword out and was standing over Lauren. The sword was phased to iron for fae just in case the beast got by the succubus however unlikely.

Bo did a fast pull of chi again but there was nothing left. Like the vampire that had fed from her for all those months, she had no way to use her best weapon against him. The Malek smiled knowingly, he said, "Blood, my second, the table has been set, let's eat." With a strong leap he dove a Bo, but he was slammed backwards as a massive angry fur ball hit him at top speed at the apex of his jump. General and the Malek rolled after the collision. "Good doggie," yelled Kenzi.

When the dog had come to after its encounter with the Malek, it caught the scent of Lauren and had been doing its best to follow. The leg General had injured before had slowed the fae beast's progress to a crawl. It was only by luck he had made it in time to play the hero. The leap was all the big guy had left and as he fell to the ground the leg gave and he whimpered at the pain unable to help any more.

Bo was on the wendigo in a flash, instead of pulling chi she started pounding on the shifter's body landing blow after blow. He snarled and fought back but Bo had the best of him for some time and did a good amount of damage. Bo leaned back for a hard kick and the Malek got in a lucky punch which knocked her off balance. With a claw, he grabbed her leg and swung her to the side. Rolled along the ground, Bo landed next to Blood in the sand. The half formed vampire bit down into her shoulder pulled hard to remove as much blood as fast as possible. Bo screamed in pain and terror, flashes of her time in captivity overwhelming her for a moment. Thrashing hard she ripped out of the attack only to be tackled by the Malek before she could kill the vampire.

The shifter ability of the Malek had allowed him some recovery from the succubus's heavy pounding. He saw Blood doing his part and snarled in approval. If the vampire had been stronger he would have taken out the two humans but he had to prevent the succubus from killing Blood first. The Malek smashed into the blue eyed fae sending them sprawling. Bo landed but off balance, she braced for the attack but found the Malek forced off mark too and was struggling to get up fast. "Ribs," she thought recognizing the telltale sign of that particular injury have suffered from it too many times to count. It wouldn't slow the man down much but maybe enough.

Blood felt the power of the succubus's blood and was amazed. He held his hand before his face and watched as the four or five mouthfuls he had pulled from the female fae were enough to fill his flesh and return a good deal of his strength. He wanted more. With a great deal of effort he stood and then located the source of his recovery.

Kenzi and Lauren had been watching closely and with Lauren's nod Kenzi had run to be a Bo's side. Bo had been taken down by the Malek but the Vampire was gaining strength and would be a threat on his own very soon. "Just what do you think you are looking at?" said a voice from behind Blood. He swung around and his eyes went wide. "Remember me?" the little human hunter that had killed his master stood in front of him. Kenzi whispered to her sword, "Sol," and it flared. In a panic Blood tried to take a different form to flee but he still did not have the strength to manifest a mist form. Kenzi was about to sever his head when Lauren was at her side.

"Wait Kenzi, we need him." Said the doctor as she looked towards Bo and her struggle with the flesh eater. Lauren pushed Kenzi's hand with the sword towards the vampire, in his weakened state, it knocked him to the ground. With the sword held over his body, they effectively pinned the blood fae in place as Lauren shared her plan.

Bo needed to try something else, she focused on the Malek's flesh and she called any blood in the beast's body. There wasn't much but she pulled on it anyway. The man screamed and huge bruises began to form on his skin. "Hey, I'm getting better at that. Let's try again." She laughed. Bo concentrated and pulled on the blood like it was chi. Again shouts of pain rang out from the Malek but Bo could not get the blood to do worse than a painful welt. If it had been her own blood, she felt she would have been able to pull it right out of his skin. With nothing else to work with it was back to a fist to fist battle.

The Malek saw his chance. The succubus had nothing but her strength to work with and they were evenly matched there but he had a shifter's speed and could get around her. The longer he stalled the succubus with a hand to hand fight more time his body could have to repair itself. So he began to play with his prey, moving in and out more like a boxing match than anything else. Bo yelled in frustration as she was forced into a defensive role not being to get a hold of the beast to do any real damage. He wasn't hurting her yet but the more time she wasted the stronger he became.

The Malek was reaching in for a quick jab at Bo's midsection when he was hit hard in the head with a rock. "Ouch! Boy oh boy that had to hurt!" yelled a sarcastic and angry Lauren who was standing on a large rock, holding a baseball size rock in her hand. She pulled back and let another one fly, this time hitting him in the side. Using the distraction Lauren provided, Bo slammed Malek across the face with a hard right hook and he tumbled backwards. Jumping to his feet quickly, he growled at the succubus and the human, then resumed his game of cat and mouse. This time he was hit in leg with a large rock, followed quickly but another smaller rock to the head. "Oooo, got you again," Lauren laughed. The Malek wasn't really hurt by the rocks but it was distracting. Bo got in another couple of shots to the ribs before he could get away.

Lauren was letting the rocks fly as fast as she could. She did her best not to hit Bo but came close several times. The Malek was moving so fast it was just luck that she made any contact but when she did his concentration broke. Lauren knew the tiny disruptions were making him angry. She needed him so mad he would try to take her out. After a few more rocks found their target, Lauren yelled, "Hey Malek, how dumb were you to give me a weapon." The beast growled menacingly at her but still concentrated on his fight with Bo. "A human stabbing you right in the back. Hurt didn't it. Prey besting the predator." The Malek seethed at the comment.

Bo yelled over, "Lauren, I've got this. Get the hell out of here and find help." She could not figure out the woman's end game. But the anger in the Malek's eyes was growing every time Lauren nailed the beast with a rock. As funny as Lauren's attack was if he made a break for the doctor, Bo knew she wasn't going to be fast enough to block his attack fully. The beast's constant movement and her forced defensive actions were taking its toll. Bo did not want to admit it but she was weakening.

Lauren looked around desperately; she was running out of rocks. "Who the hell runs out of rocks?" she groaned. Looking towards the horizon she knew she had to try something fast, "Bo you need to kill him, he is too fast for you to stop if he runs for it." Bo let out a string of Russian cuss words that Kenzi would have been proud of. What the hell was Lauren trying to do? There was no time to come up with that answer.

Several things happened at once. The Malek took the bait and turned on a dime. He didn't run away. Lauren knew he wouldn't, the beast ran straight at Lauren with all his strength. As she figured he would take the opportunity to kill her with a fast blow and then refocus on Bo. Bo let out a scream as he dove at Lauren, her worst fears coming to life. Lauren fell backward from the rock she was on, disappearing behind it. Kenzi who still had Blood pinned down with the threat of her sword blade behind the rock used Bo's yell as her cue and jumped back. Removing the hot blade from over his body, Kenzi allowed the vampire to scramble to his feet and make his escape.

Instead of crashing into Lauren, the Malek slammed into Blood's body with a thud. "Come on," said Lauren between clinched teeth as she scuttled backward watched the master and his second get to their feet. The pair looked at each other in confusion and then at the human who was crouched on the ground only a few yards away from them, turning they took a step in Lauren's direction.

The first rays of the sun cleared the horizon. With a scream, Blood convulsed as a flash of flame swirled around his body. Reaching out in his pain, he grabbed for the nearest thing to him, the Malek. The wendigo shifter howled as the otherworldly fire that had flared around his second transferred to his dry flesh. Both the masters of Blood and Flesh were engulfed in the same supernatural heat. Lauren was frozen on the spot in horror but felt herself being pulled to safety as she watched the fire take its toll.

"Don't look," said Bo in a whisper. Lauren somehow found herself in the succubus's arms. Bo directed her head into her shoulder and was now blocking her view. Kenzi was being held by Bo on the other side. The succubus, holding on to both of her charges, moved them back from the violent scene. A rumbling noise mixed with the screams of the two fae, the women jump but then settled quickly with the recognition of mechanical engines. Bo said quietly to the women in her arms, "Helps on the way."

There was a flurry of motion as the trucks pulled up. Cappy and Cook were on the run as they jumped out before their truck came to a full stop. As tired as he was, Cook pulled a stone barrier up from the ground and encircled the burning fae. Cappy ran towards the fire and began chanting so fast it sounded like a buzz instead of flow of words. Kenzi yelled to the approaching group, "General is hurt. He is over on the side." In moments Lauren, Bo and Kenzi were being looked after by the Colonel who checked for injuries and then forced himself not to ask question as he directed them to their feet and into a truck cab. Kenzi was refusing to move until she knew about General.

"Kenzi, I've got him. General is with me." Dyson said. The wolf was walking back to the trucks with the big dog held in a modified fireman's carry. "His leg is injured pretty badly but he'll be okay." Tamsin was with him helping to stabilize the dog's leg as best she could. They placed General into the back of one of the truck and Dyson settled in beside him. Leaving Cappy and Cook to ensure the fire finished off the two fae, they pulled out and back to the Fort.

A/N: Damn but General is a fine dog! LOL! SO….Lauren is out of the Malek's clutches but what about the fae that await her at the Fort? One more chapter to wrap it all up. Your comments, support and reads of this story have been a wonderful thing as it has been a challenge to write. I send you a thankful bow for your time. - Until next chapter….gt
