Enjoy :)
The sun was shining, and the grass was a healthy green color. To add to this beautiful world, the flowers started to blossom; symbolizing that spring was here. Within seeing this, the little brown-headed girl smiled, and started to run happily across the field. The wind blew through her short hair, as the girl then circled around, dancing, without a care in the world. Pretty soon after, as the girl turned her head, she came across a tall oak tree.
The girl's brown eyes widen in amazement as she tried to see exactly how tall the tree was. But of course like all children would probably say, they conclude that it is bigger than they are; ignoring the precise height.
"Wow," she uttered astonished.
The tree was beautiful, but what really caught the young girl's eye…was the leaves on the tree's branches. The way the leaves were displayed, it showed that they weren't leaves at all, instead, they were butterflies; each one having a different shade of color. As the girl was still enchanted by the butterflies, the wind then suddenly blew harder; triggering them to move. As they did, thousands of butterflies were instantly seen, flying away; though since each one was a different color, the sight looked breath taking and magical to the little girl.
"It kinda looks a like a rainbow," she said to herself; seeing them in the blue sky.
As her eyes were still focused on the sky, the wind continued to blow; moving her hair yet again. But this time, it felt like the wind was whispering in her ear; trying to tell her something. The girl didn't know exactly what it could be, but when she turned back to the oak tree, the girl froze in her position.
The tree was so big, but, she ended up seeing a vague figure; sitting on one of the tree's branches.
"Who…who's that?" she wondered.
It couldn't be seen to the girl, but the figure looked down at her and smiled; though after another mass of butterflies flying, interrupting the girl's view for a second, the figure disappeared.
"Huh…he's gone…" she said; tilting her head.
The girl probably would have kept thinking about who the figure might be, but then she suddenly felt something nudge her from the back; getting her attention.
As she turned, not really to her surprise, it was a beautiful white horse. A smile sprouted across the girl's face, as she petted the horse.
"It's you, I'm so happy to see you Aurora."
The horse then made a noise, indicating that she was happy to see the girl as well.
"Well come on, let's see what other adventures we'll have," she said excitedly.
The girl then got on the horse, and without another word, the horse turned and started running in the opposite direction. Faster, faster the horse went, and before she knew it, the horse started to glow. Pretty soon, wings started to form on the horse, and just like a beautiful bird, gained flight.
The two ended up in the air, flying in the clouds, but as this was happening, a few snowflakes started to emerge, floating around aimlessly. Within seeing this, the girl became curious again, because of this, she ended up turning her head, facing the sight she was leaving behind.
It was hazy, but the girl saw the oak tree, instead of seeing spring, she saw the beauty of winter; snow merely covering the branches.
"Huh….I wonder…."
The girl then faced forward and continued to fly higher; going through the clouds.
"Sarah! Sarah! It's time to get up," the mother called; knocking on her daughter's bedroom door.
At first, Sarah didn't hear the loud knock on her door. No, instead of waking up to reality, she was still living in the beautiful dream world that the Sand-man had created for her. As Sarah had the covers wrapped around her small body, a smile of calmness and peace was seen in her innocent face.
The golden dream-sand was swirling elegantly above her head; projecting the current dream she was having. The image merely displayed herself riding a beautiful Pegasus in the sky, but as the mother knocked even louder to wake up her daughter, the sandy image faded; resulting for the whole dream cloud to vanish from sight.
It was clear to say, that the dream had ended, making Sarah finally wake up; though very slowly. As she finally sat up on her bed, yawning, stretching, and rubbing her eyes, she focused her attention to the door. As soon as she did, her mother came in with a warm smile on her face.
"Sorry, I woke you, but it's about time you get up sweetie," Emma said to her daughter.
At first, Sarah was going to complain, but then something suddenly clicked in her head. As soon as she opened her mouth, and put her finger on the empty spot where her tooth use to be, Sarah's eyes widen in excitement. She wondered; did the Tooth-fairy come? Then without another word, she turned to her pillow and picked it up; revealing what was underneath.
"A coin! She did come!" Sarah said excitedly; getting the gift.
Seeing her daughter's happiness, just made Emma smile.
"I'm glad you're happy Sarah; though just remember to save it okay?"
"Okay," Sarah said brightly.
After giving her daughter another smile, Emma then turned her attention to the window; seeing freshly fallen snowflakes coming down.
"Jack…" she whispered under her breath.
She tried to hide her sudden sadness from Sarah; though it didn't do any good since Sarah saw her expression; no doubt, she even heard his name.
Sarah wouldn't really understand, but to Emma, as she saw the snow, it always reminded her of her brother, it reminded her of the incident. Even though she had reunited with him, she still felt the same feeling of guilt emerging inside her, even after Jack told her to stop blaming herself.
But at this rate, it was difficult; Emma could tell Jack was hurting even if he wasn't showing it. Due to the lack of people believing in him, Emma couldn't help but still think this is all her fault. Deep down, Emma wished if just at least one person other than her believed in him, he would be happy; easing her pain. But knowing that it will take a while for her children to believe, Emma gave a sigh, and tossed the situation to the back of her head.
"Well, anyway, wash up, I'm going to make breakfast," she said; walking out of the room.
"Okay," Sarah said; though she couldn't help but be suspicious yet again.
As soon as her mother left the room, Sarah crawled to the side of the window; looking at the snow.
"Mmmm… mom seemed really upset.
I wonder why?" Sarah asked herself; while seeing the snow fall.
As Sarah was thinking of an answer, the thought of Jack's name came to mind.
"Mmm…she must really miss her brother…" Sarah said in sadness; her eyes trailing down.
"I wouldn't know what I would do if I had lost my big brother…" Sarah trailed off; thinking of the story her mother told them.
After another second, Sarah then picked up her head; looking at the snow once again. As silence continued to fill the room, Sarah then crawled back to the opposite end of the bed; gazing at the small cage beside her.
"But still…for some reason, I feel like that figure I saw yesterday…was him," Sarah said; turning her head to the cage.
No doubt, Sarah was talking to her new friend; the cute white bunny that was lost in the forest the other day. Without really saying anything, Sarah opened the cage and held the bunny up to her face.
"You were there; maybe…did you see what I saw?
Did…did he bring you home?" Sarah asked; believing that the bunny could answer her question.
But as Sarah kept looking, the bunny continued to stare.
As this was happening, unknowingly to Sarah, Jack was listening. Earlier, Jack had arrived; landing on the roof, spreading the fresh snowflakes, after doing this, he was going to greet his sister, but when he came across Sarah's window, he couldn't help, but get easily side-tracked; after all, he remembered Sarah was the only one who believed in him for a brief moment.
Jack even opened the window slightly to hear Sarah better.
After waiting for some kind of response, Sarah then gave a sigh, and put the bunny on her lap.
"I want to believe it was him, I really do, but…" Sarah continued.
"What if Peter was right, and I just imagined it out of being scared; making me want to believe someone was watching over me…"
Sarah then started to pet her bunny as her thoughts deepened.
"After all, believing is seeing," Emma's voice echoed once again.
Having this in mind, Emma remembered the strange moments that happened. From Christmas Eve night, to seeing the mysterious figure in the forest, and even seeing the same figure in her dream; along with snowflakes emerging before she woke up.
"Maybe, if I just have one little sign, just so I can know for sure."
Sarah's eyes then widen, while a smile spread across her face.
"Yeah, it doesn't have to be big, just…something…..anything," her voice sinking to a whisper.
"Anything huh," Jack said to himself; thinking in what to do.
But sadly, before he could do anything, he heard his sister's voice.
Emma was calling out to Sarah and Peter, telling them that breakfast was ready. So, by the time Jack knew it, he saw that Sarah jumped out of her bed, put her pet in the cage, and ran down the hallway; more than likely going to wash up before heading downstairs to eat.
"….I lost my chance…" Jack said sadly.
"If I do anything now, it would be meaningless, she won't instantly remember the moment when she asked for a sign," Jack continued.
Jack then hopped inside her room and closed the window behind him.
"But…if I could do something that's personal, maybe creating something she likes, then I might have a chance."
With the idea set, Jack started examining Sarah's room, seeing if anything special sparked his interest. At first, the search seemed pointless, making him sad, but as soon as he came across a small drawer, Jack saw a small sketch book on top. His eyes widen with curiosity as he slowly took the book.
Once when Jack opened it, a smile instantly formed.
"So…she likes to draw, a future artist maybe," Jack said to himself; flipping through the pages.
The sketch book contained simple drawings, like a house with a setting sun, to different kinds of animals, and oddly to Jack, to different kinds of monster-like creatures. Seeing the monsters she drew, it puzzled Jack a little. It made him wonder, were the monsters from her imagination whenever she would be scared, or, was it because of something else?
"Hmm…does she even draw what she dreams?
No matter if it's a dream or a nightmare?" Jack wondered; still flipping.
Then, as he flipped through another picture, a certain one caught his attention. The drawing had a big tree in the center, along with different colored butterflies replacing the leaves. Along with this, the grass was green, covered with flowers, whiling the sky was plain blue.
As Jack was going to flip to another page, he saw that this drawing had a date.
"Huh, this drawing was done a few days ago, before my first visit," Jack said.
He then flipped the page and saw a white horse. At the top, it even displayed the horse's name.
"Aurora," he read.
"Hmm…the date says the drawing was done on Christmas day, but, the name for the horse looks like it was put later," Jack continued; examining it.
After another glance, Jack then closed the book and put it back.
"Hmm…she has quite of an imagination…" he uttered under his breath.
"Imagination…."
With the sudden word, it trigged something in Jack's mind.
Instantly, he remembered the Sand-man, along with the gold-sand he brings to create beautiful dreams for the children. Right there and then, Jack had an idea, after all, he always admired Sandy's work due to the imagination portrayed in the dreams.
Jack then turned to the window and smiled.
A vivid flashback of him touching the dream-sand played in his mind. Jack remembered when he made contact; the sand would form into something beautiful.
"I wonder if I could do what Sandy does…" he said; still looking at the window's surface.
As the day progressed, nothing really seemed to change. Peter and Sarah were having their fun as usual, while Jack and Emma would talk and catch up on a few things. For instance, Jack would talk about his early days when he would practice in how to use his powers, and Emma would talk about some happy points in her life that Jack wasn't around for. Hearing those things from his sister, it just made Jack sad deep down since he wasn't there to begin with. But no matter what, he kept up a smiling, since he didn't want to worry Emma.
Once when it was night-time, Jack said good-night to Emma and left; promising to return the next day. But, as his sister thought he had left, Jack went back to Sarah's window; wanting to see what she was doing.
As he opened the window slightly and looked inside, he saw that Emma recently tucked Sarah in; though unlike yesterday when she fell asleep instantly; today she just lied in bed with her eyes open, not being able to sleep.
"Hmm…for some reason I can't sleep," Sarah said out loud.
She then turned to the side and faced the cage; seeing that the bunny was asleep.
"Huh, I guess I'm the only one then," she continued.
She then turned her head again; facing the ceiling once more.
After the silence seemed endless to her, Sarah finally sat up on the bed.
"I guess I'll do the thing I do best when I can't sleep," she said happily to herself.
Without another word, Jack saw Sarah jump out of her bed and headed to the small drawer. He saw that she got the sketch book, and opened a small box, taking out a pencil. Having her material, Sarah then ran back and jumped on her bed; ready to draw.
As she opened her book, she then turned on her lamp, so she could see. Once when Sarah was flipping through the pages, the dream she had came back into her mind.
"Huh, that's the third time I have the same dream…" she uttered softly.
"Though, it's the first time I saw the figure…I wonder what that could mean?"
Sarah then got the pencil and flipped to the picture with the oak tree.
It wasn't very clear to Jack in what she possibly could be thinking, but he saw that she started to draw; adding another thing to the drawing. No doubt, it was the figure that Sarah was drawing, along with snowflakes.
"Mmm….Jack Frost?"
At this point, Jack thought it was time, frost started to form along the surface of the window. With the sudden presence, Sarah moved her eyes to the window, but her hand with the pencil was still on the paper.
"Do something she likes…" Jack thought; seeing the pencil and paper in Sarah's hands.
It was something Jack had never done, but he was willing to try. As he managed to get inside the room, he focused his attention to the window. With the concept of imagination in his mind, and seeing his finger as a pencil, while the window was his paper, Jack started to draw something over the frost; capturing Sarah's attention.
"Wha…?" she said; practically speechless.
Sarah then put her book to the side, and turned her body more to the window. What she saw, was a butterfly. Once when Jack was done, he then put his hand over the drawing, and with a little magical touch, similar to the Sand-man, (to what Jack likes to call it) the butterfly instantly came to life; slowly emerging out of the window.
"Wow," Sarah said; as she saw the butterfly hovering inches away from her face.
As the butterfly started to fly around the room; Sarah instantly became mesmerized. Pretty soon, more butterflies started to appear, flying around the room. To Sarah, the sight looked so beautiful and magical.
"It's…like the dream I had…" she said happily.
And to make it even more magical, Jack then created a small horse; similar to Sarah's drawing. Once when he was done, the horse came to life as well; flying towards Sarah.
Seeing this, Sarah cupped her hands together, and the horse landed on her palms.
"Oh, it's you," she said happily.
Though after a second, Sarah then became confused.
"But…but how?" she said; looking up at the butterflies.
Then, as if on cue, one butterfly burst into a few snowflakes; making them fall. As this was happening, one snowflake landed on Sarah's nose; making her feel like it was déjà vu.
"The figure…in the dream…" she thought; lowering her head.
Then, as more snowflakes started to fall from the ceiling; making it snow in Sarah's room, Sarah slowly looked up; with her eyes widen.
"Jack Frost." She said; finally seeing him.
With no words to say, Jack turned to her and smiled; his face inches away from hers.
As of now, everything seemed like a dream to both Jack and Sarah.
"You can see me?" Jack whispered.
