Roses of Ice
Chapter 6
SO SORRY PEOPLE! I've started losing interest in Inuyasha, and I forgot that people were actually reading what I was writing. I am SO SORRY.
But yea. I'll still update, it's just that Inuyasha is not the main focus of my anime world now, and it'll be hard to get back into writing it. I'll try, but don't be surprised if I talk about my running-headlong-into-solid-wall-of-diamond more often than not.
Again. So, so sorry! But thanks for sticking around and reviewing, though I'm sure there's other fan fictions worth your time. It's really inspired me to continue typing. So, anyway, thanks and read on.
Oh, and another thing. I've decided that Kagome won't have Dark and Elemental powers, but maybe one of each? Simply because I think that is a bit too much power, and people will get bored if she wins battles all the time, and they'll get narky if I make her make stupid mistakes just to add drama. Did that sentence make sense?
So yea, enjoy!
"My name is Kitty" -Speaking
My name is Kitty. – Thinking
My name is Kitty – Amaya thought-speaking
(My name is Kitty) – My random and useless interruptions.
It's funny, how running faster than most jets can clear your head. I thought of my family-my real one-and if they were still alive. If they were, were they looking for me? Or did they think I was gone, forever? Would they be glad to see me? Or would they be cautious of this new stranger, one who had grown up in a whole 'nother world?
Lost in my thoughts, I barely noticed that I had arrived at Totosai's until his three-eyed cow moo'd at me. Skidding to a halt comically, I grinned at the senile old man who stood with his back turned to me, hitting his hammer violently against a piece of metal.
"Totosai!" I called, and he turned around to look at me.
"Ah, Kagome! Nice to see you!" He replied, examining my new appearance. "I see the rumours were indeed true."
Wait a sec. How the hell did rumours fly around so fast? I mean, the only people who know are the gang, and Kagura. The gang's been with me the entire time, and I can't see Kagura gossiping to other demons over coffee.
Maybe some other demons found out and spread the news. A miko-gone-demon is a very big thing. Amaya pointed out.
True. But I'm not a demon.
They don't know that.
"Hi Totosai. Myoga said you had some weapons for me?" I asked. Totosai nodded. "Hold on. How did you know I needed weapons?"
"They was a note outside my cave. Didn't you know?" Totosai replied, scratching his head. I shook my head, and he fished something out of his shirt. Passing it to me, I saw it was a note.
Dear Totosai.
The miko, Kagome, from Inuyasha's group, has gone through a dire change, and will need weapons and battle armour. Please make her two twin katana, and the battle clothes. I have enclosed a rough sketch of this armour, and the materials needed to create it. Thank you.
At the bottom of the note was a symbol of a red rose on an intricate snowflake. The red paint of the rose dripped slightly, giving off a strange impression of blood. I flicked through, but there was no sketches. Totosai must have kept them.
"Do you mind if I keep this?" I asked. I would need to show it to the others to see what they thought of it. Totosai gave his consent, and lead me to the back of the cave.
"I named these two swords Tōmin and Akumu." Totosai commented as he picked up two elegant swords. I blinked.
Winter sleep and Nightmare. Odd names for a sword.
Totosai barely shows it, but he has his ways of finding knowledge unknown to most. He may have reasons for naming the swords like that.
I nodded, and held the first sword. Tōmin, or Winter Sleep. It had an almost peaceful aura to it, and I felt almost reluctant to fight with it. It's scabbard was black, with gentle, white snowflakes drifting downwards. I drew the sword, and admired it's make. The handle was made of some white metal-platinum, according to Totosai-and dark blue fabric was wrapped around the hilt. The blade was clear, like glass, and I spotted small snowflakes encased in it.
The second sword, Akumu, or Nightmare, felt the exact opposite. The minute I laid hands on it, I felt the urge to run and kill something, anything. I had to physically strain against finding a demon to kill. It's scabbard was also black, but dark purple and red glitter was draped menacing against it. It reminded me of the movie Souta made me watch, the Rise of the Guardians, and the nightmare sand the bad guy used. Or maybe it was just the name that made the movie occur to me.
The blade was again, like glass, but it was stained dark-almost black-red and the same purple glitter-sand stuff shone from inside. The black metal hilt had dark purple fabric wrapped around it, and I ran my hands down the blade. When I held both katana in my hand, the two opposing auras collided throughout my body, creating a strange, dizzying feeling.
I stumbled, and would have fallen in Totosai hadn't caught me.
"That will happen for a while. The calming aura in Tōmin is supposed to give you a clear mind and level-headedness, but paired with the evil bloodlust of Akumu , it will be dizzying the first few times you use them." Totosai explained. I nodded, and allowed him to take the two swords and lead me to the armour he created.
It was a strapless, skin-tight, black outfit, that reached down to my calf, with a sweetheart neckline. Along the right rib was a pattern of snowflakes and swirls of that dark glitter. The shoes were simply black fabric held together by white string. The fingerless gloves were made the same way. There was a hole in the back of the outfit for my tails, and Totosai provided my with a black scarf to tie around my mouth, ninja-style, though I had no idea why.
I dressed in it, and found the fabric to be skin-tight but stretchy, hugging but not uncomfortable. It moulded to my body like a second skin, and I felt almost naked. I tied the necklace Kara had given me around my neck, and tucked the jewel shards into my shoes. My hair was flapping in my face, so I tied it up with white string into a ponytail.
Tōmin and Akumu were slung over my back, arranged so I could grasp them easily and quickly in battle. With a swift thank-you to Totosai, I slipped out the cave entrance and went sprinting back to Kaede's, eager to show off my new weapons.
Okay, I know everyone hates Author's Notes, but this is important.
Again, so sorry. I know this chapter is short, but again, I've lost interest in Inuyasha, which means I'll need plenty of help thinking of inspiration. Like last chapter, the details of Kagura's children have not been decided, so please review and give me some ideas.
There will be no set date for chapter updates, what with school, writers block and other annoying set backs. But I will type faster and update faster if people give me ideas. I don't like planning, so this entire story is just being winged. The only storyline I have is in the summary, so yea. Please give me ideas, and I promise to make it worth your time.
Another thing. If you like the music ideas that I randomly throw in there, I was thinking of putting one song in per chapter. I recently read a story like that, and that gave me a new favourite band (Linkin Park) so if you want me to throw in music every now and again, please tell.
