Chapter 11: Suspicions

It was never easy for Jazz to break away from her frantic schedule, even if it was just for a moment. Since Danny had gone ghost fighting again with her father, Danny had to serve an after-school detention. And in order to save money on gas, Jazz was ordered to stay at the school and wait for Danny's detention to finish so that she could drive them both home.
Jazz looked at her watch. It was way past when she and Vlad agreed to meet and Danny still had fifteen minutes of detention left. She felt like cursing Danny, but then again the only reason she was meeting Vlad in the first place was for Danny. So why did it bother her so much if Danny made her late for Danny's thing?

"...Stupid Danny, it's like my life revolves around you now." Jazz muttered; just quiet enough for nobody, but herself to hear. It wasn't like it matter though. Nobody was around to hear her anyway. She was rested upon a bench outside of Danny's classroom. Her back backpack rested beside her. 'Well,' she thought reluctantly, 'if I've got to wait here anyway, I may as well take advantage of the time by doing some of my homework.'

Jazz took out her Math book. As she worked, her mind wandered back to her encounter with Vlad. Why did he want to meet in an abandon alleyway? Her father was usually more than happy to welcome his friend Vlad into the house. Of course, Vlad would have to be in his human form, and it may seem kind of odd if Vlad suddenly asked Jack if he could talk with his daughter in private. Danny's ghost-half could go through walls. Couldn't Vlad? Jazz supposed even if Vlad went through the wall and appeared in a room with just the two of them, there was still a risk of someone overhearing their conversation. Maybe the abandon alleyway really was the best meeting place.

Jazz went through a few more of her Math questions and when her mind couldn't solve for X any longer, she decided to get up and stretch her legs. The library was open so she went in, hoping to find a book to read while she waited. Instead, the news paper on the librarian's desk caught Jazz's eye. The headline was titled: Billionaire Vlad Masters goes into Hiding.
