Smith and Jones
)0(
Jordan sighed as she closed her phone with a snap and looked up at the heavy storm clouds that had gathered over the top of Royal Hope Hospital.
"Why me?" Jordan muttered as she dodged around a couple of inbound patients and wandered through the doors. "Just 'cos the Major hates Tory gives him no reason to take it out on me when she's gone off somewhere!" Jordan sighed again and skimmed over the hospital map on the wall, "I know absolutely nothing about strange energy signals; what the hell am I supposed to do if I do find something, huh?" This wasn't the first time Jordan had had this rant and it certainly wouldn't be the last, Jordan saw no point in this mission; what could possibly happen in a HOSPITAL?!
An older man in a suit followed by a small crowd of medical students in white coats walked through the lobby and straight through her path to the lifts.
"Hippocrates himself," the older man was speaking, "expounded on the virtues of salt. Recommended the inhalation of steam from sea water. Though no doubt if he'd been afflicted with my students, results might have been rather more colourful."
"Might as well start somewhere." Jordan grumbled following the last student through the door as she paused and glanced back at two leather clad men stepped out near the lift.
They walked into a new ward, Jordan following at a discrete distance.
"Now then," the older man spoke to the man in the bed, "Mr Smith, a very good morning to you. How are you today?"
"Aw, not so bad, still a bit, you know. Blah." Jordan closed her eyes and tried to stay calm; the Doctor was lying in that hospital bed. THE DOCTOR! He didn't have backup, he didn't have fake medical records! If ANYONE did ANYTHING to him that reacted badly to his physiology…..
Jordan banged her head against the wall in frustration.
"John Smith," the older man was speaking again, "admitted yesterday with severe abdominal pains. Jones, why don't you see what you can find? Amaze me."
"That wasn't very clever," Jones spoke as she moved to the front of the group, "running around outside, was it?"
"Sorry?" the Doctor frowned.
"On Chancery Street this morning." Jones explained, "You came up to me and took your tie off."
"Really? What did I do that for?"
"I don't know, you just did." Jones answered.
"Not me." The Doctor shrugged, "I was here, in bed. Ask the nurses."
"Well, that's weird, cause it looked like you. Have you got a brother?" Jones asked.
"No, not anymore." The Doctor answered casually, "Just me."
"As time passes and I grow ever more infirm and weary, Miss Jones." The older man interjected.
"Sorry." She apologised, "Right." Jones was just about to put the stethoscope to the Doctor's chest when Jordan shoved her out of the way.
"You stupid man!" Jordan yelled at him.
"Jordan!"
"What the hell are you thinking?!" Jordan demanded, "Do you realise how much paper work you been here is going to make?! As if I didn't have enough to do already! And Tory!" everyone saw the Doctor flinch, "She's gonna have both our arses!"
"Excuse me!" the older man snapped, "Who are you? And what on Earth gives you the right to yell at my patients?!" Jordan turned and glared at him before making an 'I'm watching you' gesture at the Doctor and storming out of the room.
"Well," the Doctor muttered, "That was fun."
)0(
Jordan walked away from the room calmly, hoping her distraction was enough to keep Miss Jones from trying to do anything to the Doctor.
"Well," Jordan muttered to herself, "back to work."
Unfortunately if the Doctor was there it meant that something was going on in the hospital and that meant that Jordan would have to stay until she worked out what it was and how to fix it, that was, if the Doctor didn't get there first.
)0(
Jordan sat in the cafeteria of the hospital at a loss holding her cup of tea in both hands and watching the rain out of the window.
She hadn't found anything even remotely alien other than the Doctor and well did he really count? He was probably there for the same reason she was either way; strange energy readings. Jordan glanced out of the window and froze. The rain….was going up?
"Oh, that can't be good." The building started to shake and Jordan was tossed to the side, the other people in the room screamed as they were all tossed around. There was a flash of bright light and then nothing.
Jordan stood slowly.
"Why's it dark out?!" a man demanded moving towards one of the windows. He stopped and just stared at whatever was out there before turning away, walking to a corner and curling himself into a ball.
Jordan looked between the man and the window before slowly making her way over.
Outside was incredible, the surface of the moon and in the distance the Earth. People behind Jordan started to panic as they realised just where they were.
Jordan rolled her eyes and moved away from the noise and out into the corridor, it was probably just an illusion anyway. She pulled out her 'super phone' courtesy of the Doctor, refusing to take her eyes off the landscape in front of her, and dialled Tory's number.
"Hello?" Jordan could barely hear Tory over the music in the background.
"Tory?!"
"Jordan!" Tory yelled back, "Give us a mo!" there was the sounds of Tory apologising to someone and then the music got quieter as she moved away. "Okay, I can hear you now."
"Where were you?" Jordan asked, curious and slightly amused.
"Oh, I'm with Casanova. Did you know that the Doctor owes him a chicken?"
"Really?"
"Yeah, it's a really funny story actually-"
Jordan cut over her.
"Listen T, I would love to hear it, I really would, but I've got a bit of an issue."
"Tell me then!"
"I seem to be on the moon."
Silence.
"Tell me everything!" Tory ordered.
So Jordan did.
"Okay," Tory was muttering down the phone, "I'll pick up some extra tanks of oxygen from somewhere and then come up and join you. You go find the Doctor, he'll be trying to find out why you all haven't suffocated yet, look for a balcony of some type. And tell him I'll be there soon. Good luck Jordan." Tory ended the call.
Jordan closed her phone and walked back up the corridor to the stairs, the Doctor would hopefully be on the same floor as before and if not, well, she was going to be doing a LOT of walking.
)0(
"Found you!" Jordan cried triumphantly as she spotted the Doctor and Miss Jones on one of the patients' lounge balconies.
"Jordan!" the Doctor grinned at her, "Where's Tory?"
"Hold your horses lover boy, she's getting some more oxygen tanks then joining us." Jordan turned to Miss Jones. "Jordan Mason, special Agent with U.N.I.T." she flashed her ID.
"Martha Jones, medical student." She replied before turning back to the Doctor, "What do you think happened?"
"What do you think?" he asked her.
"Extraterrestrial." Martha decided, "It's got to be. I don't know, a few years ago that would have sounded man, but these days? That spaceship flying into Big Ben, Christmas, those Cybermen things. I had a cousin. Adeola. She worked at Canary Wharf. She never came home."
"I'm sorry." Jordan offered.
"Yeah."
"I was there." The Doctor added, "In the battle."
"I promise you, Mr Smith, Agent Mason, we will find a way out. If we can travel to the moon, then we can travel back. There's got to be a way."
"It's not Smith," the Doctor told her, "that's not my real name."
"Who are you, then?" Martha asked.
"I'm the Doctor."
"Me too, if I can pass my exams. What is it, then, Doctor Smith?"
"Just the Doctor."
"How do you mean, just the Doctor?" Martha questioned.
"Just... the Doctor." He shrugged; it was his name what could he do?
"What, people call you "the Doctor"?"
"Yep." Jordan chimed in.
"Well, I'm not." Martha answered, "As far as I'm concerned, you've got to earn that title."
"Well, I'd better make a start, then. Let's have a look." He picked up a pebble and threw it over the balcony, it flew a small distance before hitting an invisible barrier and bouncing away, "There must be some sort of force field keeping the air in."
"If that's like a bubble sealing us in, that means this is the only air we've got. What happens when it runs out?" Martha asked desperately.
"How many people in this hospital?" the Doctor asked darkly.
"I don't know, a thousand?"
"One thousand people." He answered, "Suffocating."
"I'll tell Tory to hurry up." Jordan pulled out her phone and sent a quick text.
"Why would anyone do that?" Martha demanded.
"Head's up!" the Doctor shouted over the rumbling noise caused by three cylinder shaped, black coloured ships flew over them, "Ask them yourself."
"Aliens. That's aliens. Real, proper aliens." Martha was in shock.
"Judoon." The Doctor announced.
They stared as the ships landed near the front of the hospital.
Tory walked onto the balcony behind them.
"Can't leave either of you alone for more than five seconds can I?" she complained making the other three jump.
"Tory!" The Doctor moved over to her and pulled her into his arms.
"Hey." She kissed him on the cheek before pulling away to hug Jordan and introduce herself to Martha.
"Let's go down to the entrance." Jordan suggested as the Judoon started making their way over from their ships, "See if we can work out what they're up to."
)0(
The Doctor, Tory, Jordan and Martha were all hiding on the upper level behind a potted plant when the crowd of humans below them started to scream and run into hiding spots beneath them, behind chairs and around corners.
The Judoon stormed in and spread out through the room. The Judoon stepped forwards and removed its helmet showing it to have the head of a rhino.
"Bo sco fo do no kro blo co sho ro!" it shouted.
One of Martha's fellow medical students pushed through the soldiers and right up to the leader.
"We are citizens of planet earth." He spoke, "We welcome you in peace." The chief Judoon pushed him against the wall and shined a blue light in his face, "Please don't hurt me, I was just trying to help, I'm sorry, don't hurt me, please don't hurt me." The Judoon pulled back slightly and played back the words on the device before placing it in a red hole in the centre of his chest.
"Language assimilated." It spoke, "Designation Earth English. You will be catalogued." He shined the blue light in his face again and after a minute he marked a cross on the back of his hand, "Category: human. Catalogue all suspects." The Judoon spread across the room, checking their species, and then marking the right hand of each human with a cross, saying "Human" as they do.
"Oh, look down there," the Doctor whispered, "you've got a little shop. I like a little shop." Tory sighed behind him and Jordan laughed at her silently.
"Never mind that!" Martha snapped, "What are Judoon?"
"Space Rhino's by the looks of things." Jordan muttered.
"Galactic police." The Doctor corrected, "Well, police for hire. More like interplanetary thugs."
"And they brought us to the moon?" Martha checked.
"Neutral territory." The Doctor explained, "According to galactic law, they've got no jurisdiction over the Earth, and they isolated us. That rain? Lightning? That was them, using an H2O scoop."
"What's that about "galactic law"?" Martha laughed, "Where'd you get that from?" suddenly she became more serious, "If they're police, are we under arrest? Are we trespassing on the moon or something?"
"No. But I like that. Good thinking." He complimented, "No, it's more simple. They're making a catalogue, it means they're after something non-human, which is very bad news for me." He glanced back at Tory who shrugged; she didn't know if she'd register as human or non-human.
"Why?" Martha questioned, the Doctor just looked at her, "Oh, you're kidding me." He raised an eyebrow, "Don't be ridiculous. Stop looking at me like that."
"Come on, then." He stood and held out his hand to Tory. Tory took it and the four of them snuck away.
)0(
They went into an office, the Doctor wanting to try and find something on the computer. Martha left after saying that she would check the Judoon's progress.
Jordan was leaning on the wall beside the door, fiddling with her phone.
Tory was standing over the Doctor's shoulder as he sat in front of a computer trying to get into its systems and was offering her TARDIS hacking abilities to the cause.
"They've reached third floor." Martha announced as she entered the room, "What's that thing?" she asked spotting the sonic screwdriver.
"Sonic screwdriver." The Doctor answered.
"Well, if you're not going to answer me properly!"
"No, really, it is. It's a screwdriver, and it's sonic. Look." He held it out to her like a child wanting his mother's approval.
"What else have you got?" Martha teased, "A laser spanner?"
"I did," he agreed, missing the teasing, "but it was stolen by Emily Pankhurst, cheeky woman." He hit the computer, "Oh, this computer! The Judoon must have locked it down." He paused and ran his hand through his hair, "Judoon platoon upon the moon." He turned to Martha, "Cause I was just travelling past, I swear, I was just wandering, I wasn't looking for trouble, honestly, I wasn't, but I noticed these plasma coils around the hospital, and that lightning, that's plasma coils, been building up for two days now, so I checked in, I thought something was going on inside, it turns out the plasma coils were the Judoon up above."
"But what were they looking for?" Martha asked.
"Something that looks human, but isn't." the Doctor answered.
"Like you. Apparently." Martha commented.
"Yes." Tory answered, "Like us but not us."
"Us?" Jordan spoke up, "Do you even show up as non-human?" Tory frowned.
"I don't know." She turned to the Doctor. He continued to stare at the computer screen as he turned his hand to scan her with the sonic.
"One life sign, non-human." The Doctor kept his voice even as he spoke; he had hoped her sickness from Christmas meant she was pregnant but…...one life sign.
"We can't get scanned then." Tory gestured between the two of them.
"Haven't they got a photo?" Martha asked, ignoring the whole 'not human' idea.
"Might be a shape-changer." Jordan suggested with a shrug, moving to stand at Martha's side.
"Whatever it is, can't you just leave the Judoon to find it?" Martha suggested.
"If they declare the hospital guilty of harbouring a fugitive, they'll sentence it to execution." The Doctor explained darkly.
"All of us?"
"Oh yes. If I can find this thing first..." the computer screen went blank and then filled with empty records, "Oh! Just that they're thick! Judoon are thick! They are completely thick! They wiped the records. Oh, that's clever." He moaned.
"What are we looking for?" Jordan asked.
"I don't know." The Doctor answered as Tory took the sonic and held it to the back of the computer, "Any patient admitted in the past week with unusual symptoms." He turned his attention back to the computer, "Maybe there's a back-up."
"Just keep working." Martha ordered, "I'll go ask Mr Stoker, he might know."
"I'll go with you." Martha nodded and Jordan followed her out of the room.
)0(
"So," Tory spoke a few seconds after the door had shut behind Martha and Jordan, "Is she your new companion?"
"Nah, I'm still on my own."
"Oh." She put down the piece of the hard drive she had in her hands, "Donna didn't want to go with you?"
"No, no, she's fine though; travelling the world." The Doctor smiled as he remembered the feisty red-head.
"Martha's rather pretty isn't she?" Tory asked suddenly.
The Doctor stopped sonicing and turned to face her. Tory kept her eyes pointed away from him.
"I guess, I wasn't really looking." He answered slowly. "Are you okay Tory?"
"What?" she jerked up to look him in the eye, "I'm fine!"
"It's just you're acting a little odd….." he trailed off, "Hang on, are you jealous?" Tory didn't answer, "Oh Tory, It's you I…" he stopped.
"Yeah?" Tory met his gaze and smiled at him, "No second thoughts?"
"Never!" he insisted.
Tory smiled at him.
"Thank you."
He held out his arms and she moved into them, resting her head on his chest, and enjoying the double beat of his hearts. He rested his cheek on the top of her head. They stood in silence for a moment, letting the bare skin of Tory's forehead and the skin of his neck open the bond between them. They let the feelings flow until the computer behind them beeped.
The pair separated and turned to the machine; the backup was restored.
"Let's go find the others." The Doctor suggested, taking Tory's hand and leading her out of the room.
)0(
"You know," the Doctor spoke up as he and Tory wound around the humans lining the hospital corridors, "If you're worried about Martha you could always come with me." She pulled him to a stop by the sleeve of his blue suit.
"I can't."
"Oh, well, right. That's fine…."
"Shut up and let me explain." Tory interrupted, "I can't because I have a mission from U.N.I.T. that I need to do first."
"Oh."
"I can go with you after that." She offered, "If the offer still stands."
"Always." He promised with a grin, "Where is this mission anyway?"
"London 1599," Tory explained, "I'm going to investigate some reports."
"What reports?" he asked curiously.
"I can't tell you." She wrinkled her nose in distaste.
"Why?"
"I can't tell you." She grinned this time, "You might cause trouble."
"Me?" he teased, "Cause trouble? Never!" he winked.
Tory giggled at him.
"Come on." She took his hand and pulled him down the corridor, "Let's go find our humans."
)0(
The Doctor and Tory spotted Martha and Jordan running towards them. The two humans skidded to a stop in front of them.
"We've restored the back-up." The Doctor told them proudly.
"We've found her." Martha panted while Jordan nodded frantically at her side.
"You what?" Tory demanded before seeing another running figure over the humans shoulders; it was man shaped but dressed completely in leather with a motorcycle helmet on its head. Tory transmitted her shock and worry down the bond, prompting the Doctor to look at what she was seeing.
"Run!" he yelled, turning and grabbing Martha's hand while Tory let go of him and started running ahead.
They ran to the end of the floor and down one flight of stairs only to be met with the Judoon coming up the next flight. Tory dodged them and darted through the door to the fourth floor.
Jordan sped up her pace and over took Tory leading the way down another set of corridors as the leather clad thing got closer behind them.
"In here!" the Doctor yelled as he stopped outside the radiology room. He caught Martha in his arms as she skidded to a stop and pushed her inside, Jordan and Tory dived in followed by the Doctor who slammed the door shut and soniced the lock.
"When I say "now", press the button." He ordered Martha as he helped Tory and Jordan to their feet before shoving them safely behind the protective glass barrier.
"I don't know which one." Martha cried.
"Find out!" he yelled back before using the sonic on the overhanging x-ray machine. Martha looked around the small space behind the glass barrier desperately before spotting the Operator's Manual and pulling it from the shelf.
The Doctor pushed the sonic into a round hole on the side of the machine just as the 'thing' broke down the door.
"Now!" he yelled. Martha tossed the manual to the side and slammed her hand down on a giant yellow button. The machine activated and filled the room with radiation, killing the 'thing' and showing the Doctor's skeleton. The 'thing' fell to the floor, dead.
"What did you do?" Jordan asked staying behind the glass with Martha and Tory.
"Increased the radiation by five thousand per cent." The Doctor explained, "Killed him dead."
"Isn't that likely to kill you?" Martha asked.
"Nah, it's only radiation." He waved her concern off, "We used to play with roentgen bricks in the nursery. It's safe for you to come out, I've absorbed it all." The three women made their way out slowly, moved around the Doctor and ended up facing his with their backs to the broken door. "All I need to do is expel it." He explained as he started to bounce and hop, "If I concentrate I can shake the radiation out of my body and into one spot." He started hopping on his right foot, "It's in my left shoe. Here we go, here we go, easy does it..." he shook his foot, "Out, out, out, out, out. Out, out, ah, ah, ah, ah. It is, it is, it is, it is, it is hot. Ah, hold on." He pulled his shoe and sock off in one move and threw them in a dustbin. "Done."
"You're completely mad." Martha stared at him.
"You're right." He agreed, "I look daft with one shoe." He removed and threw away the other one, "Barefoot on the moon!" Tory giggled at him and Jordan rolled her eyes while Martha chose to ignore him and moved to the 'thing' kneeling beside it.
"So what is that thing?" she questioned, "And where's it from? The planet Zovirax?"
"It's just a Slab." He said kneeling on the other side of the slab, "They're called "Slabs". Basic slave drones, see?" he pushed down on its arm which gave way easily, "Solid leather, all the way through."
Jordan laughed.
"Oh my god, someone has got one hell of a fetish." Tory sighed as Jordan continued to chuckle.
"It came with that woman, Mrs. Finnegan." Martha explained, looking to Jordan for backup, "It was working for her. Just like a servant." The Doctor had stood up while she was speaking and moved over to the x-ray machine and pulled the burnt remains of his sonic screwdriver from it.
"My sonic screwdriver." The Doctor exclaimed shocked and slightly sad.
"She was one of the patients, but..." Martha was still explaining.
"My sonic screwdriver!" he muttered, holding it out to show Jordan and Tory.
"She had a straw like some kind of vampire."
"I loved my sonic screwdriver!"
"Doctor!" Martha snapped.
"Sorry." He tossed the sonic over his shoulder where it landed with a heavy sounding clang before smiling, "You called me Doctor."
"Anyway!" Martha sighed, "Miss Finnegan is the alien. She was drinking Mr. Stoker's blood."
"Funny time to take a snack." The Doctor commented, "You'd think she'd be hiding. Unless, no. Yes, that's it, wait a minute. Yes! Shape-changer. Internal shape-changer. She wasn't drinking blood, she was assimilating it."
"So she really is a vampire?" Jordan asked extremely interested.
"No." Tory explained, "It would be cool if she was though, she drinks blood and her appearance remains the shame while her insides change to mimic the insides of whatever creature she just drank."
"Oh…." Jordan paused before shaking her head, "Vampire."
Tory sighed by wisely gave up the argument.
"If she can assimilate Mr Stoker's blood, mimic the morphology, she can register as human." The Doctor realised, "We've got to find her and show the Judoon. Come on!" he led the way out of the room, running.
"Always with the running." Jordan sighed as Tory yanked her out of the room, Martha laughing quietly behind them.
)0(
The Doctor and Martha were hiding behind a water cooler, with Tory and Jordan behind them around the next corner, as another Slab walked past the end of the corridor.
"That's the thing about Slabs." The Doctor muttered, "They always travel in pairs."
"What about you?" Martha asked.
"What about me what?"
"Haven't you got back-up? Other than Jordan and Tory I mean. You must have a partner or something?"
"Uh. Humans. We're stuck on the moon running out of air with Judoon and a bloodsucking criminal, you're asking personal questions. Come on." He stood, waited for Tory and Jordan to catch up to them and walked to the end of the corridor.
"I like that. "Humans."" Martha snorted, "I'm still not convinced you're an alien."
They stepped out into the corridor, the Doctor ending up right in front of a Judoon scanner.
"Non-human."
"Oh my God, you really are!" Martha cried.
"And again!" he grabbed her hand and ran down the corridor, the Judoon shooting after them and the pair ducking only just in time.
Jordan and Tory shared a glance as the Judoon ran passed them, too concerned with the non-human to bother with them.
"Well," Jordan asked, "What now?"
Tory sighed.
"We have to find him obviously."
"Obviously." Jordan agreed.
"Then we stop the evil alien."
"Vampire alien." Jordan corrected, pulling a bag of Skittles from her pocket and handing them to Tory.
"Chocolate spread?" Tory asked hopefully as she opened the packet.
"Not on your life; we don't need you on a sugar high." Jordan shuddered theatrically before becoming serious, "I just thought you might need the energy if we end up having to fight."
"You have a point." Tory agreed with a grimace, "Hey! I'll make you a bet if the alien turns out to be a space vampire I won't bug you about the chocolate spread but if it isn't you give it to me."
"Deal! So how are we gonna find the Doctor?" Jordan questioned as they started moving again.
"Well, from what I've seen the Judoon are logical and just a little bit thick so they won't think to check a floor they've already done."
"So you're thinking that the Doctor will try to hide there?"
"Yeah." Tory confirmed.
"Let's go then." The pair walked off to the staircase.
)0(
Martha panted as they finally stopped running, the Doctor locking a door the conventional way after losing his sonic whatsit earlier.
"They've done this floor." He explained, "Come on. The Judoon are logical and just a little bit thick. They won't go back to check a floor they've checked already. If we're lucky."
"What about Jordan and Tory?" Martha asked as the started walking down the corridor.
"They're both trained professionals and Tory has more than one trick up her sleeve."
"That doesn't stop you worrying though." Martha pointed out.
"No." he agreed, "No it doesn't."
Martha stopped as she spotted her friend Swales, the one the Doctor had told her to leave behind, giving patient oxygen.
"How much oxygen is there?" she asked kneeling down beside her while the Doctor waited, keeping watch.
"More than we expected," Swales answered, "but still not enough for all these people. We're going to run out." Martha stood back up.
"How are you feeling? Are you all right?" the Doctor checked.
"I'm running on adrenaline."
"Welcome to my world." He grinned at her.
"What about the Judoon?"
"Ah, great big lung reserves, it won't slow them down. Where's Mr Stoker's office?" he asked as he glanced around.
"It's this way." She walked passed him and led him down a side corridor. They stepped over the broken door and walked inside.
"She's gone! She was here." Martha defended as the Doctor walked over to a pale Mr Stoker who as lying on the floor, eyes wide.
"Drained him dry." The Doctor spoke, "Every last drop. I was right. She's a plasmavore."
"Not a space vampire?" Jordan moaned from the door, "Damn." She pulled a jar of chocolate spread out of her pocket, "You're lucky these are your jeans I'm wearing," she told Tory over her shoulder, "That never would have fit in their otherwise."
"I know." Tory took the jar and placed it inside her own bigger-on-the-inside pocket.
"Tory!" the Doctor stood and moved to her side, pulling her into a sideways hug and planting a kiss on her forehead. Tory smiled up at him.
"So what's the not space-pire doing on Earth?" Jordan questioned as she looked around the room again.
"Space-pire?" the Doctor mouthed at Tory as he let go off her. Tory shrugged. "Hiding." He spoke aloud this time, "On the run. Like Ronald Biggs in Rio de Janeiro. What's she doing now? She's still not safe. The Judoon could execute us all. Come on." He started out the door.
"Wait a minute." Martha walked to Mr Stoker and closed his eyes before following the Doctor out of the door.
Outside in the corridor they stopped again.
"Think, think, think. If I was a plasmavore surrounded by police, what would I do?" he looked at the opposite wall for a moment, spotting a sign for the MRI, "Aah. She's as clever as me. Almost."
"Find the non-human." A Judoon voice came up the corridor, "Execute."
"That's not good." Tory muttered.
"Stay here." The Doctor ordered, turning to Martha and Jordan, "We need time. You're going to have to hold them up."
"How do we do that?" Martha demanded.
"Martha, forgive me for this. It's to save a thousand lives, it means nothing. Honestly, nothing." He grabbed her face and kissed her before running in the direction of the MRI.
Tory glared at the stunned Martha, Meridian Particles flaring in response to the kiss.
"That was nothing?" Martha asked, slightly dazed.
"Yes." Tory snapped before turning to Jordan.
"You're not going to kiss me are you?" Jordan asked, ignoring the approaching Judoon.
"Well I thought about it," Tory teased before realising just how close the Judoon were, "we don't have the time for this." She leapt forward and licked up the side of Jordan's face before turning and darting after the Doctor.
)0(
The Doctor was waiting outside the MRI room for Tory.
"I need you to wait here." Tory crossed her arms and waited for him to explain, "I have a plan but it has some risk."
"I can take care of myself." Tory snapped, insulted and angry that he had kissed Martha even if it was unavoidable.
"I know," he soothed, rubbing his hands up and down her upper arms, "but if you kill her before the Judoon get to her then they kill us."
"And why would I kill her?" Tory questioned.
"Because she's going to drink my blood." Tory twitched. "It'll make the Judoon see her as non-human on the scanners," he started to explain before Tory held a hand in his face to shut him up.
"I know," she sighed, "I know." She lowered her hand and looked up at him, "Just don't….don't get dead ok?"
"Promise." She reached up and kissed him, letting his tongue enter her mouth and claimed her as his, their bond opening wide and letting him feel her trepidation and sent her a wave of comfort. She pulled back with a small smile and pushed him through the door.
Tory sighed again as she stared at the door where she could almost hear the Doctor's voice coming back to her.
)0(
Tory heard the Judoon coming before she saw them and darted away from the MRI room and around the corner. She watched as they marched into the room, breaking down the door in the process, and waved at Jordan when she spotted her and Martha jogging behind the massive aliens.
Jordan recognised her and moved away from the group, letting Martha go inside alone.
"The Judoon gave me compensation." Jordan handed over a slip of paper, "You'll be taking me to collect that."
"Will I?"
"Yes! It was your fault I had to go through it in the first place!"
"Okay! Okay!" Tory held up her hands in surrender.
"Why aren't we going inside?" Jordan asked after a minute of silence and struggling to understand the Judoon voices that carried out into the hall.
"They might still try and scan me." Tory answered at a whisper as the Judoon started pouring out of the room again.
"Right."
The pair waited until the last Judoon was out of sight before running into the MRI room.
"You can't go." Martha moved passed them out of the room and screamed down the hall at the Judoon, "That thing's going to explode and it's all your fault."
Tory stood and stared, frozen, at the sight of an extremely pale Doctor lying on the floor, a straw shaped mark on his neck.
Jordan darted forwards and started doing compressions on his chest.
"One, Two, come on you idiot, three, don't you dare leave her like this! Five." She took a deep breath and then gave him mouth to mouth.
The MRI scanner sparked.
Martha hit the ground as she fainted from lack of air.
"One, two, three, four, five." Jordan gasped out before realising, "Two hearts!" she did compressions on both sides of his chest. The Doctor started to cough just as Jordan's body shut down.
Tory darted forwards caught her before she fell and lowered her gently to the ground.
"She did something to the scanner!" Tory gasped out before grabbing Jordan and vanishing in a flash of silver Meridian Particles.

Later that day
Jordan watched Tory fuss over her in amusement. They were back in their flat, the hospital was back where it belonged and Tory was due to leave any second and just wouldn't stop her fussing!
"I'm fine!" Jordan tried to reassure her for what felt like the thousandth time.
Tory just glared at her as she pulled the blanket up to Jordan's chin.
"Really!" Jordan insisted, "Perfectly healthy; all the doctors say so."
Tory stepped back and away.
"If you say so." She muttered.
"Mission." Jordan ordered, "Go!"
"But!"
Jordan raised a single eyebrow.
"Fine." Tory sighed, "But you call me the second something goes wrong are we clear?"
"Yes ma'am!"
Tory lent forwards and gave Jordan a quick hug before stepping back and vanishing in a flash of silver.
