Tension in the Air
Haruka's eyes fluttered open but they immediately fell closed again. He was still extremely tired but he fought hard to keep his oceanic eyes open. When he turned his head, he noticed that his bed was empty, save for himself. He groaned and rolled to his side, his body feeling like he had run a marathon. Haruka reached out for the empty spot beside him and he noted that it was still a bit warm so Makoto must've just gotten up. Haruka wanted to stay in his bed but his body yearned for the olive-haired male. He wanted to be around Makoto, card his fingers through those cinnamon coloured strands, look into those emerald gems and drown a little. He simply wanted to be with Makoto.
With a heavy sigh, he rose from the bed and trudged towards his door with soft footsteps. Haruka had no idea whether Rin was still in his house and a part of him wished the redhead was gone by now. He had shared Makoto enough now and Haruka just wanted some alone-time with the olive-haired male. Not that he hadn't enjoyed his time with Rin because frankly, it was the most amazing experience of his life. Making love not only to one person but with two was something Haruka had never even dared to dream of. He was sexually attracted to the redhead but he didn't share the same connection as he had with Makoto. To Haruka, Makoto would always be the one and only.
When Haruka walked down the stairs, he strained his ears to hear the faintest bit of sound but it seemed that the entire house was quiet. Normally, Makoto would always make some kind of noise, whether it was by cleaning up or with something else. The olive-haired male hated silence so he would always turn on the radio or the TV as to not feel so alone. When Haruka glanced in his living room, he saw Makoto sitting down, eyes closed and he looked extremely appealing to Haruka. The boy was only wearing a pair of sweatpants and Haruka licked his lips as his gaze darted over Makoto's glorious torso. When Haruka was done appreciating the fine sight that he was allowed to call his boyfriend, he stepped closer towards Makoto. Haruka noted that the boy was listening to music as his head swayed softly in synchronisation with the beat. Haruka smiled a small smile and he took a seat next to Makoto, immediately leaning against the olive-haired male so that he could rest his head against Makoto's shoulder. Haruka cracked open one of his sparkling sapphire gems but when Makoto kept his eyes closed, Haruka was slightly thrown off. It wasn't often that he was ignored by the olive-haired male.
Haruka sighed softly and then he nuzzled his nose against Makoto's neck, hoping that this would spur the boy into action. However, Makoto continued to ignore Haruka and the raven-haired male blinked a few times. He felt an odd sensation flow through his body and Haruka didn't like it one bit. Haruka worried at his bottom lip and he slipped his fingers around the cord of the ear buds. One of the ear buds popped out and it was then that Makoto turned to face him. Makoto's eyes regarded him with a look of annoyance and Haruka gulped down the heavy lump in his throat. He wanted to ask what was wrong but somehow the words seemed to be stuck in his throat. Perhaps Makoto was angry for being forced into the love-making with Rin. Or maybe, Haruka hadn't pleased Makoto enough….
Makoto closed his eyes again and he picked up the bud again to put it back where it belonged. Not a word had been said and Haruka honestly didn't like the way Makoto was behaving. It seemed that the olive-haired male wanted to be alone and Haruka hadn't the foggiest idea of why the boy wanted alone-time. Haruka had envisioned them cuddling on the couch while watching a movie or something. However, it seemed that Haruka wouldn't get what he wanted…
Haruka opened his mouth to speak but he let it fall shut again because it would be no use. Makoto's music was loud enough to be heard so there was no way that Haruka's soft voice would go noticed. With a heavy heart, Haruka stood up and he walked out of the living room. A part of him wanted to cry and the other parted wanted to scream and beg for attention. It wasn't often that Haruka really wanted attention but now he craved for it. Perhaps he had done some damage to their relationship that simply couldn't be repaired?
Haruka glanced at the kitchen counter and he saw his cell phone smiling gleefully at him. Haruka hated the thing and he hardly ever used it, much to Makoto's dismay. He had often been scolded for not carrying it with him. Makoto loved reciting all the things that could go wrong and Haruka had always nodded, promising that he would use it more often. In the end, he never kept that promise. When Haruka picked it up, he noticed a text message from Rin. Haruka glanced in Makoto's direction once more but the boy was still swaying to the beat of the music. Haruka shook his head and opened the text message, at least Rin was friendly enough to give him the attention he deserved.
Hey Haru, uhm thanks for everything. I really enjoyed myself and I'm really grateful for what you did. Say, would you like to catch a movie tonight or something? Can you ask Makoto to come along as well? He seemed pretty annoyed so I didn't have the heart to ask him. Catch you later!
Haruka's eyebrows furrowed. So he wasn't the only one that received the cold shoulder from the olive-haired male. A part of him wanted to know what they talked about while he was still upstairs, sleeping blissfully. Perhaps they had a fight? Haruka shook his head, Makoto would never pick a fight with the redhead or at least, not intentionally. With a deep sigh, Haruka left his kitchen and he sat down next to Makoto again, careful not to touch the boy. After a few seconds of thinking, Haruka yanked out the ear buds forcefully and the glare he received was enough to make him feel like he was a bit of dirt that wasn't even worth a glance. Perhaps yanking them out forcefully wasn't a good idea but he had already tried the soft approach before and when that fails…
"Hey," Haruka whispered softly, toying with the buds in his hands nervously. When his eyes met Makoto's, Haruka felt rather intimidated and that was a huge feat, given that Makoto has never looked at him that way before. He had definitely done something wrong…
"What's wrong?" Haruka asked softly, carefully holding Makoto's gaze, hoping that his eyes would soften and start sparkling as a graceful smile curled his lips.
However, Makoto's eyes continued to glare and his lips didn't curl into a smile at all, their remained pursed together as if Makoto was afraid to say what was bothering him.
"Do you want to catch a movie with me and Rin? He invited us to hang out some more," Haruka continued, pretending like he was having a normal conversation with Makoto. The olive-haired male turned his head a little and Haruka could see that he was at least thinking about it. Whenever Makoto was in deep thought, his forehead would show faint wrinkles and his nose would scrunch up a little. Haruka remained silent as Makoto continued thinking about the proposition. The raven-haired male continued to nervously toy with Makoto's ear buds and he jumped a little when Makoto spoke to him.
"Sure," his voice sounded so distant to Haruka and the raven-haired male hated it when Makoto spoke to him that way. He wanted to hear that soft and soothing voice that he heard in his wildest dreams.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," Haruka added, afraid that Makoto perhaps felt a bit obliged to hang out with the two of them. Haruka wasn't ecstatic about the whole 'date-thing' but he craved for attention and if Rin was the only one willing to give him what he needed…
"It's fine," Makoto said curtly and he stood up, snatching the ear buds out of Haruka's hands and popping them back into his ears. His hips swayed with the blasting music and Haruka couldn't help but stare as Makoto swayed his way out of the room.
Why won't you just talk to me?
Haruka glanced at his reflection in the mirror. He looked quite handsome if he did say so himself. His hair sat just right and he was wearing a nice navy blue V-neck that accentuated the muscles of his torso along with his strong collarbone. A tight pair of jeans clung to his behind and his strong legs, yeah he looked sexy.
When Haruka left the bathroom, he couldn't help but blush as Makoto's emerald gems darted over his body, staring a bit longer than he actually wanted to. Haruka was glad that Makoto was at least still attracted to him. Haruka paid Makoto no extra attention and he made his way downstairs to slip into a pair of sneakers.
The cool wind blew against their faces as they walked towards the movie theatre. Normally, Haruka would tangle his fingers in Makoto's but Haruka kept a safe distance between the two of them, afraid to upset Makoto even further. Haruka still hadn't figured out exactly what was wrong with Makoto and he hoped that Rin had some answers. It wasn't often that Haruka couldn't figure out what was on Makoto's chest but when it happened, Haruka felt like a fish on dry land.
When they reached the movie theatre, Haruka could already see a faint splash of red and a small smile curled his lips. Haruka felt like there was something unfinished hanging between Rin and him because Haruka didn't have the chance to say goodbye earlier.
Haruka waved at Rin and the redhead waved back eagerly, a grin cracked on his face. Just when Haruka was about to say hi to Rin, something unexpected happened, making Haruka's mouth drop open…
Losing him, the only one he's ever known…
A/N: Thank you all so much for the many reviews! I'm really speechless! I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep including Marinka(Though I'm thinking about it) in this story since it originally started out as a MakoHaru story :) However, if you do find the uncontrollable need to read some Marinka, I've posted a story called "Only You Two" and it's 100% Marinka :)
Thanks for reading! :)
Lots of love!
